It's funny how your reply is the one that really helped me clarify this situation and also helped me see where I went wrong, but you got down voted... and the rest of the responses here consist of "you're beta as fuck". What a weird sub.

These are good points, and it's a good reply. I suppose I didn't think so hard about the cultural differences, either. I may be at a point where I have very little patience for things turning into a controlling situation, where I have to walk on egg-shells with a woman and begin apologizing for every minor miss-step. So instead of thinking it through, I just hit the detonate button. There's another woman in my life, too. With her, there are no issues like this, at all. So this probably motivated…

You guys are so sure of yourselves. It wasn't long distance. We were one hour apart so we didn't see each other in person all the time, but we met in a nightclub. I said she's Iranian, I didn't say she lived in Iran. We both live in SoCal.

Thanks some solid points of view on this thread. Had an interesting experience today. I'm traveling in Bosnia right now. I went out with this American girl I met. We were really into each other. Great chemistry, but she had to leave for another country so we only had a couple of hours together. This guy came to pick her up who she met in Croatia. They were going with a big group to go camping. He was about 6'2, long dark hair, facial hair, rather alpha looking. He came over to carry her bags for…

What's interesting is how at 6'0 and athletic you're exactly what I wish I was and I often think if I were just someone who looked like you and wasn't scrawny 5'9 28 year-old built like a child, then my love life wouldn't be a complete desert. But you're describing the same problems i've had. Girls just lose interest. The attraction is just not there. So while i blame my looks, you blame something else... If women aren't just throwing themselves at you for an athletic body then it's evidence tha…

It's really messed up. So many expectations are generated online. As Ackbar would say, it's a trap

The thing is I'm in pretty good shape. I can run up a mountain. If I go into bodybuilding it's going to be 100% for cosmetic reasons. Also the added testosterone. It's about increasing my manliness. I have to focus on it when I return from traveling because I'm no finding any gyms in hostels in the Balkans right now. But without becoming completely obsessed about it, it's a solid strategy for me as part of one method of fixing my situation.

Well, I've got that going for me, which is nice.

Thanks, good varied viewpoints. I think I need to stop with the online dating as well, even though it seems so easy. Every actual girl I've ever dated successfully I met face-to-face. All these rejection nightmares have, somehow or another, come from the Internet. The expectations women have won't match reality, and I sense even if I were less scrawny it wouldn't make a giant difference as I'm presuming.

I guess in the back of my mind this is something I know to be true. I was conscious of it when I was with this recent example. So I did try to increase the banter. I guess what I have a hard time with is knowing to what extent to try to alter my personality which feels like swimming upstream. I'm great at conversation but not so good at being aggressive like you suggest. If I'm at a bar and we're having a couple of beers, I know logically I need to somehow be grabbing her and trying to kiss her …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
