"duties", "demands", "burdens"...not being into casual sex is certainly fine, but that seems like a really unhealthy way to view sex or a very incorrect blanket assumption about how women view sex.

Appreciate this. I've been having a difficult time with some of the shit I see here at MR and this just might be the straw that broke the camels back. I don't know how much longer I can sit back and watch people restate the same issues over and over again on different infographics with no new information, sometimes misinformation, and shitty emotional arguments. I'm just not sure if I can support this shit anymore.

I wish more women were sexually aggressive Do you mean attractive women? Or does this also apply to the crazy, smelly, mentally unstable lady at the bus terminal? How about the woman behind you in the grocery checkout who is 40 years your senior and won't stop saying weird things you don't want to hear? While I love having my ass grabbed and alternately grabbing asses, I like to at least keep it within my predetermined circle of assgrabbery. Strangers (as shown in OP's video) in a bar really nee…

He didn't attempt suicide while he was in a relationship with me. We weren't even a thought in each others minds back then.

I appreciate and needed this. My SO struggles with depression and has attempted suicide in the past. Sometimes I feel so content with our relationship (we're a generally great couple) that it's easy to forget how potentially serious his personal issues could be. I love him more than anything and I can't imagine what it would feel like to overlook warning signs and have something terrible happen...

I have. I had "that guy" sent to a psych. ward when I finally decided to report one of his fruitless threats. It's been years since then and he's still talking to me about suicide - now through the mail. Crazy has no gender limitations, dude...

It's bullshit, period. Have you ever been harassed (as in, being questioned or detained unreasonably) by a police officer? Do you have any idea how it feels? It's fucking degrading and embarrassing. It's not guilty until proven innocent, if I remember correctly. I am a female (females tending to be the ones who get the longer end of the legal stick) with no criminal record and I've still dealt with this shit first hand. I cannot imagine being a man and knowing that all it would take for the actu…

This was fucking hilarious but I'm a woman and my partner is actually really cool so I can't relate to this anymore. But speaking from prior experience, a talking dildo would be more like... "Is that a guy you're talking to on the phone? You fucking cheating whore. You think you can just come over here and have me inside of you after that?" "If I didn't like being inside of you so much, I'd kick you out of this house because I made $5 more than you last pay period - SO THIS IS MY HOUSE, WHOMAN."…

Haha, love it! I'd never dream of assuming that someone should give me their seat simply because they have a fucking dick.

Meh, some people here don't get lots of things. People are allowed to open doors for others without it being fueled by sexism. My partner seems to like to do that for me (confusing at first, because I'd never had it done before by a partner) so I just go with it because I know it's his way of showing affection to someone he cares for and nothing more. However, sometimes I still race him to the car and open his door just to fuck with him.

Oh I love doing special things for people to make them feel good. I will hold the door open for anyone, offer assistance to someone carrying/moving something when it looks difficult, and buy drinks for people regardless of gender. Definitely not to be confused with gender favoritism.

How can someone be special but equal? Is it like the same way we tell our children they're special even though we know they're all basically just average?

Hard for me to confirm or deny. When I argue against chivalry, many men that I meet still seem insistent upon it because "it's how it's supposed to be" or "how I was raised" rather than admitting that they secretly wished it had never existed. I honestly feel like guys are pressured into it because of the stereotype of the "real man" rather than it just being something they go along with to get more women. I think that if you're constantly bombarded with stories and images of chivalry = masculin…

Good riddance too. Agreed. Not sure how I feel about it being "an older form of feminism" - just don't know if that's accurate so I won't say much on it. However, I constantly wonder how men don't see chivalry as damaging to themselves. Doesn't it perpetuate everything wrong with the way men are treated? I see it as an admittance that women are special and should be treated differently/put on a pedestal. The idea makes me want to barf a little when I think about it. Just recently moved down to S…

No problem, just had to mention it as it's extremely helpful for everyone to know about. It's much less invasive and allows for more privacy than the D&C. People who are apprehensive about getting an abortion that they really want or need because of a procedure which seems kind of frightening, may have a much easier time with the pill.

Happens often... women lying about being on BC, being sterile, poking holes in condoms etc. with zero repercussions and with the biological father still holding full financial responsibility for all of it.

Someone else mentioned the pill's name, just chiming in with more information for you. It's normally called the "abortion pill" but you get two different ones when you go to the clinic for this. Mifeprestone and misoprostol. One starves the pregnancy of nutrients, the second one (after 24 hours I believe) begins the abortion or miscarriage process. It's legal within a certain time frame, I think they'll only prescribe it for early pregnancies... up to 12 weeks maybe?

I don't know, I grew up poor as fuck in a shitty jobless town. People get used to being unemployed and then begin to like it and make excuses for it even when they could be working. I find work of all types attractive and even have a soft spot for manual laborers because it's a great sign that the dude is probably not a useless lazy fuck. Listen though, the author states that "most men" are nothing like this and that it basically takes a special kind of unempathetic person to even conceive of such acts, right? So why. the. fuck. is this directed at men? Some of this shit just kills me because they take issues that are HUMAN issues and turn them into gendered issues. For me personally, my success in acquiring dates correlated directly with the amount of confidence I had. My success in continuing to date men long term correlated directly with my cultivation of certain qualities (patience, kindness, being reasonable as you said). I had less success when I was considered generally more attractive (not age related for me) because I had no idea I was attractive and I was awkward as fuck and had no idea how to interact with or attract and keep men. I have more suc…

That kind of personality you speak of is very obviously a turn-off... for anyone. I don't disagree with you at all. And from experience I know how far kindness and understanding can get you... I've relied on these qualities heavily in my previous dating experiences. Actually, still do. I'm not sure what SMV is but I just have to disagree, sorry. I'm not a physically perfect woman (most aren't) and I have traits that are probably considered undesirable, yet have always managed to do extremely well in the dating pool - snagging men who are often higher than me on the physical attractiveness scale. However, I do work very hard to make sure that I'm a very desirable choice personality-wise. I've cultivated many traits which did not always come naturally to me... plenty of kindness…

Yeah, I don't know. I've never dated as a man and I assume men have never dated as women. I've tried having the great date debate many times but it doesn't really get anyone anywhere. A lot of the stuff you mentioned doesn't really resonate with my own personal dating experience, so I can't really speak to it. Also I'm aware that saying "this doesn't apply to me" does not make it untrue. I'm not a perfect specimen by any means but I've had much more luck in dating than I'm "supposed" to have bas…

I'm sorry... did I just stumble in to /r/TheRedPill? Women age like milk and as soon as they hit that 30 mark their value plummets because there will always be a cuter, fresher version of themselves turning 23. mens value goes up over time and womens goes down Lizards. I'm not sure I quite get what you're saying or implying. You wanted to know what a woman was bringing to the table if a man was cleaning and taking care of kids, so I responded with my personal experience. I wasn't comparing my partner to Rosie the Riveter, in fact I'm not super familiar with the details on her. My interest started because of things I saw the men around me dealing with... friends, lovers... but I like the fact that I've learned about these things early enough in my life to be able to educate my son when the time comes. It's great to know that with all the terrible news we see on here sometimes that we have the opportunity to begin changing things simply by making sure that our children are informed. Good stuff.

Definitely... I think it's so much easier for a loving partner to accept "flaws" in their SO's body than it is for the actual SO. I remember crying when I saw my stomach for the first time after I gave birth... I did everything right, I used the stupid creams, I ate right and exercised and dropped back down to my pre-pregnancy weight almost immediately. I hear that there are better ways to improve your body sometimes other than surgically altering them, however that's not always the case. For instance naturally thin people who cannot add feminine curves to their body by working out (getting buff does not really help this - and should someone have to force themselves to eat more to attain this?). There are definitely plenty of flaws a person can see in their body that can't be fixed by their lifestyle. I've seen this in people who are considered…

Hi, MRA chick checking in here, not a crazy SRSer. You're full of shit. My tits are already naturally large, always have been always will be - so this isn't some kind of self-defense thing here. Who the hell gets to decide what kind of body modifications qualify as "okay" and which ones qualify as trying to grab attention? I don't even understand how there would be any way to genuinely differentiate between the two without being inside someone's head. A woman who does not have breasts because of…

As an MRA supporter with large breasts, it still irks me when people stare at them. Women do it too, if not just as much as men. I think I should be allowed to feel however I want to about that without being taunted for it. Maybe you're 100% jesting though and I'm taking you too seriously... just seemed like the wrong place, wrong time to make a joke like that.

Are you... serious? Like, okay, your statement is true. Are you legitimately applying this to men? I actually happen to know a couple men... so I'm wondering if we know different kinds of men? Maybe you're just applying this to men (see also: people in general) who stare at women and undress them with their eyes? Also makes me wonder if I'm an animal because as a sexual being, I often look at an attractive man and wonder what he'd look like naked, sometimes think about doing dirty nasty things t…

Planned Parenthood won't issue the pill any later than nine weeks. Other clinics/areas may be different, though. Anyway that wasn't really my Q here, I was wondering how far along she was.

Damn things are different up North. Even through the counselling session they ask you to do before the procedure... everyone seems really pro-you-having-the-abortion. Not to say that they don't try everything they can to keep you from coming back (setting women up with better birth control options, etc.)... but there's definitely no shaming and I often wonder if women who are genuinely doubting their choice are really catered to up here.

In relation to number two... he can totally go in the room with her permission. That's what he needs to work on getting. Her permission. You can seriously go in the room and witness the procedure without a doubt -he wouldn't have to be worrying for the next however many months.

Thaaaank you. These places are usually extremely secure and require proper ID, proof that you belong there, metal detectors, etc. And you can't ask a doctor about someone else's medical history at random and actually expect to receive on the spot information... confidentiality is a thing. I'm all about supporting OP in his situation but we shouldn't be giving out half-hearted misinformed advice.
/r/MensRights11/03/13 01:38 PM

Have you figured out what day and time the appointment is scheduled for? Can you call the clinic to "confirm" the appointment? Considering the fact that there's a history of people wanting to kill those who give/get abortions, I'm pretty sure there's no possible way to do this. You can't even walk into a clinic as a patient or as their support person without handing in identification and going through the metal detector.
/r/MensRights11/03/13 01:34 PM

Yeah, you're definitely not allowed to go alone. Aside from this - it's such an intense and emotional experience that you'd think you'd want to have someone there who you feel close to. Like, the person who you duped into getting you pregnant. Anyway I'm not sure if someone who is capable of violating someone else's rights and entire fucking life in this way even deserves to have their wants considered after so blatantly ignoring everyone (including the potential child's) else's.

I'll never understand this shit. It feels dirty, wrong, and like a violation of everything I stand for as a person to have ANYONE tell me that I should be making different life choices (ones that go against the grain of what I truly desire) in order to support their idea of what a real woman is. Totally fair, and that I understand. I guess I just ask that people be careful in regards to their wording on here as it's so easy for people (see: SRS) to twist things completely out of context and pin us as misogynistic assholes (which I was not trying to call OP). I get and appreciate the fact that you're trying to do something positive here, and that you're aware of the injustices. This may be unpopular, but... I don't think that we should get into the habit of saying that women have "nothing" to worry about. It's damaging and unnecessary to minimize what a person of the opposite gender faces in life when bringing to light what limitations the other gender faces. I think probably because it's a place to post where there are likely to be people who will understand the issue. I've been saying for years that the English language is so primitive. Definitely waiting for telepathy. It's all way too common. I realize that if my bad guy can get away, others can too, and just the same - some are tried and found guilty who haven't done a thing. I pray that the fact that the cops attempted to contact this guy (even though they never took it further) was enough to scare him into strictly consensual sexual experiences. Realize I'm off-topic here (I got more responses on my comm…

It actually took me over a day to even report it. You know how you're watching Law and Order SVU and the rape victim immediately gets in the shower and cries and you're going "No! Don't do that! You're washing away the evidence! WTF!" Well it's exactly what I did, it was instinctual, and I wanted to pretend that it had never happened until the thought crossed my mind that my silence might permit the same thing to happen to someone else. Sometimes the education you have on the subject (totally no…

Yeah, that's scary. It's really unnerving to go through your life believing that if anything really bad ever happened to you that cops will fix it (ah, the young naive years) only to find out that this isn't always the case. Edit: Back to the original subject of rape accusations, the same thing applies. I think it's very easy to believe that if you're innocent, you will be vindicated. It's too difficult to imagine a world where the bad guys don't get locked up and the good guys do.

We figured out exactly who it was. I knew the man's first name and a few letters of his last name (he had it tattooed on himself but the script was difficult to read). From the description I gave them, they were able to bring up a picture and say "is this the guy"? Apparently they recognized him from trouble that he'd been in as a juvenile. Mostly my biggest fear is that he'll think he can get away with it again with someone else.

Thanks for understanding where I'm coming from, I really appreciate it. I've seen people come on here and respond to things strictly for the purpose of nit-picking at and trivializing issues and I'd never want to come off that way.

For clarification, I'm not trying to minimize men's issues on the subject at all. But I don't want to see women's issues minimized in order to support arguments, either. It just tears at me personally.

I swirl a lot of theories around in my head as to why the cops reacted this way, I suppose I'll never know. I wondered if it was because I lived in a lower-income neighborhood at the time. I wondered if it was because I had no social status in my town. I wondered if it was because I looked "wild" or seemed promiscuous. It's all speculation, I'll never truly know. But I was responding to the fact that not all women are responded to with pure sympathy and support in the face of something like this…

Just to be fair here, when I reported my sexual assault, the police did next to nothing other than take my clothing for evidence, never test it (because it's expensive to do and I don't matter), have me go through the degrading and embarrassing process of telling and writing my experience and then drop off the face of the Earth every time I tried to contact them. I'm not the only chick I've seen this happen to. I just want you to know that things like this still do happen and it's not just men.

That's the thing about going through shit, it often teaches you how to avoid it in the future. I'm in an amazing relationship now, couldn't be happier.

Probably getting buried, there's already a good bit of comments here... which is awesome anyway. I dealt with things like this that eventually lead to domestic violence in my relationships with men. Then later in my experiences when I was trying to search for better partners, I encountered men who has dealt with the same behavior from their girlfriends. Abuse is abuse. It's happened to me, it's happened to other women I care about, it's happened to men that I care about. Everyone should be warne…

It's called broad generalizations. You didn't say feminists, you said "Women have become selfish children." You dehumanized an entire gender, like an ass. You then call all women brainless. Talk about infantile escapades. These types of comments are what the opposition zeros in on, and makes us all look bad. Please quit it. We hate it when there are broad generalizations against men, so we need not stoop to that level. My wife is supportive of our cause. Is she a selfish child? So is my mom. Is …

I do. I think that (if two people in a relationship genuinely want it that way) some people might prefer one partner to be more dominant by making some of the more important decisions in the house hold, being financially responsible, or the emotional rock. Also for example you have people who prefer submissive/dominant types in the bedroom that like to carry on these types of roles out of the bedroom also. The "good kind of dominant" to me would be where both partners are accepting of the fact t…

Yes... I recognized this immediately having gone through it myself and it happens to both men and women. This isn't about becoming a dominant partner... it's about being an abuser.

Gah, your first two points were things I'd originally intended to add to my comment and decided against. My thoughts on the matter were based on the assumption that this was not consensual sex. Now, I did just go back to the article to see what is actual charges were and I see they were statutory rape. The girl is obviously contesting this guy saying it was coerced, not consensual. Don't know what to think at this point. I really hate to sit here and say that I know which way it happened, becaus…

Now mind you I'm coming from more of a moral/ethical standpoint rather than from a place of understanding exactly how the laws/rights work in this situation, so maybe that's an issue here, butttt... Okay, how do I word this? I guess I don't feel that rights and responsibilities should go hand in hand in this type of situation. Honest question. Do you ever consider why some women might be in that mindset where they are hyper-vigilant? Just wondering if I could get some insight into why some people are reacting so violently to someone having this specific fear. I do feel that it could possibly have more to do with personal experiences (which is kind of a critical skill to have as a human - touch a hot stove, get burned, forever be more cautious around hot stoves [not that stoves are evil, nor are men]) rather than assum…

In beginning my research on the subject, I've stumbled across a lot of quotes like this... especially ones geared toward housewives being viewed as useless pieces of shit (awesome to read, as homemaker/mother). Is this the norm for the movement? It seems so radical and off the wall. Knowing myself, it's only natural that my mind immediately went here; as I read those quotes you linked to all I could think of was "when/how do these women get laid?!" Good grief! Do you feel like you're jaded becau…

Okay, honest inquirer here. Explain like I'm five. What is feminism to you (directed at any and all here who'd like to answer), what are feminists like, and how are they and the movement harmful? Does anyone feel like there are positive aspects to the movement? Do you feel some of these people are well-meaning or is this something you feel is based upon pure malice towards men? Glad I found this comment here. I'm a female checking out this sub, purely for curiosity's sake and after reading just a few of these comments I felt guilty for being a chick. I'm 25. I guess I've just always found (and my few close lady friends seem to be on the same page with me) a casual type of dress to feel more approachable and down-to-Earth? More like someone I'd like to talk to or get along with. Like I said, though. There's a way to do (for example) a t-shirt and jeans that shows that you DON'T care and AREN'T aware of how you look and what suits you. Then there's guys who seem to know exactly what wash of denim with what type of cut flatter them the most. I …

Also, I'd like to point out that I see what you're saying. Having a dude follow me around could possibly be very unattractive and annoying - but that'd be if one wasn't actually into the guy or he was pulling some kind of unrequited love BS. No one wants that. But when feelings are mutual and there's no kind of power-struggle for who likes who the most going on, I don't see the issue.

Lol, I wasn't trying to be rude. Things are going well. We're completely committed, moved out of state together, started a new life and are busy working and raising a child together. Beautiful response. I'm a chick, but in my past I've used some of those "rules" and tricks. I succeeded in getting several immature douchebags to be interested in me.
