Ah, I avoided that bullet. We were both in a bad place financially and he told me it would be nice to cohabitate. I freaked out that moment but said nothing. He understood though. Breaking up came 1.5 year later though, after I found a decent job and he was still job hopping to dead end jobs.

And this is what abusive families do to women: Leave them utterly vulnerable, actually groom them, for future abuse by men. This is a sickening story. I hope she finds decent help along the way. She is so young and she got through so much, she deserves a good life from now on.

You can actually opt out from dating women in general. It would be a favor to all of us.

Man, of course you don't get the women you "want" (ie the ones that you consider to increase your social status) because you don't really see them as people but as accessories. Additionally you have awful character and it shows. No woman in her right mind wants a man with bad temper.

Hahahah, exactly my reaction. I can to be "soft" for small creatures in need, not in order to be attractive to crusty men.

I've spent some of my early years riding horses. Life situations didn't allow me to continue with that hobby but I seriously root for horse girls. Horses are so special and gentle creatures, having to do with them builds character and empathy.

I'm here, gasping and clutching my pearls. What kind of soul sucking monster is that? You see that your girlfriend has a hobby she loves, a very special bond with an animal and a fairly stable social circle related to these things. Instead of supporting her and being part of her happiness, you demand her to stop having all that because you jumped into her life for a few months. He should be dumped ASAP, he and his stupid nosey family.

As much as I love the activity of cooking with loved ones, I would not recommend it in the context of a new relationship, not even as a vetting strategy. Last time I did, 4 years ago, it ended up in a disaster. You can cook together with your friends, it is safer.

I think it is the privilege. They get the most out of everything by doing the absolute less, thus the standards for themselves are really low in every aspect.

I had to see a male therapist twice, because I was checking in and out of a public facility for therapy. He was obnoxious, totally tactless and of course he said outrageously misogynistic things to me. During the checking out I realized that my own therapist there, who was a woman, was a raging pickme hungry for his validation. 🤡 So, I second that male therapists are actually harmful and I want to add that pickme women therapists are also bad. Glad that my current therapist is totally HV and act…

I get the point of vulnerability being something that can create genuine connections between people, but I think we need to add a context to that. The context is that we live in societies that do not support us being vulnerable, on the contrary there are repercussions for it. We can selectively and gradually share vulnerable pieces of ourselves with people that we feel we can trust. Anything else might put us in danger. Recently I had this conversation with my own therapist, about being vulnerab…

The "rating" system is something created by men, is utterly dehumanizing and no decent person should be using it. Also why the "Chad" is at the top of the pyramid and "Becca" at the bottom? If this is not the semantics of a misogynistic scheme then I don't know what it is. As another commenter said, this video is pickme bullshit. Men on dating apps are not there to "date" most of times, they are there for the sex. We had a conversation with my therapist about OLD the other day and she was like "M…

She should RUN from him. This man already resents her for being compassionate towards him and he will go on being an asshole in more overt ways. No man who really likes a woman says something like that to her, even if it has crossed his mind. He WANTED to hurt her.

She is fairly young, she has a difficult work-study-social life situation. And it is so hard to be a woman without a substantial support network. Do I support women paying men to do what they are supposed to do, being kind and giving words of affirmation? No. Do I find the situation extremely sad? YES. But I'm not sure if the answer to all this is "to tell this woman to get therapy". And I wouldn't compare her with a PickMe. This woman needs a decent support network to begin with, close friends,…

Recently I resolved that if I want to keep in touch with a potential date from OLD I can use a throwaway IG account. I won't follow him, he doesn't get to see my stories or posts and of course I don't really bother to see most of the stuff he uploads. On the other hand, I can most of times check who he follows, because men that follow insta models or SWs are a big "NO" from me.

One thing that happened after FDS is that I've started gradually removing Pickme women from my circle. They are as bad as their partners and trying to hook you up with their LV friends. I focus on friendships with women who are single or who have healthy relationships that don't spill out in every other aspect of their life. Pickmes are only interested in men. They don't really give a shit about other women. So let them be, away from us.

My pickme step-mother did exactly the opposite of what you state here. She took full responsibility of me and my brother, without really wanting it, or being cut for it, just to be picked by my scrote of a father. Guess what happened, we ended up being resentful towards each other. She could dump my father and just go on with her life. A yeah, we became a thing in a popular manosphere sub today. Had several men call me ugly, judging from a post of mine with a picture of my cockatiel. Because the 1/10 of someone's face with a hint of heavy rimmed glasses and a short haircut are really indications of someone being "ugly". Like scrotes have any sense of aesthetics whatsoever, lol.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy18/12/21 08:00 PM
21

I come from a kinda different place but I get what you mean. For myself I struggled to be fenimine as a young person. Femininity for me was always more attractive, but I kinda felt like a genderless being. So seeing men being feminine was always attractive in a way of "if they can pull it, I can pull it too." I identify as queer nowadays, but I'm at last connected with my feminine qualities.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy18/12/21 04:33 PM

I really like the aesthetics of performative femininity in men, but I don't really like the whole package that usually come with them. I've yet to see a hetero man who does "feminine" things and isn't a total arse. So realistically, I'd rather have a handsome plain guy who is kind, decent and does housework.

I once dated a young scrotlet who felt entitled to be emotionally pampered and "saved" by me. I cut that off immediately and he suddenly became resentful. Ergo I broke up with him really soon after that. If I didn't do so I'd be like your friends, taking care of a self-destructive manbaby.

I'm like you, I don't date much nowadays. Since FDS I've become very picky, so I don't find most men dateable to begin with. Last time I went on a date was this spring and I didn't clicked with the guy at all. Additionally I think that multi-dating requires full time effort either being on OLD apps or being extremely social. I can be really social, but working and studying full time leave me with limited time that I prefer to spend with my close friends and doing hobbies. On top of that, the las…

I used to have a friend group like that, and I was always the "tame" person of the group. I gradually stopped wanting to be around them, because after a point I knew that this was not the lifestyle I want. Our friends are our influences, you don't really want influences like that. You will gradually find friends from different circles that are not into addictive stuff and you are going to realize that your current friends are not the norm. So I stopped talking to her, she threw a massive tantrum about that, calling me names and such, thing that proved that she was not really my friend in the first place. I was recently thinking about this, that the thing I was totally missing in my relationships, romantic and platonic till now, was being cherished by other people. I gradually find friends that make me feel cherished. Also I recently started being in contact with my grand-aunt from my maternal family, who makes me feel like that too. Now that I'm finding this precious way of relating with other people, being desired by men does nothing for me.

Never EVER reveal past mistreatment or job problems to your employers. For example: I had my recent school director telling me that "I should be more careful and generous with marks" so I won't have "problems" with parents. I told her that I was always like that and never had any problems. She immediately stopped pestering me. Of course I omitted the fact that I had 2-3 parents complaining during the last 5 years, but come on, that's not a substantial number, neither something that won't happen …

I produced a high "eeeww" noise while reading about your college roommate and his filthy jeans. (who sleeps in JEANS, they are so uncomfortable for that matter). I totally understand you about the "I can't sit on beds with outside clothes" thing. Where I live we were lucky enough to rent decent apartments as college students, so we had sofas, bean-chairs, or even nice and fluffy carpets to sit on. Additionally we have the "no shoes in house" culture collectively, so our homes tend to be cleaner.

The "give him a chance even he is below your standards" is a common discourse where I come from. You can be as "picky" as you want. Thanks for the post, it was really insightful. My past engagement with polyamory came from a place of pure fear. In my late teens I had a very traumatic relationship with a NVM who was ridiculously jealous and totally suffocating. When I came across polyamory in my early 20's I thought of it as a way to work through the jealously thing. But it wasn't like that at all. Queer spaces, like the "spiritual" community, have been heavily commodified in several ways. Drinking/club culture is one of the ways for queer culture. Even the vocality of queer academics such as Judith Butler is a way of commodification. And whatever becomes heavily commodified starts lacking nuance, it becomes rigid and stereotypical, "measurable" in some ways. Queer spaces are suffering by their own stereotypes and rigidness in my opinion.

To begin with, I hate it, as much as I hate all the self-destructive behaviors that are prevalent in queer spaces. Yes, all those things were a "counter cultural" stance 3-4 decades ago. They made sense in that cultural context. They were not beneficial , nor really revolutionary though. And now they just feel like re-iterations of the dominant heteronormative culture, just with more glitter.

From 1st till 3rd grade I was always placed near unruly boys. I vaguely remember anything from that era, besides the fact that I started to constantly draw during the lesson as a mean to self-sooth. Mind you, I went to a private school and I was effortlessly an excellent student. Being sat near boys felt like an unjust punishment.

As a bi woman I have to say that queer women are way better than men. Of course there is the stereotype of lesbians moving too fast in a relationship (I've seen this happen and it is toxic) but in general my dating experience with women has been way better than with men. And yes, not dressing for the male gaze, but for comfort and fun is a thing every woman should dig into.

I really relate to what you are saying. I'm also neurodiverse and grown up in a difficult environment. Nevertheless due to my character I was always averse to many self-destructive behaviors. I think that a man should be vetted about his friends long before we become intimate with him. Birds a feather flocking together. If we get LV vibes from his friends, he is LV too. Meeting a partner's friends is very important while vetting and it gives us the chance and the input to vet hard.

Wow, thanks for this post! I was thinking about rejection these last days and how weird it feels to be rejected not because you are not "good enough", but because you don't fulfill a misogynistic role of femininity. Men are most of times misogynists. Their tastes are heavily influenced by their misogyny. So male rejection is most of times a sign that we as women don't buy into patriarchal feminine roles. A badge of honor indeed. We can go on being our true selves and supporting each other in thi…

Oh yes, that being "naturally a people-pleaser" brought to my mind the fawning response that is shoved into many of us. I'm currently working with fawning in therapy. My therapist said that fawning is an excellent survival skill when you grow up in emotionally dangerous households. And knowing how to be likable can be useful in life. But when you start being by yourself this extreme need to be liked becomes obsolete or even dangerous and thus where setting boundaries with other people comes to p…

I live alone, I have my own finances and I treat myself with care: doing my therapy, having a balance between work and play, exercising for the love of it, having hobbies, friends and a pretty adorable cockatiel that keeps me company. Do I want a man? Yes, only if he adds something more in what I'm doing for myself already, without disturbing my peace. Will I find this kind of man? I'm not sure, but I feel better being single than in a sour r…

To begin with, my therapist says that anger is a very good emotion for people that have been wronged. So you don't need to carry that anger of yours as a burden, but as a weapon and a shield. What can you do with it though: -This anger will help you (if not already helps you) to set your boundaries in relation with all the toxic masculine behaviors you encounter. -This anger can make you not only stand for yourself but also for other women who need it, as well as, seeking support from them too. …

Becoming financially dependent to an older rich man? No thanks, that's not HV in any way. We can date affluent people, but the real deal is to be financially independent. Can an affluent suitor help you with their connections to expand your own career? Good. Is he generous with you not only in material terms but also emotionally? Good. I think that not being actually protected and safe in a family environment is a common theme to the lives of many of us. We don't learn basic skills about physical and emotional boundaries and it hits us hard when we are adult and on our own. Pornography is by itself a rather conservative medium, based on the exaggerated re-iteration of social norms. That's why all the misogyny in porn and BDSM are so heavily protected at the end of the day. This "cannibalism fetish" thing is nothing really new. It's the symbolic destruction of the "Other", that Other being always feminine or effeminate. It's just another unfolding of the deep misogyny that plagues our society.

Just yesterday we were talking with a dear friend of mine about what is good sci-fi. Good sci-fi is clever and imaginative social critique. Thus women write WAY BETTER than men on that genre because they experience the impact of societal unfairness more harshly. I guess it goes for other genres too. Fortunately there was a backlash for him (expelled from the show to begin with) and many people found his statement as abhorrent as it is.
