Great job recognizing patterns, breaking them, and leveling up! You are on a great path of successful self-empowerment and actualization. Women already have a negative sum starting point in life, as misogyny is cultural disease all across the globe. I am lucky enough to say that my dad is a very HVM. Even so, I was still indoctrinated by the misogyny in the world, that I still had to deconstruct and rebuild to become a true HVW. And while the process might be uncomfortable, with practice, it bec…

No offense to you personally, but your father speaks LV words from being a LVM and giving your mom a LV or NV marriage. As you've pointed out, he is not the beacon of HVM light to follow. Men deserve no benefit of any doubt. If there's any ounce of doubt, NEXT HIM. I can't even count the number of times I gave "the benefit of the doubt," and I got burned in one way or another. Every. Single. Time.

The whole "relationships are hard" line is just hugely successful propaganda to get women to put up with shit men and their shit behavior. LVM are the first, and loudest ones to openly and frequently bash HVM and happy relationships. They don't want you to expect anything more than the literal nothing they've been giving you.

Yes, Queen! I feel this post on a personal level. I consider myself HV, but it takes practice. I recently had a similar situation, one where the guy was seemingly great, but I knew couldn't give me what I deserved. I also ended it, even though me a few years ago wouldn't have because eVeRyThInG eLsE iS sO gReAt. As women, we are so socialized to "stick it out," "give them a chance," and cOmMuNiCaTe. But fuck that. Nice, for what?! Nice for setting yourself up for failure, heartache, financial an…

My dad is very allergic to cats. When my dad and mom first got married, they got a cat because my mom wanted one and my dad wanted my mom to be happy. They will be married 35 years this year.

Any woman who would swipe right on, let alone message, this man (and all the other ones with a similar bio) are out of their fucking mind. Even Pickmes should be able to decipher the blaring red flags to some degree, I would hope. His profile has zero attractive qualities or charm in which to fool you.

Financial partner = Mommy McBangmaid without actually going through the trouble of defining the relationship (Because it isn't a relationship) And the asterisk after "king*" ?? There were no footnotes or omitted information for follow up.

I am 5'3", and how a literal 5'10"ish man felt compared to me was how all the previous 6'2"ers felt... Something's a little fishy here. Why do they care so much about lying about this? Insecure scrotes. When I was right out of high school I dated a short man claiming to be 5'3", but once we stood next to each other at a mirror and I was definitely a little taller than him. He was also 10 years older than me, go figure. He was in graduate-level courses of LVM Math

Follow-up. I dated a man who was actually measured between 5'9" and 5'10" and didn't ever lie about it. He felt VERY tall to me for being 5'10".... what does that tell you? LOL

Yes 100%. But it's weird to ask Craigslist roommates for sex right out the gate. Enter: OLD

Since he put that he is 5'10", he is probably more like just under 5'7"

He just hasn't elevated his terminology to "FLR" quite yet

I did not screenshot a photo of him, but I'm sure you won't be surprised to hear that he was physically unattractive.

Also the audacity to say he wants a financial partner, but also looking for "something casual." Like, wtf. Finances are not casual.

If you think a walk is a cheap date, what makes you think that a $4 latte is much better of an investment on their behalf? This is assuming they even pay for it. You can literally scrounge $4 in change out of your car or couch. 60-120 minutes over a coffee and/or an alcoholic beverage is way too long. You'd not only be nursing your drink to make it last that long, you might also find yourself sitting with no beverage for the majority of the "date." Or worse, you enjoy a few drinks and by the tim…

Thank you. I'm not even sure I'll be fazed at all. Like I mentioned in another comment reply, I just haven't had this scenario before in my life, so I might be more anticipatory than anything else. But I'm ready to find out- we will see!

I wouldn't acknowledge anyone who dumped me. I'd pretend to not see them and act as if they don't exist.

More great perspective, thank you. I am likely a little tightly wound because I have been avoiding this scenario post break up, but I'm ready to get back out there in the scene which we both frequent. I think becoming desensitized, like you mentioned in your first response, will be crucial here. It might be hard the first few times, and that's okay, but it won't always be that way.

Thank you! The head nod is classic, and even more useful in mask-times. I don't even have to force expressions at him lol.

Thank you! in the event I take company with me, I will follow this. I'm a pretty laid back, calm demeanor individual (not shy or awkward), so I will be as happy and animated as is within my personality, without overdoing it and drawing unwanted attention to myself.

Yeah, I have thought many times after this break up that I wish I could identify him as being definitely LV. It would be much easier that way. There's always time for him to turn out that way, but hasn't yet lol.

I think it would be easier for me if he did it. But I think that is one very important, albeit difficult, parts about practicing FDS- making your decisions, setting your boundaries and sticking to them. If it were him who broke it off, he would need to worry about sticking to his guns when he saw me while I effortlessly moved on from someone who didn't want me, that's easy! But in this scenario, it's trickier because I have to stick to my own guns, enforce my boundaries and not compromise with m…

Thank you. I completely agree with you there about being friends with exes. It's a unhealthy, potentially messy if not toxic dynamic. If I could completely avoid him forever I would do that, no question.

Thank you! I honestly hope I can skate by without making eye contact, but if we do, I will try to keep everything to a minimum without detail. I think that's a good key. It's easy once you have that rapport with someone, even if it's been a while, to over-ask and over-share.

Thank you for this! This is very sound advise, honestly. I think drinking around him could potentially be bad news. While I'm easing myself into potentially being exposed to him and desensitizing myself to his presence, I will definitely lay off the drinks. Not something I had thought of, but SUPER important!

Thank you!! This is great advise. Yes I was the one who initiated the break up. And yes, there are other things at play that have me concerned it could be awkward. It was a break up that I didn't want to do, but knew was the right thing. I still know it was the right thing, no question about it. But for the time we had together (~1 year of history) he had been displaying HV traits, was sweet, thoughtful and caring, paid for everything, sexually generous, etc. We were very attracted to each other…

Unmatched already! I really hate OLD. I have met one or two men who seem to be of higher value, but none of which I ended up having anything with. Then, the sea of hundreds of LVM.
