Though I don't have concrete examples, I find no difficulty imagining small local community businesses, with no online presence, discriminating against minorities, with little financial repercussions. And on the large scale, if a company developed something like a cure for a disease, then it's clear limiting discrimination in that case is important. Basically, there are still areas where market forces aren't effective enough at stopping discrimination from occurring.

I didn't think of that until I got into several discussions with self professed libertarians claiming that no government regulation is necessary with regard to discriminatory practices. As it stands, I believe it is silly to claim balck and white here. Some situations call for discrimination to offer a service that benefits the whole community, while some discriminatory practices are clearly just bigotry.

In insular communities, denial of service to minorities won't necessarily negatively affect sales in a significant way. It's important to protect minorities from bigotry in areas that aren't fully affected by market forces.
