Completely agree. Intimacy/sex should not be a reward for acting like a partner. A ton of these DB situations arise from built resentment over time (I should know, I was in one) and people who would rather be comfortable than make a change. Whether that means changing the relationship, yourself, or getting out all together. In my experience, women are much more likely to initiate a breakup in a DB scenario because we only have so much time given our reproductive timelines. Have to be pragmatic a…

People make time for what’s important to them. Full stop. This is my dating (and life) mantra.

I love a good phone call (also: voice memos). Personal and sexy. Much better than texting.

Something that’s helped me tremendously is spending time with people who are supportive, kind, and encouraging. Friends who embrace you, not who you are in relation to someone else. i.e.: Last night I went to a NYE party with one of my single girlfriends. Instead of kissing the single lawyers (yes, there were multiple) that one of our “couple” friends tried to set us up with for a midnight kiss, we got down on one knee, and shot our tiny champagne glasses and sang into the New Year. Friends like…

Very helpful. Easy to forget their motivations when they’ve got that accent and act all chivalrous...at the beginning!

Needed to hear this...! They come in hot, and then, nothing. Will not chase someone like that (or, anyone, tbh).

You are definitely not being too picky. Mutual interest and connection are so important, and if he’s interested-you will know. No point in wasting time with someone who’s low effort. And then, even if they put in the effort and time, it’s still ok to break it off if YOU aren’t interested. Recently I was talking to someone for about two months—we met on an app. I made it clear that I just wanted to be friends, but he still went above and beyond. When he still wanted to date, I had to just tell hi…

Yes, but, better to know than not. And,..this isn’t always the case. I prefer to stay positive!

See: love bombing. It’s a narcissistic behavior, that I learned, the hard way, from a diagnosed narcissist I dated right after ending long term relationship. Long story short: if they are giving you 24/7 attention, it might be to see what happens when they take it away. Yikes!

My Uber driver told me this once. Can’t say I’ve always listened, but, he also said to not make any relationship decisions when you are upset, angry, horny, or drunk/high. Solid. Also, when it comes to rejection, just keep in mind that it’s much better for someone to be upfront with you early on than when you’re even more emotionally attached. Obviously this is hard to accept when you are first rejected, but, you deserve to be with someone who wants you the same way. Keep fishing and good luck!

Two things: 1.) No obviously means no. Him trying to “convince” you is an abusive behavior. I’m sorry you had to deal with that. 2.) I’m active in BDSM relationships, and we often use “play” to describe our sessions, time together etc. I’m not sure what vanilla men mean when they use it causally, but, perhaps he’s kinky? I personally love the term when it’s between two consenting adults because sex/intimacy can and should be fun...at least sometimes 😊

Or, my personal favorite, “I didn’t lie—you never asked!” Am I supposed to be anticipating deceit? A lie of omission is still lying. 🙄

“I know I’m doing something wrong” & “If only we had met another way, it’s just bad timing” & “I thought I had things figured out until I met you”.... The list goes on and on. So happy this community exists so we can talk about such things. I’m learning not to undervalue myself by associating with such men. Stay sharp with high standards ❤️
