If you've never approached before, do this. Go to a city where you don't know anyone. Approach directly without worry because 1) Who cares? You don't live there. The likeliness of you running into these people again is pretty close to zero. 2) Don't worry about how you come across or the outcome. It probably happens in a bar or at a nightclub, but during the day, it rarely happens. Everyday I see guys gawping at hot girls that walk by but they never approach.

This is true. Just practice. You'll get better. I'll give you one example. I used to be awful at interviewing for jobs. To get better, I began reading books on interviewing and started practicing on my own. I signed up for countless interviews, even the jobs I wasn't interested in, just to get practice. Needless to say, I'm pretty good at interviewing now.

Literally throw yourself at the first hot girl you see. It'll probably go bad, but approach anxiety will decrease significantly after your first set.

This is what I do if I AA. I simply think back to a time when I did something even more ballsy (for me, it's skydiving) and realize that the anxiety I feel approaching a girl is nothing compared to that. It helps me whenever I want to approach.

Read what I wrote immediately after. I wrote "but that seems like way too much effort for one girl." And the point is, she might be special, so I'm just looking for an "appropriate" way to open as the work environment situation is foreign to me.

Good point. Not sure if I would say she's a "hired-gun" since it's Starbucks, not a clothing store. Maybe I'll try to figure out when the store is not as busy (it would be hard, it's Starbucks in a somewhat urban area) and approach direct then.
