If a male owns a business selling on Amazon, Amazon is actively inviting people NOT to by from him. Potential customers are invited to click a link that filters out all of his products, costing him money, because he has a penis. Furthermore, male-owned businesses are more than just their owners. If women do need help, Amazon isn’t exactly helping the female marketing manager who gets fired after missing her targets because her boss happens to be a man.

This excellent post captures the true issue with this kind of thing: The fact that such a commercial exists, addressing men everywhere, characterises all men as potential (or likely) perpetrators of some kind of “bad” behaviour. Acknowledging that it’s “not all men” isn’t good enough, because the audience subconsciously reduces that it’s still a high enough number for the “campaign” (because that’s what the commercial is masquerading as) to be significant or necessary. If you were to do somethin…

This is an issue I struggle with. Equality means it should be the same for everyone, but are we saying that we believe it’s right that the most minor displays of affection/desire are now crimes? So it should just be impossible for everyone? That’s not the kind of equality I want. I would much rather that he wasn’t accused of harassment, and nor was the ring girl. But how do we get there? I think it’s sad that the answer to injustice is equal injustice. Making life equally shitty for everyone jus…

I saw a very similar situation at a school with a feminist media teacher. If this is a one-off incident, you might decide to put your own well-being above the greater fight for now by putting it behind you and completing the course. I wish I could tell you that you will be able to take your qualification into the industry and change it from within, but in the current climate you’d probably get sacked. I hate to be so bleak, but the best advice may be “if you want to work in the British media, ge…

Ask if it’s okay to physically defend your mom/sister/wife/girlfriend if she is being attacked by another woman. They either have to say you must stand and watch your own mother get the shit kicked out of her, or admit that violence is acceptable under certain circumstances and continue the conversation from there.

Firstly, you could easily reformulate this post into a letter of complaint to the uni’s vice-chancellor, course leader, student union, local paper, national press, or local MP. Anyone you believe will support you. You’ll get good advice on here, but it’s not the place to get changes made to your personal situation. Secondly, she has demonstrated that she believes your opinion to be invalid because of your race and gender. It’s unacceptable. I would ask myself if I wanted to spend the next three …

I felt weird about this. “Her male partner?” They’re animals. The lioness killed her mate. That’s the vernacular. I could be accused of paranoia or something, but using terminology usually used to describe human behaviour, the unnecessary mention of “male”, along with the fact that some women refer to themselves as lionesses; this does look like some kind of weird justification for women killing men. The biggest part of it is the fact that it even made the news. Animals kill each other all the t…

It's the ending, "a court has heard", that allows them to get away with it. What first appears to be a statement of fact turns out to be a report of what the prosecution told claimed in court. Of course, by the time you get to that bit, your brain has already begun processing it as a fact and will probably disregard that last detail that changes everything. I myself have a dreadful genital skin condition which attracts flies to my crotch and people punch me in the dick because they're trying to …

It implies that men who do want a role in raising their children are not good men and do not want what's best for their children. For this to be logical, it must be based on the axiom that all children are worse off with a male parent.

Aggression, power, competitiveness (the things that largely drove the advancement of society) are all now labelled as "toxic". The only traditionally masculine trait still held in high esteem is self-sacrifice (of time, money, health or life) for the benefit of women and children. In short, the feminist ideal male is a weak, submissive man who is willing to die without complaint.

The Council does not subsidise the club, does not maintain the green and takes more money than the other bowling clubs in the same town, any of which can be used by women. There are plenty of women-only gyms and that's fine. Sometimes men and women want time away from the opposite sex and a gender-specific club allows them that.

I hate this. It's a club and it should be able to make any rules it wants. If you don't like the rules or they exclude you, dry your eyes and find another club. Do people with low IQs demand entry to MENSA because equality? All clubs exclude based on something. Some simply exclude the poor with membership fees. And that's the attraction: exclusion guarantees that members can spend time with people who are similar in some way. In this case, men who want to play bowls without women around. The fac…

I have to point out the inappropriateness of using a stock photo of a bloody knife for this story. If it was a photo of evidence from the case it may be justified. In no other story of any kind would it be acceptable to use this stock image in order to dramatise such horrific violence. Is a boy's severed penis and eventual death so unimportant that there are no taste and decency concerns here?

It's justifiable because of freedom of expression. I believe people should be allowed to express their hatred of others, and others can express their hatred of that person. One of the problems with feminism and other ideologies (along with some governments) is the attempt to censor views which oppose their own. The answer to this is not to balance things out by having all sides censor all other sides.

I don't know for sure. But the point is that abuses are more shocking when carried out by a woman because they are so rarely reported. It seems rare and at odds with female behaviour, but in reality atrocities carried out by women aren't that unusual after all.
/r/MensRights02/08/17 07:03 PM

Because that implies some responsibility may lie with the victim in some cases. Women are being raped and murdered because feminism empowers them by attacking the notion that women can exercise their own agency and judgement.

Please note the newspaper's decision to put "men's rights" in inverted commas in the headline and in the main text. And not when quoting. This is equivalent to doing that annoying "quote" thing with your fingers when you're speaking, and want to make it clear that you believe the thing you're talking about is nonsense. None of us will ever really know exactly what happened in that cab. But, even if it was a bad call in this case, I think that most of us will agree that for a judge to acknowledge that it is at least possible for a drunk person to give consent is progress for men's rights. It's a shame that this headline is for a case which is clearly controversial, as it diminishes the progress, but the BBC probably wouldn't have covered it otherwise.

It's interesting to see how social conditioning can result even in a Men's Rights poster saying "female impregnated by male". The way the sentence is arranged, he is the object which was acted upon by the subject. She was passive, he was active. He did something to her. This is not a dig at the OP; just an observation on societal norms and language can influence each other in unhelpful ways without us realising.

There are people who are raped and I am sorry to those people, and wish they weren't. Unfortunately some people (notice I didn't attempt to encapsulate an entire gender or demographic) use this to delegitimise victims of false accusation and attack them. A victim of any crime can come forward. Treating the accused as innocent until proven guilty does not prevent the reporting of crime.
/r/MensRights11/01/17 05:58 PM
11

Defending or supporting victims of false accusation does not condone the crime. If someone falsely accused someone you care about of committing a murder, and you supported that person somehow, are you condoning murder? Of course not. Secondly, it is a serious problem. The fact that you believe (or even if you could empirically prove) Problem A to be worse or more common than Problem B does not diminish the seriousness of Problem B, or the effect it has on its victims. Regarding your final point …

'Men think they're more important...' Claiming to know what men think is silly and, given the nature of the topic, rather hypocritical. And you don't need to put quote marks around 'falsely accused'. It's insulting to people who are falsely accused. Notice how you didn't do it around the word 'raped'? Let's try it the other way: -The easy example being "rape". While men are afraid of being falsely accused, women are "afraid of being raped". How does that look?
