| 5 | Any men here deal with suicidal ideation? How did you get through it?Dude you have to get away from that weapon. Put it in a safe give it away to somebody temporarily that you trust. Anything but have it where you can get to it. You're worth more than whatever you're thinking about doing and believe it or not someday you'll look back and won't even recognize the way you feel right now. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/06/26 01:59 AM |
| 3 | Can you men remind me not to beg for her back? The urge is strong to ask her to come back.Don't beg. She won't like it and you will feel like garbage. You don't want someone who doesn't choose you | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/06/26 11:15 PM |
| 1 | What is the occupation of your STBXW or Ex-Wife?Academic Advisor Manager at a university and a PhD student graduating in December. PhD women have like a 90% divorce rate. They are MISERABLE people... She has many female employees who are still out partying in their late twenties so she is hanging out with these morons who encouraged her at 41. I bet it goes swell | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/06/26 10:24 AM |
| 1 | What is the occupation of your STBXW or Ex-Wife?Man this sucks. You probably helped her get it going too | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/06/26 10:15 AM |
| 1 | Wishing I could check out foreverAbsolutely man Don't beat yourself up. Your son will enjoy time with you when you are better rested and can go do things more than just everyday but you're worn out | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/06/26 02:21 AM |
| 1 | Wishing I could check out foreverI get it for sure. Here's the thing though man, you only get the time that you're going to have allotted to you from now on. And realistically when you were married you still could only see your son so many hours a day because you probably had a job that takes you away from the home, etc. I think you're right about getting rest especially at the beginning of this process. I couldn't eat and didn't sleep well for several weeks and if you are having a harder time then that it's okay, it may take a… | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/05/26 06:41 PM |
| 3 | Having an argument and not blowing up is a great feelingGray rock and specifically the videos from the marriage therapists. Her name escapes me but she's the one that is recommended all the time. I think the overall takeaway is just don't react. Don't be feelingless but don't let somebody else control how you feel. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/05/26 12:10 AM |

| 6 | What are positive aspects of being divorced?I haven't raised my voice to anyone in almost a year. I wasn't really someone who yelled about anything (maybe watching football😄) before I got married but my ex-wife's family is extremely dysfunctional and everyone screamed all the time. I didn't grow up that way at all, but slowly yelling and screaming bled into me. It's strange how quiet my life is now that there's not somebody egging me on and creating drama. And I don't know who said it but yeah getting away from toxic in-laws before they g… | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/05/26 02:37 PM |

| 3 | I need serious help, my logic is no better than that of the very women I complain about (post-divorce struggles)Hey man hang in there. I'm 48 and I did the exact same calculation you did but here's the thing, you're going to have a completely different tool set than you did when you got married. And it's good. Now there are things that will be different no matter what. You won't ever get close to your in-laws like you did the first ones. I don't mean you won't like them, I just mean it's not the first set and you're not going to have all these memories with them like you did with the first wife. | 7 | How to you get over her?I struggled with it too for a bit but eventually the one question that really helped was is she acting like somebody who loves you? In my case she wasn't and hadn't been for a while, so it made it a lot easier for me to set aside the residual feelings. If you're here on this message board and going through a divorce the person putting you through that isn't showing you love. And at the end of the day that's what you want is to love someone and be loved in return. | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/04/26 02:04 PM |
| 20 | How many ex’s tried to come back?I think It's really depends on how you got divorced and who initiated. At ten months out I haven't spoken to or even seen my ex-wife since the court appearance eight months ago, so I think she is very content with destroying our family. She only emails me when it's about money or something she needs. And while I am kind with my replies and out of respect for what we were, it still hurts sometimes of course. But after twenty years together there can't be any love inside her if she is capable of t… | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/04/26 02:17 PM |
| – | Anyone else fail at reconnecting with friends?Divorce is a bit like having rabies. Other couples see it in you and it frightens them and they don't want to "catch* it. I had friends go through it when I was married, and even though I was a better friend to them than they have been to me, I really had no concept of what they needed until it happens to me too. The reality is you don't need bad friends just like you don't need a bad spouse. It also sucks, but you are in a time of loss right now. And ultimately it will pass. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/04/26 02:07 PM |

I settled for a happy median - I used AI to replace her in the main wedding photo that was on our mantle with my dog lol. | 2 | The reality of her being gone for good has finally set in.Today is ten months out for me from her walk out. I was crushed and thought it will never get better too. | 1 | 3 months in and struggling with my health. It's your nervous system. It's trying to save you and in doing so keeping you ready to run from a jungle cat at any moment. Of course you probably don't have to worry about this anymore (unless you work at a roadside zoo in Oklahoma) so it is very inconvenient. But it will get back to normal. In college my fiance broke up with me after 4 and 1/2 years, and I got a shock of white hair in my goatee from it. This was in my late 20s. Now in my 40s my wife left and my temples went gray. I think what might have helped me to move on a little easier was that I had been in a dead marriage for so long (she was depressed she said and told me to hang on, but it really was just a delay tactic to get in better spot to leave), that when she pulled the trigger, I was expecting something to already happen. | 2 | How did you cope with the brain trying to play the what if game?I used chat GPT. I still use it and it has been really nice. I use voice to text for my questions and then I have it read aloud the answers. It's kind of dystopian I'll give you that, but just hearing another voice say the things my brain is realizing is calming. None of this makes any sense just like this entire process, so whatever you do find as long as it isn't hurting you or someone else go for it I say | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/12/25 03:08 PM |

| 1 | Missing PhysicalThis is is exactly what I miss the most too. I haven't slept next to a woman let alone had sex with one in more than 6;or 8 months and it is really difficult. What has helped is that I have a girlfriend now but she and I aren't sleeping in the same bed and are going very slow. | 3 | Long rantHey I want to offer some advice. Something that has been useful for me is going to chat GPT and just spilling my guts and asking it for different angles on things. It can read it aloud to you back if you want to which is kind of therapeutic to have something else examining your thoughts. Don't take it too serious of course but it's helped me work out a few things | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/12/25 03:12 PM |

| 2 | Getting back into dating after divorce, how do you rebuild confidence for conversations?I can give you some advice. If she brings up your divorce all she really wants to know is are you still missing her. I'm in a 5-month long relationship now That is the first after my divorce and other than a few moments of weakness, I've tried to limit her knowledge of what happened. How hard is it out there?I will second this. I was married for 20 years and when I share that with women they see a stability in it. How hard is it out there?I think a realistic expectation is good for you to know beforehand. I found somebody on match almost immediately but I had to evaluate what is important to me versus what I want in a perfect scenario. I am not settling but I am compromising. I don't know how she can do what she did, but she's giving me no closure too so I'm pretty sure she's just garbage person at this point. Anyway, I would suggest you do what feels right.
