I was reading this when I first started dating after leaving a bad marriage. I have a wonderful relationship now, but I always come back to keep myself from falling into old thought patterns my marriage created in me. I remind myself constantly to check in on myself and my happiness.

I always hear about the holding-a-fish profiles, but when I was on it was all cyclists. Guys on expensive bikes with super tight speciality outfits and helmets to cover the bald. I'm all for fitness, but it was all they would show... and it was dozens and dozens of them!

I am one of those who doesn't think bigger is better. Big hurts me, but there's also been some that are too small still. So yeah, I'm the goldilocks of dick.

Where is he going? If there's even a small chance of him slipping away, I don't want him. Critics will say that mentality will be used as an excuse for bad behavior on our part. No, because we are not bad people! If you think we are inherently bad it's probably because you're bad. Why is it considered ridiculous to want to be with someone who wants to be with us?

Being beautiful doesn't protect you from being manipulated, it only makes you more of a target.

My ex still acts like I owe him an explanation for why I left. This is the reason, and the funny thing is it means I can never really tell him because hearing something I don't like is impossible for him. He's like some mythical monster that both demands and rejects explanations simultaneously.

One thing I could never forgive my ex for was when we had a newborn and I was talking about how hard it was being a stay-at-home nursing mother. He just dismissed me saying "you were the one that wanted kids so bad." Mind you, we married with the plan to have children. I can't believe I stuck around for 15 years after that comment, but I felt so stuck with no income of my own. I volunteered and worked part time for a decade to get a full time job and left as soon as I did. There were other issue…

I'm continuing to furnish and decorate my new house after moving out from my ex 20 months ago. I just got some amazing deals on a dish set and some bedside tables. I only have one more wall to paint, and I saved it for last because I'm doing a cool mural.

I left 16 months ago. My divorce was final 3 months ago because of antiquated laws in my state that harm women. I was sure that I'd keep my vows no matter how much I was uncomfortable in his presence because "love takes work." Then I, the most naturally cheerful person on the planet, actually considered killing myself not to have to deal with his controlling anger and intensity. I figured the kids would handle a divorce better than a dead mother. Edit: Should add that I was married 17 years. Lif…

I'll be 40 in two months, and I'm happier than I've ever been in all these categories! Yes, I'm divorced.

Omg, this was my favorite song when I was very little. I drunkenly heard it again this summer and freaked out with happiness.

I always remember the beautiful women I see in documentaries. These scientists or historians definitely do not have every perfect feature. But they go from a 6 to a 10 as soon as they start speaking intelligently and passionately. I aspire to have the confidence they have and don't waste any time examining the angle of my nose.

I'd play a few rounds of golf without worrying about making the dudes behind me mad because I'm not good and go slow.

Possibilities: that is what being single means to me. None of my whims ever get shut down anymore. No more scheduling myself around someone else.

When I offered a different opinion on how to do something, it was disrespect. But when I was offered a different opinion, it was teaching.

I cannot wrap my head around what about women standing up for their preferences and comfort is "extreme." That just makes me sad. I guess when they told me we were equal they meant I have an equal opportunity to cater to men as men do.

Where I work, which leans just slightly toward more women, everyone uses Ms. just to avoid that bs. I like it. There's never any correcting someone awkwardly. It erases that need to be defined by age or men. I wish everywhere would adopt the practice.

Carrie and Charlotte on Sex in the City, but especially Carrie. I think someone in this sub wrote a great comment about how the entire show and movie was just about her being a forever gf to Big with him even leaving her at the altar and she still takes him back!

I'm in my 40s and it is a red flag to me if he hasn't had a long relationship in the past and lived with someone. I'm not about to be the first try!

I gotta say, being someone who naturally doesn't like texting makes guys crazy. If we were emailing, I'm sure I'd be saying too much, but since so much talking is text now I seem quiet and it's like they can't get enough.

I think there are plenty of honest, loyal men out there. The problem is that even the "good" ones still sort of exert a certain superiority over women, probably unconsciously. They are told directly and indirectly since they were little that they need to be the ones to take charge, and to their own detriment. I don't think men are all evil, but I do think it's practically impossible to be treated truly equally by one, even ones who are trying to do the right thing. I'm just not interested in tak…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
