"I am very outspoken about violence against children, and any time I questioned or criticized parents who use violence as a disciplinary tactic, I was called a "judgy bitch", so I decided that would be a good moniker for the blog." Wow. My respect level for you just jumped up about 100x's. The majority of women I know in the RP blogosphere are extremely pro-aggressive discipline and I'm definitely not. I never felt like I could fully relate to some of them because of it. Thanks for popping in an…

Most men don't find female humor funny, but most women do find male humor funny. I think that's the difference. The biggest thing I've noticed is that women are not as self-depreciating as men are when telling jokes. That tends to be the type of comedy that most men find funny, but most women won't intentionally subject themselves to it.

I like a lot of things that JB talks about on her blog. That being said, women who call themselves a "bitch" like it's a badge of honor are usually not high-value women. There's nothing cute about calling yourself a bitch. That one is up there with women calling themselves "princess" or "diva" or whatever. Her advice is sound, but her blog name makes me cringe. Calling yourself a bitch like it's a thing to be admired? Nope.

I dislike other people's children as well. Not EVERY kid other than mine, but a fair majority. So many lazy parents raising kids that turn into brats. I know that's not the child's fault, but that doesn't prevent me from disliking those kids either.

See, this is why I love this sub. Everyone who responded gave helpful, straightforward advice. Thanks so much for that, RPW. Sorry I couldn't directly respond to each comment, the kids have a lot going on this week and I have to be quick here Many of you mentioned that I aught to just let him be. I think in 90% of cases that's what I will do. We both have annoying habits, and he surely puts up with mine. This is one of those things that is just not worth causing a fuss over. He's been this way s…

I see what you mean. I do get super wound up by other people and their emotions. Some body is crying? I'm crying. Somebody is raising their voice? Guess who is yelling too. When he starts complaining, I become very negative and depressed inwardly. I really need to work on some emotional self-control.

Yeah, he totally doesn't want help. I've tried offering solutions, no matter how good the idea is he shoots it down. So I let that drop because it seems unhelpful to offer solutions that are unwanted. He does this with his friends too, so it's not just my help he doesn't want.

He keeps mentioning that he would like to go to the gym. I have a membership, but perhaps its time to get him one too. That's a good idea. My husband and my dad are super different, but my husband has some strengths my dad doesn't have.

Makes sense, thank you. I've never really talked with him about it before so maybe I should just mention it once and drop it. If he works on it, great. If not, let it go and work on myself.

Yeah, I think empathy is something I should work on. I'm a "fixer" for sure, I need to knock it off because its not helping

I absolutely think he needs more time with the guys. That's something I hadn't considered.

We've been married 7 years. I never liked the complaining, but he controlled it a lot better when we dated/were engaged. It didn't kick in until we moved near his family after marriage who are insane complainers/victims/horribly entitled. Even he can't stand them, which is why we moved away a year and a half ago. I feel like its getting better the longer we aren't around his mom and sisters. I'm glad he realized their influence was negative without me saying anything. Its definitely a difference…

Ohhhhh Lord, Dr. Phil was my jam. I haven't watched that show in ages though. I could easily pork on another 30 lbs from that show alone, and I certainly don't need the help in that area. Haha!

No Greater Joy has some good things, but I would caution people not to take their childrearing advice. Kids have died from parents who follow their crappy parenting advice. Some of Debi Pearl's relationship advice is fantastic though. I also have a free subscription to Above Rubies magazine. It's a Quiverfull magazine (I'm definitely NOT quiverfull) and I wouldn't take fashion advice from any of these chicks either. That being said, there are some really encouraging articles in there about marri…

Definitely Christian (Calvinistic). I hesitate to say what affiliation specifically. My husband and I both serve within the church so I need to be cautious when posting here. There are certainly some aspects of RedPill that don't jive with the Bible, and I hate to give the impression that my church "teaches" Red Pill. It's just coincidental that some of the beliefs about gender roles, leadership, respect and love line up. Some churches within our theological affiliation have received negative pr…

Woah, I'm gonna look that leechblocker thing up! That is super useful, thanks for mentioning that.

You mentioning crocheting(sp?) in your post inspired me. I went to Micheal's a few hours ago and bought a crochet hook and some yarn. I think I wanna teach myself how to crochet with my newly-found spare time free of Facebook. :P

Oh man, I've been down that road and it's a self-perpetuating cycle. Once you oversleep one day by accident, it makes you tired for the next 24 hours. So you take an extra nap or whatever. Then the next thing you know, you are sleeping like 15 hours a day and constantly feel exhausted for no real reason. Apart from a medical condition like sleep apnea for instance, the only solution to that problem is to FORCE yourself to get up early and stay awake the entire day for a few days. And change your…

Yeah, I think it totally varies from person to person. I know people that seem to spend a very reasonable amount of time on facebook and it never gets out of hand. Others can't even control themselves with it at all (cough cough, me).

I get what you mean by this. :) . I think perhaps "luxury" was the wrong word to use. What I mean by that is this: not every family is in a position to have the mother stay home. I feel very grateful that my husband puts in extra hours to make this happen. Not every family is able to make it work financially (especially those with tremendous amounts of student debt.) I've had several friends who really wanted to become a SAHM, but their debt was just so large from school that they had no choice …

I'm really glad you don't want to kill yourself anymore. Nobody should feel that way ever, and I'm glad you pulled through it. But two things: You should still seek some professional help. You've dealt with serious trauma throughout your entire life, and no amount of RPW can fix that for you. Please don't put the ladies here on a pedestal. All women are like that, the only difference is that those of us who frequent this sub have more self-awareness and are actively trying to rein in our impulse…

I love WNTW. Both the UK and the US version. I believe its on Netflix or Hulu now. The fashion advice given is classic and realistic. The makeup tips are very simple and not overdone. I do hate the tendency to hack off everyone's hair. I understand that a lot of these women come in with hair so damaged that there is no choice, but still. I cringe every time they give some women a pixie cut and declare her sexy.

I would have gone for something lighthearted rather than a serious jab (Like a shrug I'd wreck her too babe. wink), your boy is capable of sticking up for himself and something not-too-serious gives the BFF a hint that nobody cares about her dumbshit outrage. But a boyfriend with a girl for a BFF? NOPE.

I like her voice, it's too bad her lyrics are downright obnoxious. On another note, she isn't even that big. She's clearly not skinny, but why she's writing a landwhale anthem is kind of confusing to me.

PKK is a different group than the one these women belong to. PKK is a terrorist organization in it's own right. There are common links between the PKK and many organizations over there right now, it doesn't mean that they are the same thing.

Okay, who is this Michelle Money girl? She is cracking me up. "You are kidding yourselves, your husband notices and he hates it". I love her already. And I agree that shaving makes everything you do to your face look better. Makeup especially. My only problem is that I sometimes break out after doing this. I use the regular Noxema razors that I use on my legs. Maybe buying a facial razor won't do that? I wonder if that little moisturizing strip at the top of the Noxema razors is too much for my …

I knew he was the one when I saw how he treated my clients. Before I quit my job to be a homemaker, I ran a group home for adults with intellectual disabilities. My clients were often treated rudely by people in the community, or treated like children by people who were trying to be nice. Most people were just afraid or uncomfortable around them and avoided my clients completely. It was depressing, the people I cared for wanted more than anything to participate in their community but were treate…

Your experience in sororities will vary wildly based on the sorority and the school. At the last university my husband was in, the sorority girls were nasty, vapid women who rode the CC like it was their last day on earth. Now he has transferred to a better college, and the sororities here are much different. The girls here seem classy, well behaved and feminine. If I were still a student and were going to school here I would certainly consider it. My suggestion is to do your research. All greek…

I wish I had listened to my dad when he told me that my high school boyfriend was a piece of shit. 3 years dating this kid who came from a dysfunctional family, was functionally illiterate and couldn't so much as hold a job at McDonald's. My dad warned me in no uncertain terms that dating him would be a mistake that I would one day regret, and he was absolutely correct. Thank God it ended at 19, I cringe thinking about what would have happened if I ended up pregnant or married to this guy. Of co…
