Great words of wisdom friend. Congratulations.

You and me both brother. We’ll know better moving forward.

Hundreds probably thousands of times all seemed well then something said connected with a negative thought or association, and the mood shifted to anger/brooding leaving you wondering what the heck just happened. So yeah, been there done that.

Mine pounded adderall which was great for the pre-existing paranoia.

I hear you. That is rather enjoyable. Not that I have any recent experience.

Seen some of those. Thank you. I’m not going to deny having some covert narcissist tendencies myself and am working on it. Hopefully most of us recognize we aren’t saints either.

Thanks for that perspective.

If you don’t love her and don’t think it’s worth saving, don’t make things worse by following her and having kids. You are smart and will get the degree soon enough. Consider living life for you not her. But first, try to communicate with her if you haven’t.

Thanks for saying that. I do believe it.

I was tempted to put that in my post but controlled myself to keep it serious. Coincidentally… watched Limp’s Woodstock set last night. Can do stuff like that without guilt these days!

Yeah regarding intimate… the side I loved is usually the one in my dreams. Good advice.

Deep. Thanks. Looks like an interesting topic for which I need to become more familiar.

Wow, so we are both dealing with spouses who have toxic narcissism and paranoid personality disorder. My advice if you want it, keep documenting all the accusations and your proof you don’t murder puppies. But also detach as much as possible. I’ve told my x she frightens me because I have no idea what she or her mind is capable of concocting. She being the toxic evil. Her mind being the illness. Also, sounds like you are doing this, but do share the things that are happening to you in confidence…

Consider asking for recommendations on an affordable mediator if you and stbx can’t come to agreement… given she’d see one. Be prepared to give your attorney a rundown on your financial situation. It will be tough to keep attorney expenses below $10k unless you can agree on stuff yourselves. It doesn’t sound complicated so best wishes to you.

Ha… I had that exact thought when I walked by the aisle of flowers. I might be spending thousands a month in alimony but I’m saving $40 on those damn flowers.

Great advice. I got my Walmart $.99 boxes and some better candy bars. The donuts are a great idea. Maybe even $5 sushi or Whopper Wednesday for dinner!! Thanks for thinking of others.

Pretty sure you were married to my wife. Nothing positive in over two decades. No good memories. It’s amazing. What a miserable life to lead. Someone once told me that’s the punishment they get for choosing not to get help and continuing the behavior. BTW I was like you just sailing along thinking maybe it’s normal, finding happiness easily enough where I could. All the while being emotionally abused/tormented on a daily basis. Maybe we are f’d up in a good way.

So yours can’t be wrong, apologize, or see reality either. I never thought these issues would be as prevalent as they are. Thought I was 1 in a million! Thankful for Reddit.

I got accused of stealing piddly shit after pre and post separation which is hilarious considering the $$& she got and is getting.

Mine sees clues in everything that result in circumstantial evidence or proof in her mind that just isn’t true.

I was there too. Kept trying to see the positive. Thinking maybe it was me who was the problem. Sometimes there would be a couple days without interrogations or my words being misinterpreted to pick fights, then it’d start again. Never any peace. Never free from anxiety not knowing what was coming. Until now. Good luck. Sounds like you are a good guy who will do fine.

Mine set up a shitty camera on me and presented these Rorschach ink blot pics I looked at on my phone that she translated as all kinds of women. It’s somewhat funny yet not because it’s a mental illness.

So it’s the physical attraction that keeps us coming back? Fear of loneliness? What you said rings true in my world too. I just hope I can find someone someday that isn’t that way.

I never knew so many men dealt with this issue. And here I thought I was special. No apologies. No admitting to being wrong ever. Pulling things out that happened 20 years ago that weren’t terrible to begin with. Stonewalling is my personal favorite.

I’m was married to a toxic, bipolar, paranoid personality disorder stricken spouse too. They’ll make you think you are the abuser. Confuse you and make you defend yourself until your head is spinning. If you’re like me you didn’t know how you were supposed to act so you accepted blame constantly. It only took me like 20 years to wise up and after reading several articles and books on emotional abuse. I’m not faultless but my advice is run and enjoy life without the garbage.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
