Also TX going through a divorce. Once she moved out, my attorney advised me to transfer all funds into accounts that she did not have access to. As long as it was ONLY the funds that I earned and not hers. The reason for this was because she had taken a bunch of money out of our joint accounts when she left and put it into accounts that I did not have access to. He said that it was important for me to protect myself and make sure that I could live, survive, and cover the bills and since she had …

100% agree with this statement. Never again. Not going to ever get into this trap again. The first divorce cost me $60K. This one has already cost me $20K and we don't sign the final decree for another 2 weeks and I'm on the hook for another $20K over the next couple of years. Not going to do it again for sure.

How in the hell can she get half of the house that you brought to the marriage? All of the property that I had prior is off-limits in my divorce. Mine started in April and SHOULD have been done by Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, she cannot pay her attorney so dreamed up a way to fire her which delayed everything. We signed the mitigation agreement on Oct 1st but the final court date is now on Jan 29th. I hate the limbo state and waiting. Congrats that you are just about done with this horrible chap…

Brother....I can not agree with you more. I finally went out and purchased a body wash that was what I wanted and not what SHE wanted me to smell like. I feel like a new man and am quite happy. I felt more confident when I was out today. More like myself and the man that I once knew. It is time to be ME again. It is time for ALL OF US to be ourselves again.

Right? We started a business last year and it took off immediately. We grew quickly. Our birthdays are mid March and only a few days apart and we went to a coastal resort to celebrate. We had a fantastic time. Great meals, great sex, did a Dolphin watch ride. Just fantastic. Three weeks later, she's talking about separating and then she up and moves out taking WAY more than we spoke about. A few days later, she filed and I had to shutter the business. I'm just glad that I kept my day job (IT bas…

This is both of our 2nd marriage and we were only married for 5 years. I'm 44 and she's 45. Luckily kids aren't an issue as I am the only one with them and they are both grown.

Not at all. The agreement was written up and signed by both sides after only 1 1/2 hours of mediation. So that day went just fine. All that was left was to write-up the draft of the decree itself and have both sides sign and then file it with the court. That's where the STBXW's side has faltered with her council now filing to withdraw representing her.

Congrats. My STBXW and I signed the agreement on Oct 1st and my attorney just sent me the draft decree last week. Now we just need to do the final filing. He's been trying to push it out a bit to give me extra time to build some funds for the debts I'm trying to finish paying off. Damn good lawyer. I too am a remote worker and I think the most challenging part has been the lack of human interaction on a regular basis. I pretty much leave the house 1 or 2 times a week to go grocery, or whatever…

That is odd for sure. When I adopted my 1st wife's kids, the attorney and judge were both very clear in stating that the biological father no longer had any obligation to continue to pay child support. I don't know of any state where that is not the case.

This is an awesome statement and exactly what I was going to recommend. Make sure she fully understands how you feel and the point at which you are right now. Perhaps if she knows how close you are to taking the next step, she will come to her senses and try to figure things out with some help. If she still refuses, I have to be honest in saying that you are probably better off and just taking the first steps to separating and filing. If she's not willing to work on things after you explain …

My divorce was finalized on 10/1 (I live in the San Antonio area). We were only married for 5 years so she didn't qualify for alimony without being able to prove some huge thing like infidelity or abuse. She tried the "Mental and Emotional Abuse" route but ultimately gave up and didn't get crap since I was able to prove there wasn't anything like that. According to my attorney, infidelity could have been used if it could be proven that it was what lead to the divorce. Moving out is a big mistake…

Have your attorney get the sheriff involved. That's how my EX (EX as of YESTERDAY!!!!) had me served since it didn't have the process server fee included.
