Don’t do it man. When a woman gets to the point where she is willing to leave you that bridge cannot be uncrossed. I’m speaking from experience because I was foolish enough to attempt reconciliation after separation. All it did was waste time and energy that could have been used to move on with life, create fresh wounds, and re-traumatize the kids.

It’s an adrenaline and ego-fueled act most of the time, however it really doesn’t concern you. The only way out is to do something you may never have done before - prioritize yourself. Do it with complete selfishness and no apologies to anyone. You’re no good to anybody until you figure out who you are post-divorce and build a new life. I didn’t see my kids for over two years after my divorce. During that time I worked seven days a week between two jobs, recovered financially, recovered physical…

You’re only human man. But please do keep moving forward towards legal dissolution. You can waste a whole lot of time in that separation and one foot in, one foot out pergatory. Most times when she’s telling you she wants a divorce she’s already cheated. Don’t put yourself through the hell of trying to overcome that. Rip the band aid so you can start the true healing process.

Makes you wonder if they’re even capable of what we understand as love. Hate to say it but they truly behave like parasites. When a situation no longer serves them they just move on with no remorse. No respect for common history, nothing. I had to go no contact when I got divorced, not out of spite but because I knew I would always love her. Give yourself grace and hopefully you’ll be blessed.

Grab your nuts big dawg. If she wants to live like she’s single she needs to go. You need to consult a lawyer to figure out what your rights are, but please do not prolong the situation as you will only be torturing yourself. When a previously stable woman starts putting her children and her home second she’s gone and there is no bringing her back.

Honest answer: The ONLY chance you have is to swiftly file for divorce and call her bluff. If she’s serious it saves everyone misery and gets it over with. If it was a cry for attention it disciplines that behavior. She already knows that you love her and your kids very deeply. Don’t degrade yourself by crying, and begging, and “trying harder”. Think strategically. You are now at war young fella.

Very long story short: I ended up with 50/50 through the courts. However, when my eldest turned 14 he elected to live with me full time so mom threw a temper tantrum and sent them all.

Block that chick. There’s nothing to really talk about as both parties know what needs to be done. I had to block my ex from the very beginning because I’d be doing well and then get these floods of emotional or abusive texts out of nowhere. I couldn’t progress. While we were still parenting she dropped the kids in my driveway and I dropped them at hers. Literally haven’t spoken to her in five years.

Yeah man. The coldest moment of my life was when I showed up at her job and she looked through me like I wasn’t even there. 20 years ain’t mean a damn thing.

It sounds super corny but helping others really brought me out of my rut. I used to coach my kids’ sports teams year round - at least until my ex ran off with them to another city. Of course with no kids I wasn’t thinking about coaching, but the following baseball season the park reached out to see if I was coaching again that year. I told them no and thought nothing else of it. Well a few weeks later I got another call that they were short on coaches and they asked me to reconsider. I don’t kno…

I would say let it be man. You would only victimize him and yourself. He sounds like a great kid and he’s bonded to you as his father. Our greatest role as fathers is protectors of those we love. It may be agonizing not to know for sure, but take that punch so he doesn’t have to.

Been a decade for me and I dream of my ex at least weekly. I still love her. Always will. I also deeply hate her, which keeps me in check. Life post divorce has been very good to me but I still miss her sour, perpetually ungrateful ass.

⬆️ ⬆️ ⬆️ ⬆️ ⬆️ This is the correct answer. You must go no contact. Women thrive on attention. She’ll be kind enough and just flirty enough to keep her hooks in you. Don’t buy into it, you’re being friend-zoned by your own ex-wife. I blocked mine on phone and text to eliminate the random sentimental calls and messages. Or calling me with her problems like we’re still married. E-mail communication only. Cold, informational, and very much to the point. Contactless child exchanges. She drops them in…

Gotta work up the courage to divorce and move on my man. She may like you, she may appreciate you, she may even still love you, but she will never ever respect you again. A man living without the respect of his wife is already dead.

Women are parasitic - they move from one host to another. It is nature’s way. You cannot hate nature. Accept it and move on.

Don’t do it. I did, and it was a shitshow. Very similar to the scenario you describe. Separation was very hard on me at first, but I found my groove and moved on. Then the ex starts snooping around again after long-term no contact. I did it “for the kids”. Only I was imagining reconciling with the woman that’d left me (which was bad enough bc that was such a shitty person). But what I got instead was ten times worse. Bite the bullet and get a second job. I worked a second job / 7 days a week for three years and ended up in the best financial position of my life. I bought a fantastic home and recovered everything I’d lost in the divorce and more. Just sold the house for double what I paid for it. The trysts with the girlies at the second job also helped me to get over the raw emotions of the divorce.

Keep all contact to a minimum and do your best not to keep tabs on her life. Don’t compete in the recovery Olympics. Two years is not excessive, in my opinion. You loved her and planned your whole life around her, after all.
/r/Divorce_Men03/11/24 09:29 AM

Only time can heal those wounds brother. Cut contact to the bare minimum and get the divorce over with ASAP. There is nothing left to salvage when she can verbalize what she already has. You can waste years of your life in this purgatory if you allow it. Embrace the fact that you have been set free from the thankless drudgery of being a husband and go live your life!

It’ll take a while to break that emotional dependency, but sooner or later you’ll discover that you have been set free. Being a husband is truly a thankless job. 50/50 custody gives you enough time to be a great father, but also enough free time to pursue the next chapters in your life. It’s cool once you find the sweet spot. Don’t know why your wife left you? Most of us don’t. The truth would probably hurt more than remaining in the dark, so don’t pry because it doesn’t matter. Get the divorce …

You are not a chump. Most men would die for their families. That includes dying inside as well. Don’t make light of the sacrifices you’ve made to try and salvage your family. You were still trying to look out for everyone’s best interests - as a great father and husband would. I’m sure you love your wife on some level as a friend, as well. Your wisdom and foresight know exactly what the world has waiting for her. A lot of times for men it’s less about possessiveness, or being a sucker, and more …

You’re attempting a logical assessment of a completely illogical situation, which will only run you crazy. You must accept: 1) You will never know the complete truth. 2) Women’s behavior is not dictated by logic. You can’t effectively “piece everything together” because the reasons provided for failure of your relationship are most likely lies and gaslighting. They jump on another dick first, then work backwards to create the justifications for doing so. At that point you are the scapegoat and y…

Great advice. I coached my kids in youth sports year-round before the ex took off with them to another city. After the initial shock and embarrassment, I decided to continue coaching even though I didn’t have kids playing anymore. Those teams saved my life man. They gave me a purpose at a time when I struggled to redefine myself.

Modern ladies have no interest in being mothers just as they have no interest in being wives. My ex blew our unit up and we had picture perfect kids who were top students and very high achieving athletes. Didn’t matter. The zeitgeist emphasizes remaining “true” to oneself and the pursuit of “happiness” above all else. However, their behaviors are not without consequence to themselves. Many are shocked when they do not enjoy the unconditional deference and admiration afforded mothers throughout h…

Well, I think with the way most men were treated during divorce, we tend to wonder if women are even capable of love. Their “love” is about loving the way you make them feel. It’s completely selfish and has very little to do with caring about you as a person. I could never trust that again.
/r/Divorce_Men06/11/23 04:18 AM

I’ll play devil’s advocate and say divorce is the one time we need to “woman-up”. We are so terminally wired for mangnanimity, provision, and responsibility that we almost always end up getting fucked in the process. Divorce is most definitely the time to be a nasty, selfish cunt. You are under assault and your life’s work is at stake.

Different time, different era. Starting a family and providing for them was a man’s responsibility, and we were raised to be men, not gigolos. Women no longer operate in good faith during marriages, so I think most guys on here would avoid marriage in the modern era.

Lotsa weak sauce in the comments. Child rearing is the mother’s responsibility. Always has been. The same dudes who got punked into being Mr. Mom during marriage now recommend becoming personal babysitters for exes in divorce. What you fail to realize is divorce is only possible precisely because you ARE a “good dad”. Good Dads allow women to have their cake and eat it too. Divorce is calculated. And I damn well bet “single mother with no logistical help” is not part of her plans. “Tired of this…

In order to be an effective negotiator the other party must believe you are prepared to walk away from the deal. As soon as my ex told me she wanted separation and divorce she started playing games with my access to the kids. The system is rigged man. I could prove that my ex hadn’t reported over 350k in investments and nobody in the process gave a flying fuck. I couldn’t believe it. Even my fucking lawyer was nonchalant about it. My advice - get this over with ASAP so you can focus on your rebuild. My really unpopular advice - you can’t want more for a child than it’s own mother. If she doesn’t see the value of the kids having a father then fuck it. I tore my ACL just days after the divorce was finalized (working on my revenge bod). On top of that I’d just lost my health insurance through her employment. I went from a man on fire to flabby, depressed, and borderline alcoholic in no time. Saw my ex at a funeral around that time and she looked like dynamite. Rip the band-aid. You will regret any more time wasted, trust me. Stop trying to rationalize and use logic — you’ll make yourself crazy. Women are not logical thinkers. If she files first she can’t play the victim (her favorite role). My ex expressed her wishes for separation and divorce for years and had basically abandoned the marriage towards the end, yet played betrayed victim to the maxx with family and friends once I finally filed. To this day she frames our divorce as me abandoning our fa…

Hey man you’re only human. Losing your family is traumatic and people tend to trivialize a man losing everything he’s ever worked for. Sometimes you just gotta dull that pain to survive. Yep. I’m not Uncle Dad. I will not be reduced to a playmate or your buddy. After the divorce I still had to stand for discipline, hard work, and respect for education. The ex took the ridiculous trips and was constantly trying to buy their affection. I stayed the course and stood for my principles, and today I have wonderful adults with whom I enjoy very close relationships.

As soon as my ex made it clear she was serious about separation I went no contact. I like to pretend like it was because I’m an ice cold pimp, but in reality I’m just a coward that runs from my problems. Anywho, she did eventually come back wanting to give us another go, but I just couldn’t deal with the “new” her. Don’t feel pressured to pretend like you’re better. Fuck everybody else. Divorce can be extremely traumatic for men and nobody cares, except when advising you to “get over it”. Time and no contact worked for me. No contact meaning no contact, even if co-parenting. The schedule has been decided by the court so there is nothing to talk about. I think young men are coming around. Ladies have irreparably damaged the institution of marriage by not acting in good faith. The young fellas see this. Plus, I think in our time we imagined we were securing something of supreme value. Today’s ladies will “date” any Tom, Dick, and Harry from the internet and have no interest in the responsibilities of being wives or mothers. The definition of worthless. Marriage for what?

“Women should have never been given the same standing as men. That has wrecked stable society.” Brave take in these days and times brother, but hardcore truth. Yep. Worked closely with a freshly divorced gentleman in my first job right out of college. Looking back that guy was obviously in so much pain but I felt absolutely nothing. I completely feel you my man. Divorce is a long, cruel experience and only people who’ve been through it can understand. I lost all of my friends too. It’s a very weird phenomenon. It hurts now but your wife is doing you a big favor. In the divorce proceedings fight for everything you are owed. A lot of guys screw themselves by falling on their swords and s…

When women tell you they want a divorce it’s an attempt to take your balls. They’ve built up an irrational hatred and want to bring you to your knees. Fuck em. Get ice cold and prepare for war. Let yourself feel the pain man. You can’t run from it. You’re human. The depth of pain and emotions I felt during that time made my life so much richer. I had been comfortably numb for so long. Cry, shout, beg, do whatever you need to do - in private. Over time you will build up calluses to those types of thoughts. It just takes time.

Women are delusional and have an innate need to lie to themselves. They cannot and will not accept fault or responsibility for anything. Life is always happening —to— them. Don’t flatter yourself over her tears. She’s weaving a web of lies that casts herself as the victim. My wife did the same. Cheated. Lied. Stayed out all times of night. Neglected the kids. Moved out. When I’d finally had enough and filed, the story suddenly became what I was “doing to our family”. I was evil and heartless, un…

Would you pay $250 for a $25 pizza? Marriage used to be the “price” for access to a woman’s womb. For her to agree to having your children, you had to agree to take care of her for life and legally bind yourself to the agreement. Women today literally fuck random men off of the internet. The majority of children are now born to unwed mothers. So I ask, why the fuck do men continue to pay $250 for a $25 pizza?

Yes. My ex turned into a completely different person after our last child. Totally evil towards me and irresponsible as a parent where she’d been the model mother prior. Many of us have been there brother. It’s a wicked time but it gets better. Material shit comes and goes, don’t sweat it. Your wealth is in your health and your spiritual wellbeing. Prioritize those two things and everything else will flow. Your kids will be fine. We micromanage kids too much nowadays anyway. The first time you hear the d-word it’s already over. She’s been considering it for quite a while by then and probably already has a fuck buddy. Do not procrastinate. All you will be doing is prolonging a shitty relationship with a shitty person. You will waste valuable time that you’ll need to heal and move on with your life. Trust me. I think sometimes you have to consider employing reverse psychology. From what I experienced in divorce, a lot of it for the woman was a power play. She felt she had this newfound power to make me bend me to her will. I was always a great father. I don’t mind tooting my own horn on that one. My ex knew that as well. Because of that she figured controlling access to our children would be her method of controlling me. I had to set the precedent early that I don’t play those games. If you want a fa…

File first. Female lawyer. Pick a lawyer actually located within the jurisdiction for your case. Divorce is handled by counties where I live. I’m in a major metro, however my lawyer was from a small firm three blocks away from my local county courthouse. My ex hired bigshots from the big city and got slaughtered. They seemed distant and disinterested (and charged her out of the ass) while my lawyer knew everyone at the courthouse by first name and had gone to high school with many of them. It IS…

Sorry to hear your situation. Be proactive and get this behind you as quickly as possible. Otherwise you can waste years in limbo. I wasted seven after my ex’s initial wishy-washiness, trying to make it work for the children. Big mistake. There is life to be lived brother. If you have kids they will adapt and be just fine. Split parenting is not ideal, but it’s better than the soul-crushing existence of cohabitating with a woman who no longer loves, desires, or respects you.

Supervised visitation is a waste of everyone’s time, plus she gets the added pleasure of seeing you dance to her tune every week. It’s a power trip for her and supremely emasculating for yourself. It will also eventually get to the point where everyone hates to see you coming - even the child. Sometimes we have to be content with knowing we tried our best (which does not guarantee success). If you are not dealing with infidelity or threats of divorce you should stay. Marriages have stages and you signed up for the long haul. The people on here advocating leaving for “happiness” are no better than the ladies that destroy homes for temporary jollies. You are a utility. That was your destiny the moment you were born. That’s all you ever will be to any other woman. Find creative ways to “release” and get your ass back to work.

Wrong. Marriage on your part is about responsibility, not “happiness”. You will be willfully making your children’s lives harder in order to pursue selfish motives.
