Ex wants to meet upWe have two young boys together and I know she previously had cancer, so I was just worried it something serious but everyone’s right, she could share this information via text or a phone call. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/01/26 06:52 PM
Ex wants to meet upI almost spit out my coffee when I read this one! Hilarious, I appreciate you! | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/01/26 06:47 PM
Ex wants to meet upI just got out of a meeting but I appreciate all of your responses, you guys always keep it real with me. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/01/26 06:46 PM
UpdateI have to, she’s lost my respect and trust. Time to rebuild! Thanks for the response! | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/11/25 11:25 AM
UpdateAh man, I’m sorry to hear that! Lies and deception are the worse. I hope you can find peace in knowing you gave everything to try to make it work. If she is putting herself in a position to lose you then she doesn’t deserve you! | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/11/25 11:24 AM
UpdateYeah I’m trying to set those boundaries early on because she has always been indecisive our whole relationship. Not with me but as far as making plans, cancelling, rescheduling, procrastination. Even up until yesterday she asked me three times to reschedule the drop off time for Thanksgiving which I respectively declined. Of course if it was emergency I would oblige but not when she’s just getting a dopamine hit by controlling the situation. I appreciate the response! Happy turkey day | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/11/25 11:21 AM
UpdateI appreciate this perspective! I think I’ll get to this point eventually, but I’m still healing and need to disassociate myself from her before I can consider a co parenting relationship. She was very heartless in the end and I’m having trouble even looking at her at the moment. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/11/25 11:16 AM
UpdateThe lack of accountability and their avoidance is disturbing. I know personally, I could never do that to someone I care deeply about. Thanks man, I hope the same for you! | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/11/25 11:13 AM
UpdateYou’re right! I wasn’t intending on them passing it along, more like me handing her the bag with the notebook inside but I agree with you. I don’t want them to feel stuck in the middle at all. Thanks for the honesty! | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/11/25 07:54 PM
UpdateMan temptation is real but I believe how we handle ourselves post-divorce will show our true colors. I don’t need another woman in my life to solidify my self worth but these partners who jump from a non abusive marriage straight into a rebound relationship are asking for misery. I intend on being single for a very long time! Date, have fun, but build myself back up so no woman can ever knock me down again. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/11/25 05:11 PM
UpdateGreat question, she’s had every opportunity leading up to the divorce to come home and fix our marriage but she chose not to. Even when she saw how much it impacted our boys, especially our 8 year old, she chose her new friends and life over being a family again. That’s when I tapped out and accepted things for what they are. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/11/25 04:45 PM
UpdateThis is great advice, thank you sir! I’m gonna implement this as soon as possible. Was also thinking about sending a notebook with the kids during exchanges to provide any small updates in hopes it will eliminate any need to text. She just gets in these texting rampages, she’s always been that way and it drives me nuts! | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/11/25 04:40 PM
UpdateTough but I hear you. I guess I just used the label since we were inseparable for 17 years. But you’re right, the end result was ruthless. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/11/25 04:35 PM
UpdateI’m telling you, all it takes is one toxic friend and poof the woman you married is gone. I feel bad because I know she’s truly confused and lost but then again she’s making a conscious choice everyday to not have me in her life and that is enough closure for me. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/11/25 04:08 PM
UpdateThat’s all I’m asking for right now lol! | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/11/25 04:04 PM
UpdateI think no contact is the way to go for the foreseeable future. I’m at a point where I don’t even want to co parent with her. Parallel parenting is my choice for now. Obviously I would adjust if there is any negative impact to my children but for me to be the best father for them right now, I’ll need to completely eliminate her from my thoughts and presence. I need to heal after 17 years together, she left me in a pretty tough spot emotionally and financially so I need to put all my focus there … | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/11/25 04:03 PM
Just checking in, how's everyone's mental health?I’m finally at a point where I don’t want anything to do with my ex. Our divorce was finalized a week ago and she’s shown her true colors over and over again. It sucks because I’m really close with her family but I need to distance myself from that train wreck. Parallel parenting here we come! | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/11/25 03:53 AM
How long did it take for you to date again?6 months single after a 17 year relationship and I haven’t even tried dating. I’m 32 so the last time I was single I was like 15 years old 😂 Each person is different when it comes to healing but I would trust your gut if it doesn’t feel right just take a break and focus on your daily tasks. Get your mind and body right, strengthen relationships with your family/friends if possible. Those are my main focuses right now outside of being a good father to my boys. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/11/25 03:01 PM
Guys, when will my heartache fade?Six months out from separation and about a month to go until my divorce is final. Together 17 years and I’m finally moving past the depressed/emotional stage. My headspace was really bad up until I found out she recently hooked up with a co-worker. I don’t know if a part of me died or I just gave up all hope, maybe a combination of the two. Give yourself grace, it will take time to rebuild. Finding happiness in small victories has helped me as of recently. Instead of looking at what I lost or do… | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/10/25 05:32 AM
Not mentally ready for the first night aloneThis! Add in a few long walks outside, maybe a good book or exercise. | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/10/25 01:02 PM
Marriage is overI’ll have to implement a version of this because the day before their transition is always hard. My boys don’t want to leave home and have expressed their reluctance to go with their mother which makes me feel horrible. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/10/25 01:28 AM
Marriage is overAgreed! Of course she’ll never see it that way. You think you know someone until you don’t. Tough lesson! | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/10/25 01:20 AM
Marriage is overI appreciate the positivity! Using it as motivation 🙏 | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/10/25 07:30 PM
Marriage is overGreat recommendations! We’ve been getting outside as much as possible, we just got back from a camping trip. I’ll definitely look into emotional support resources with their provider since my oldest cries to me every time we’re together, he’s confused and tired of the back and forth. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/10/25 05:00 PM
Marriage is overI’ll probably have to distance myself significantly to grieve and get myself back to a good spot. I’ve been through worse in my childhood but never thought I’d have to go through it again. Thank you for listening and sharing! It means a lot! | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/10/25 02:26 PM
Marriage is overYeah, the truth hurts but I feel like I’ve known for a while now. Not sure if you guys have kids together but if so did you go no contact? Trying to navigate my next steps with grace, because she is a good mother and I don’t want cause anymore harm to my boys. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/10/25 02:13 PM
It's the same story!!Read my mind! It literally just happened to me and now she thinks she’s bi-sexual because she found a co-worker attractive. Add in the “I’m free” butterfly and flower tattoos. 17 years down the toilet. Crazy thing is, they don’t care if they have a pot to piss in when it’s all said and done. As long as they can go “find theirselves” casualties are an afterthought. Keep your head up gentleman, temptation is a mf - once they’ve been exposed it’s never going away. | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/10/25 11:55 AM
