Not the best article but I don’t know that Fiamengo made a sound academic case. What I do know is that she deserves respect for gathering evidence and calmly presenting it. She also offered advice all students should heed. “Educate yourselves so you can challenge [each other],” and, “do it will style, not hatred.” Also not the worst.

Good comment on suffrage in Canada in the comments as well: Seems like you haven't been reading your history, because if you did you'd know that not only was the vote restricted to men of the upper class, but that wealthy women were allowed to vote in 1916 while most of the 67,000 soldiers who died in WW1 were denied that right. I think that's generally the point. Most people on Tumblr in the "social justice" areas make little to no sense. That subreddit is dedicated to pointing out and making fun of the extremes found in that context. They adopt the terms used by the people they're making fun of/pointing out the ridiculousness of in order to drive that point home.

Depends where you live, I know a couple active Mens Rights groups in my area and I know a couple exist across Canada. With quick googling I found Vancouver, Edmonton, Ottawa, and Montreal groups that have discussions at universities to organize activist campaigns. Also, when I was visiting a friend in BC I saw several posters in regards to issues that are of concern to Mens Rights Activists and directed people to meetings and websites that looked to be for MRA information.

They normally do it through social engineering and going through all the posts you've ever written to see if they can find who you are. I'm not saying it's possible to do against everyone but all it takes is posting seemingly innocuous information that can be pieced together with other posts. The harm it can do? Personal threats, loss of job, constant harassment, death threats, physical attacks. Who knows what the unstable would do with your home address/phone number/name?

I like the counter argument that if the men have to pay their wife a salary they should also have to preform well in regular performance reviews like the men do at their job. I think the distinction is that Feminism works toward removing those gender roles for women (even if they say they're working towards it for men I would say that this is false and that they think they are because feminists normally believe that removing them for women will remove them for men as well) while we have to work to remove them for men. I don't think they should but I know in sensitive industries (government, security, policing) any links to any potential hate groups is enough to get you fired. I work for a security firm and it's against my contract to be a part of or contribute to a recognized hate group but I'm safe since I'm not in the U.S.

This is what I'm saying. I have no issues with boy to girl ratio in Scouts (I'm a scout leader myself), so in my mind this isn't the real issue. The real issue is that Girl Guides don't allow for boy's to join their groups and the ones who have let little brothers or single fathers come to camp have been punished severely by their area commissioners which is a real shame.

Because they define "Job" as working in a field, so a Jr Developer at a software company is considered having the same "job" as a Sr Developer. I think many more MRA's would be willing to side with conservatives and their obvious anti-feminism tendencies if they ditched the Christian conservative angle. But this article is about abuse generally, not abuse that ends in homicide. I think that she was playing a fucked up character in a fucked up psychological thriller. I never read his personal FAQ on his page until just now, they never stated that he only did local deliveries. I in fact did RTFA, I did not go through his entire FAQ as I wasn't interested in buying his sperm. You're incredible offensive to someone who's talking about concern for public safety and wanting to avoid the AIDS pandemic you had in the US in the 60s. "Handing them a sterile cup of sperm" isn't what he was doing though, it wasn't sterile, indicated that it may contain STDs, and I'm sure it wasn't packaged in a biohazard container to ensure the safety of the person delivering the sample. Again, I'm not saying that he shouldn't be able to give his sperm away without going through the FDA, I'm saying that he should be able to guarantee that he isn't spreading HIV and that he isn't putting a poor delivery guy in an unsafe work environment.

Mail order brides are illigal where I am, so I'm not sure if that argument has too much weight against me. I also don't think he could fly to each of his clients and have sex with them, it wouldn't be feasible. This is all about containing potential health risks. I think the person should have the ability to get it tested from another source and have it not only certified as safe but also verified to be in a safe biohazard container (Don't want that breaking in the FedEx truck). I'm not saying that I think that this is the best way to handle this issue, I'm saying that they made this choice in the interest public health.

It's different because he's using the internet to propagate it to a larger area than he would have access to through traditional sex. It's weighing the potential public health risk over large geographical areas against his personal freedoms and rights. I'm not sure if I have issues with this. He is spreading a bodily fluid which may or may not contain communicable diseases. I think the FDA is right to say that they need to have the ability to test these fluids for public health reasons. In my mind it's the same reason why you don't see spittoons anymore.
