That wasn’t the question. It’s a legal document and it specifically mentions food as a human right. Enforcement is a separate concept.

That’s exactly what beliefs feel like to anyone who has them. If someone says, “I believe in God,” they are not acknowledging the validity of other beliefs; they are saying “There is a God, end-of.” You believe that this is reality. This explanation bodes true for you. But no two realities are the same. Your reality is made up of the sum total of your life experience, and you have defined it accordingly. I’m curious - if were to have a child (or children) who did not want to have children themse…

Throwing this out there OP - on an American-dominated website, this scenario could only really go one way. Woman A is much more common/achievable if one doesn’t live in the US. A lot of people are pointing out pragmatic issues with this sort of life (which, fair), but also… Woman A is literally my sister. Who travels constantly, had a baby last year, and will absolutely have two more AND continue to travel. Everyone in this thread is acting like the two are mutually exclusive.

Well, this is one of the stupidest things I’ve read this year. Just because you invoke the term “ancient philosophers,” doesn’t make your point immediately hold weight. There were a lot of so-called philosophers who went around back in the day saying stupid shit like “all is fire” “all is water” because they didn’t have the knowledge to adequately defend their point and just thought it sounded smart. Nowadays philosophers still exist, but there is a higher demand for evidence for claims, so peop…

That’s crazy to me. And I grew up arguably upper-middle class. But I worked retail and waited tables throughout my undergrad, and I’ve had some form of summer employment at least since I was 13. I am guessing, given you said this is “common amongst people you know,” you live in a fairly wealthy area?

We absolutely need to change how our economic system functions, full stop. The problems described in this post, and so many other societal issues discussed in PPD (bigotry, loneliness, polarization of political opinions, patriarchy, etc.) are exacerbated by capitalism.

Because the perspective is inherently dehumanizing, and it’s easier to rationalize assault if one doesn’t think of the victim as fully human. It’s a slippery slope argument for sure, but I wouldn’t accuse predators of having the most sound logic.

I have deliberately and methodically fucked my way through a number of men. Enough to make any RPer flinch away from my touch. I have been patient and kind, I have stoked egos and suppressed pain. I have been direct and communicative. It’s difficult to find good casual sex with a single partner over a long term. Most people aren’t equipped for it.

Can I ask how old you are? Because dating for potential makes sense up to a point, which can be variable, but I think most people 35+ who are looking at others in the same age range would not be wise to date for potential. By that age, people are largely established and unlikely to change dramatically.

My standards are identical with the exception of 1 (I’m 5’1” and I’ve dated many people my same height or shorter, never been an issue) and 4 (I can figure out enough stuff for the day to day and make enough to hire a contractor when necessary). What I bring to the table is similar except I’m guessing based on your replies I’ve slept with more people, which would pose a problem for people on this sub.

More fun = better life Since the person you replied to is not equipped to answer your question, I will. More sex does not equal more fun. I have spent a lot of time fucking guys for fun. And most of them are bad at it. Even with direction and patience. Orgasms and pleasure have occurred with a minority of partners; pain and discomfort have happened with at least 50%. The rest were neutral experiences at best, which still require time, money, and effort. Not to mention that providing direction an…

No, I’m trying to get people to understand that they are using the word hypocrisy incorrectly by calling anything hypocritical. If that’s true, why not pose this question in a sub about linguistics or word use, or even casual conversation? Eh. 8 billion people on the planet and huuuuge variation in experience, culture, and paradigms. I think it would be safer to say that people of the same age/gender identity/cultural background/geographic area, etc. tend to be pretty samey. There are not endless variants in taste, but what these posts about all men/all women are really missing is context. If any OP is going to ask about ALL men/women, they’d probably get better/more accurate responses if they also responded with their own context…

Regret of not having children affects one person - the one who chose to get sterilized. Regret of having children affects that person (the adult who exercised their right to choose) AND the tiny humans who had no choice in being born to a parent who resents them. Why do you want children to suffer being born to parents who resent them?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/08/23 06:04 PM

And to add onto this - you only have access to your own paradigm. Even - maybe especially - if you disagree with someone else’s take, it’s important to be exposed with viewpoints from people that you respect, because it helps us consider subjects from more perspectives than we have access to. If one can only feed the AI information available to them, it can’t replicate one of the primary functions of socialization.

I’ve read the studies; I’m thinking maybe my issue here is your phrasing? “Bond” is a huuuuge catch-all term, and absolutely none of the studies I’ve read take into consideration the presence of other stable relationships that are not predominantly romantic. My point is, promiscuous people can bond as well as anyone else emotionally, but have higher standards sexually. Obviously. Edit: Since I’m on the topic, mini-rant - I absolutely detest the studies that consider “bonding” to equate to “only …

My point is, the average person has more nuanced tastes. I wouldn’t be happy with a cheeseburger everyday or fine food every day. This has been true my whole life, and applies to my sex life as well. The more experience I had, the more variance I demanded. I would never be okay with BAD sex (true even when I was inexperienced; sex that hurts = bad sex), but I don’t want just one kind of good sex either. To bring it back to OP, I’ve actually become easier to please, because my tastes have become …

I completely disagree with this. I cook fine food, I eat fine food, but when I want a greasy cheeseburger nothing else will do. I also don’t eat fine food every day because I have a life and don’t want to drop dead in the near future. “Better” and “less” - you’re using objective measurements for a subjective experience. I’m talking both food AND sex here.

I read something recently that basically boiled down to this: The greatest dichotomy between the experiences of men and women is that women are always objectified and men are never objectified. Being objectified, taken literally, at all times, is a terrible experience for a human. Being reduced to your physicality, stripping away your humanness, is incredibly psychologically harmful. But never being looked at like that - never being craved on a primal level, being desired so intimately and so qu…

It may be easy for women to get laid, but it’s extremely difficult to find a partner who’s good at it. Not all sex, not all partners, are created equal. If one loves having sex, it behooves them to find the best sexual partner possible. That takes time and numbers, but it doesn’t say anything about the value of women that they enjoy sex. Enjoying sex is not a moral quandary, it’s a biological imperative.

... alright, my brain knows I should let this lie, but fuck it. My partner and I finding each other ridiculously hot is a result of how we feel about one another, not about how society views us. I imagine there would be about a 50/50 split if you asked 100 people whether or not we are attractive. If you asked us, I would say I am a 6, he would say he is a 7. I find all my partners ridiculously attractive, but not all my standards for attraction would be objectively the norm. Like for example, I …

I actually don’t think of it as traditionally feminine per se, but you make an excellent point - looking after children and housework are traditionally seen as “woman’s work” (and are worth billions in unseen value to the economy, since it’s not included in GDP calculations). I want to say something slightly oblique on this topic: It’s interesting that whenever the concept of gender roles come up, the counter-examples are invariably some version of “I am/know a woman who engages in stereotypically masculine behaviour,” yet I never see dudes in the comments saying “I’m a guy and I really want to have kids and be a dad.” And that makes me sad, because I don’t think dudes en masse don’t want to have kids (I know many who do), I just think society considers it weird to s…

Just because my partner is the sexiest human in the world to me 100% of the time, doesn’t mean I want to have sex 100% of the time I’m with him. I’d be surprised if that’s honestly the case for you.

It is entirely possible to have an orgasm via vibrator without actually having any sexual desire/being in the “mood”, ex. Having an orgasm to fall asleep. This is relatively effortless compared to the high amount of effort sex takes, so sex requires sexual desire in order to engage fully. My relationship with my vibrator is not reciprocal, so no sexual desire required. I’m confused. The examples you gave of “successful people” are Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber. That’s literally an unimaginable precedent, not just for average or even above-average people, but the vast, vast majority of people in the world. If that’s the definition of “success” in this context, the vast majority of people - women and men - are unsuccessful. Even leaving out parasocial relationships, the people who you most desire is still a reference to autonomous people, who may not want to sleep with the person in question for any number of reasons; there are far more reasons not to sleep with any single person, than to sleep with them. Also the time and place you most desire is so laughably out of reach for every normal person f…

male companionship/attention is hyperabundant I don’t understand this way of thinking. Population ratios of men to women in the Western world are roughly on par, usually with the number of women being slightly higher. My theory is that men simply do not see/notice women they deem “ugly,” but then expect women they are interested in to love them for their inner beauty.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/07/22 03:17 AM

But that’s not how the overall statistics work. The 20% of women having 60% of the sex are not all going to be conventionally attractive, because they don’t have to be. Yet they are still included in this statistical analysis. Which means there’s definitely a subset of women getting laid frequently who men begrudge, but wouldn’t fuck anyway.

You absolutely can, if the entire notion of modern feminism is about choice and the freedom to choose, which it is. The only part wherein this breaks down is when one group is forcing their lifestyle on another, which is distinctly anti-choice. The ideas themselves are different, but the groups of people are not at war.

De Beers did not start the tradition of giving rings in marriage, only the shift to diamond rings. If you reread my original comment, you'll notice I said precisely that. People are also free to walk around topless, 100% of the time. We have social norms and customs (and for some of us, weather) which dictate otherwise. Informal institutions inform laws, which are mandatory, but also our understanding of how life works. I am not interested in taking agency away from people, and I never would. Bu…

It's interesting... I'm 24, female, younger than my looks, and don't wear make-up on a day-to-day basis either. I've been greying slightly since I was 16, but I've never dyed my hair. I don't straighten it either, even though my Jew curls have never exactly been in style. And never once have I thought that dying my hair, hiding behind makeup, or SURGERY (that's intense man) would become requisites for me. Ever. Because none of those things conform to the value I place on my looks. You said its h…

That... is an incredibly benevolent view of marketing. As well as a simplistic one. I would advise you to look up the origin of diamond engagement rings and the De Beers company for an excellent example of marketing shaping desires and creating unnecessary necessities.

I think if EVERYONE didn't wear make up, it would even out the best for us, because then we wouldn't be expected to be falsely flawless. No, it wouldn't. Because the joys of wearing make-up extend far beyond just the face that people put on in the morning. It's artistic expression, it's self-expression, it's a changing of dynamic, and it's not solely or even primarily intended to make someone look flawless. Most people who wear make-up do not wear perfect make-up, by the way. Take a closer look …

Something you alluded to, but didn't mention: trust. Particularly in my realm of sexual activities (BDSM), knowing that your partner is going to adhere to the concept of safe, sane, and consensual when you're doing something like bondage is a HUGE factor. And there are certainly some men and women who refuse to engage with a partner at all if this cannot be guaranteed, vanilla sex or otherwise.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/07/16 05:36 AM

Not necessarily. There are lots of reasons to have sex other than for the sexing. Ask any incel why they'd love to be a woman, and they'll all answer the same - any woman can get fucked if she really wants to. Which is bullshit, but also interesting, because some women (who want commitment) will definitely have sex to make up for all those things that a relationship brings - companionship, lust, physical contact, whatever. Women have the power to romanticize as much as men, and even if women generally don't enjoy the act itself, they also have the power to enjoy every other aspect of it. But that's a good thing, satisfaction is ego-death. Which doesn't discount the viability of having a monogamous LTR; it merely means that people shouldn't settle and should always be attempting to improve themselves. So people who have a ton of partners with the goal of having an LTR may in fact be looking for someone who has the potential to grow with them (sexually, physically, mentally, what have you) rather than just be "satisfied" with one immutable person all their lives.

The title is asking about the most repulsive traits you find in women. I'm wondering if you meant that in an exclusionary sense (as in these are traits that are solely in women) or a comparative sense (worse in women than in men). That's why I REALLY like the stoplight method, even outside of the realm of BDSM; having "red" for a full stop and "yellow" for a slow down contributes really well to a good sexual flow, as long as a yellow isn't taken personally and is understood that it's not a reflection of what someone is doing, but how or when they are doing it.

That's not actually true. There's more to life than sex and sexual attraction. There's way, WAY more than having a partnership than sex. It is possible to be sexually attracted to someone without being attracted to all of their physical qualities. And the idea that the legitimacy of a relationship is predicated on how badly the partners want to rip each others' clothes off certainly loses steam with couples who are old and wrinkly and certainly not sexually attracted to each other's looks, but i…

To a point, still not true. Obese women have bodies that are more indicative of fertility than skinny women. Also, obese women were certainly preferred throughout most of the Middle Ages and Renaissance era, where being fat was an indication of being wealthy. They're not, actually. Wide hips and large breasts are far more indicative of fertility. Ever heard the phrase "child-bearing hips"? If anything, narrowness in women, especially in extreme cases, indicates the opposite. My point is that these preferences evolve. This is precisely an example of how they evolve. Not to mention the fact that not everyone wants to have children, so preferences based on fertility would be irrelevant for them.

Why do men want skinnier women? Those are generalizations that only really have to do with the most basic framing of social interactions. There are socially agreed upon more "attractive" physical qualities for both men and women that, undoubtedly, are at least tangentially related to biological inference. However, in the long run, and with consideration given due to long-term relationships, these qualities are less important as more pragmatic notions.

This thread pertains to the likelihood of getting pregnant, not the likelihood of giving birth. Regardless, I disagree. Women who don't want to have children can be pressured into it, by religion, by society, by family. There are plenty of women who don't want to have a baby who are forced into it. Otherwise coat hanger abortions wouldn't be a thing.

Where? Like, if I don't believe there's a patriarchy in the US, but I do believe there is one in Singapore, and I define it accordingly (filial piety, adherence to hierarchy, etc.), then what? I learned that in a comparative politics class. I don't think it's particularly feminist to say that patriarchy exists in the world; it is, however, slightly ludicrous to suggest that the same patriarchy that is in S-E Asia also exists in the US.

Lying about anything to make someone date you is bad. It represents a gross level of insecurity on the part of liar, who does not want to find someone good for them, but wants someone in particular. I don't think lying to make someone date you is uncommon, but yes, it is bad. People lie about all sorts of things. It is, however, INCOMPARABLE to rape.

I would hardly equate non-consensual sex to lying about one's N-count, especially if it's a one night stand. Her N-count is non-consequential to you if you don't to plan to wife her, no?

It's not actually. The OP admitted in an edit to having a limited understanding of what cuckolding in reality vs. cuckolding on TRP means, but even the fetish cuckolding does not actually mean there are zero orgasms; that's based on the boundaries of the given relationship. But the point I'm trying to make is that engaging in fetishes in general means that something other than the orgasm is motivating the pleasure for sex, and the fetish population, while a minority, is not one to be ignored to …

Whereabouts it that? I do see that OP does say that sex is enjoyable EVEN if they don't cum. Which makes perfect sense to me. Orgasm is definitely part of sex, I think the idea is that orgasm is not the point of sex.

Jacking off is physical Well, yeah, but people don't masturbate solely when they need to, sometimes it's out of boredom, or procrastination, there are any number of reasons. As to orgasm being not necessary to enjoy sex, I would agree with OP there. Do you enjoy the act of sex itself? Is having sex a race to the finish line? I think the idea that sex is about the orgasm implies a very narrow interpretation, otherwise every man would attempt to have an absurdly short session that would only culmi…

They may be a physical thing, but as with many fetishes that subvert regularly scheduled reality, the fetish can (and often does) arise without any physical contact; that desire is purely mental. People with tentacle fetishes rarely get to actually fuck tentacles, so them physically existing is irrelevant. Macro- and microphilias are much more common than you might think, but again, can only be truly recognized mentally. But even leaving aside all of that... are you really trying to tell me that…

Even 10/10 women know instinctively that the guy who is her match in looks is superior to her because there are only a handful of men like him in the world, and so they offer their bodies for these guys to pump and dump. See, here I'd disagree with you. The numbers for 10/10 are pretty much equal, considering how rare they are for both sexes. A 10/10 woman already gets plenty of attention from 1-9, she doesn't have to offer anything to get what she wants. She can afford her selectivity. I also t…

It is possible to maintain that all men have privilege on account of being men, while also believing that women also hold privilege, though of a different kind, on account of being women. I certainly believe that. I prefer the term "advantage," however. Every single group in society, whether across gender, class, disability, race, you name it, has certain advantages, whether natural or constructed, as a result of the group they belong to.

I find this quite interesting - you actually have a better idea of what women want than /u/cats_or_get_out, in my opinion. Of course people change! And they should, because no body's perfect, we're all constantly evolving. In all the really successful relationships I'm aware of (my parents, 3 of my siblings, two of my married couple friends, and I'm defining "successful" here to mean married and together for anywhere between 3-27 years), there is no definite "leader" and "follower", so to speak... they acknowledge each others' strengths and weaknesses and act accordingly so as to optimize every situation. I'm a woman and I am cognizant of them. I certainly don't pretend to speak for all women, but I would argue it's difficult to go through life without any communication with the opposite sex, and many of these struggles are apparent, in particular the last one. By the exact same logic, shouldn't people in general stop condemning feminism for the actions of a few misandrists who are holding the movement captive? TRP suffers from parallel problems feminism does - the ideology, which is inherently amoral, is most vocally supported by people who have extremist views, leading the general public to take a negative view of the ideology in general. I think you're confusing "equality" with "equity" here. It is both good and possible for a diverse group of people to be equal to each other, but it would be difficult to give different people equity (the quality of fairness or "sameness", very different from equality, particularly in a political/judicial context) and the world would not be better off for assuming equity was either necessary or achievable.

Some girls probably do, but I would also argue there are girls who reserve certain kinds of sex acts for guys who earn it, which is in my opinion totally legit. There's a minimum acceptable standard for ALL guys they fuck, and that standard gets higher depending on how much trust is required to make a contentious sexual act safe, sane, consensual, and fun for everyone. Sometimes, it's not the guy, it's the act itself. But yes, I think we're mostly in accord.

But then how would any woman who acquieses to things she doesn't actually enjoy find someone that's good for her? You know, this is the first response with solid, credible evidence I've received that has made me question what the ideology of feminism values. I know of Reimer's story and had assumed that most people who ascribed to Money's beliefs had had their opinions changed by Milton Diamond, who later reported the actuality of Reimer's personal identification. I think Money's refusal to recant her beliefs shows more of a personal problem than a problem with feminists in general, but I see your point. I …

Promoting people such as Carol Cohn and Megan Mackenzie who challenge women being excluded from combat positions because of the myth that women can't fight, which is inherently detrimental to men and women both, for obvious reasons. I also am earning a degree in a program that helps me to better understand people who do not have the same advantages I do. Even if I can never truly empathize, because I have never been put in their position, the best I can do is learn, learn, learn, keep listening …

Hehe never study social sciences. "Social right" is a very real and important term with lots of implications. I agree that the road to equality has been paved with shitty people. But there are good people too! Check out Carol Cohn, she's a writer who talks about the harm of women being kept out of the military and how it negatively affects both men and women. These are the people I try to promote and give credence to, but apparently being logical and moderate are not very sexy. :(

Oh hi, I'm a Canadian and radical feminist! But I should clarify... I take radical by its actual definition, meaning that I want to change the system at a fundamental level. It does NOT mean that I am a man-hating TERF and I really don't like being conflated with them. It's part of the reason I made this post.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/04/15 11:27 PM

Sorry for seeing this so late. I ABSOLUTELY understand this and have actually argued this several times. This entire post is about separating the movement from the ideology - because the ideology is fundamentally good, but the movement is being held captive by people who hurt men under the guise of feminism. I don't want to give them the leg of feminism to stand on, because hurting men is NOT fighting for equality.

I agree with all of that to a point, since I think aspects that makes getting on in society shitty for women are literally embedded into our biology. I also don't think "getting on in society" easier is something we can rely on activism to solve. Not to say we shouldn't try to overcome that, of course. I don't think of myself as trying to play both sides, but since you're arguing views I already hold, I think I'm coming across that way. I'm going to have to review the comments I made.

That doesn't mean feminism works against men. I never said it did. I think feminism could work for men if systemic changes were made. Like how the reduction of the importance of gender roles would change the dating game and make it less onerous for men and women alike. TBH I don't agree that women get the short end the of stick in general, I think men and women alternatively are stigmatized and that feminism can help to eliminate some of that stigma. never mind the horrible treatment that women …

what rights are not equal between the two currently? Depends. Here in Canada, in terms of legislation, women and men are equal, but we are not under the eyes of the law, which still regularly deems men unfit for custody of their children in a divorce, regardless of whether they'd make the best parent, or gives a woman leniency on the basis of the fact that she's a woman. It's very difficult to generalize about this because rights change depending on where in the world we're talking about, and it…

Historically, it has necessarily been advocacy for women in the Western world because that was where the changes needed to be made. There's nothing wrong with that. Today, in the Western world, women are empowered to be their own advocates to fight systemic problems which enforce inequality. But elsewhere in this very large world we live in, it is still primarily women who need advocates. That isn't to say that men don't need advocates as well; everyone should be fighting for human equality.

Brands carry a powerful meaning to the layperson, because most people are apathetic to understanding issues beyond branding. If we brand crazies as crazies (see: Extremist Victims), then the branding might have a powerful effect in highlighting exactly why these people are wrong and why they shouldn't have the indefensible "women and men should be equal" ideology to fall back on, because they themselves don't believe it.

The larger part of feminism doesn't, because feminism is about social and political equality for everyone. And it's not the responsibility of feminists to fight for men's rights. It's the responsibility of everyone to fight for human rights. If I see inequality, I call that shit out, regardless of who the victim or oppressor is in a given situation. By talking about "women's rights" and "men's rights", we are gendering what should be a genderless debate, because men and women should be equal. Th…

How about we stop trying to argue that men OR women are generally "less privileged" in the Western world, because we live in developed countries and privilege is a relative concept here. Sometimes I am more privileged than a man, sometimes he is more privileged than me. "we're gender-based (female)" The word feminism is a throwback to its origins, not a descriptor for the entire ideology. Which, yes, is about equal rights for both men and women. It is NOT the responsibility to fight for men's rights or women's rights, but for equal human rights. When we try to genderize the debate, that is where we fail. Egalitarianism is about a lot more than gender equality and it's not synonymous with feminism. Some women ruined feminism, but those people are who the majority thinks about when they hear feminism, so they are what feminism means now. The "reality" you refer to in your link are observations about what some people calling themselves feminists have said or done which you have then inflated to be representative of an ideology. The idea that women have it worse than men is such an over simplification and generalization. Privilege is a relative concept, in particular here in the Western world. Which leads me to... That they're the "primary victims" of sexism in the world This is still true.
