So you're saying that if I can get a 2, then I must be able to get a 10 eventually.

What I'm trying to say is that judging leagues based on who rejects you or accepts you isn't a good way of determining your league. Your league is just what you can expect given your attributes. Whether you overperform or underperform expectations has nothing to do with what your league is.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/10/25 05:21 PM

True or false: A younger woman is going to be more desirable than an older woman, all things being equal? True or false: A more educated person is going to be a more desirable partner, all things being equal? Maybe you don't prioritize these things, perhaps because you lack them yourself, but other people certainly do. The reality is that an educated young woman has much more choice of a partner than an uneducated old woman.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/10/25 05:11 PM

So we respond by shifting the goalpost and saying that "attractiveness, age, and education" don't constitute someone's league. God I love reddit
/r/PurplePillDebate27/10/25 04:59 PM

There's no scientific evidence about leagues. Prove it. Every study I've read suggests that people match up according to attractiveness, age, and education, and that these attributes are what people tend to prioritize the most when searching for partners. If that doesn't prove the existence of leagues, I don't know what to tell you.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/10/25 04:33 PM

You think there are no moderately attractive men who fail to attract anyone? Are you saying that all the people who struggle to meet someone are ugly? So all the ND men who look fine are just making up their struggles? That has less to do with leagues and more to do with "search costs". It's generally more effort for men to set up dates with women than it is for women to set up dates with men. A man has to expend much more effort than a similarly attractive woman to find a partner. Those autisti…

It could just be that the less attractive woman thought you were too good for her and less likely to stick around, while the more attractive one thought you would make a stable partner. Who rejects you isn't a good indicator of what your league is, because you could be rejected for a myriad of reasons beyond "leagues".

What I'm saying is that it is unlikely that a super-intelligent guy is going to end up with a hot idiot. A hot idiot is going to end up with a hot idiot, because we tend to match up on physical attractiveness above everything else. It really all depends on how we calculate someone's league and what attributes get weighted more than others.

Dude, you're arguing with someone who doesn't give a fuck about scientific evidence or reason. You've already lost before you began.

If a guy who is morbidly obese and has a high school diploma and consistently able to pull rich supermodels, most people would still look at the guy and say that he's dating out of his league. The only difference is that he's able to do it consistently. Likely through a combination of favorable gender ratios and timing.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/10/25 03:28 PM

Your argument was that if you consistently pull 8s, then that would imply that you are also an 8 or at least have the equivalent value of an 8. I disagree with that premise because it would require you to define what "consistently" means and under which context. A better explanation would be that your attributes are equivalent to those of an 8, which would enable you to readily get 8s. Your attributes are your "league," which determines what you can pull. What you pull is not necessarily your le…

Are you just going to copy and paste that comment when you can’t come up with an actual argument? It was an argument that I copied and pasted, which you did not address. I don't think we need to pull up the dictionary definition of an argument to know what an "argument" is. Your response was "this is nonsense. Plain and simple" It being possible to get someone out of your league doesn’t mean the general rule of looksmatching isn’t true. Never disagreed with this.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/10/25 03:11 PM

no one can agree on what perfect competition means. why would perfect competition in your eyes not be a facsimile of the real world? why this room scenario thats completely unrealistic? The real world is not perfect, with many buyers and sellers selling identical products. Perfect competition is a theoretical contruct that exists as oversimplification of the real world.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/10/25 03:09 PM

If you believe that it is possible to get with someone "out of your league," then that would mean that you don't actually believe that leagues are "what you can get" because that would not make sense by definition. But as a general rule, most people date within their “league” with people of equivalent looks, income, etc. You're defining leagues in terms of attributes here, not in terms of what people end up with.

This would be true if mate value differentials between people were largely driven by intangible attributes. However, it seems that there is a great deal of assortative mating by things like intelligence and social skills, so I'm not sure if this would hold up in practice. I.e. super-confident, intelligent man marrying a super-hot, ditzy woman. I'd say that mate value differentials are largely driven by timing, context, and gender ratios rather than intangible attributes.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/10/25 02:57 PM

I don't agree with this. Leagues don't necessarily need to be real. They exist as a theoretical construct under perfect competition, which doesn't necessarily apply to the real world. It's kind of what would happen if you took 1000 men and 1000 women in a room and asked them to form viable pairs and averaged out the results of what a person with certain attributes could obtain in a partner after performing the experiment multiple times. Leagues are useful in the sense of quantifying the desirabi…

"Leagues" are a theoretical construct that tends to get murky under real-world conditions. It's kind of akin to the idea of perfect competition in economics. There are a myriad of factors why something that makes sense on paper doesn't play out perfectly in the real world,.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/10/25 02:43 PM
2

The example I gave wasn't supposed to be realistic. It was to demonstrate why the "your league is what you can get" argument doesn't make any logical sense when taken to its extreme conclusion. Most people end up marrying someone from the same general socioeconomic status and general attractiveness level, as well as age range within 5 years. This strongly supports the existence of leagues.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/10/25 02:40 PM
2

If you believe that you got someone "out of your league", then you don't actually believe that your league is what you can get, because that phrase would not make sense by definition.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/10/25 02:35 PM

You absolutely can quantify attractiveness in the aggregate. But there is variance in attractiveness ratings on the individual level. Attractiveness is somewhat subjective after all. Do you believe that it is possible to get someone "out of your league"?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/10/25 02:34 PM
1

Then wouldn't that imply that what you think is "out of your league" is what your league is?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/10/25 02:32 PM
3

I agree. It's about how desirable you are to the opposite gender, given your attributes. It has nothing to do with your own gender's opinion of you.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/10/25 02:30 PM
1

Depends on how we define leagues. Do you believe that it is possible to get someone "out of your league"?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/10/25 02:28 PM

It means you ended up with what you got, and what you got is also what you get.

You need to provide evidence that its only unpopular guys approaching women. From what I've seen, the most confident and socially adept guys approach the most in nightlife. They rely on chemistry and charisma to get women attracted to them. Women can only see how charismatic you are when you've spoken to them.

Let me make myself clear. I do not believe that women should approach men if her goal is a happy and stable marriage ending in children. Women are currently free to approach men as much as they want. I'm saying that there is a segment of women who would feel that it benefits them if it became socially unacceptable for men to approach women. Women would benefit from not getting approached by undesirable men and male success rates from approaching women would plummet causing men to accept from tho…

Ok? If a man thinks possibly dating me is not a good enough reward for… having to put up with talking to me, then I genuinely think it’s better for him not to torture himself with my presence. If he does not actually have any interest in getting to know me, then I am not interested in being a “reward”. I’m sure I’m not a good enough reward for anyone anyways. What I meant is that men aren't going to put in the time and effort to pursue a woman if they believe the reward isn't worth it. You shoul…

Fair, it's pretty easy for women to get guys "out of their league" if they aren't looking for marriage. Plenty of guys will settle because they don't want to be alone and just want consistent sex.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/10/25 01:16 PM
1

He didn't mention anything about marriage in his post. Going on a date with a woman doesn’t mean that he sees her as marriage material. He did say that he saw himself as equal to a single mother living with her parents. If he himself is not a single father and has an actual career going for him, I doubt he actually sees a future with her.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/10/25 12:58 PM

There is no cost to rejection when it comes to spamming out messages on dating sites. It takes actual effort and a willingness to get rejected to approach a woman, have a conversation with her, and ask her out. Most men aren't going to expend the resources unless they believe the expected reward is worth it. It's more like, if women make it socially unacceptable for men to approach them and make it the social norm that women approach men, they would be able to filter out attention from less attr…

I think that "dating" and marriage are two different things. A guy might settle for a single mother as a placeholder or for consistent sex, but I doubt that a guy who has a lot going for him is actually going to want to introduce a single mother who is living with her parents to mom and pop.

Seems that the attractive women in this thread would absolutely date themselves. The unattractive women avoid answering the question and resort to ad hominem. Makes me wonder if there is a correlation between being angry and combative as a woman and her desirability.

Because he doesn't need to waste time messaging people on dating apps, and he can rely more on his charisma to achieve success.

How attractive would you consider yourself? How would you rate these men in relation to yourself? How attractive were they in comparison to your previous long-term partners objectively?
/r/PurplePillDebate26/10/25 02:03 AM

This is a nonsense analogy. A Big Mac has a set objective menu price, and it absolutely does fluctuate according to local markets. Human beings do not have top-down set prices, which is why the principle "what you can get" holds true instead. In a way it is absolutely more like an auction, which still adheres to its own market principles for determining price and value. The "menu price" of a Big Mac is also a function of people's willingness to pay for it. Local markets are local markets; they d…

No, who you get is indicative of your so-called "market value. Not how markets work. That's how auctions work, which tend to follow a completely different set of rules rather than standard supply and demand models. If I offer to pay $40 for a Big Mac, then that is not the "market value" of a Big Mac. It just means I overpaid relative to the actual market value of the product. Every single thing you say just further reinforces my point about moving the goalposts in order to avoid cognitive disson…
/r/PurplePillDebate26/10/25 12:05 AM

Once again, I'm asking you why who hits on you should have more weight than who you partner with. Because that is indicative of your "market value". If the market dictates that you're a 5 based on the relative desirability of your attributes, then that is what your league is. If an obese guy gets attention from primarily obese women, then obese women are what his league is. If the dude gets lucky and ends up with someone hotter than himself, that says nothing about his actual value in the mating…

This varies greatly. I already explained one way how on your other post. There are men who think all women are beneath them. I doubt this is most men. If you're being consistently approached by objectively unattractive guys, then I'd say that is a pretty good indicator of your own attractiveness. No amount of unearned confidence is going to reduce the likelihood of getting rejected by someone out of your league. Your level is who you can get. I'm not sure why the men I've had are less indicative…
/r/PurplePillDebate25/10/25 11:47 PM

I made this post with you in mind. I have a suspicion that women are generally being approached by men more or less on their level. Men generally avoid approaching women above them for fear of getting rejected, and avoid approaching women below them because they can get someone on their level. If you're being consistently approached by men who are unattractive that is probably indicative of your own level of attractiveness. No offense.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/10/25 11:28 PM
1

Why is that?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/10/25 11:17 PM
1

So the fear of rejection prevents less attractive men from approaching. Would you say that the guys who approached you were generally around your level of attractiveness? How often would you be approached by guys more attractive than you?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/10/25 11:14 PM

Would you say that these guys were roughly around the same level of attractiveness as you? What would you say the range of attractiveness is?

Looks are what matter the most on dating apps. Your likelihood of receiving attention on dating apps is determined by your physical appearance above everything else, including height, education, intelligence, etc. I can almost guarantee that black pill types solely interact with women on dating apps instead of actually speaking to them in real life. https://www.psypost.org/physical-attractiveness-far-outweighs-other-traits-in-online-dating-success/ Prior studies have shown that individuals who m…

Almost no one chooses a partner solely off of physical appearance. But it is absolutely true that people end up with someone of similar attractiveness and education as themselves. What you wrote doesn't disprove what I wrote. I never claimed that leagues were solely about physical appearance.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/10/25 07:51 PM

It is well established that people end up with people of similar attractiveness and education as themselves. Your own sources quantify people into higher and lower attractiveness. I'm just wondering how you'd be able to justify the cognitive dissonance and still conclude that "leagues don't exist". I think it's more accurate to say that attraction is subjective, but we still end up with someone on our level.

Interesting. It seems that while men on average "overshoot" more, the sheer volume of messages that they send out and uneven gender ratios seem to create relative equality in terms of the number of messages received per week for women. While women tend to overshoot less, they don't message men as frequently either, which ends up producing more or less similar inequality as men do when it comes to inbound messages. Basically, because so many men are "spraying and praying" and because there are mo…

A less attractive woman doesn’t often get chances with an attractive guy, especially off of dating apps. This reads as someone who doesn't know how the world works, no offense. Would she be skeptical? Sure, but someone who’s way hotter than you showing interest, especially when most overlook you, is a big opportunity. Any woman with any amount of social awareness would probably assume immediately that the guy is looking for an easy lay.

That article isn't about modern dating apps. It's about messaging distributions on OkCupid. The article also calculates that OkCupid had a 2-1 ratio of men to women. Granted, I will say that there is selection bias at play. Given that women receive massive amounts of messages on dating apps, there isn't really a reason for them to message men unless she is trying to get a guy out of their league. The messaging distributions that men receive are more reflective of the personality types of the wome…

I don't think most women are thinking about the larger implications for society when they say that "leagues don't exist". Its just not a very polite or politically correct thing to say that "leagues exist". Honestly, this doesn't even really warrant a response, but I'll respondnd anyway. If most men are ugly, then that would mean that women are just as ugly because they end up with guys of the same attractiveness as themselves. Or we can acknowledge that average men end up with average women and that exceptional women end up with exceptional men.

What you should have asked ChatGPT was to summarize the scientific literature of how objective physical attractiveness is. Even if we made the argument that these "rules" change across time, which I seriously doubt, it doesn't actually matter in any meaningful way because of how much conventional attractiveness is actually rewarded and the consequences that follow for those who lack those traits.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/10/25 07:14 PM

The "market" dictates what leagues are, the same way that gas prices are determined or how much prostitutes should charge for their services. I know it sounds harsh, and I know it doesn't sound pleasant, but it is the cold, hard truth that your parents should have taught you when you were younger.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/10/25 07:04 PM

Getting with someone more attractive than yourself doesn't mean that leagues don't exist. It just means that you got lucky and got with someone more attractive than yourself. There is no shame in admitting that people generally end up with people of similar attractiveness and that exceptions are exceptions, they don't invalidate the rule.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/10/25 06:59 PM

The concept of "leagues" isn't something that men just made up because they're pissed off at women. It is an objective reality that people end up with people of similar attractiveness as themselves. You don't need to be angry at women to acknowledge something we see in pretty much every study conducted on the topic.

Source? Because everything I've read suggests attractiveness is not random and can be quantified. There is some element of subjectivity to it, but at the end of the day, there are things that are universally considered attractive.

Would you consider yourself a "scientifically minded" person? This is very much a dating app phenomenon. Most women generally aren't going to be dating guys more attractive than themselves, especially if they expect the dude to approach them and put effort into talking to them and ask them out, etc. I think that most women have enough common sense to avoid going for dudes obviously more attractive than themselves if they're looking for a serious relationship. The fact that you're saying stuff like this tells me that you're spending too much time on the app…

I never claimed that women are generally unattractive. Only that the threshold for getting a man to sleep with a woman is quite low. People can do whatever they want. Not my business.

Yes, a woman doesn't necessarily need to be very attractive for a man to say that "it was better than his hand". Cue downvotes

I don't think a lot of women at the bar are specifically on the prowl for casual sex. Nor do they have a sign on their foreheads saying they're open to casual sex. I think that many are open to it if the mood strikes, and the guy is decently attractive and the vibe is right. I guess on dating apps, it's mainly women who are actively looking for casual sex at that given time. At the bar, it's mostly about being at the right place, at the right time, and not being too terrible of an option. Sure, …

Why would it matter what his personality type is when looking for hookups? Wouldn't the bar scene select for those who are more extroverted and socially adept than those who rely on dating apps?
/r/PurplePillDebate19/10/25 01:17 PM
1

Why do you think I'm wrong? It makes logical sense to me. The gender ratios on dating apps, low costs of rejection, anonymity, and men's willingness to lower their standards for low-effort, guaranteed sex should logically enable a woman to get a significantly more desirable man for casual sex than she could get to approach her in real life, where those above factors are at play. The women I knew who used dating apps for casual sex hooked up with significantly more attractive men than the guys th…

But wouldn't you meet at bars/clubs first anyway, before going home with someone? Increased selection would only matter if the expanded selection resulted in better quality. Are you admitting that women can get hotter guys off of dating apps than they can get in real life?
/r/PurplePillDebate19/10/25 12:46 PM
1

Idk, how much information are you really getting from someone by messaging on a dating app? How would you know that he didn't just tailor his entire profile to maximize the number of matches he receives and didn't just outsource his messaging to ChatGPT?
/r/PurplePillDebate19/10/25 12:44 PM

No, I mean, wouldn't it be safer to meet men while you're out with your friends and get a sense of a guy's presence and personality IRL before going home with him? Plus, no worries about catfishing.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/10/25 12:42 PM

Isn't it kind of dangerous to invite someone to your place within a few hours without ever having met them? How much safety does a few messages over Tinder really provide?

So you're saying that it gives you more time to get to know someone vs meeting someone at the bar that night?
/r/PurplePillDebate19/10/25 12:13 PM

I've met decently attractive women who've used dating apps for hookups. She just wanted to have anonymous casual sex where no one would find out about it and have access to more attractive men than they'd be able to get in real life.

I honestly don't think it's nearly as deep as you think it is. It's pretty clear to me what is happening. This guy struggles to get casual sex, as most average-looking men do on dating apps. He sees that a small percentage of the most attractive men get success on the dating apps. He sees a bunch of studies that show that women raise their physical standards for casual sex, so therefore he concludes that any woman who has had casual sex before him is settling for him after having sex with super …

I think the idea is that women who struggle to get attractive men to approach them and women who don't feel comfortable cold approaching random guys for casual sex, they use dating apps instead. Basically they want access to hotter guys they can get in real life.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/10/25 08:30 PM
1

Yeah. Unfortunately a lot of men feel like they dont have much other option but to use those apps since its hard to meet women organically if you don't like going to bars and clubs
/r/PurplePillDebate18/10/25 08:22 PM
0

Oh, you're saying that you feel bad for men who need to initiate with women knowing full well it may not go anywhere and might result in ghosting or that the woman on the other side may not be who she says she is? This was pretty much the exact reason why I hated using dating apps.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/10/25 08:19 PM
2

What do you mean by this?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/10/25 08:14 PM
1

You never used dating apps to meet casual partners right? You only met guys in real life who approached you? Do you think that this is the primary reason why you hooked up with guys you'd be too ashamed to be seen with?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/10/25 07:59 PM

She said I dont value "women" due to phrasing ive chosen. I disagree. I would say that its more accurate that I dont value obese women or women without teeth as romantic/sexual partners.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/10/25 07:45 PM
2

Idk I feel like women who choose "chads" for casual sex get judged the most I feel like women definitely get more shit for sexual history online. Idk I'd have to actually look into the research about whether that's actually true that women face greater consequences for sexual history in a western society.

So wouldn't she have higher standards for a relationship as well?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/10/25 07:37 PM
1

What do you mean when you say that there are more than two types? Do you mean that the same woman can have both higher standards for casual sex and lower standards for casual sex at different times and using different mediums? Like a woman who goes after Chad on Tinder but hooks up with a less attractive dude at a party when she's drunk and horny?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/10/25 07:36 PM
1

So you're saying that women who claim a higher standard tend to not really engage in casual sex? Interesting.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/10/25 07:30 PM
1

We can pretty confidently that if you were to survey a bunch of women and average out the results you would see that women tend have higher standards for casual sex. However, group averages conceal individual variation. There are women who claim they have the same standards for casual sex as they do for a relationship and cite their marriage as proof. Then there are women on reddit who claim that casual sex is only reserved for their ideal physical type and that theyre much less selective for re…

Can you explain this further?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/10/25 07:25 PM

So what does that have to do with physical standards? Are you saying that they become less selective when ovulating and likely to hook up with the most convenient guy available?

Care to elaborate?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/10/25 07:20 PM

I'm not attracted to obesity and I don't find women without teeth attractive. I've come into contact with plenty of women who've had casual sex. Generally the ones who had higher physical standards for casual sex tend to use dating apps/social media while those who met guys in real life and preferred the guy to approach them ended up with much less conventionally attractive men. I dont really want to get into an argument over the wording I've chosen so if you're going to keep pressing the topic,…

Your "confounding variables" argument doesn't actually hold up. To give an extreme example, if 30% of men wearing a green t-shirt are axe murderers and 5% of men with white tshirts are axe murderers, then it doesn't matter if there is the color of ones tshirt correlates or causes axe murderhood. One would still reduce their statistical risk of being murdered with an axe by avoiding men with green shirts. At best you would just be able to argue that you stand a 70% chance of not being murdered by…

Define rational or useful? I think that for a man looking to minimize divorce risk, infidelity, and maximize marital satisfaction, sexual history provides a very useful proxy for how a partner will behave in a committed relationship. I don't really see many downsides for selecting partners based on sexual history other than restricting the pool of eligible partners. I don't really see much upside in marrying a woman who has a had a bunch of partners unless you have difficulty finding partners in…

There is a lot of evidence that attention on dating apps is highly unequal and follows a Pareto distribution. Since we don't have any actual internal data from the apps, likely because doing so would cause many men to get demoralized and delete the apps in their entirety, we have to rely on third-party data collection to get a sense of how the apps work. We know that men swipe right significantly more often than women do. Connections, on the other hand, tend to be more equal. Meaning that even t…

Go fuck yourself. Worry about your own dating life. If anything you should be glad that plenty of men don't want to marry promiscuous women. Less competition for you. Before you respond with "why do you care that men marry promiscuous women?", I'll respond with IDGAF if they do. I just wanted to understand the reasoning behind it and if they understood the dynamics behind casual sex. The OKCupid survey conclusively debunks the 80/20 rule, and no evidence exists to support it, so that's a good start. Anyone who seriously believes that the 80/20 rule applies to anything beyond dating apps lacks critical thinking skills. (It isn't quite 80/20, but it is close to it). What specifically do you want me to prove?

Curious, what data and facts do you have to justify your worldview? Pretty much my entire worldview comes from books published by reputable university presses and studies published in reputable academic journals within the last 5 years. I have no interest in promiscuous women at least for anything serious. This hasn't been my experience at all. Most women who don't sleep around dont care if a guy doesnt want to date a woman who sleeps around. The logic doesnt follow. If a guy is actively turning down promiscuous women because he doesnt want to date them, then that would imply that he does have options. If anything its the men without options who end up with women like that because there is pretty much no rational reason why any…

People who tend to have a higher number of sexual partners tend to have much less stable marriages, lower marital satisfaction, infidelity, and higher rates of personality disorders than who don't. If that doesn't convince you that these people don't make good parents, nothing else will. Funny thing is that those people tend to be much less likely to have kids anyway, so it seems like they're well aware that they aren't cut out to become parents.

You’re assuming that all/most men who have casual sex go after women they see as beneath themselves. No, it’s not a “must” for a man to do that, if he’s not desperate. Most guys I know who do / used to have a lot of casual sex, only put in the effort to get with women they’re very attracted to. They had standards because they could “afford” to. They'll put in the "effort" to pursue women they're highly attracted to, but if a woman who is mildly attractive or even not repulsive offers him unambig…

Interesting. Generally, most studies show that men are less discerning when it comes to the sexual histories of their partners when it's just sex. Most men seem to care quite a bit when it comes to marriage, however. I'd say that it's pretty normal for men to have an aversion to promiscuity when looking for a wife. I would say that many men who claim not to care about sexual history tend not to really care about marriage and have no interest in raising kids with a woman. If you don't really care…

Yes, they did. As everyone does. No one gets their ideal partner. The point I was trying to make is that yes, women lower their physical standards for relationships and raise them for casual sex. These men disagreed with that

I never said that their partner weren't attracted to them. You learned reading comprehension in school, right? How about rereading what I wrote? I was arguing with them that women raise their physical standards for casual sex and that men lower them, which is absolutely true.

Which points specifically do you want me to prove? Are there more men than women looking for casual sex? Are men less selective than women are for casual sex? Is it very easy for a woman to get a much more attractive man to sleep with her than it is for her to get married? Which point would you have me prove that would justify going through Google Scholar and demonstrating the obvious?

It's possible that he was attracted to them on some level or at least not actively repulsed by her. A lot of guys have casual sex just to try it and lower their standards in order to do it. I mean, maybe the validation seeking really was very desperate, but that's a whole other issue and not one lesser than the fact that someone maybe has been with an attractive person before. Not sure how this is relevant.

It’s just not true. For your question to work, all women would have to “fuck up” in every single instance. No, it doesn't, it just has to be true more often than not. I never said that women "always" fuck up. It's just that the economics of the casual sex market allows them to do so quite easily. Just because a woman decided to hook up with a guy on her level, maybe 20% of the time doesn't mean that would give a man a valid reason to believe that it "doesn't get any hotter than him." Let's think about this logically. If we accept that: 1. There are far more men than women looking for casual sex at any given time. Men are much less selective about whom they sleep with than women. Then the logical inference from these two points is that women can get a more desirable man for casual sex than they can for marriage. Look, I'd love to live in a world where I could casually fuck as many women as I want who are just as attractive as my long-term partners, but that just isn't the rea…

The question was what motivated men to marry women like that and if they understood the dynamics behind casual sex. Eh, I think most women have casual sex 1 or 2 times and then decide not to do it again. Yes, the median number of lifetime sexual partners for men is higher than it is for women. The problem is that a lot of men had to lower their standards in order to achieve that body count. It may not necessarily be true that a woman hooked up with a dude out of her league, especially if she met her partners in real life and the guy approached her, but it's almost certainly true on dating apps and social medi…

Even if she wanted to do so, she wouldn't be able to exercise the option to do so. I think its more accurate to say that dating has zero sum elements because it can be analyzed as a market that has a scarcity of desirable partners. There are only so many exceptionally attractive ivy league educated people after all. In order for someone to move up in relative attractiveness, someone needs to move down. But you're right, generally the market "clears" at the point at which most people will end up with someone of similar attractiveness as themselves. Would you say that the men wh…
/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/25 11:32 PM

I 100% agree. I think women should generally stay in their lane and allow the man to pursue them. So many social problems result from women pursuing men more attractive than themselves. I'm surprised you care about being pumped and dumped. Didn't you say that you had plenty of sexual partners and ONS?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/25 11:06 PM

Its kind of sad that simply being college educated is seen as a mark of high status when in most of the circles I run in it is considered a bare minimum. I mostly see a college education as a somewhat reliable indicator of critical thinking skills, ambition, and research skills. So you can be with a more desirable man and expand your pool of options to those higher up on your preference list. This is pretty much the whole point of approaching IMO. You trade the risk of rejection for the opportunity to get with a more desirable partner. Generally speaking, the most desirable partner you can get is going to be the one you approach rather than the one who approaches you. This is well established within the Stable Marriage problem which proved that the most "stable match" is…

What would you rate yourself out of 10? Would you say that you generally approach men you see as more attractive than yourself?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/25 10:46 PM

Simple, I approach them. I generally do not approach women I see as beneath me in physical attractiveness unless I'm drunk and horny and looking for an easy lay. I don't care much for status as long as she is college educated. I generally prefer a relationship where the woman is better looking than myself because I find myself wanting to work harder to please her.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/25 10:31 PM

So kind of like finding a rare niche. Interesting. I can kind of liken this to recruiters on LinkedIn trying to fill some super specialized position. Most of the time, they'll try to find someone overqualified for the role and try to lowball them. But at least in some cases they genuinely have a need to for someone to fill some super niche role and have a hard time finding someone qualified and so they'll reach out themselves.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/25 10:28 PM

I 100% agree with this. Men will absolutely go along with it for an easy lay. I've done this myself. I agree with everything else you wrote. I think any guy complaining that women don't approach him isn't particularly bright.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/25 10:14 PM

More physically attractive, higher status etc.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/25 10:11 PM

If its well established that women message guys out of their league on dating apps, how does this play out when it comes to real life approaches?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/25 10:10 PM

So you can get a more attractive guy than you'd be able to get than the men who approach you.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/25 10:00 PM

Messaging someone first does count as an "approach", albeit an online one.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/25 08:45 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/25 08:43 PM

I'm not sure about this. Most of the complaints I see from women about casual sex isn't so much about the emotional aspect, but rather the guy not doing enough to get them off. Most women looking for casual sex don't seem to be doing it for the emotional fulfillment.

If I had a daughter I would probably advise her to stay away from men objectively more attractive than herself and prioritize men who approach men and pursue her because men will absolutely "fuck down" for a short term thing. Would you say that your physical standards change for casual sex/hookups if you were open to that?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/25 03:41 PM

What standards vary based on your own perceived attractiveness?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/25 03:21 PM

So you'd be more likely to turn down a guy who wasn't very muscular during the period in which you were going to the gym very frequently, but became more forgiving when you were less fit. If you suddenly were to become more active in the gym again, would you go back to prioritizing muscularity? Do your standards change as you become more or less attractive?

Were you more open to dating a guy who didn't meet those exact preference when you were less fit?

Would you be more likely to turn down someone who wasn't lanky and tall after you got in shape?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/25 01:32 PM

Congratulations you are an outlier. Your own personal anecdotes do not negate the objective reality that single mothers and promiscuous women are seen as less desirable in the marriage market and that men with lower status are more likely to end up with promiscuous women. I don't give a damn how high value you think your husband is. The overwhelming evidence points that those particular women are by and large ending up with less desirable men.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/06/25 07:22 PM

I'm sorry but this is a load of bull. Men with a lot of options are not falling over themselves to marry women with a bunch of tattoos and single mothers. There is pretty much no real benefit to marrying a promiscuous woman or single mother all things being equal. Men who marry those women often don't have very many options because the higher value women probably got locked down a long time ago. Lower value men are more likely to overlook such things because they lack the bargaining power in the…

I actually agree with this. I think that men should choose a woman they see as deserving of their time and effort instead of choosing someone they think they can get away with the bare minimum.

I'm telling you that this is what those men described when they explained why they went after a less attractive woman. They went for her because they believed that she was less likely to leave him and demand less of him in terms of emotional investment and effort.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/06/25 02:54 PM
2

If by "low maintenance" you mean someone who doesn't need constant reassurance and doesn't spend an extraordinary amount of time and effort on their appearance, then I would agree that those are attractive qualities. But that isn't what these men are saying when they're referring to wanting a low-maintenance partner. They're referring to someone who isn't going to leave them for not putting in enough effort to keep their partner satisfied and is willing to put up with them.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/06/25 02:37 PM

It really depends on why the woman in question is with that average man. If she's with him for his kindness and intelligence, and sense of humor, then his spending time with her is enough for her to feel satisfied in the relationship. There isn't any evidence for the idea that a woman will be happier in a relationship with an objectively more attractive man, but there is a lot of evidence to support the inverse. If it's for his money, then I'd expect that she's only going to stay in so far as th…

Low maintenance as in not really wanting to take his partner out on dates or compliment her, or putting in a lot of emotional investment to keep her satisfied in the relationship. He basically kind of just wanted a woman who didn't expect him to put much effort into the relationship and would kind of put up with his personality. High maintenance in this context would be the reciprocal of this. Expecting your partner to compliment you and be romantic and put in a lot of emotional investment to ke…

I've seen studies to support that as well. Relationships tend to be more stable when the man is taller and has more money and status than his partner.

It wasn't about low maintenance in terms of appearance for these men. It was more that they felt like they didn't need to put in a whole lot of effort to keep their partner satisfied in a relationship. They basically wanted someone who would put up with them without the woman leaving the guy.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/06/25 02:01 PM

From what I understand, it wasn't even so much a compatible values thing with these men who chose less attractive women. They just wanted someone who would kind of put up with them and didn't expect very much of them in terms of effort.

Are you sure that men have a "wider range of what we find attractive"? It seems that there is less variance in what men find attractive than women do save for the small percentage of men who are universally considered attractive. You're free to have your preferences but this is generally not what we see within the literature on relationships. Most studies I've seen on the topic are pretty clear that relationships tend to be happier and more stable when the woman is more attractive than her partner.

And? She went home right afterwards. Don't know what happened after that. If your suggestion is that she slept with some dude that night, I wouldn't know. But considering how easy it is for women to get laid I wouldn't be surprised.

Don't know what exactly was so hard to believe about having a conversation about men not wanting to date promiscuous women.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 07:11 PM

Not a standard: “if she has ever slept with anyone else ever, I will assume he’s better than me and take it out on her any time I feel insecure.” Well yeah obviously, that's simply a statement that doesn't demarcate any real boundaries. I personally don't see anything wrong with only wanting casual sex with promiscuous women and not a relationship with them. It's not "using for sex" if it's mutually agreed upon. However, it is true that a lot of men will feign relationship interest because they …

I didn't originally know that she was worthy of contempt until her charming personality spilled out. An argument could be made that I should have walked away in that moment, but I decided to reason with this person. My "intentions" were simply to have a reasonable conversation about people's preferences and why they might have them. It was only after she began complaining about how unfair it was that men don't want to date her that my intentions were less about "informing" her about why men have…
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 06:35 PM

I definitely felt contempt towards that woman. Not necessarily for her lifestyle but because she felt that it was some sort of injustice that a lot of men didn't want to date her. It may not have been my original intent to hurt her feelings, but I'm not going to lie that I didn't feel some schadenfreude from it.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 06:25 PM

I never said I wanted "validation" for my behavior. I simply stated an observation that a lot of women use the "go to therapy" shtick whenever a guy expresses some emotions or boundaries that make them feel like they're unwanted or exclude them from their dating pool. People are free to disagree with that original point all they want. The satisfaction I derived from telling a woman who complained about men not wanting to date her that she wasn't entitled to a relationship was involuntary on my p…

How the hell is complaining that people not wanting to date you not being entitled? Just accept that people don't want to date you and move on. Just take the rejection and move on. Would you say the same thing about men who complain endlessly about women not wanting to date them? No one is entitled to a relationship and everyone is entitled to their own standards. The rational argument that I was making is that it isn't a societal injustice that people don't want to date you and people can rejec…
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 05:58 PM

How does it invalidate anything? I was providing a rational argument for why she shouldn't complain about certain men not wanting to date her, I just happened to get a kick out of saying it at the same time. Nothing wrong with putting an entitled brat back in her place. I'm only human after all. No harm no foul.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 05:47 PM

So yes, you did it to hurt her. No, I just said that I felt satisfaction from telling an entitled brat that no one is obligated to date her. It wasn't my original intent to hurt her. She was whining that a lot of guys didn't want to date her and was lashing out at men who rejected her, so I simply told her the blunt truth that we can't always get what we want and that our actions have consequences. Get therapy. Stop taking out your anger and insecurity on random women. For telling the truth?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 05:24 PM

I did say "I" during the conversation with that woman. But, I also spoke for men who think the same way I do.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 05:17 PM

I would say that this isn't the norm, but whatever, I'll take your word for it.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 05:04 PM

I didn't mean all men. I meant men who don't want to date promiscuous women.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 04:49 PM

You used this to attack her. You’ve clearly been inching to tear this woman apart I'll be honest, I did feel a sense of satisfaction from telling her that she wasn't entitled to a relationship. I never said that all men don't want to date her. I just provided an explanation for why a lot of men don't want to date her.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 04:38 PM

You can discard my opinion if you want. I honestly couldn't care less at this point. Just don't expect people to want to date you or give a shit about your whining.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 04:36 PM

How is that not purity culture? Because my preference exists independently of whether society at large tells me it is "good" or "bad" to date promiscuous women.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 04:34 PM

Never said that they didn't. But lets be perfectly honest here, women can get a far more objectively attractive dude than they can realistically obtain for a committed relationship and that more often than not the guys that they have a relationship with pale in comparison physically to the guys they've hooked up with. Women know this accutely. If they could find a guy who meets hookup standards and relationship standards, that would be the ideal. But, unfortunately many women know full well that…

Not sure how anything you wrote contradicts what I wrote other than accuse me of being inexperienced. Pretty much every study that we have on the topic and a simple Tinder experiment can prove that. Just because you…
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 04:05 PM

Back up your claims. A preference would be "I just prefer women who are more sexually reserved." You're saying that you think women that sleep around aren't valuable partners. Defend that. Wouldn't really be very difficult to argue that they make less valuable partners. They are much more likely to be unfaithful in a marriage and are statistically less likely to have happy and stable marriages. They're far more likely to have Cluster B personality disorders than non-promiscuous people. I know wh…

The barber analogy doesn’t really work here. Dating isn’t a service transaction. It’s a mutual emotional and personal connection, not a trade of skills. Treating it like “I bring X, so I expect Y” flattens people into commodities and that mindset tends to breed resentment more than real connection. I think it's a fair assumption that people bring different qualities "to the table" in a relationship. For some people those qualities are a sense of humor and emotional intelligence, for others its t…

It’s not surprising she acted the way she did. It makes people naturally defensive. Maybe she should "go to therapy" for that lol. So because that’s a general trend for some women, You’re going to put that on every woman you ever date? Where did I say I was putting that on every woman I dated? Under that logic, any preference you have is "put on any partner you date" because anyone who doesn't meet those prerequisites are filtered out from your dating pool. Sure, people can have whatever standards they want, but that doesn’t make those standards immune to critique. When someone holds others to expectations they don’t meet themselves, it’s not just “unrealistic” it’s hypocritical. And hypocrisy isn’t a neutral quirk, it’s a pattern that reflects entitlement and lack of self-awareness, which does affect relationships and dating outcomes. Critque away. But understand that people can then in turn critique you for caring about what other people do with …
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 02:51 PM

Lol I'm going to get downvoted for saying this. Women don't need to be "attractive" in order to get a hot dude for a ONS. They literally just need to make it easy enough and be willing to take the risks needed in order to do it. Plenty of guys will lower their standards considerably for casual sex. I would argue that the same logic that you use to rule out guys who pay for sex can be used to rule out women who engage in casual sex with guys who were obviously lowering their standards on dating a…
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 02:40 PM

Not wanting to date someone for their sexual history is totally fine but saying that it's because men don't want to feel like a downgrade is an unhealthy way of thinking. This is just your opinion. There isn't anything really "unhealthy" about it unless you feel like it's negatively affecting your life in any way.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 02:39 PM

Fair. It doesn't matter if she comes to terms with reality. People will still choose to date whomever they want regardless of how 'unfair' it is.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 02:37 PM

Most women will say openly that they have higher physical standards for a hookup than they do for a relationship. It is extremely easy for an unattractive woman to get ONS with a man far more attractive than herself because men lower their standards considerably for casual sex, and the economics of the casual sex market on dating apps allow her to do so. Insecurity is only a problem if we believe it is or if we believe that those emotions are invalid.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 02:36 PM

It doesn't really matter if she says it openly or not. If it's the truth, it is the truth whether it is spoken or not. I wouldn't want to date someone who had those trust issues, but I guess if that was she demanded out of her partner than that is her choice. Good luck to her for finding a guy who is willing to agree those condiditons. 'Fairness' is irrelevant.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 02:34 PM

Where did I say that it wasn't an insecurity? Agree with the second part of what you said.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 02:30 PM

Therapy is good for many reasons, but the way a lot of people seem to do the whole "go to therapy" schtick as a way of invalidating someone's emotions because they don't like hearing about them or don't think that they are a valid way to respond to a situation. Imagine a guy telling his wife, who felt stressed about being harassed at work, saying, "Stop whining about it and go to therapy." Nobody wants to feel like their emotions are an invalid response to a real issue that they face.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 02:27 PM

Fair enough, they are some guys who genuinely don't care about sexual history. But, I think it's best if everyone just accepts that their actions have consequences and no one is entitled to a relationship. It isn't some societal injustice that people don't want to date you. Just accept the rejection and move on.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 02:24 PM

No people can have whatever standards they want regardless of how "hypocritical" they are. A morbidly obese unemployed woman is allowed to want Channing Tatum. They just need to be realistic about their ability to find someone who meets their standards and accept the consequence of having them.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 02:19 PM

Even if it is, what of it? People shouldn't date someone they don't feel comfortable with. I doubt most women would be perfectly fine with a man telling her "I don't find you as attractive as my previous partners, but you're the safe convenient option". Should those women seek therapy as well?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 02:18 PM

It's not 'blaming her for it'. It's just not feeling comfortable with being a physical downgrade or not being good enough for her while she was in her hook up phase with dudes out her league. Also, who are you to tell other people what is a 'solid boundary' and what is not?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 02:16 PM

No it's not. People are entitled to whatever standards they want. People should date someone they feel comfortable with instead of dating someone they don't feel comfortable around. To go to therapy for something you don't feel comfortable with assumes that the underlying emotions around it are invalid or 'wrong'. I don't see anything inherently wrong with not feeling comfortable dating a girl who slept around. People can do whatever they want with their lives but don't expect other people to wa…

I agree, people shouldn't treat dating like a job interview. It's just that more often than not, I find that men looking for a relationship off dating apps seem to kind of just take whatever is in front of them and tell the woman whatever it is she wants to hear.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/04/25 07:10 PM
1

Would you that you're in better shape/more conventionally attractive than your wife? I've noticed that among couples who meet off dating apps, the guy is usually more attractive than the woman whereas it's usually the opposite for couples who meet in real life.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/04/25 06:21 PM

Did you meet your spouse off a dating app? If you did, how many dates did you go on?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/04/25 05:56 PM

Yep. But, I don't really use dating apps. I'm trying to hear from those who actually met their spouse off a dating app. Anecdotally, the men I've met IRL who met their partners off dating apps basically just ended up with the first girl who was willing to go on a date with them of acceptable attractiveness.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/04/25 05:11 PM
1

So you never actually had a ONS off a dating app and you more or less went after guys on your level. Then of course, the exact situation I laid out on the OP doesn't apply to you. Casual sex comes in different varieties. I know people who engaged in exactly the type of casual that I specified in the OP and all of them were miserable.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/04/25 10:32 AM
1

Didn't you say in your previous comments that you don't really use dating apps for hookups? Didn't you say that you mostly met your partners at bars and through your social circles? I'd say the dynamics that I specified in the OP only really applies to ONS on dating apps.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/04/25 10:04 AM
2

Yes, its better for everyone involved if men raised their standards and didn't sleep with women they weren't attracted to. But its kind of like a chicken or the egg situation. There are fewer women on dating apps because of desperate men who are shitty lays. But because there are fewer women, men become desperate and lower their standards and become shitty lays.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/04/25 10:28 PM

"I am terrible at sex, but" I don't really see an argument here. It's not really addressing the point made in the OP. Believe whatever you want to believe.

I'm sure all these factors play a role, but it does seem to be the case the clitoral stimulation seems to occur less during casual encounters. Even during casual dating situations (where there presumably is no alcohol involved), there seems to be lower orgasm rates than during a LTR.

Close your eyes and fantasize about women you're actually attracted to, porn, viagra, etc.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/04/25 08:31 PM

Probably not. I think it becomes evident as the guy has sex with her. Like not really looking at her face while having sex, turning the light out, etc. I was always just assumed the implication was there by virtue of a woman receiving interest from men who wouldn't give her the time of day in real life and the common knowledge that men lower their standards considerably for hookups on dating apps.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/04/25 08:04 PM

Don't sleep with desperate dudes off dating apps. I already mentioned this in my OP. Vet for mutual attraction and mutual respect. Probably should avoid hookups with random strangers tbh.

Eh, I would say that if she's a 4 going after a 4 then the dynamic I've set out tends to not apply as much. But then again, that's unlikely to end in a ONS, since a male 4 is going to try to hold onto that for dear life since he probably gets no matches lol. But my general observations is that women will usually try to get a dude way more attractive than herself if all she wants is a ONS.

I thought it was pretty common knowledge at this point that men lower their standards considerably on dating apps. I could be wrong though, I've met women in real life who seemed to be blissfully unaware of that dynamic.

I just think that it's kind of ridiculous to expect someone to care about your pleasure when it's common knowledge that men will lower their standards considerably for hookups on dating apps. Both people are benefiting from the interaction in some way, otherwise they wouldn't have engaged in it. But expecting someone to care about your pleasure when you obviously don't really care if your partner finds you attractive doesn't really make sense does it?
/r/PurplePillDebate08/04/25 07:11 PM

Just somebody gives someone pleasure doesn't necessarily mean that they care about whether they do or not. I think that both parties are getting something out of it. The woman gets to hookup with a super hot guy who would never give her the time of day otherwise. The guy gets his rocks off.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/04/25 07:08 PM
-14

Hey I never said it was logical. But I think both people during that encounter are prioritizing their own self interests. Why should he care about the pleasure of a woman he's dumpster-diving for? Why should a woman care about the pleasure of a man she knows is dumpster-diving and wouldn't look twice at her in real life?
/r/PurplePillDebate08/04/25 07:05 PM

I don't really believe this. There is actually a great deal of agreement as to who the most attractive people are. If it's too good to be true, it probably is. A morbidly obese short guy who goes to a strip club and gets a lapdance from a hot 20 something year old stripper knows exactly that its fantasy and nothing more.

If someone didn't care about whether or not you actually found them attractive during sex, I would say that this means you don't actually care if they enjoy it. Similar to how men who sleep with prostitutes don't truly care if the prostitute enjoys sex. Any attempts to please your partner during that situation would only be done in order to ease your guilt about engaging in that situation.

It's not just the woman's fault. Both parties are to blame for putting themselves in this situation. There is nothing forcing a man to lower his standards considerably and sleep with a woman he isn't attracted to. But to knowingly go after some desperate guy off a dating app who likely isn't attracted to you is just asking for a bad experience.

That's assuming that he's telling her that he finds her attractive. If he does lie about being attracted to her in order to get sex, then I'd say the man likely bears the moral culpability. But, I'd say that a woman knowingly going after men who likely wouldn't look twice at her in real life still bear some of the responsibility for putting themselves in that situation.

Yes someone can still enjoy casual sex even if their partner doesn't actually care if they truly enjoy it. The point that I'm trying to make is that women are not completely innocent in this dynamic. She doesn't care if he finds her attractive, so why should he care if she gets off?

I'm saying that if a woman doesn't care about whether her partner finds her attractive or actually respects her and tries to fuck some desperate dude off a dating app, she doesn't actually care about his pleasure. "His desperation isn't my problem"

Dude this is just incredibly delusional on all levels. Pretty much every study ever conducted tells us that people end up in committed relationships with people who are similar in attractiveness, education, etc. Just because a woman in her 50s and 60s can get some guy in his 20s to consistently sleep with her for a year or two does not mean he is in a LTR with her. Honestly, it's tragic that these men that you're referring to are degrading themselves like that and that those women you're referri…

Most women who engage in casual sex with random strangers have higher standards than they would for a relationship because of the economics of the casual sex market within spaces where casual sex happens. I would say that you are likely an outlier, unless you have some sort of fantasy requirements for a long-term relationship that aren't realistic or you were deliberately going after men of similar attractiveness as yourself because you believed that it would result in better outcomes. Again like I said before, I'm talking about what "usually" comes to mind. ONS are fairly rare and make up a minor portion of all casual sex encounters. The Tinder/club ONS is not representative of the casual sex that most people have. I think that women who do partake in ONS on Tinder and at the club make up a minority of women. Hence when women say "I have similar physical standards for casual sex", they're referring to something completely different than the type of women who do hookup with st…

There was actually a study done by Terri Conley a while ago about what it would take for a woman to agree to have sex with a stranger. I remember it saying that it would take Orlando Bloom or Brad Pitt or something for a majority of women to agree to it.

I agree. Most women don't want a hookup with a random stranger. It's more so that of the women who do hookup with random strangers, it's likely that they would have far higher physical standards than for a relationship.

That's not really the point that I'm trying to make. What I'm talking about is when women refer to "casual sex", they usually aren't referring to the same scenario as what most men imagine. If you were to ask women what their standards are for a ONS/fuckbuddy situation with a random stranger, then I would say that most women would say that they have far higher physical standards than for a relationship. The women who claim to have constant standards for casual sex aren't referring to random hook…

I don't disagree with that take. It's more so that if you were to ask men and women "what are your standards for casual sex?", they're going to be imagining two completely different scenarios. A man's immediate reaction is to think about Tinder hookups. A woman's immediate reaction is to think about her friend that she got intimate with.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/04/25 08:59 PM

I don't disagree, but I think that this particular type of casual sex is something few women actually seek out. It's a specific type of personality that engages in that particular type of casual sex.

I think part of it also comes down to the fact that these dudes would kind of tell her whatever it is she wanted to hear in order to sleep with her. From the way she described it, they would kind of act like they could potentially see themselves dating her. Of course these guys never followed through and ghosted her pretty much right afterwards. Maybe these women get caught up in the fantasy.

I think it was always the case that if a woman made her very easy, she could get a guy more attractive than herself for casual sex. I do think that women were much more limited in their ability to get shredded male model types for a hookup because she was less likely to come into contact with these men. I think the closest thing to what you see on dating apps today was when fat women would try to hookup with drunk dudes at the club by throwing themselves at them. Like literally walking up to a r…

Did you meet your partners in real life or on dating apps? I think this mindset of not caring about mutual attraction tends to be more prevalent on dating apps than in women who exclusively date men within their social circles.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/04/25 04:56 PM
1

I think you see this particular type of woman a lot on dating apps in particular. I can imagine that if most of a man's dating experience comes from dating apps, he would get the mindset that most women are sociopathic whores who couldn't care less about mutual attraction and exclusively go after Chads.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/04/25 04:50 PM

I know people that it's worked for. I know people who met their spouse off a dating app. Generally the highest reward to effort ratio will always be IRL. Again, most people aren't really cold DMing people on social media. It's more that people are using social media as a follow up to IRL interactions. A lot of people who use social media to find their partner have conversations stemming from posts from mutual connections.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/03/25 11:25 PM

Yes. It wasn't very effective for making any meaningful interactions.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/03/25 11:14 PM

Never said it was very effective. I said it was more effective than online dating. Most people aren't dating people they've never met before on social media. It's more common for people to use social media as a follow up IRL interactions. Basically social media replaced giving out people's numbers.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/03/25 11:12 PM
-2

Sure, if a woman wants casual she can get casual. For women looking for a LTR, she's more likely to get success finding that through social media since it's less risky than meeting up random strangers. Men can probably get more attractive women as well since women tend to be more open to dating men who are already pre-vetted.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/03/25 11:08 PM
1

People are significantly restricted in their options when relying purely on extended social circles alone. You don't really have as much access to "Chads" when people are limited to 2 degrees of seperation. Social media serves an intermediary between people who already connected to each other in some way.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/03/25 10:37 PM

This is very interesting. Though, the difference between marriage and sexual relations wasn't quite as high. When it says "sexual partner", it doesn't seem to differentiate between long-term and short-term partners.

The reality is that women can get a much hotter guy for casual sex than they can get for a relationship when both parties are aware that it is going to be casual. The idea that can she can get commitment from the guy she can sleep with casually is hard to wrap your head around.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/03/25 07:01 PM

Just curious but did you message him or did he message you? Were you subconsciously targeting men "on your level"? I know that clubs and apps are notorious for men looking for easy sex and low standards

To be honest, when men say that "men will sleep with anything", they're not really talking about themselves. They're really referring to a segment of men who are very sexually prolific and indiscriminate who make up the bulk of the men actively looking for casual sex. You kind of need to have zero standards in order to compete in the casual sex market on dating apps in particular.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/03/25 05:05 PM

The only way this could be true is if a guy hooks with a woman within his social circle with relatively even gender ratios and there is ambiguity as to the outcome of the interaction. Like the guys in her social circle can't know the woman is open to hooking up. If the dudes knew, they'd all be clamoring for access and she's only going to pick the hottest guy.

My question is how would this even be possible considering that: Men have much lower standards for casual sex There are far more men than women looking for casual sex. By virtue of having more options, it would make complete sense why a woman would raise their standards for casual and lower their standards for LTR/marriage where the ratios tend to be far more even.

Dude read my comment over again. I never said "if a man is willing to commit, he’s in her league”. I said a woman's league is "the general caliber of man she can expect to marry her given her attributes". She could end up with a man below or above her league. The final outcome doesn't actually determine her "league". Just like a guy could end up with a woman way more attractive than himself despite not having much going for him, it is entirely possible for someone to punch above their weight.

Jesus, I hate being politically correct and having to explain the obvious. Especially to men since they can't live in a delusional fantasy on dating apps like women can. A woman's "league" is the general caliber of man she can expect to marry her given her attributes. If she ends up in a relationship or marriage with a man beyond what could be reasonably inferred given her desirability, then we can say that she ended up with a man "out of her league". Leagues are determined by the sexual marketp…

Men have a much harder time finding sexual partners that they're actually attracted to. Plenty of guys sleep with women they don't find attractive for this exact reason. Women can very easily get a guy way out of their league for casual sex. The only advantage that a guy might have is that he could have sex with someone he finds ugly and still get off because it's better than his hand.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/25 04:45 PM
-5

Well of course, if you add in another condition that the man must actually find you attractive in order to have sex, then I would imagine that the vast majority of casual sex would be inherently unsatisfying. But women on here seem to believe that if the standards were just limited to: 1.attractive safe orgasms That men and women have equally as hard of a time. I disagree.

I'd argue that women have not only better access to quantity, but quality as well. Yes, a man can orgasm from casual sex with a woman he doesn't find attractive or even finds ugly. Men have lower standards for casual sex, not necessarily lower standards for a LTR/wife. It is significantly easier for a woman to get casual sex with a man far more attractive than herself than it is for men. There are plenty of attractive men willing to lower their standards considerably for casual sex. Plenty of gu…

It's not that hard to find promiscuous women to be friends with. You'd probably just have to hang out in certain social environments like Meetups and parties and bars. You'd also have to overcome your aversion to do the idea of the guy you're sleeping with sleeping with other women. Most promiscuous women seem to have no problem with this.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/25 04:00 PM
-12

According to women here, satisfying sex is being able to orgasm during sex with a man who cares about your pleasure and she finds attractive. I'd argue that it is still easier for a woman to achieve this standard than it is for an equivalent man because men have a much harder time finding willing partners.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/25 03:57 PM
-1

There is no validation because the guys have near non-existent standards for whom they sleep with. Even if casual sex was suddenly safe and likely to be satisfying, plenty of women would still refrain from doing so because there is no real accomplishment in doing so.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/25 03:53 PM
-2

This is exactly my point. Most women don't engage in casual sex because there is no validation in doing so. Women looking for validation are looking for a LTR/husband because men tend to be more selective in those dynamics. I'm saying that women who refrain from engaging in casual sex aren't necessarily doing so because of a perceived lack of safety or orgasms. They refrain because there is no validation in doing so.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/25 03:50 PM

I'd say reasons 1 and 2 are something that can be resolved pretty easily if you wanted. Reason 3 seems a bit more reasonable to me. If it is as difficult for women to get satisfying sex as you say, promiscuous women would have a vested interest in hoarding the "good in bed" man to herself, given that she took it upon herself to take the risks needed to acquire that man. I'd just assume that the man would have enough surplus sexual energy to sleep with multiple women at once since men tend to hav…
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/25 03:48 PM

Yes, but I'm arguing that reasons for this have less to do with safety or the orgasm gap, but more to do with the fact that there is no validation in getting a guy to sleep with you casually.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/25 03:35 PM
-5

I'm saying that a woman's ease in being able to get sex also translates into her ability to get satisfying sex as well. She would need to ask one of her promiscuous female friends which guy is good in bed or simply just sleep with a guy who seems to be able to sleep with a lot of women which signals that he is good in bed.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/25 03:34 PM

I never said that women were asking men which men are good in bed. I meant that women can ask other promiscuous women for reviews on which guy is good in bed. A woman offering herself casually to a guy is very likely to get an affirmative response.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/25 02:30 PM
-4

Women tend to sleep with the guy that all the other women are already sleeping with. The fact that he slept with a bunch of women and that these women have favorable opinions of him makes him a safe, pleasurable option. I wouldn't know which of my friends is good in bed because I don't hang out with promiscuous people.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/25 02:23 PM
0

I'd say that women can simply ask one of their promiscuous friends which guy is "good in bed". No matter how you tweak it, it's still much easier for a woman to get sex that is satisfying with someone they're actually attracted to than an equivalent man. I'm saying that the reason why they don't do this has less to do with the orgasm gap or even safety, but rather that there is no validation of being desirable in getting a man to sleep with you casually.

I never claimed that people in LTRs can't have satisfying sex. I'm saying that the notion that women are disadvantaged because they don't orgasm during casual sex doesn't hold water when many women who are open to casual sex find ways to orgasm during casual sex. Often by being assertive about their desires. No matter how you twist it, having a large pool of men with low standards is of enormous advantage for women who choose to engage in casual sex.

From what I understand in the article, the difference in sexual satisfaction can be explained by attitudes instead of behavior. If you believe that there isn't anything wrong with uncommitted sex, you're more likely to enjoy casual sex, often more so than committed sex. Women who have uncommitted sex are more likely to do certain things to increase their likelihood of having an orgasm and increase sexual satisfaction.

I made the claim that the number of orgasms doesn't really matter too much for sexual satisfaction and that those who have higher sociosexuality prefer casual sex over committed sex, because, yes, hookup guys are far more attractive than husband material.
