I mean, 1 percent is pretty good if you gave no fucks and approached 5 times a day any woman you want to approach. Of course this calculation only works if it can't backfire.

Which is same the reason used to invade Ukraine in the first place. Fear of what would happen when they join NATO. Keep in mind, no one knows if russia will invade again and we are continually wasting life just to keep them tied up. There are other ways to reduce the likelihood of further russian attack that don't involve indefinite human sacrifice.

I think there is a case to be made that women are less opportunistic. If they were equally as opportunistic then women would cheat at rates much much higher than men, since it is obvious to anyone in this sub that they have more opportunities. Cheating rates appear to be more or less similar, certainly not orders of magnitude different. Of course this depends on the definition of opportunistic. I would define it as such: If we define a quality value q for any opportunity, then the probability fu…

I believe there have been hints at peace since a few months after the war started, when Putin had to face the fact that he wasn't getting Ukraine as easily as he thought. There's a reason Trump claims he'll solve the war on day one. Imagine how many lives would've been saved if only they'd agreed two years ago, after the stalemate-esk situatio started. They won't lose the war, neither side will. Why are they still fighting?

(Repost because I didn't use np.reddit.com earlier and it got deleted) I actually researched this for a response in the past. This is incorrect according to all the research I saw, there is evidence. The ratio is obviously not as high as the diagnosis ratio, but there is still a difference by sex of varying size depending on the source. The biggest meta study I saw found a 3.25 to 1 ratio true ratio compared to the 4.2 to 1 diagnosis ratio. The citations are in the line of comments leading to on…

Yea that's what I figured, but such low n makes it pretty pointless imo, after all if even a 3-fold drop happens within error margins how can you ever make a serious case that the data supports any conclusion regarding the development over time. With that big a margin you could make a wide variety of outlandish claims and point out that it's within the margin of error. The n ain't big enough to be useful for any serious analysis.

Focusing on any criteria other than how they act and you feel around them probably has that effect to some extend certainly. Applies to a lot of areas (i.e. hiring) imo

To add another anecdote on, the only girl I've known to date older men (and in her case I'm talking OOOOOLDER men), and a lot of them, was "littered" with mental health conditions from BPD to OCD. My time in the clinic sure was interesting haha

But surely that swing is WAY to big. We also aren't measuring opinions like in an election poll, which are bound to be very instable. The 2008 drop is literally an anomaly of bigger significance than COVID and just pure coincidence is practically impossible unless their n is much too small. Are you sure they aren't mentioning anything in the paper?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/02/24 07:44 PM

The massive variance of the data is making me suspicious of its accuracy. How in the world can a 3-fold drop followed by a 3-fold increase be explained from 2006 to 2010. Does anyone know if other independent sources also report such numbers?

Does it really? that's very interesting. From my understanding autism and BPD in males is about as far from each other as can be, given I knew some BPD males from my clinic time and everyone knows the cultural image of autistic males. Surprising that it presents THAT differently in women.

Wait wait wait, that sounds like you seem to argue that if those individuals weren't affected by the culture, then it would be equal. That may well be, I don't know, I suppose no one truly does (I mean how could someone? Not like there's any experiment you could reasonably perform without violating A LOT of human right laws haha), but it is entirely orthogonal to what I was attempting to argue, which is that there are differences between the sexes in western cultures. I will only comment on the last part for time reasons: There are some women (that I know personally, and probably more than that) who severely want a relationship basically just to have one and will (and has) accept dates and more from basically almost any man that is offering them. There is an equivalent, at least to some extend. It's as unhealthy as men wanting sex for confirmation (? That's not the word I think but I can't seem to come up with it??), but it does exist.

I think I understand what you mean and I appreciate it. I see the danger you mean, thank you for reminding. Some situations absolutely cannot be recreated by means of analogy and believing it can may lead one to dismiss very real feelings that you yourself just can't recreate or put to much weight on solutions which work in the analogy, but turn out not to translate well over. As a matter of fact the longer I think about it, the less I believe this tool to actually be useful, rather than a dange…

No where have I implied that it wouldn't be different in a different culturey that's the beauty of the argument. We don't need to make any statesments as to where those differences come from, they're absolutely irrelevant. If you wanns be a hardcore biologist or fully constructionist, the end result is the same when it comes to the thoughts and emotions people feel in general in the culture we are discussing! And in the culture I, and probably most people here, live within, the bottle neck is wo…

Of all the valid points you could have picked you decided to imply they're defending child molesters?! Why!? This doesn't help our case! This is silly! For all you know he's a bigger anti-child molester than you are! Alright that all was in jest, but seriously, let's stay on point ;)
/r/PurplePillDebate03/02/24 02:05 AM
2

Right, that's entirely possible, although I do personally believe that at least in principle those differences cannot be entirely cultural. At least a teeny tiny portion must be biological, even if it is entirely dismissable in the grand scheme of things. The reason is that otherwise all biological differences effecting the brain would have to magically cancel out fully. Keep in mind, this is just a mathematical argument that I maintain for my nerdiness, it is entirely orthogonal to the point.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/02/24 02:01 AM
1

But that wasn't the point, the point was that differences evidently exist that lead can to general trends when analyzing the thoughts, feelings and emotional reactions of those groups. They don't have to be fundamental for that! As a matter of fact the negation of my claim would be that any observed trend in thoughts, feelings and emotional reactions ARE merely fundamental rather than cultural.

That's the point, try to read it without assuming things that I haven't said. I always find when I step back and read something from someone I deem as of "the opposite camp" in a way where I only assume things they themselves have said, that what they're saying is a lot more agreeable.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/02/24 12:47 AM
3

I absolutely agree! It's why I would attempt to dismiss those thoughts if I were in a situation like above, but it's still a sorta gut reaction of the inner critic, comparison.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/02/24 12:43 AM
14

Absolutely, which is why I always had a problem with the saying. But surely you agree that the bottleneck for casual sex is in general with women, rather than men. It's not a misandrist lie that a lot more men would enjoy being propositioned for casual sex than women. Its just a claim of fact*, the claim itself can't be misogynist or misandrist. *claim of fact in this case referring to the way it's made, rather than its truth value. Although I do believe it to be true.

A lot of commenters do and I highly doubt that you'd perfectly understand general male reaction in every situation.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/02/24 12:36 AM

It's suspected 4:3 by a study looking at clinical cases and inferring the real rate. Compare this to a META STUDY compiling 20 studies that followed that evaluated for autism in the study, rather than relying on previous diagnosis to account for underdiagnosis! I literally picked the first link I found and it's a more robust result than the one you presented, after you have apparently researched the topic so much (Perhaps you looked until you found a single study that agreed with you?). /r/PurplePillDebate03/02/24 12:18 AM

Yes it IS underdiagnosed! That's what my comment implied! And it does present differently which is why it is underdiagnosed! No one disagrees here! But it's still quite the claim to make that autism presents at equal rates. That does NOT follow from the other facts. As a matter of fact, from your own source """ I do believe that males are more susceptible to ASD than females, but I think we exaggerate the extent of this gender difference, especially amongst people with normal-range IQ and fluent…

I think you misunderstand what this post is about, I'm proposing an analogy a person can use to possibly arrive at similar feelings the opposite sex might feel in a situation that one has a hard time understanding another persons feelings. You don't lie to anyone, you're just picturing a different situation than just flipping the sexes and picturing that.

They're still capable of being lonely long term Yes, of course! I think you're attributing all red pill concepts to my view while I really only believe a handful of them and certainly to a lesser extend than the redpill (i.e. general trends vs all women, all men idiocy). I excuse the claim that the differences have lead to cultural norms, that can clearly be debated and proof is of course very hard to come by (or even imagine what it could look like. Do you think most single men would take negatively to being propositioned by an average gal for a fwb situation? Also, minor, very much depends on what you mean. For example, I believe it likely that biologically rooted psychological differences aren't that great, but those have evidently lead to cultural norms which are quite significantly different. I mean, surely you can agree with the idea that, in general, a man being propositioned for sex by an average woman will react much better than a w…

How is it not arrogant to assert a personal opinion going against current scientific standard as fact without justification?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/02/24 11:14 PM

Compliments that matter most are ones from someone who genuinely cares about you as a person This is something that I'm sure is healthy, but I just can't get my head around. Surely, those people will have a skewed view, making their compliments less objective, no? Like, if my mom told me I'm handsome, that really did nothing for me. 5 points is an overwhelming difference if the total is 18 points. It's more than 1.5 times the men! I don't neccesarily agree with the other guy but that was a stupid comment.

Well, "experiences" are usually based on a few founding examples followed by a lot of confirmation bias. Just how humans work. There's a reason why no two people have the exact same opinions. And all of us think we're the ones who got it figured out. Maybe value your observations a bit less. Unless you think it's everyone else except you that has a warped view of reality.

Look, I'm not here to solve societal issues. Sure it would be great if men weren't so unphysical with each other and many men didn't feel so lonely because of it, but most are and we can't change that. Just try to make our tiny little circle of impact a little bit better and help our friends best we can. There are some ideas which are taboo in most circles. Things which can never be questioned. I don't like that that's a thing. If they're perhaps wrong (or not the whole story), then obviously that's bad, but even if they're correct, them not being discussed means you never see WHY they're correct. What the implications are. The deeper reasons. Also I've heard a lot of advice on how to act or not to act here that I didn't really think of before. Wether it's women being uncomfortable in some situa…

It's shitty and there's no way for you to fix that it's that way, but I guess one thing you can personally do, other than contribute to the way it is, is literally spelliing it out that you aren't into them that way while doing those gestures, even if it seems aw…

I wouldn't agree. 50/50 implies you aren't doing as much as you can. Basically going "yea I did enough, she's gotta step it up a notch, she ain't doing more so I won't" If you're thinking that, it's already a bad sign. In a good relationship you'd assume of your partner that they're doing their best to balance both your needs, doing as much as they can, not just trying to do as much as is expected. I guess I get what you mean, if what is accomplished is considered 100% then 100/100 is equivalent…

Actions over words. Now I don't mean having sex. Go out of your way to see him. Don't let him pay. Someone stringing him along wouldn't do that. Also the cooking thing you mentioned. I like to plan my interactions so that there is no objective benefit to me other than seeing the other person and spending time with them. But do combine it with telling him I suppose. But the actions will make your words genuine.

I did some math, and here's something interesting to consider. There were around 630,000 abortions in 2019, let's multiple that by around 20 years of fertility (could be more, but we'll also assume some of them are repeat aborters, so it probably evens out) and we get about 13 million abortions per 350 million people, so per 170 million women Which results in a about 1/12 chance of an abortion over your lifetime. Since most women wouldn't require an abortion, is it really an inequality that they…

Not really sure what it is you can do about it. You won't change that many women will act that way, that's for sure. Maybe a different approach to dealing with that? Completely cut them out of dating you if they show signs of using those measure? I suppose you could. Not quite sure what ideas you have in mind but do share!

But this is something that comes up in almost all types of situations, isn't it? Sure, if you can do something about people trying to break into your house, it's useful to let it bother you. But if it's something that you just can't change, the path to misery is paved with self-pity and rumination. Of course radical acceptance is not easy, but it would surely leave you better of if you can manage practicing it.

Pretty sure the claim is based on the ratings being by their own judgement of what AVERAGE looks like. Kinda like this: Rate this person between 1 and 9, 5 being average ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) "average, 5" and the 80th percentile of men by rating score a 5 on average. It's not logically inconsistent. Wow, you've gotten that fucked up that you'll even question something like that? The hell do you work in that your view of women is that screwed up. But fine, if you want specifics: She basically did all the house work there is, going around the house, cleaning every room, washing all of the clothes, doing dishes, doing everything my father was incapable of doing due to sickness, basically. I'll recount one of her visits as good as memory allows me to, if you so wish. She comes by, greats me and…

Think of the women in your family Funny that you'd say something like that, because the women in my family were/are arguably the hardest working people I know. My aunt for example, whenever she was over she was basically working all the time, helping us in every way possible, and would only complain under the rarest of circumstances. Hell, it was difficult to get her to take a brake because she was so eager to help. Easily the most conscientious and agreeable person I know. My mother even after …

I'm guessing you believe her getting 2 degrees in physics is just propaganda and lies too then? Jesus Christ, please tell me you're just trolling.

(The mind of a female is completely destroyed in adolescence with the massive destruction caused by a serge in estrogen, but that is a discussion for another day). How the fuck do you explain Marie Curie and other female scientific geniuses then.

That's why I wrote "I suspect". That one wasn't an argument, more of a idea on the subject that just popped into my mind as one possible reason. The other two were though. Good that you pointed out the suicidal ideation thing, though. Didn't look into it as much as it just seemed very likely considering women are higher in neuroticism. By the way half the reason Guess I should've phrased it as "One possible reason" to be more representative of what I was saying, though.

Scratch the suicide statistic. The only reason we make up 80 % of suicides it's cause we're so goddamn good at actually doing it. Women attempt suicide about 3 times more than men. So we're literally just 12 times better at killing ourselves than women are. Next up: workplace deaths. Men choose more dangerous jobs in the same way women choose lower paying jobs. Implying that because we die more often in the workplace it's somehow rigged against us is as ridiculous as implying women get paid less…

Look at the reddit demographic. Pretty much every other subreddit is a XYChromosome subreddit.

My comparison is the way the jews had their rights removed in Nazi Germany. We probably agree, but just have different standards of what we consider a war.

Yes and usually I agree with you but I doubt there is a "war" being fought. Maybe my formulation was a bit inaccurate. There's a lot of actual male discrimination going on and just the fact that feminism's biggest concern is that they might lose some abortion rights shows that their movement is not needed. I don't think it's anything close to a "war on men" or something like that. Maybe if feminism and misandry grow a lot in the upcoming years, but right now, not even close. There's just a very …

Nope. Maybe a bit of a disadvantage in some aspects, advantage in others. Might have the slightly shorter stick in society, but it isn't anything too significant. After all men's better biological advantages are also pretty nice.

Switch the genders and I doubt anyone would even for a second believe this to be real, because it would be so absolutely ludicrous. But thanks to feminism one's reaction might even be "meh... I've seen worse."

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
