Don't limit yourself. It's not going to get "complicated" just because you cuddled, or talked too many times a week, or kissed too much. She is much more likely to end it because you applied rapport-breaking restrictions that made her feel cheap in an otherwise enjoyable situation. The beginning of something like that is sweet and exciting, so make as much of it as you can. Don't overrate the control you have over the situation. It will end, enjoy it while it lasts.

For a very hot girl, demonstrations of interest from a guy are the normal state of affairs. Someone who disregards her just a little bit can intrigue simply by virtue of being different.

Sorry it went that way. People are complicated, girls seem even more so to us because they're so different, especially where romance and sex is concerned. It's hard to know why she acted that way. If I had to guess from what you wrote + the one sentence you quoted in the title, I'd say she has a specific, probably highly romanticized view of her "first man". She's probably reasonably attractive and gets approached enough that she's not concerned about getting sex, eventually, when she will reall…

Unfortunately, the "just be social and you'll find her" approach hasn't worked for me in the several years I've been out of school. I've met hundreds of women, but can count on one hand those who impressed me intellectually. And yes, those handful were amazing women, but as we all know, there's a lot that can go wrong or just plain not work when the numbers are low enough. So one has a boyfriend, another is not interested and the third is in a weird stage of her life - and thus several years of …

You were just overthinking it. Relax, the girl is into you. And even if she isn't: relax.

Also, she went out of her way to come find me at one point when I walked off to another part of the party. Great! Anyway, I probably should have/could have taken her home, but for some reason I didn't have the balls to go for an f-close in the same night so I just got her number. Why? You should have at least tried. This is pretty typical for me. I can usually get good vibes going at parties and get a girls number, but after that point I just kind of have no game. You don't need "game" at that p…

there has to be more than simply sticking it in her that leads to a relationship. You're absolutely right. Having sex with a woman is not a fool-proof way of getting her into a relationship. However, not having sex with her does guarantee you won't be getting into one.

It's hard to impossible in the general case. Most parties or "social situations" are composed of multiple individuals and sub-groups with non-overlapping interests. Even if you're extremely good at one thing - like, telling interesting stories - the group or parts thereof would eventually react in a way that is incompatible with what you're trying to do. The only people I've seen doing anything like control a large, heterogeneous group either had immense social value (celebrities, business leade…

Bookstores seem like good advice. Not sure where I can find artsy-crowd coffee houses, maybe look around art schools and such. I do find creative, artsy girls to be very attractive. Re basement shows, I had bad experience trying to meet at musical, or any sort of extremely loud venues. Agree that a strong, unique musical taste correlates with other good mental qualities.

A good brain is hard to find. Wish I could disagree. At the beginning, it seemed like looks were the limiting factor. Probably because most girls at my school were pretty smart, and there was fierce competition for the hotter ones. Now I can meet 6-7 hot girls almost any time, unless it's a a weekend night, when I can guarantee probably 20+ very hot girls in certain areas and clubs. But never before have I appreciated intelligence more than I do now. Raw IQ and erudition are so much harder than …

If you want smart girls, you have to go where smart girls are. Smart girls can be found at clubs and bars, they like to have fun too. In case there's any doubt: this is absolutely true. Clubs with their loud music, dim lights, abundance of psychoactive substances and loose social standards hold great appeal to women of all ages and walks of life. I met graduate students at top schools, and at least one very successful career woman (in her 40s, alas). It's like how strip clubs probably have somet…

Thanks, that's a good idea. In general, I should probably hang out more at haunting grounds of smart / artsy people. This thread has already identified two such: a good school's campus, and museums. Wonder what others are relevant.

Hard to answer without further details. How close is she to you? What's the context between you? I'm guessing this is the beginning, and she has no right to ask that, so you should basically shrug it off, but you should know what vibe works best on her when doing that: it can be humorous, coy, playful, deadpan... "Oh, uhm, I can see like 5-6 girls from where I'm standing" "Oh oh, getting jealous already?! ;-)" "About a hundred I think? Let me check my calendar" "409" etc.

First of all, accept that you very well might fuck up. We all did at the beginning. Make sure to bring something interesting and engaging to the table. Ask yourself "what is unique and attractive about me?" and try to bring that to the front. The girl will need a reason to take it further, especially if she's hot and has options.

Northwestern U's Chicago Campus is right off North Michigan, between "Miracle Mile" and the lake. [..] I bet there are campus activities going on there all the time. Great idea, but wouldn't it be a problem to get involved in campus activities as a non-student? Thanks for the solid advice.

Wait a minute, you had one hot girl tell the other that you are cute, and touch you, and you're asking how to prevent this situation from ever happening again? I honestly wish something like that happened to me every night I went out. Hell, I'd settle for once every 2 nights. What exactly do you want, to come across as "alpha"? Dude, the girl gave you an indication of interest, and free license to touch her back, and you're complaining?

It's a great sign, regardless of whether it indicates interest or not. I'd be a bit more certain of interest on their part if it was happening when you were alone. But the key thing is that it indicates a fairly honest connection, and gives you a lot of freedom. Picking up a girl is about being intimacy and edginess. If a girl is teasing and picking on you, both elements are already present in the relationship. Now go and make something of it.

Thanks, I tried that. It wasn't bad, but from the sound of it, London is far better than Chicago for doing that :-)

Exactly. OP, you already spent wayyy too much time and energy thinking about this one girl. It's particularly bad that you keep doing that after she rejected you. And yes, she did reject you. The way you tell it, there were two possibilities: She liked you when you met, and hoped you might ask her out at some point. She did not particularly like you. You realize that if it was 1, she would be receptive to any advances you make. So, it's not. Don't sweat it. It's much harder to impress a gorgeous…
