Money QuestionAppreciate this. An issue I have is that I’ve paid for 99% of our dates out and she’s never offered. I get it that I obviously need to be the one to bring this up but I also worry about a lack of recognition on her part | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/08/25 11:58 PM
Money QuestionThank you. My therapist and I are going to talk about how to have this conversation the next time we meet. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/08/25 07:49 PM
Money QuestionI agree. It just doesn’t sit right that I need to be the one to say something like “I can’t afford to take you on all these dates” when she knows my financial situation. It adds a very uncomfortable feeling to the whole thing and makes me embarrassed to have to do it | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/08/25 07:12 PM
Money QuestionI definitely have this worry. The prenup came up because her dad got divorced and was fucked over financially so he’s instilled that advice. The weird thing is that I currently pay for 99% of our dates out. That is bleeding me but I think the expectation for her is that the man should pay. I’m just going to need to have a very direct conversation and see if she decides to bail | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/08/25 05:21 PM
Money QuestionI definitely recognize this. And we have talked about it. She’s joked about me just being a stay at home dad at some point but I said I’d never do that. I like working and my job. She has also hinted at me switching to another job to make more. I won’t do that because I would need to work a shit ton more and give up time with my kids. Not to mention my ex who would probably come at me for more child support. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/08/25 04:00 PM
Money QuestionDo you think you would combine finances in this situation then? | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/08/25 03:25 PM
Money QuestionI know. I never signed up to see my kids 50% with the first marriage but part of me wants to do it one more time because I think it will work out better based on the lessons I’ve learned. I can’t control the other half but I can at least spot the problems I was blind to before. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/08/25 03:24 PM
Money QuestionThanks. I figured that for basic expenses but I’m more worried about “extras” because I really don’t have extra cash to even cover my share for things like a Europe vacation or a down payment on a house. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/08/25 03:16 PM
