I would rather live sad but live in reality than have my eyes closed to it, or else I won't be able to empathize with anyone. You've truly given me a lot to think about, how can we ACTUALLY start helping people despite of how closely people tie their identity to their political/economic/religious beliefs. There needs to be stating of facts that attacks no one but blows open the lid on how the way to hell is paved with good intentions.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I hope people can see the reality and stop pushing one gender down to uplift the other. No one is without flaws, therefore no ideal is without flaws (as ironic as it may seem). If we don't question the rules being put in place, we might fall into a dangerous precedent of following things even if they are harmful to people. Critical thinking has never been more in need but least in application than in today's world.

Maybe I haven't done that yet because the country I'm from still is struggling with basic rights for women and is still a very male dominated society, where women are still being treated as 2nd class citizens, so for where I am as of now, I do prefer identifying as a feminist, but on a global scale I think I need to start classifying myself as egalitarian, as isn't that ultimately what everyone should want?

You bring up an important line of thought. If people didn't know anything about the other person and only interacted with them via words on screen, it would be more interesting as they would have no way to attack you based on who you are, but it can be an exchange of just ideas.

You're absolutely right. I may have let my emotions get the better of me in that moment and I may have acted in a way that wasn't the best. I was just more focused on the general atmosphere surrounding the whole situation that I got caught up in maybe trying to prove a point, because people were acting like Rihanna is much more valuable as a person than these players (just like you, I'm not a sports not a Rihanna fan).

Thank you for your perspective. I know what it must feel like, because my best friend is a guy and I've seen how he has to go through casual misandry in his daily life, and as you said, he can't say anything about it or he'll be labeled horrible, untrue things. While there are obviously spaces where women are still being bashed openly (Andrew Tate fans being just one minor example), at least society as a whole frowns upon it, but as you said, man hate is socially acceptable. Dang thanks for the suggestion, I'll check him out. I'm not from the USA so I guess I haven't been rasicalised. But you're right, some of my views and opinions have been categorized as "right wing" and no one wants to listen to reason anymore, they just want to immediately attack as if they're in some immediate danger by some words.

I can see why. I too have a very visceral reaction when people say misogynistic things, casual hatred on either side is literally helping no one and is only widening the gap between people. Sorry you had to go through that and I hope you're in a better place now.

Your question is very valid, I say this because in today's climate people assume that all feminists and liberals hate men, and I just wanted to clarify my position (I understand not everyone cares but sadly a lot of people do). Maybe it's become a defense mechanism to get everything out of the way before people start assuming and attacking you.
