I feel the same way with my stbxw. It sucks. I hate it. But I'm trying to improve myself and make life good for myself right now. I had a lot of panic attacks and anxiety so I started on zoloft which has helped! In the end of the day you're responsible for yourself. I hope for both of us that we can grow as people and live more full lives going forward.

I definitely agree, your partner has to be willing to put in effort to make things work.

Honestly I'm glad I wasn't there with him in my apartment.

I ignored my gut feeling too much for sure. However, when I got married she shared the same values and religion. Now she no longer shares those things with me.

Yea... I'm honestly starting to feel sad for he future more than I'm upset. Sad that she's not going to find what she's looking for the way she's looking for it.

I think it depends on whether both parties genuinely want to fix issues they don't know how to work on. In my case my stbxw didn't want to work on things so it was kind of a waste of time.

Starting fresh with someone new is starting fresh with all the same personal issues you have. It wouldn't hurt OP to get therapy.

I personally would get personal counseling regardless. If you feel like you want to work on things together I would also suggest couples counseling. No matter what relationship you start you're always in it with yourself too.

I will, it will just take time for my heart to move on.

Yea, it's easy to remember all the good times and I'm thankful for that. You're right though. Things weren't good and she didn't treat me well a lot of the time.

I'm actually doing pretty good on the hobby side. I play bagpipes so I'll have more time to practice. I am also applying for dental school so I'm studying for the DAT!

I thought about it - but I also considered that the most power I can have, as mescalito said, is to just let it go and move on.

When she moved out I put her clothes and personal items in boxes with my dad (I'm 24). She was pissed but I told her that I wasn't going to sit alone all day in our apartment and look at her things. My sister is here this weekend and we've been slowly moving what we're splitting up into the dining room so she can take her things but it's on my terms.

Thanks for the tough love brother. I have a lot of anxiety right now so it's hard for me to think clearly - that's why I posted for advice.

I'm planning on keeping a memento box from my marriage.

Part of me wonders if I had read MRP a year ago if my wife would've looked for someone else. I guess I can just man my shit up in the next two months... And rest of my life.

Catching the lies and still getting gas-lit.... I'm so happy for my divorce date in June!

RIP. I'm just getting out of number one - I feel like you get three strikes and you're out. No need to subject other people to your poor decisions after that.

My wife got toxic because of another guy... Sorry to hear it man. With all the time you have together have you considered online counseling?

Thanks for the deep thoughts Noho, what my stbx did by having an affair wasn't right.. But in the future who I choose and what hole I'm trying to fill is definitely something for me to think about with the time that I have during the epidemic.

I've had to deal with the same thing with my stbx OP... It sucks a big one. My wife found another guy and has lied through her teeth about him. It's the worst. No changing I did ever helped. She always tells me she loves me it's just different than before. Do the right thing for yourself and leave her man. At the very least it's a deeply emotional affair.

My stbx definitely did override my better sense of judgment because I longed for the attention she initially gave me. I know this is a weakness that I have and definitely will guard myself against it in the future.

Hey OP, I'm in the exact situation you're in and my stbx had the same issues - except she found someone else. Good luck man, you're not alone.

I feel the same way. She forced my hand and had an affair but didn't want to end things. She even suggested we just live separately and stay married. She would emotionally abuse me too. That way when I filed it was me who was giving up on her and I was the one who wanted divorce. Now she can tell her family and friends that she tried hard but her husband wanted to divorce. It sucks. Edit: I filed yesterday and I'm so happy the 60 day clock is ticking before the courts closed.

My wife's excuse for a dead bedroom was "I'm asexual now"... Which I can tell you is 100% bs knowing what we used to do together.

My wife wasn't all in and dragging it out has been torture for me.

You can't always assume malicious intent when fabricating narratives. It lands you in a lot of emotional turmoil.

What if the kids were being mean to each other and she thought it was prudent to keep them with her instead of leaving two young boys at home.

I really hope I don't have to go through this... My wife was actually the abusive one who was unfaithful.

I hear you man, I know when I read through articles they say "it'll be hard to know you made the right choice and you might wonder if you did".... Just didn't realize to what extent! I feel like a lot of us are going through this...

My stbx went as low as to say that she just can't remember how she felt or any situation in our marriage. She says she can't remember our wedding day or any arguments we ever had. She said that she never liked having sex (big laugh at this one) and is now "asexual". Everything about the past is being rewritten into lies.

Same situation... Lies about being out with friends when she was alone with him... Always getting dressed up nicely just when seeing him... Going to concerts with him multiple days a week... Sleeping at his house and saying nothing happened... Whether there was sex or not she excluded me from her life - that was her choice.

Damn man... I needed to hear this.. I'm going through very similar situation to OP. I tried dating and found a girl I liked but when I told her I was separated she ghosted. I need to keep my eye on the prize... Of making myself who I want to be and not who I thought would make my stbx happy.

This is so much like my situation. But she just doesn't want to make a move to change. I've offered her so many opportunities. I feel like she just doesn't want to be responsible for the break even though she doesn't want to put in the effort. It takes two to make things work. Best wishes brother

I'm in the same situation brother... She was unhappy but didn't want to be the one to end it. Glad to hear your experience
