Please point out in the article where those numbers are and I'd be more than happy to use them.

Negative, the article does not specify any additional numbers for anything else. But they clearly indicate that the decrease between 2007 and 2011 is due to the weak job market. Thus it is logical to take that into account.

Yes, you are right, I chose to include the hours for employed dads because the article alludes to the fact that it would be the more correct number due to a larger number of men being laid off. Not because they don't want to work, but because they are just currently unemployed. The difference is that they wanted to be employed. But yes, one could use that number, but the number of hours for women is not adjusted for those who want to be working vs. those who stay at home. It seems to indicate th…

Interesting article, here are the stats broken down. Women, 1965 Housework : 31 hours Childcare : 10 hours Work : 8 hours Total : 49 hours / week Women, 2011 Housework : 18 hours Childcare : 13.5 hours Work : 21 hours Total : 52.5 hours / week Men, 1965 Housework : 4 hours Childcare : 2.5 hours Work : 42 hours Total : 48.5 hours / week Men, 2011 Housework : 9.8 hours Childcare : 7.3 hours Work : 41.4 hours Total : 58.5 hours / week I find this very interesting. In 1965, the division of labor for…

I wasn't kicked in the junk, but was beaten, and yes, for no reason. Sorry I don't look back on ANY of them and say they were deserved. Also if you read the comments here, at least one Redditor said that they were randomly kicked in the junk by two girls who thought it funny. Growing up, I had heard more than one girl say they thought it funny as well. Two were my friends, I told them that if I ever heard them doing that to anyone, I would punch them square in the face. It made the point that th…

I've spoken to him, but he doesn't know all the details. BUT sometimes kicks can be random (see comments below, happened to a Redditor). Brought it up as a topic for discussion about the inequalities of punishments that women (girls in this case) receive.

Not all school districts are the same, summer doesn't start until the 19th for him.

Agreed, it must have been hard. I know that I would have made a big fuss at the school and up the chain if necessary. It's unacceptable to let this kind of thing go unpunished. Even if he did do something to start it; even if he hit her. BOTH should be suspended. My understanding is that he didn't touch her, thus she should have been suspended under the school's zero tolerance policy.

No idea, I wasn't there. I can only post what I know. And thus why all these people saying to go the police, aren't taking it into context. Unless you're there, unless you know for sure what happened and lead up to the situation, it can end really bad. I brought it up here to show that there are very double standards going on. The policy of the school is that if you're involved in a fight, you're suspended, no questions asked. So why wasn't it applied here?

No I didn't say it that way to my son, no, of course not. Just more fun to let off some steam here.

Because it is clear in the original post that it's not my kid.

True story. In high school I was dating a girl and one night she turned and punched me in the nuts. Before keeling over I back handed her across the face. Later that night her brother, mid-20's biker grabbed me and threw me against the wall and asked if I hit his sister. I said, "Yeah, she punched me in the nuts." He turned to her (who happened to be nearby) and said, "Is that true?" She said, "Yeah." He dropped me and said, sorry. Told his sister off. BTW, she said she did it because she was wo…

So people should stand there and take it. Nope, hit back, they'll think twice about doing it to you again -- gender doesn't matter.

Our school district has a policy that if you are involved in a fight, regardless if you hit back or not, you are suspended. Thus you can stand there and take a beating and be suspended. So I've told my kids, don't take it, you're going to be suspended anyway, make them pay.

Maybe a strongly worded letter about the concern for safety should be sent to the school administrators and the district.

I agree, should just follow the standard assault procedure of the school; whatever it is. The fact is, it wasn't followed because it was girl on guy violence.

Yet if a guy did this to a girl, the result would likely be him up on charges for sexual assault.

This is more realistic than reporting it to the police. Asking for it to be reviewed since we are worried it already happened to a friend. BUT, then again, school's almost out, next year they go off to High School, there is one of about 4 schools the kids are going to, and my son will be going to a different district.

I didn't see it. I only heard about it. Big difference, especially knowing teenage kids and the exaggeration factor.

It is made from Ghost Chili; and it is HOT. It is the hottest hot sauce I've ever had -- it's soooo good on pizza. Even pepper spray isn't really deadly (just makes you wish you were dead).

Honestly, I don't care about Karma at all. The fact that some people do amazes me.

Doing something. You also have to think of the source of the material. Seriously how loony would I look if I went in there, made a big fuss and found out that my son didn't know all the details. Sorry, unless it was first hand knowledge, I saw it happen, I'm not going to do much about it. I could take my son done and have HIM report it, but seriously, think it would be a good thing for him at school? No. Sorry, but the TEACHER or the PRINCIPAL should have reported it.

That's hysterical, it's the same hot sauce my son brought. It's very yummy. It is damn hot, but even my 10 year old handles it. BUT in my son's case, he was ASKED to bring it in by his science teacher!

Hot sauce not hit sauce. Not at my computer.

Yes it should be treated the same way. It's not my son, just his classmate, so I cannot do anything. To me this should be punished very harshly. I mean, the school threatened to have my son arrested a few months back for bringing a weapon to school. Be brought hit sauce.

I looked it up one time and was shocked to find the number is much higher than people think. Assault by women on men is about 50/50. Sexual assault against men by women is somewhere in the 10 to 20%. The problem is, many guys won't report it.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
