Shared bias often doesn't appear to be bias. Cenk and TYT are heavily progressive in their narrative, and always have been. Nothing wrong with that, but let's not pretend they are somehow objective because we agree with most of their opinions.

Indeed. I can understand why OP and many others might see this as conversation worthy, but it really is just another high profile case of domestic violence, only with a female perpetrator this time. It might be an example of /r/PussyPass, since she's still being allowed to play, but that is debatable as plenty of male athletes have gotten the same deal. This is just more ragebait. Sometimes I get really tired of all the "look a woman did something that feminists say only men do" posts on here. I…

By this exact line of "reasoning" one could conclude that black men are the most violent and criminal people as well. Does that seem a little racist to you? It should.
/r/MensRights01/06/15 09:07 PM

They basically said he was the dominant sexual partner. Being a dominant male in a consensual heterosexual relationship is not even close to deviant, much less criminal.

If history teaches us anything, they'll get the privilege of authority to police other inmates after all people like him are rounded up into camps. That's a long ways away now, though, so this guy's probably just thinks women will respect him for it.

As soon as he steps slightly out of line and shows the slightest compassion for men he'll be ostracised. It's happened before and will happen again. You can't ever become accepted by people who hate you for your skin color and sex.

I can't imagine why it even matters. Hate is hate, and she and her pals clearly hate white men. Whether it's called racism or not is irrelevant, the school should not condone open hatred and prejudice towards certain races or genders. People like her are the worst part of humanity.

Yeah, I'm totally the only person ever to make a rash judgement and be wrong. Someone like you has never made a mistake before, I'm sure.

I have a close friend who went back to school a year ago. He says most sociology and even some humanities courses are pretty much all about how oppressive and bad white men are. It was 50/50 or better with SOC when I went a decade ago, and apparently it's only gotten worse. Of course, it depends on the school, but gender studies hasn't really ever been anything but hostile towards men.

Theon was threatened with rape when caught fleeing the first time. He was also tortured for weeks and mutilated. For fucks sake, entire cities of people are skinned alive in this show, but a few instances of forced or coerced intercourse on women is what sets people off? Just goes to show how people really care more about women being sexually violated more than anything else. Yet this is a "rape culture" against women we live in. LMAO

Exactly. There's a line that has to be crossed for it to go past just looking into creeper territory. It's not like this dude was recording her doing good mornings with his phone and without her consent, he just got locked on to the booty in front of him. It happens, and most likely he didn't even realize how long he'd been looking. It's getting really old seeing feminists reducing male sexuality to simple power plays and dehumanization of others. Edit: Deleted my rant, it really doesn't belong here and it was full of generalizations and unfair assumptions about people's motives. I guess I should have just said something along the lines of "female privilege is being able to cry sexism when the same rules applied to men are applied to women." Even that isn't really worth posting.

Hear me out. It seems like the point of this article is to educate the reader about the reasons behind sexual dimorphism in an easily understood way. The very title of the piece seems like it was tailor made to show up high in the results when someone googles something along the lines of "why do men even exist?". Someone even asking that question probably has a very poor understanding of biology and could possibly benefit from a simplified explanation coming from their own confused point of view…

The main reason she won't ever rise to power like Hitler did is because she doesn't appeal to the majority. Plenty of people saw Hitler as some ignorant madman playing on people's emotions before he had any real power. It wasn't until he had an army of cronies bullying people into silence when they spoke out against him roaming the street of Berlin that people saw him as an actual threat. This is a fair comparison IMO. This silly girl won't ever get that far because she spews hatred towards most…

They make less average earnings. Use the right words, otherwise you're making false claims.
/r/MensRights19/05/15 05:58 PM
1

Again, I wasn't getting into the reasons why, just the fact that their average salaries earnings are less. It's an important distinction to make. Women aren't being paid less than men for the same work. Men work more hours and take less time off than women on average. Men are also more likely to negotiate for a higher salary. These are things that are earned, not given.

Litterally calling out thoughtcrime, lol. I remember someone being called out in some other thread for posting a comment in /r/fatpeoplehate in their history, and the user replied by linking and quoting his comment from that sub. If I throw pine cones at a fucking tiger in a cage for an hour until the tiger gets so annoyed it breaks out and kills me, would it be unfair to say I provoked the attack? You're actually talking about provoking violence for the purpose of filming that violence. You're not an innocent victim in this scenario. If you simply had been filming round the clock and caught organic violence that would be different. Edit: Nevermind, everybody stop feeding this troll

Sociology is an interesting subject if you find social studies interesting. I got lucky with my 100 level SOC class and it stuck with actual sociology. Not so lucky with the 200 level where I learned whiteness is racism and evil and men are socialized to rape. That was pretty much where I decided college was too hostile for a guy like me and quit. No regrets as I'm having some success running my own business.

Yeah I'd like a better explanation as well. Unwanted sex is most likely rape. Coerced sex could easily be rape too. This is a complicated subject and OP made it seem like he thinks rape doesn't happen.

There's a tendency of people to think anything that involves fanning the flames of class warfare is Marxist. IIRC the communist party in Germany was one of the biggest hurdles the Nazis had to overcome to get into power.

Nazis: Jews have most of the wealth! Feminists: Men have most of the wealth! The only thing Nazis had that feminism doesn't was a strong leader and a cult of personality built around him. Feminism will never appoint a man to lead them, or anyone for that matter, which is why they will never get as far as the Nazis got. A group doesn't need to commit genocide to be analogous to the Nazis. All this writer showed was how little she understands history and propaganda.

Street harassment is generally frowned upon in western culture. People still do it, but they are considered deviants. Eastern cultures like those in China and Japan are very different. It's like these women are enforcing patriarchal gender norms or something. This is what happens when people think their emotional feelings about things are as good as hard evidence. You've got some patience. I mean, shit. This person is trying to act like holding women accountable for their own decisions is sexist. That's like white knight level 80 pedestalization right there. Yet all men deserve to be discriminated against for the womanizing culture among a very small fraction of fraternity guys, who only make up a tiny fraction of men in general to begin with. Come o…

No dude, you don't understand. They feel that men are taught to rape by completely normal human experiences like banter among friends, or jacking it to a porn vid with the word slut in the title. They feel like cracking jokes involving serous crimes like rape must trivialize those crimes in the minds of anyone who laughs or finds it funny. They feel that craking jokes about murder is a part of murder culture... oh wait, there's obviously no murder culture, despite it being far more common in eve…

As a Joe-sixpack huge into pro sports: these feminist commercials are always good for a few laughs between watching your team get annihilated on the court/field. The big difference is that sports media is still very male oriented and bias is quickly ridiculed or ignored. I would even argue that major sports talk shows and discussion forums are the last true male safe space. I'm gonna try and go full conspiritard for a second here. Feminists love to beat men over the head with violent crime statistics, especially rape. They portray a world where the vast majority of sickening forms of crime are committed by men, and that those committed against women, like rape, are especially horrible. I don't necessarily disagree with you, but the point here is that men take on certain obligations in exchange for their rights, like military conscription for the right to vote, etc. Women face no such tradeoff for their rights, making them more privileges than rights. I'm not the person you're responding to, but I think I know what they were thinking when they said that. Women didn't have fewer rights per se, but social norms combined with the laws of the time virtually made them second class citizens. Businesses could refuse service to women, etc. The civil rights movement didn't only benefit blacks.

Being white only means you're less likely to have an encounter without reason. They'll still put you in a chokehold the minute you fail at their simon says game, or taze you the second you …

What exactly do men have that women don't that can't be attributed to physical differences? Higher aggregate earnings? We don't get pregnant, so the odds of us having to take extended time off work for legitimate medical reasons are much, much lower. Therefore, men's careers are rarely interrupted. Anything that can be done to resovle this would infringe on men's rights and/or unfairly privilege women. More career options? Men are generally stronger than women, and can perform tasks few women ca…

The whole sheriff's statement makes that Jezebel article all the more infuriating. 4th wave feminists really do want the right to put any former sexual partner in jail on a woman's word alone. Rape is a serious crime that deserves serious punishment. The way the definition of rape has been watered down is infuriating.

I agree with you that it is not illegal, at least not yet. I will never consider anything but presumption of innocence to be fair or good though. Nobody should have to prove their innocence when facing serious punishment. Any decent judge would call it a violation of due process, I would hope.

Yeah, obviously. Discrimination based on race is racism, etc. Just because most positions of power are held by men does not mean every man shares in that power. The same logic applies to women. I think my comment was a little redundant and it's confusing people, should I edit?

This struck me as a kind of "no shit" discovery. Hasn't testosterone already been linked to both muscle growth and aggressive behavior? Those stronger, more aggressive boys probably just had more T in them than the others. Either way, I'm glad to see there is still research being done on these things. They aren't entirely wrong about the male gender role and it being part of the cause of many problems for men and women. The part they consistently seem to miss is biological influences. The idea that gender roles are entirely socially constructed is the number one issue I take with the solutions proposed by feminism. Men and women are different on the physical level, there are no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Not all men are the same, but compare men in general to women in general and the differ…

It looks even worse if you compare it to the feminism page, which is far more neutral and never mentions accusations of misandry despite that being a huge part of its history.

Somehow I seriously doubt they actually want women to be raped. I think it's more about exposing what they see as an epidemic and falling victim to confirmation bias in the process. That's like saying MRAs want more men to get falsely accused of rape, which we obviously don't, yet we often make the mistake of accepting the largest number as true because it confirms our preconceived notions. Thats what my dad and I both say when we read about shit like this. They protect the "victims" identity but not the accused. It fucks up the accused's life forever. They need to protect both identities until there is a conviction and if no conviction happens then they need to seal all the records including the accused's arrest records. And before anyone says "what happens if they do it again?" sealed and expunged records are not forgotten about. They can be unsealed and presented in court as a p…

Financial crisis+debt ceiling debates resulting in lower national credit rating + bailouts + nessesary military expansion in the middle east + inflation = pretty valid reasons for 7 billion in additional debt. Factually correct, but wildly misleading in it's conclusion. This is another example of cherry picking statistics to support a presupposed hypothesis. It's proof marriage isn't required to build a family. In fact, one could argue that marriage does more harm than good to families of economic privilege.

We live in a society where women are valued more just for being women, thats patriarchy. Hmm... let's check the definition of that word and see if it fits: Patriarchy is a social system in which: males hold primary power; males predominate in roles of political leadership, moral authority, social privilege and control of property; and, in the domain of the family, fathers or father-figures hold authority over women and children. It implies the institutions of male domination and entails female s…

In the southeastern US a lot of painters and electricians are women. Some trim carpenters too. It's strange but I saw more female laborers in Georgia than anywhere else I've worked. In 8 years working in the Detroit area I've only seen a handful of women working as laborers. I think a lot of it depends on what type of work is available in the area. If it's all labor and factory work, more women will be working those jobs.

Exactly. I got plenty of shit for the first year or so too. It's a physically demanding job and workers need to be able to handle massive amounts of mental stress in order to be effective. You don't even need to look outside the USA to find real rape culture. Rape culture is a very real part of American culture, but not in the way feminism would like us to believe. There's a reason we call it federal "pound me in the ass" prison. Convicted felons incarcerated in our penal system get raped regularly and with little or no means of obtaining justice or support for the trauma. We condone these rapes. We accept them as an institutional side effect. That is rape culture.

I'm pretty sure that claim was born out of pro-MRA bias. I hate to see us use flawed statistical claims like feminists do. From what I've read this claim is based off another claim that only 1 in 10 rapes with a male victim are reported. From what I've read women are raped more often in the general population, but if we include prison rape, men and women are raped at about the same rate (strictly speaking forced penetration rape here). Female prisoners are still more likely to be raped in prison…

According to their website the Michigan Daily is financially independent from the university, if that's what you were insinuating. It appears they are funded through advertising and donations. If they lose readers, their advertising spots lose value. Therefore, more eyes on the paper= more revenue. Readers pay the bills, indirectly. Just like any other media. It isn't about the law. It's about the meaning of the words. Sexual assault means "a (direct) threat of sexual violence, usually involving physical contact or intimidation". There is nothing violent, or arguably inherently sexual, about posting embarrassing pics online. The only things a judge should consider while sentencing are the crime, the verdict, and the sentencing guidelines. The gender of the convicted should be irrelevant. Are men punished too harshly or are women not punished enough? I don't fucking know. All I know is that in the spirit of equality the gender of the convicted should not affect the sentencing. Clearly it does, given the mountain of eviden…

Berta Lovejoy is a hilarious troll who exemplifies Poe' Law. Feminism actually holds views so similar to the idiocy this troll parodies that many of us can't even tell the difference. It's simple: take any occurrence that turns out badly for someone and make it about women and how they have it worse and men are to blame for all problems in society. Then claim to be for equality.

I think it has absolutely nothing to do with men's rights. I also think it is mostly childish and petty, but so is /r/JusticePorn. That being said, there is some small satisfaction from seeing women being denied their privilege, especially when the denial comes in a way that women rarely even experience because of the protective attitude most people have toward even the worst women out there.

In today's climate of sexual assault hysteria where men are presumed sexual predators, can anyone blame him? It's not really unfair when you consider that feminism has it's own "academic" (cringe) theories that put their ideology out there for everyone to see it for what it is. I never said anything about abstinence, Mr. don't strawman, neither did the guy in the article. He's advocating less binge drinking and more personal responsibility. What about statutory rape The idea there is that the young person is incapable of consenting to sex. This is subjective, depending on the situation. Do I think a 10 year old can consent? No. Can a 15 year old consent to sex with a 16 year old? Probably. I don't think the law should be as rigid as it is in many places, but this is unrelated to the original topic. Crimes only count if the victim is female. This has been made pretty clear by all the outrage over the catcalling video. Regular assault is not sexual in nature and therefore isn't a problem because it affects men far more often. I don't think that is a fair comparison. If I'm not mistaken, the rule would apply if the twitter account had been linked to a regular user account, or incited a witchunt against a regular user. This just happens to involve a mod. If the video were remade with the redditor's username and twitter handle omitted I think it should pass. These rules are anything but new.

I'm probably not the person to give the best answer, but I believe it is because the video shows the twitter account for a mod from /r/gaming.
