Exactly. After all the contemplation, we end up recreating structures and values in so many more words that are the exact same things that society has already come up with and been in existence for the last several thousand years.

I think you’re missing the whole point. Going our own way is departing from a legal system that preys on men when a relationship with a woman goes south. This isn’t about sad men with heart break. Women pressure men to marry up, then file 80% of divorces, and most of the time the man gets his children ripped from him, and has to pay child support and alimony. Her fault, his fault, it doesn’t matter. The legal system enforced marital responsibility without marriage. It’s completely fucked. You ar…

Then why not live with mom? Was She abusive? If it’s so important for the child to live a life commensurate with the higher earning parent, then they should live with the higher earning parent. I guarantee you that outside of any education expenses, most people spend within a pretty close range of money on their kids. Grocery bills and clothing expenses don’t shoot through the roof just because a parent makes millions of dollars. Groceries cost between 200-500 a month depending on where you shop…

16k a month!??? What is anyone spending 16k a month on for a child? Maybe a boarding school education, but wouldn’t that be the decision of both parents? Couldn’t she pay that directly to the school, if that’s what they decided to do? Groceries, clothes, shared cost in childcare. That’s all that should be paid. If you can’t handle the other expenses, you shouldn’t be the primary parent, save for divorces that are legitimately escaping abuse, adultery, or addiction. Many men deal with this shit.

There’s a sub with infidelity victims, I’m one of them. You can see a clear divide of men and and women on certain issues. The biggest and starkest issue being paternity fraud where you see these poor men find out their wife of 15 years have cheated on them the entire time, only to find all three of the kids aren’t his. Common responses from women: I’m afraid how he’ll react towards the kids, they need to be kept safe what? Already presuming the man is violent? Towards kids? Women are 3x more li…

But you’re on a sexworkers sub. I agree that courtship and marriage are pragmatic processes and arrangements, and are often transactional in nature. Our modern sensibilities blind us to those basic facts, along with the evolutionary components that go along with it. But what you did was pull comments from a sub filled with literal sex workers who literally only have sex with men for money. I get that dating isn’t much different at the end of the day. But nuance matters my dude. I’m MGTOW with wh…

My dude - thank God you didn't marry her. Imagine paying alimony in addition to your emotional pain. You learned your lesson. At least in a relationship you have the option of leaving with no other consequences. In a marriage, you'd get punished for her bad behavior.

Your premise is faulty. It comes to "if men wanted sex, they'd just pay for it." If anything, the fact that most men dont pay for prostitutes is, I'd argue, proof of the opposite. Women desire desireability. Their ability to attract resources, and the validation that comes with it. They get this from a variety of sources. And again, I'd argue that your premise proves the opposite of your conclusion. It's simple, really. Men don't pay for sex from prostitutes, because it is socially frowned upon.…

If you’re a classical liberal, I hate to tell you that the word liberal has been hijacked and transformed. Calling yourself liberal today to describe yourself as a classical liberal would be like calling yourself gay to describe how happy you are. The term means something else entirely. In any case, I see your point to an extent. Democrat policies are the slow burn. Death by starvation. Republicans get to the point much faster with lesser marketing skills. Democrats have the liberals. They are happy with the state marriage, or rather the state of divorce. The stats we recognize as a failing society they hail as a win. No-fault is a victory for women, they claim. Talk about MGTOW with a leftist gets you nowhere because your degradation is exactly what they want to see. Men pushed to the side is the what they’re after. Republicans have the conservatives. And I have yet to meet a single one that even cares to look at the legal side of marriage. Let a…

politics don’t really affect me unless it has to do with taxation So all politics then? All politics has to do with taxation. Healthcare? Taxes. Infrastructure? Taxes. Defense? Taxes. This. The core of MGTOW isnt rejecting women. Women are women, whatever that means to you. Dont hate them. But the legal relationship is one sided and unbalanced. You have no recourse as a male. If employment relationships were as one sided where my employer could not pay me a salary but still expected me to work, I'd not sign up to be an employee either and go self employed. Women arent the issue, per se. The issue is the legal contract that penalizes you for being a man regardless of all other…

Calling other men neckbeards is all part of the male hind brain. You're invalidating other men to make yourself seem superior. Drop the ego. It's possible for you have your own opinion without lambasting others. Though between us, your "difference" of opinion is meaningless. It's generic at best. We're supposed to be a community A community is a plurality of people with shared ideas and values. A community isn't a community if it doesn't have some identifying factors or differentiators. It would be a single judge. And believe the stories you hear. I'll be airing mine out in the open once it's all done. Someone unilaterally ending your marriage should just mean them walking out. No advantages. But guess what the 50/50 marital split does? We are a disparate group of Men with nothing in common other than the fact that we are all choosing to forsake relationships with women for many reasons or no reason at all. This is a defining trait of why we call this thing (philosophy or whatever you want to call it) MGTOW. This should be the top comment. For the OP to state MGTOW is a mindset with no definition is ironic, unhelpful, and dishonest. MGTOW is MGTOW because it is Male-specific and does forsake legal relationships with women, incl…

Taking ownership and personal responsibility is just that. That is an aspect of MGTOW, not MGTOW exclusively. If it's just about living a life of solitude then there is no reason for this to exist or even be male-specific. MGTOW is male specific and in reaction to gynocentrism for the well-being of and self actualization of men. MGTOW wouldn't exist without this. If you claim that this is just a sub for guys who dont want a relationship, that's dishonest, and there are other threads for that.

This "what you bring to the table" at least is honest, philosophically. The point is that if you were married, youd have no recourse, as a man, for recovering any damages for marital misconduct on her part. But she can take you through the ringer just because she feels like it. Somewhere along courtship history we put on the rose colored glasses on and pretended that marriage isnt a practical business deal. It is. Dating is the gateway to that. The truth is that most women will bring little to t…

This right here. She moved in. That's when it all went down hill. It's not that she moved in per se. It's that she brought her covert narcissism and cluster B personality disorder with her. Right up until she cheated on me. When she did that, I though the court system would (reluctantly) be on my side. Then I learned about no-fault divorce. I cut my losses anyway. But I'd nope the fuck out of any consideration of any law-facing relationship with a woman.

I wonder if this study benchmarks the results before and after no-fault divorce. Friends are an important indicator, I wont dispute that. But an intact family with many children, grandchildren, would be happy I think. People arent having children for many reasons, some among them is the risk of divorce. My point is that the social fabric has changed since when my grandparents were married and surrounded by 25 grandchildren. Back then it was as normal to expect families to stay together and have …

My ex wife did this. She marched into the marriage with claims about how she'd keep working. We got married, and she slowly but surely slumped off all duties and work. And if you withhold any financial resources expecting her to oat 50/50, you get a "financial abuse" claim in civil court. Do not ever expect responsibility sharing or accountability. 16 years old. I stopped reading there. I'm in my mid 30s, and in all reality, "life" doesn't really start for you until 25 or 30 in my opinion. You dont know what you dont know, and at 16, that's a lot. There are so many opportunities that you dont even know exist yet that will grab your interest and help define your purpose. Im in my own custody battle now. Here are a dew observations. The split in opinions on marriage are split by someones politics The split in opinion doesnt really matter. The stress in tradcucks is on "cucks". That's the reason all the logic, cost/benefit and risk/benefit analyses are always falling on deaf years with that crowd. In describing my own divorce and realizing the horror of how exposed men are with the legal portion of marriage, tradcucks were the most infuriating. "Thats why it's important to choose the right girl." This assumes that lifelong alimony, losing your children, and being treated as a surrogate welfare system is a natural consequence, and …

This. I believe that state budgets receive federal funding by the 'use it or lose it' principle. So the more money that flows through via child support and alimony, the more funding the court system gets. It's beyond corrupt. It's a conflict of interest. This is a big part of why things are the way they are. Judges and beauracrats essentially get paid for extorting fathers.

Whats nuts to me is that marriage is set up so one person can unilaterally destroy the other person. And its usually men who end up on the screwed side. Hence MGTOW. But yea in Hulk's example, the woman can cheat, then take the kids, then his wealth. There is no penalty for bad faith. Even if you take the approach that divorce shouldnt be punitive, fine. Cohabitating for s certain period of time can lock you into marriage by common law, depending on the jurisdiction you live in. Even without legal issues, living with a female makes it harder to go your own way.

Why not? As long as it benefits you, I dont see an issue. A girlfriend also isnt a legal entanglement. Wouldnt live with them though. Thats my personal take anyway. Im not looking to date now. Too much to do. I wouldnt mind dating in the future. I wouldn't go further than that. I've seen what happens when a female wants to do whatever she wanys to do and having been left wide open to a legal system that will disproportionately and artificialy punish me for nothing other than her being bored.

It's the conscious and rational decision not to engage in a legal contract (marriage, common law cohabitation, etc...), that is designed by default to punish, enslave, and possibly imprison men. The advent of no fault divorce so a spike in divorce cases, 80% of which are initiated by women. If what she is saying is 100% true, she is one sick puppy. Makes you wonder what her motives were, if in fact what she is saying is true. More likely she changes and is backing a rationalization into how she is feeling now. Either way, I'd believe how she feels now. Her saying she'd literally rather be dead is messed up, btw. Males and females are distinct and different creatures. Androgynizing everything is anti science, from a biological stand point. I agree with parts of what you wrote. Ultimately I think MGTOW is a temporary stopping ground. A layover to what should be another sub "the independent life" (or whatever language you used). MGTOW is an offshoot of a collective male consciousness, realizing the asymmetrical legal system and how it is weaponized against men. But this only lasts so long. I dont understand these posts that feel the need to educate anyone else who posts here that there are good women in this world. We get that. MGTOW is a reaction, though not necessarily reactionary (politically), to the impact of feminism in society. Going your own way, is just a person wanting to live life in solitude. That's the non-anti feminist version. That's been around for a long time. MGTOW isnt a thing that just sprung up as a result of some men for assorted random reasons wanting to liv…

And you're wishing harm on me and my family now? You seriously need to learn to read and practice empathy. The first thing you said to another poster was that they were delusional. just take an oath to not be like the opposition. Women aren't the opposition. The legal and social systems that destroy men's lives and lionizes the worst parts of female nature are what drags things down for all of us. It's these constructs which make the risk of a relationship breakdown artificially unbalanced. On one hand, I agree with everyone's idea of positive reinforcement. Your confusing difficulty of the choice with quality of the choice. Marriage is an objectively bad contract. Maybe I'm a decent boss and I'd never do that to that someone. But it's not about what I would do. It's about what I could do. It's a bad contract regardless of the outcome. Marriage is the same way. There are many of us who wouldnt be MGTOW if social and legal systems were more equitable. Most men here, even those in monk mode, still have a desire to reproduce and pair bond as you say. The problem is that if things go wrong, all guns (literally) are pointed at the male. MGTOW didnt just actualize out of thin air. It's a survival strategy in the current predatory landscape of male/female relationships. The only way to win is to disengage. Otherwise, as you say, I'd rather not be MGTOW. But h…

Many of us have female friends. Certainly all of us have mothers. Not sure what credibility you think being normal and friendly with the opposite sex brings to the table. Women are not held to the same legal standards as men are, although they have sex-based privileges. Not only are civil and criminal courts weaponized against men, but there isnt really a social set of norms that regulates female behavior for the better. Generalizing about all people in a group is immoral. It is the origin of prejudice and it is ultimately dehumanizing. This isn’t generalizing. For one thing, you are noticing a social norm not a character trait. For another, by using the word “generally” you are actually acknowledging that there are exceptions Generalizing and generally, coming from the same root word, have self evident similarities. Generalizing has a definition, that being the making of general or broad statements. So when I s…

Why is the assumption that hypergamy is a bad thing? How many women actually prefer, or view as neutral, a man shorter than them? Do people here deny that women generally don't prefer men who are financially superior to them, on average? Women play the selector in the overwhelmingly vast majority of sexual relationships, and they need to be careful in this regard. Hypergamy is the manifestation of this. I dont think hypergamy is an objectively bad thing, btw, at all. Not in the slightest. Her bi…

I am sorry about your ex-wife. But those kind of things happened, just like how you can get cheated on by your business partner, like what happened to my husband a few years ago. Generalizations are immoral Do you not see the irony in this statement? Generalizations exist because we notice patterns that come from repeated experience. It's how we form our view of the world. With a nuanced view, which isn't all that hard to do, you take the time to get to know individuals, and allow context, knowledge, and life experience to guide your judgments. Generally, men have to make the first approach. Generally, women are gatekeepers to sexual activity. Those are not immoral in co…

Great response, and thank you! But then I realized that actually as adult, you do not need anyone, you want someone. I reject the notion that a relationship, any relationship, is, or can be, purely "want" based. Relationships and love even have their steps on Maslow's hierarchy of needs. We need those things. And we need each other. We also need each other to have babies. That pragmatic need still exists. Women cant produce sperm, and men cant produce eggs or carry a baby to term. Anyone can lea…

Correct. Love isnt an emotion. It is a verb. It's something we do. Assuming people have normal relations with their parents...that's love. You dont get butterflies when you see mom and dad. You feel centered, you feel grounded, you feel home (regardless of location). What most people call love now are the butterflies and tingles. And the rest is perfectly explained in your post.

Your first point in stating your take on this “pre-feminist” world involves a time in our evolution as humans where the sole purpose was to survive and reproduce as a species. This need still hasnt gone away. You just think it has, protected by technology. If running water and electricity were shut off from your home, most people wouldn't last 3 days. The survival imperative is still there. It just isnt as obvious.

You're view of accountability is a one-way street. Why should banks be shielded from the consequences of bad debt? Just make student debt like any other - provide the ability to declare bankruptcy. Sure, the gender studies major should have thought twice. So should the bank.

This. Bailouts arent necessary. A loan is a 2-way risk. Lenders risk you paying it back, you risk being underwater if whatever you took a loan for doesnt pan out. Student loans are the only loans that are 1-way risk. You cant declare bankruptcy and the loans are government backed. I've heard too many psuedo capitalists think that free market paradigm only supports businesses. Quite the contrary. If banks has to apply any type of scrutiny to student loans, they would probably deny loans for super…

Poor bastard has been relegated to being a financial life support his whole life to only be discarded when he is no longer needed. And everyone expects him to "man up." "This is her day STFU" one of the comments said. What about his whole life?

Let me share my experience from the US. I filed for divorce immediately after finding out my wife cheated. The woman I'd known for 7 years and had a child with went from fake loving me, to straight up cold and indifferent. When she found out that adultery doesnt matter in US divorce courts, she was ecstatic. She told me like a kid would tell his parents he got into Harvard on a full scholarship. She thought she would get alimony, but you have to be married over a decade. So once she found that o…

So if you're the son of a single mother, give up and be a miserable fuck up your whole life? I didnt say that. Nor would I. do when it's appropriate to do so, but this thread is someone in crisis. Nah. I appreciate your personal responsibility angle, but dont discount how the actions of others can have an effect on you or others. A few therapy sessions is noy going to undo the foundation of childhood and a child of divorce's sense of belonging in this world. As one for science, the research is clear. There is a ton of literature on this subject and how the risks for poor outcomes are increased for children in single mother households. This is basically 90% of the reason why I'm pissed at …

I'm tired of this low iq, low effort MGTOW = Feminism. No. No it doesn't. MGTOW isn't using violence, or the threat of violence, via the state to enforce the deprivation of resources. MGTOW simply want to be left alone. No one is entitled to a relationship in the first place, certainly not with us. This is the first rebuttal against men who are waking up.

Do not even bother cohabitating. In the US anyway, you can eventually fall into what is called a common law marriage. You wont have the marriage license, but you'll have the penalties all the same.

The devastation he must have felt is incredibly fucked. My wife cheated on me. I'm literally in the dead center of my divorce with a child (who at least is mine). He had what he though was going to be one of the best days of his life ripped away from him. Cheaters, to me, have a mindset parallel rapists and pedophiles. They remove consent and they dont give a fuck about how they're actions affect kids. Do you think this guy, or I, would have been fucking a slut unprotected? Fuck no. Had I known …

I didnt really understand the use of the alpha / beta context in the Male-female relations until I read your post. Always thought about from a male to male perspective. And having seen very dominant, but married men who provide, it didnt really click. The nuclear, or even extended, family relationships have always been a transaction of sorts. Provide something for another. The social pressures in the past, shamed hypergamy and (to an extent) the alpha lifestyle into the fringes of society. Now, …

Holy shit haha. My psychologist friend had met my wife once, and had me describe my wifes behavior through a series of questions and she pegged this exact diagnosis. Cluster B. Cheating, whatever the reason, should be a symptom of a mental illness. As I've learned in our court system, adultery incurs no consequence, and as a result, supports the cheater. The cheater can spend money in certain increments, disappear from the house (or stay), especially if they're a woman. Literally, zero consequen…

Yea I dont get the mythical asian, eastern european culture unicorn obsession. It doesnt exist. In fact, I think they are harsher than western women when given the chance. They can’t, their logic is what they are doing is ok. They are always self centered This right here. The world revolves around them and their butterflies. You could have had a perfect masculine body, with the kindness of ghandi, the charm of Chad, and the sex prowess of Gerard Butler in 300, and she still would have cheated. Because that's what cheaters do. Instead of being an adult and breaking up with you. She cheated. Cheaters want their cake, and they want to eat it too.

Still, marrying is the mistake. Once you do, you are state-obligated to give away all you have to give, while she has no penalty if she fucks up. She refrain from sex, she becomes a bitch, she cheats? No consequences - and depending on time and children, money for her. I'll give you all that. No shame in admitting the mistake. The "no-consequences" trope is unrealistically true. As in, from the outside, it seems unbelievable. It really is hard to grasp (at least for me) until it happens.

Firstly, I didnt compare myself to a monk. I simply raised the metaphor. Secondly, you have to admit the disproportionate risks involved for men in committed relationships with women. I'm also not directly separating myself from women directly. It's a side affect of choosing not to engage in a system to go against me, as a man. I think we need we simply need to reinstate at fault divorces. Things like adultery need to matter in how things shake out. Marriage is a partnership. If you violate the terms, that should mean something. It doesnt in most States. When Tiger Woods got caught banging all these women, I thought it was fair for his wife to get a certain cut. I have but one upvote to give. Atheism is a position of faith. Existence of a self aware universe, God(s), whatever you want to call it, might not be provable. But neither can the nonexistence.
