"I genuinely don't know what to do with the other half of my time." Try, a woman?

I dated a girl while my divorce was going. She asked if I was going through or done with it hinting that if I wasn't finalized, I was technically still married and she doesn't date married men. Sensing the truth would end it, I lied and said it was over. We dated for another month and she looked it up, called me on it, went apeshit and ended things. For that reason, she always looks up divorces and now I do the same. It's public record.

This guy is basically being punished for treating her nicely.

I would retain a lawyer at this point. They will take stock of your entire situation and protect you. She won't even know you're meeting with them, which is great.

I have no idea. Couldn't tell you at all. Barely even think about her unless she's causing problems.

Can someone explain what this is?

Look... You came here for advice and all the other comments are clearly saying don't get her anything. They're telling you mostly no as she likely won't appreciate it, or worse she'll misinterpret it and it'll complicate things. You might think this is good advice...

Do not do this. It's a trap and when things go wrong (like you start dating or she thinks you're getting back together) this will all blow up in your face. You're trying to save her a little tax liability but it's not worth it.

Sometimes, I can't believe that these women are the same girls we were smitten over. Would literally do anything in the world for them.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
