Exactly this, my sweat is in that damn house, and I didn't want anybody else but me or my kids in it. The thought of having another dude waltzing in there was sickening, so I either kept it or we sold it and since she was the one that wanted out she decided to leave. I did have to buy her out though... so bought the fucking house twice

Lawyer mentioned I could keep them and luckily STBXW didn't care to pursue them, might be different in your state though

Transactional relationships that didn't work are why most of us are here. Besides, none of us have any money left. Hahahahaha exactly this, rent don't buy haha I'd rather get a fleshlight at this point tbh

I googled in my state and this came up: Under Michigan law, unless there is a court order, the two parents listed on a birth certificate have equal rights to their child, even if they were never married. So it looks like you can make a claim to be present and get custody, just need to make sure you are listed in the birth certificate apparently. Might make sense to research all this just in case and get everything aligned, you can decide to stay there and keep playing family until you get that.

I got married because of my first kid and I honestly wish I hadn't! DO NOT GET MARRIED! I wanted to provide my kid with stability etc... at the end it didn't make a fucking difference and she bailed out anyway and took half of everything I worked for...

That hits home, the feeling of being used and discarded is hard to accept, but that’s exactly what happened and not much I can do. I was just a lily pad in here freaking life… Hang in there! The way I see it, there are two options I either sulk and live in misery or rise and build the best life I can for myself, I chose the latter… F her

Lucky for you, you no longer have to deal with your ex ever again then :D. But I do understand the desire for the traditional family, in that sense you might then just try to look for someone that has as much to lose as you (or more) in case of a divorce

Indeed, that's how I currently feel about it. No more fairytales or commitment bound to it, just a contract that fucks up whoever earns/saves the most.

Welcome to the walkaway wife club. In my case she threw some references here and there and I took it as just the normal complaining she did e.g. "I feel like we're roommates" and left it at that, in retrospective I should've taken that and talk about or do like a check up every month or something on what she was thinking. She though she had "communicated" the issues plenty of times and was done for by the time she started talking with her "friend" and asked me for divorce. I tried to turn things…

I made the mistake of making my ex-wife my one and only person. I let my old friends fall off the radar through the years and didn't make new ones except for "couple friends." Once we got divorced we both moved out of the state we were living so those friends fell off for the both of us. Same mistake here, and it's way harder to make friends as you get older, I do have my kids though which helps me get through times, I gotta be there for them. Been trying meetup as well, but not much luck

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
