I remember reading about a study conducted on a Japanese class (as in Japanese was being taught to the students). Two of them, gender-seperated, to be more specific. The boys did better in a segregated environment and preferred it, while the girls were the opposite. Ah, okay. Crossed lines there. I was referring to economies of scale. It may be more profitable to produce greater varieties of women's clothes and sell them cheaper, simply because there's more turnover in that market. As you said, you can find all kinds of places to shop that aren't the first point of sale, and still 'express youself'. Of course, for most men, that's not nearly as much of a priority. I admit, I don't know the exact breakdown of supply vs. field roles in any army, but in the context of the original subject, combat roles are what we're talking about. IIRC, Selective Service's Constitutionality was challenged in the early 80s, and the Supreme Court upheld it with the weak justification that women were not permitted in combat roles. I recall reading about an informal experiment being conducted with a foreign language class that was divided into two according to sex. Turned out the boys actually had a better learning environment than the girls because they could channel their competitiveness effectively, whereas the girls' class became a pit of vipers, in a manner of speaking.
