So, my wife decided that enough as enough, we will get seperatedThis was like listening to someone else telling my story… I lived through some similar situations. Anything bad, or stressful, or even boring was always my fault. If something good happens it has nothing to do with me or anything I had done to make it happen. One of the best things I read (or listened to) after I got separated was “Stop Caretaking the Borderline or Narcissist” by Margalis Fjelstad. Sometimes, the best thing you can do is stop trying so hard and say no. Check it out. Whether you … | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/09/23 04:54 PM
Best booksJust started Stop Caretaking and it’s incredibly eye-opening. And it explains why I always end up with the crazies. | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/06/23 10:40 PM
Update and a Deep BreathThere’s no way that’s happening . I was married before and took her back after she left for another year of misery. I might not have learned my lesson about marriage overall, but I learned from that mistake at least. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/04/23 02:01 PM
Update and a Deep BreathThe quit claim is the only thing not done, but the post-nuptial contract states clearly that she has waived all interest in the property in return for a lump sum payment. Basically equity minus marital debts, split in half. She refused to sign the quit claim saying she hadn’t read it yet, but the document once filed as the divorce agreement has stipulations that will require her to complete any additional legal documents to fully excecute the contract. So far, that’s my only stressor. I was hopi… | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/04/23 01:58 PM
Need adviceEven if you get stuck with half that debt, isn’t your happiness worth $3500. Make a payment plan and move on with you life for you and your son. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/04/23 07:26 PM
Any father here got sole legal or physical custody?I got full physical and legal custody. I was actually asking for 50/50 under my attorney’s advice. Something along the lines of “trying to keep children from their mother will make the judge think you’re not acting in the best interest of the children.” I also had a female judge. My first wife was doing hard drugs, had been arrested a couple of times, and didn’t show up for the first 9 scheduled custody hearings. At the ninth, when her lawyer requested another continuance my attorney finally spo… | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/04/23 07:22 PM
Need Advice...I had to look up what BPD was... and that's a bull's eye, but neither of those. Panic Disorder, General Anxiety, PTSD, and ADD. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/04/23 02:17 AM
Need Advice...Thanks for the response. I'm ok. That's about as good as it's going to get right now. I've reached out to family, and I'm making sure my child knows everything's going to be alright. I am overwhelmed, and this is going to take a while to get some sense of control. But I do know it's over. I'm not pining for that phone call. And that's step one. Right now it's all about doing the prep for this process and finding things to keep me busy during those times that used to be taken up by relationshit. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/04/23 12:08 AM
Need Advice...I had the same issue the first time around. She even continued to write checks after I'd moved everything to a new bank and stuck me with that. I've got a pretty good relationship with the head honcho so I'm gonna see what they can do. Otherwise, yeah, time for a new account. Your friend's situation sounds like my first wife. I'm not playing that game anymore. If it's done, it's done. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/04/23 12:01 AM
Need Advice...No worries... I'm kicking myself for it now as well. I swore after the first that I'd never be in this situation again. But then I caught feels, and thought it could never happen twice. Even my dad commented "really, didn't you learn the first time?" Lesson learned. I'm done. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/04/23 11:58 PM
Need Advice...I guess it's time to bite that bullet. I'm just dreading the cost but I know that's the next move. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/04/23 09:34 PM
