If she's bringing it up now, she's been telling her friends and family this for months. Right out of the playbook

I'm happier without my X. My kids thrown into the chaos of it all made me depressed.

Same story with me basically, but she hit me with two attempted restraining orders to get me out of the house (which were both denied by the court).

Yup, there's a reason that a man going through a divorce is like 8 times more likely to kill themselves than a woman, even when corrected for normal gender based suicide statistics.

It's communal property so no, but beware of the fake call to the police accusing you of dv so that you're forced out.

Feeling this. All I want is a tree with my mom's homemade decorations. Luckily I was able to grab them on my way out.

If You're getting hit with divorce papers today, your wife has been plotting it for 6 months or more. I knew mine was comming because a few months before, my daughter spilled the beans that my wife and her mom had been scheming.

The first few months were the hardest for me. Take care of yourself. Get involved with a group, work out, get a hobby. Sound mind, sound body, sound spirit.

I wasn't really into church much before. I'd go maybe once every few months. After the divorce started I showed up at church, and one of the deacons must have sensed I was sad. He invited me over to him and his wife's house for dinner. A year and half later, they've become my surrogate mom and dad, and have literally saved my life.

Return to your own house with a locksmith. When you do, record everything. Beware the fake domestic violence restraining order to force you out of the house.

Called the police and told them she "had a restraining order against me and I was trying to kill her". Both lies. I was sitting on the couch watching youtube at the time. Cop cars drive up on my lawn and storm my house and drag me out. Guns drawn, dogs, the whole nine yards. I didn't know what the fuck was happening. Scariest night of my life.

One day at a time. I started dating my wife when we were 17. Got married at 22. Married 16 years. I never learned how to be single as an adult. A year in and I'm still figuring it out.

Yep, she and her husband Noah Baumbach cowrote, so they'd share the Oscar if they won. Her movie "Lady Bird" was also nominated for 6 Academy Awards a few years ago. Gerwig is well respected and at the top of the profession. Its silly that folks are saying she is not respected as a woman director/writer.

the biggest mistake I think I made was thinking that because we are both Christians that we would be able to weather the storms that all couples have. This is almost made it worse for me. We got married in a very traditional Christian wedding, (Anglican Church, BCP 1928)

Whatever benefit that marriage bestowed on people in society, those benefits are largely gone. Hundreds of years ago, if you were a woman, the only way you could secure your life was by marrying a man with money or skills. You couldn't really work on your own unless you were a teacher or nurse. As a man, you had to get married to have your children be raised and educated. As society has progressed marriage largely doesn't accomplish these goals anymore for the man or the woman.

I refused to move out when my wife told me to leave. She ended up claiming domestic violence and calling the police and trying to swat me from the house.... twice. Both times the police saw that she was full of shit so they let me stay, no arrests or anything. She still filed DVRO paper work that was denied by the judge. She then fired her lawyer for not "Fighting hard enough" for her. She then left the house on her own and I've stayed for a few months. Since I couldn't afford the house anyway, …

To laugh often and much: To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you lived. Keep it up, king. I too am going through hell right now. Hit the gym, therapy, mens group at church. Working on fitness of mind, fitness of body, and fitness of spirit right now.

Yup, every issue that came up was because of me and I needed to work on it. My ex is a beleaguered angel. And she will let you know about it so you can praise her for how great she is.
/r/Divorce_Men02/05/23 09:20 PM

That would have been nice. I could have gotten this over with quicker. I asked and asked my wife for marriage counseling but she always refused. She never was the one who needed to change anything. It was always me.
/r/Divorce_Men02/05/23 05:58 PM

Realized this with my ex. Lying doesn't even register as a lie for them because if it feels right it can't be a lie. Truth is what emotions tell them to feel in the moment.

Coming to the understanding that constantly shoving down my own needs for "Happy wife happy life" as I have done didn't result in my wife going "oh I respect you more for giving in to me". It has the opposite effect.

I'm going through it too. I was served divorce papers on Valentines Day this year. It's gonna forever associate it with that day in my mind. Keep putting one foot in front of the other, king. We are all walking the same path.

Put one foot in front of the other. Go do something. Sitting at home ruminating never helped me. Go to the gym. Go run some errands. Get something done. Hell, go to an AA meeting. Even if you're not an alcoholic, you'll never meet a more honest and real group of people. Whatever you do, don't drown your sorrow in booze.

I'm going through it too. Wife left with the kids, filed false TRO claims, denying me my visitations, denying me my parenting rights, denying me even phone calls with my kids, asked the court to force me from the house, etc. I'm putting one foot in front of the other and informing my lawyer of all new developments in my wife's scam and her parental alienation she's doing to my kids. I'll be lucky if my relationship with them isn't completely destroyed by the time this is all over. But I press on…

She is making up degrading lies to friends and neighbors about me while I am a truly upstanding citizen and was always a great husband. It hurts that she is slandering my name, lying to the kids and family - unfortunately this is apparently common in divorce. She is on a mission to destroy me without any ammunition. Protect yourself man, false allegations are on their way.
/r/Divorce_Men25/04/23 03:50 AM

She should go live with her Sancho and stop whining about having no place to go.
/r/Divorce_Men25/04/23 03:30 AM

I'm not. I'm still in my house. A week ago when I made this post my wife ran off with the kids and I haven't seen or talked to them since. We have court again next month. I asked my lawyer to file emergency request to force my wife to allow me to see and talk to my children.

Wife attempted to file one on me to keep me out of the house. Judge denied it. We went to mediation and my wife accused me of all sorts of heinous acts but provided no evidence because of course not. Mediator out of an "abundance of caution" asked for supervised visits. Thing is, we're still living peacefully in the same house.

She was sweet funny and caring. We started dating when we were 18, married at 21. Though I missed some serious red flags early on I was in love and you tend to overlook those things. Things got stressful and hard after kids but I could still see that sweet funny girl I dated. Then my daughter got sick. Something in my wife died that day. Me endlessly compromising to my wife's every whim because "happy wife happy life", and my own fear and insecurity of her leaving me, well that ship has sailed. No longer am I compromising during this divorce process (I refuse to leave the house like she demanded I do, got hit with fake TRO which was denied but I'm on "supervised visits") and I've never seen her throw a tantrum this big.
