Fucking thank god fuckers like you write about your experience. I’m grateful you reaffirm that’s the right mode of operating for young guys like me. Thank you for sharing your post-worthy comment.

I wanted one at 18 Waited 5 years Got it at 23. Much different reasons than yours...spend a while thinking about it. Like years...most young guys regret it. I’m lucky I don’t.

Yeah put your work in at firm 1 for a year then jump ship for a higher base/better title/more complex project. Then grind it out there for at least 2 years, then you should be able to jump again for a 100K gig + remote. Work onsite as much as you can early on, you’ll learn more and establish good work habits.

Hey! Nice question Rayne. I’ve thought of this a bit myself. I adopted much of the stoic philosophy in my life after reading works such as “Meditations” by Marcus Aurelius and “The Obstacle Is the Way” by Ryan Holiday. I can appreciate the majority of the sentiment in the responses so far. It seems fairly clear that the majority of TRP says casual sex is fine and good. I’ll play devil’s advocate from a stoic perspective though. I believe that casual sex, although obviously fun, enjoyable, and fu…

Yeah buddddy. I feel you on everything you wrote...best advice I can give is to learn as much as you can about a niche—this involves spending time working for others. But work towards running your own business. Especially in today’s culture there is nothing more I like than working for myself. Ain’t no one canceling me.

There is some credit due to the term itself—people use the term RP in other contexts and that drives usage and sometimes discovery of TRP...

Great response. I myself an in a major US city so I feel that women get to hamster/self-justify higher counts. And I think your focus on it all being around “the issues that come with a high n-count” make a ton of sense.

Everyone & every organization makes money by selling a product or service. The economy is a series of transactions. Go out and learn as much as you can, whether this person sells something of value or not, or is a scammer or a pyramid schemer it doesn’t matter—you’ll learn something so go forth. Diversify where you learn from and look at people who are transparent and you will be fine.

Thank you kindly for your thought out response. Saved and I will share it with a few folks around my neck of the woods in Boston. The sentiment you shared is very in line with the other providers I know personally. Although I get a bit more push back/focus on the cardinal issue of having wages set and defined by an entity which (to your point) does not give a flying fuck about physicians and their living. The unprecedented intervention of a government to dictate rates for an entire massive indus…

What a slew of unhelpful comments from these fucking nerds that think they are funny or default to “brah just meet 18-28 year olds”...there could be a number of reasons OP wants or prefers women in their 30s. To answer OP’s question, one can meet single women in their 30s at the following spots: in person speed dating events. Went to one, most girls were 30+, 1/4 were fairly attractive imo wherever they shop for day game approaches, avoid malls as that crowd is younger or go to a mall in a riche…

Holy shit I died when I got to the dorm scene. Walking down the residence to fuck her in the dorm. I hope I am like you when I am 40. My only knock is that I wish you did more day approaches, instead on the over reliance on apps.

A well hammered out and discussed point, for thanks for sharing some evidence non the less. One thought though, how does it play out in real life when she picks and meets up with a male with higher SMV? Does the guy typically continue to engage, hit it and quit it, or just move on after seeing how lower her SMV is in real life?

Rule based living helped my take out the cheap dopamine. No more checking my phone first thing in the morning, no more eating sugar, no more porn (still jerk off tho) Discipline equals freedom. If you haven’t heard of Jocko Willink, check that mother fucker out ASAP.

Thank you. I saw Pinker speak about his recent book, Enlightenment Now the other weekend. And it was a great chat with a lot of empirical based evidence about how mankind has/is/will likely (although shouldn’t be taken for granted) is improving over time in just about every measurable metric across life (morality rates, education, wealth, etc.) Never dove into Kurzweil, but I will add that to my reading list.

My challenge is about TRP & nihilism. And I’ve read a ton of “enjoy the decline” type of posts/responses with plenty of rationale-backed arguments that leave me little room to respond or debate. My request is to not expand on this connection, but if you could play devil’s advocate against the case for nihilism, I’d like to see that in response to this comment. Thank you.

It’s like gravity, fuckers in the first century may not know it, but jump off a cliff and it’s there. The SMP, and ways to improve and increase SMV always existed, whether one believes in it or not is aware of it. TRP is just the first, publicly known collection of SMP/SMV content and ideas crowdsourced from men who care. Glad you improved, and glad you discovered TRP, and even better you are sharing your story. RIP to your dad.

I have a separate notebook for personal, I break out tabs depending on what I think are major pillars of my life that warrant section. But the majority of my time is spent in a main section I call “Daily Journal” I use the table feature to create column for date, daily goals (like a checklist) and a section for writing. Each day is it’s own row. I find it soooooo damn helpful to go back and read how you did the last week, month, etc. it really motivates oneself to push and make the following day…

Thanks for sharing bro… One thing to point out here, is that will power and discipline isn’t like having blue eyes – a feature that you either lack or have… It’s a skill. Like tennis or hockey you can get better at it and train your brain to get better at staying on the path.

Right, but sometimes, to reach the young guys, you have to put more emphasis on getting laid than is warranted, overall. Putting a carrot in front of a the horse will still keep the horse fit & moving forward.

Oh realistically, I don’t mope on the state of women today. I’m in sales so I view it through a BD lenses: life is a numbers game. I mean one might get lucky, like you, but for the rest of the bro’s out there like myself, we just have to cast a huge net and meet a ton of women to try to find the least fucked one. Good traits in your girl. Finding conservative chicks in Boston is extra tough, but I’m not complaining and that is a goal.

His classroom lecture videos are a great place to start. Look up “Jordan Peterson classroom lectures” on YouTube. Add in key words like “routine” “depression” “getting your life together” and watch the first page of results. It should spiral you into a rabbit hole if all goes well.
/r/askTRP07/02/19 05:48 PM
1

He has a lot of good messages for people in your type of positions, unhappy or unfulfilled. A lot of his stuff on organization, routine, and working towards getting to where you can be in a few years (like being the person you want to be 5 years from now) is just damn good and helpful.
/r/askTRP07/02/19 04:26 PM

You could benefit from Jordan Peterson. I know you might not believe this… But don’t be too hard on yourself, everybody moves at their own pace… It’s not a race… Older men are in worse positions theN you! Be grateful for what you do have and where you are at, and the fact that you want to fix these problems that you have identified.

Great color, 3 interesting points so thank you for adding this comment. I would only argue that boycotting the JW brand does hurt that business unit. Although the parent conglomerate will not suffer, best case scenario is that sales of JW dip enough to the point where executives get fired.

Oh, not a bad post at all. I’ve always felt that “she’s not yours, it’s your turn” was a bit too nihilistic in the sense that every turn is temporary/unfulfilling/etc. but a more positive expression (excuse the cheeseness of this) like “I’m not her’s, it’s her turn with me” is better suited, perhaps. What I am sure about, is that “she’s not yours, it’s just your turn” isn’t an expression that settled well with me when I first read TRP. I think you’ve done a good job in your post digging into the…

Lol what a thread. Learn both. You need to know how to strike in real life fights. Learn that from some art, be it boxing or another. BJJ will let you do a lot of damage if it gets to the ground. Don’t do that in large group settings where the fighter’s bitch friend friend can stomp you out. Learn both.

Advice? I’m hiring a few interns for the next semester and the only applicants are girls. Two have even offered to work for free which I am tempted to take them up on. If things don’t change and I am managing two or more female intern, and advice on how to handle this? I obviously won’t shit where I work or go out with them after or get personal on any level...but it is a little uncomfortable. Might be my only option for additional help at this stage of my startup.

Hit it on the spot (no pun intended.) Be amused, sit back. Let her coaching (or lack of) kick in. If the man is aggressive, as in won’t go away or tries to kino or do anything physically., step in and say something along they lines of “that was funny while it lasted, enjoy your night” and grab your woman by the hand and at minimum turn your back to him. If the aggressor continues warm him and tell him to go away. Strike three? You strike him at that point. Don’t make long term decisions based up…

Good post, by in large fuck the commenters who are critical of this. The net summary of this is: don’t be yourself. Yourself is boring and stupid, probably weak and lame to boot. Work on those. Cultivate an abundance mentality with interests and growth. Be useful. Being interesting will be a side benefit of pursing these new endeavors. Fundamental advice, nice post presenting this is a different way and good use of examples. Go Bruins.
