Have you read SGM? I have found that the "I" of "DEVI" is most important as we've gotten older (me 70 her 71). If you want her to be that 20 year old sex goddess who could fuck an entire fraternity house senseless you've got to create a mindscape for her where you are the sex god who is more than that. It is all on you (TWotSM). It is NOT "conversation" it is action - you change yourself and she will follow. Are you on OYS? All the basics apply. None of this advice will do you any good if you ar…

Where were you when you started? There are three parts - the physical, the mental, and as you point out, action. Physical meant getting serious when I was in the gym, a real program, intensity, supplements, diet. I lost weight and felt better about myself. My gym habit became an addiction to the recovery hormone rush. Don't believe anyone who says "cardio after 60". That part was straightforward as I could easily see the results. Mental was the hardest, the key was acting my way into a new way o…

OYS++ 70 in a few months, married, two kids, three grandkids, three great-grandkids Weight: 170 Height: 5 11 Reading: occasionally Seneca's Letters when in the grocery line, but otherwise just "for fun" stuff Sex Is my flair still active? I have found that of DEVI from SGM, Immersion has a larger role. Then V, E, and D - all are still in force, of course. It starts with me and my mindset. Making her act and react like a 20 year old is fun. If you want it, do it. The only limits are the day's ach…

A metaphor to consider: the mental gym. "Writing it down" is getting a gym membership. You've noticed areas you need to be stronger in - what exercises are you doing? You mentioned the stoics. What "lifts" are you doing? Equipment? Variations? Measuring progress? Are you there every day?
/r/MarriedRedPill16/09/22 03:48 PM

"Power of Now" might help, or the stoics etc. Letting it go is difficult - "accept and replace" is more active and sometimes easier. In either case it will take practice to get control of your thoughts.

Since you've decided being with your kids is most important, try this: simply assume the worst. Whenever she's not physically with you, she's at the downtown bus stop blowing hobos for two bits a pop. And when she is physically with you she's replaying the taste of the last hobo she swallowed. Don't waste any more thought-trons on her than that. When the worries come, play that card and return to whatever you are doing with your kids. DON'T think about what you're going to do when they're 18. If…

At the time of this OYS I did. Since then I had physical therapy and switched out all the "press" exercises - floor flys or cable flys for bench press for example. So I am able to give free reign to my gym addiction - I wake up before my alarm goes off and head to the gym. I don't worry about tearing another tendon because I don't do the causative routines.
/r/MarriedRedPill11/02/22 08:21 PM

Lots of good advice here. One thing I would add that I don't see in your OYS is: Getting control of your own mind. There's tons of resources - Stoics, Power of Now, meditation, CBT, etc. Pick one or all. This is another Do the Work where just reading won't cut it. It looks like you are capable of the discipline but instead of lifting once a day you have to practice control continually in-the-moment, reactive at first probably then proactive then semiautomatic then maybe instinctual. Depending on…

OYS 116 Age 66 Reading: Practical Female Psychology Videos from Rollo and Rian "OYS" is a way for me to benchmark myself, reinforce a habit of self-reflection and improvement, and a system of accountability. The majority of what I work on each week is more of the same, or else mundane trivialities. I feel like the incremental changes over the past few years have led to a qualitative change. OYS 114 Age 65 Reading "The Game" My focus this week was to keep my mind on things I enjoy. "Is this fun? Am I enjoying this thought?" Getting physical therapy every other week has kept the pain down. I still have a few visits left. I'm cycling back to restart my 3-month exercise routine, this time replacing all the tricep push exercises with flys, etc. The first month is "German volumetric training" after which I always feel great. Thanks yes, I was trying to express how I was trying to use the "watch" idea when something happens related to an old "block". To let that go as well. I've already seen the ego recursion you're warning of, so I've got more to do there. And there's the "I" again. Which is trying to reach some "better" state rather than just let things go by. By "lean in" I mean just facing what happens (or happened) and watching it go by rather than my ego wrapping it and hanging on to it. My ego wrapping was a w…

OYS 113 Age 65 Working to ingrain the practice in Untethered Soul of letting stuff pass through. It's described in terms of immediate events but implied for past stuff triggered by something current. It is similar to Power of Now but more deliberately as: seek exposure to the pain and let it pass through you. ("It's just 3.6 Roentgen, not great not terrible.") Power of Now taught to let that emotion talk itself out to lose color and energy. With US I seek the root cause and face it to open up to…

Only in a very limited sense, for Russian anyway. The Spanish channel was much more functional, with exercises around ordering food, shopping, etc, things you might actually do and say. While Russian is more complicated the lessons are things like "there is no snake here" and "the poet has a mouse". Spanish also had "stories" - mini real life interactions where you engage in the dialog. Nothing like that for Russian. They simply haven't made the same investment. Hopefully Chinese is more like Sp…

OYS 112 Age 65 Got my HRT blood work results, no changes to my program. I started 15 or so years ago when my "regular" doc wouldn't authorize it. Maybe it is part of normal practice now? Anyway, the specialist has been great to work with as he would do "office visits" over the phone. Useful when I'm traveling 100%, still useful when I'm not. OYS 111 Age 65 Reading "Untethered Soul". If you like Power of Now or the Stoics you might find it helpful. If you are thinking in terms of checkboxes I would not recommend it. Working through the questions raised is helpful to me, so this isn't a negative OYS, but rather an improvement opportunity. I enjoy digging into these kinds of reflection - thinking about how you think, etc. The metaphors are useful also. Had the follow up with the ortho. A hypothesis for you to consider: Switching to systems and letting the outcomes emerge instead of trying to meet goals by definition gets you out of contacts with yourself or others. You don't "achieve a goal" and then look around for applause. Instead you continue to refine and improve your systems.
/r/MarriedRedPill15/09/21 09:53 PM
1

It may be semantics but I think in terms of systems and outcomes. If pressed I'd say my "goal" is a better system for improving all my systems. The "goal" (outcome) is emergent from the system. Lifting is part of fitness / health systems etc. "Looking better" is the outcome but my focus is the underlying system. It emerged from improvements in the system not from a "goal". So "end goal" means even less. What happens when you "reach" your goal? Do you quit? Flounder around looking for your next "…

OYS 110 Age 65 I have my follow-up this next week with the ortho on the PT I've been getting. I expect that next steps - whether to continue treatments or not, etc - will have less to do with what makes medical sense or would best help me and more to do with whatever arcane insurance rules I fall under. I would make the case that the treatments have helped with the pain. I doubt there is an underlying cure. I'm fine with regular treatments to keep it under control. Its similar to most of the res…

I like the "new person" metaphor. I've used it previously and it is effective. This particular instance was a deep immersion in the "old me" sights and sounds. The reason I claim remission is I didn't have to use PON to deal with them. There are lots of things that are going well. Mostly boring though. I really appreciate your longitudinal external assessment.

It's a cancer. Two years of "chemo" and "radiation" (sidebar / internalization /work) and I'd like to think I'm in remission. But I'd be lying to myself to say I'm "cured". I have to be honest - the "mutagen" is still out there. For the most part I'm never anywhere near it, but occasionally I'm exposed. It's shit and I own it.

One thing I learned 55 years ago is if someone "didn't get" what I said the first time the problem was probably in my communication not their listening. Repeating the same thing louder was usually ineffective. YMMV of course

Back when I first started I punted "abundance mindset" as too far beyond my capability. Then a year at home left limited options anyway. TWOTSM was what got me to internalize polarity and the push of polarity when interacting with my wife. It was an attitude game changer, affecting how I acted and what I cared about. A revisit might help expand beyond the limited context I applied it to. That being said I'm always on the look for new knowledge so I will check that out, thanks.

OYS 108 Age 65 I have been pleased with this "dry needles" treatment so far. After the second session the pain relief lasted over a day. It helps that I had really low expectations of this, but I'm impressed so far. About ten years ago I used a food-tracking app to realize how much sugar and carb crap I was eating, and by slowly cutting it out was able to lose 80 pounds. OYS 107 Age 65 Had another couple rounds of the "dry needles" therapy. More needles left in for a longer period of time - about 15 minutes. They come around and "twirl" them every so often. A couple of them were near a nerve, causing an odd "dull" sensation, but not painful. There does seem to be less pain after the treatment. I'm also avoiding putting any strain on it. One thing Blarg pointed out to me - all this time and energy you're spending ruminating and fuming? Festering about what you want to say etc? She's not spent a single neuron. Not a one. Your entire expenditure is a huge own-goal. Since you're still trying to score board, every nano second you spend on this is a win for her. Maybe that thought will shift your perspective.

One of the many things I've learned over the past couple years is to stop fooling myself, ignoring the obvious, pretending etc. Accept and own my mistakes and decisions. Accept the consequences. Thanks, I should have been more clear - "straightening" not just straight. Eliminate anything that puts the elbow under load while moving. Initially the doc wanted a complete stop but I pled down to replacement. I let my fear of what happened to my right arm from not being able to exercise for a few months (complete evaporation of all muscle) cloud my thinking. I'll discuss mechanics with the PT doc as well. OYS 104 Age 65 A suggestion from one of the physical therapy team provided some pain relief. It is a "joint stretching" thing. OYS 103 I began physical therapy. I get a few weeks and then back to the ortho to evaluate. They're trying a few different things. What I like about the regimen is that it includes shoulder stabilization - the PT doc noticed the problem from an injury 35 years ago. That's exactly one of my key takeaways from PON. Letting it be ok is one of the things I work on from it. If I admit I can be happy, then do I set myself up for pain in the future? Another lesson from PON: let the future be in the future. I can be happy in this moment, and let that be enough. The "to her" part is to avoid the "don't consider her an opponent" as well as "don't make your happiness dependent on her". It's just a comfort test. That's all.

My failure is I'm afraid to admit to her that I can be happy. It's part of what PON is helping with. First, to enjoy life as it happens, then let others know. HoA regularly asks "what do you want?" A key part is, I want to relax, stop worrying about what I say etc. I'm reluctant to give up full STFU because I know that's my road to whinyville. By "cold blooded" I mean being in control when I'm angry, being able to throttle it consciously. 35 years ago I acted for what I thought was right (raising the kids) given the erroneous information I had at the time. Looking at J10 I'd like to think I'm at phase 3. Questions about the soundness of my frame remain. What's keeping me from phase 4 are a number of things - anger, etc but also uncertainty that wife is really on my team, despite her actions. So the sense of "score" is probably due to my lack of trust. It's all on me of course, I censor myself to avoid triggering myself. It's one more fear to add to my list - fear of being fooled again. This discussion of "energy" helps me realize that I'll never be "comfortable". At one point reading a lot of post-adultery stuff I thought reconciliation would be the answer. But after 35 years she has no memory and less interest in rehashing the past. Seeing then I was on my own helped bring me here. I'm just getting into the deep OYS analysis of this. My first thought is fear. Fear of confrontation, change, anger. Fear of emotion in general. Fear of the hassle of splitting and moving this houseful of crap. What's dumb is fear of hurting her - she says she's different, a different person entirely, etc. Fear then of losing how much better things have gotten. Fear of the hassle of learning someone new. I'm going back to PON. My ego has been hugely (totally?) centered on my pain, victimhood, righteous anger, etc. I thought I was moving past that but backtracked picking off old scabs. I guess there may be no "past that" - it's something I need to kept after until I resolve that trade-off. Back to square one on that. Enjoy the moment, live in the now

"The bargain" and the trade-off are the heart my OYS focus. It's the challenge from HoA. "Eating away" is exactly the language of my very first OYS. Your point about energy takes the fig leaf off my "bettering myself" rationale for not leaving immediately. Dealing with that fear is a consequent OYS of the trade-off. I'm already systematizing the avoidant behaviors. "One month per year" could be optimistic

I really liked the challenges set out in TWOTSM. Establishing polarity, finding my edge etc. I try to incorporate them into every moment. From TUM's mission exercise I have something tentative but as of yet nothing I'd call "My Mission"

I see that aspect - overcoming those challenges - via the other advice you gave, to get out of the books and into the world (of other real women). WRT that I did chat with women at the grocery. Just chat - with anyone whose eye I caught, so nothing major or life changing worth reporting.
