If ANYONE says something complimentary (in normal circumstances), it's always nice to just say "thank you" or "that's awfully kind of you" if you have nothing nice to say back. Obviously if someone is actually being weird, you push back - but that typically starts with a firm rebuttal of something like "I'm not interested, sorry", not a fucking character assassination.

I love how there's a war of the sexes, but only one side is participating in it. The other just doesn't seem to understand why they're being constantly attacked

I've seen women use the statistics of rape vs. bear deaths per year, but that's another misleading tactic. If every man in the world was replaced with (random types of) bear for a week, there would be unmitigated carnage given the sheer number of men in urban areas (where rape is more likely to happen) than in rural areas (where the chance of a random bear encounter isn't guaranteed).

Because the left is spineless? Seriously, how many left leaning politicians have ever tried to show any kind of support for mens rights? They don't, because they're afraid that something so common sense will lead to them being fired/sidelined/etc. The left has had plenty of chances to support men, but it just wasn't as catchy as "Kamala is brat!". Anyone with half a brain truly knows neither side actually care about mens rights, but only one has come out and said you're not a POS just because yo…

"Mansplaining" is mostly just "someone explaining something to you in an attempt to be helpful, but unaware that you have previous experience in, vecause you didn't tell them beforehand". I've been accused of similar by male friends, but it was only done because I wanted to KNOW that they knew. Can you "mansplain" to another man? 😅

Thanks. And as someone mentioned in another reply - maybe a little card that explains that you appreciate them and thanking them for being cool to work with/whatever you want would be nice. But I think maybe not like huge bouquets or anything, that might be awkward with the office looking like a garden centre, haha. Have you considered maybe something similar to those fake roses? (but maybe a different flower if that's too on the nose). A girl I knew once bought a single rose for each of the guy…

Heck, I still remember a girl who complimented my shirt at work 10 years ago. All she said was "that shirt looks so good on you!" but that immediately became a core memory, haha.

I call bullshit. My son is ALWAYS trying to share his food/snacks with me at the slightest opportunity. Even if it's something I don't like. But he's also smart enough to take the last pizza slice with a cheely smile. Unless I go "Oh...I really wanted that!", then he'll always offer it to me.

OK, so the whole "you can't generalize" as a reason seems silly in the face of saying something like you're more likely to be a victim of rape in sweden than most other countries. Much in the same way that it implies you can't say something like "don't go near crocodiles, they're dangerous". Not ALL generalizations are bad. But then, by the virtue of "you can't trust XYZ" as a 'reason', you can essentially handwave away anything you don't specifically like - which is quite a dangerous path to st…

Yeah - heaven forbid a strong, independant woman show that she's happy to be an equal partner in a relationship. If you don't have the money to pay for your own food, don't bother going on dates. Think of it like a failsafe - and if you don't have that, you're not worth dating anyway.

Using "boy math" when referring to adult men is basically hinting that they're too stupid/still kids and infantilizes them as a way to discredit or make fun of them. It is NOT referring to actual boys/kids, so I see no problem with the comparison.

If you read, try Norah Vincent's book ('Self Made Man', If i remember correctly). If you want to see her reactions and thoughts (or books aren't your thing, like me), try searching for her documentary on YouTube. Her story is, ultimately, really sad...but it would help to give you more of an 'inside view from a womans perspective' on top of all the things shared here.

I got to the end and was genuinely surprised that this account that was created 3 weeks ago and only has 3 posts & 3 comments didn't include "...and now Elizabeth Banks is making a movie about me!! 😫" This story was basically an exaggerated checklist of genuine concerns on this sub made to whip people into a frenzy. Life isn't that perfectly choreographed 😂
/r/MensRights10/10/23 01:07 PM
6

It's use IS fairly applied, but the lack of clarification is what's the issue. I'd say it's more prevalent in custody disputes though, because I've never really seen it used on this sub before. Using abbreviations is fine, but when they have multiple meanings it's going to be easy for people to get confused - I'll be honest, I've been around for quite a while, but I've never heard 'OP' be used in this way before, so it was a little jarring for me too at first.
/r/MensRights02/10/23 09:26 PM
13

Well on Reddit it typically means 'original poster', or on game/comic subs it's 'overpowered'. This isn't a legal sub, so 'OP' makes less sense unless you already know of it.

He lost me at "my girlfriend cheated on me but all my friends sided with them". That's either made up, or he was actually the problem in the relationship. If you fucked up in a genuine way, your mates would tell you. But if you're just an asshole then people will tell you to suck it up and shut up rather than tell you that you're an asshole.

THIS!! So many men in here quick to vilify this dude, but if you were accused of SA you'd expect your partner to believe you if you said it was all lies. So that's a bit unfair to judge him on. But as soon as the proof was out there, he definitely should have bailed though. That was a dumbass move on his part, to stay. But then so was meeting a new woman a year ago and she's already pregnant. This man needs a vasectomy. Pronto. And a new brain.

That's understandable, but being a victim of DV is an actual serious thing. Getting upset that a stranger didn't want you taking pictures of their kid isn't. That's a level above anything reasonable. And the sad fact is, at first I tried explaining how bad the optics of a grown ass man in a bar, with a strangers kid on his lap, taking pictures of her is NOT A GOOD LOOK, but then got downvoted to hell. Diversity of opinions is all well and good, but people upvoting a guy who took picrures of some atrangers kid is a bit too fucking far. I guarantee none of the dads downvoting me would enjoy finding out that their wife had let their kid sit on some strangers while he took pictures. I took my son to his first gig last year (he's nearly 8 now), and he was the ONLY kid there. So many people were smiling and cheering and high fiving him and saying how cool he was. There's no way you don't know how to get your cloud data, especially when you even put a silly face emoji after saying it a few comments up like a fucking "oopsie, teehee!' moment. If I caught my kid in a strangers lap while they were taking pictures, there'd be murder - man or woman. I used to genuinely enjoy this sub, but with how many people approve of this guy secretly keeping backup photos of a kid sitting in his lap after the mother asked him to delete the original is fucking vile. I hope nobody who upvotes that shit has a daughter.

How is the ONLY sane response in yhe two times this dude has posted about this issue?! I've been saying how bad it looks frim the outside and getting downvoted (but funnily enough, no actual responses). A child in a bar, on someones lap, who's taking pictures of them, and now admitted to secretly still having the picture because it's backed up on a cloud... Why are you happy about secretly keeping the picture?! That's not a win. If anything, it makes you look a lot creepier. I don't care how many people on here are reinforcing your belief that someone's kid sitting on your lap in a bar while you take a picture - which you get asked to delete, but secretly keep anyway - is fine, because it's not. I don't mind either way. I just want a partner who can show me they're invested and not using me for free stuff. Never had any problems with dating by quickly establishing some basic boundaries. But then, I've also never taken anyone for a meal on a first date either.
/r/MensRights12/08/23 07:47 PM
11

Correct. Ask this - then stay away from those women. Find one who thinks a connection is more worthwhile than a free meal. Let the guys who always pay get stuck in that loop instead. If they raise the issue, they don't want an equal partner. They want an ATM.

This can be said about ANYTHING. Watch... People who cook meals need to stop immediately. There's just something innately wrong about a person who relishes taking sharp instruments in hand and cutting thing up for their own enjoyment. That steak? That could be someone's mother. Funny thing is, this doesn't have anything to do with female-centric anything. But the fact that so many people are ignoring an obviously stupid series of decisions (even if meant in good faith) and going "yeah, letting kids sit in random bar patrons laps while they take a picture of them" is perfectly normal instead of saying "can't you see why this might look a bit dodgy given these numerous things are frankly, beneathe what I thought this sub was about. There is no way you can be so dense that you can't see the concern... A child. In a bar. Sitting on a strangers lap. Being offered ice cream. Man takes a picture of said child ON HIS LAP. Unless it's family or long term friends, this looks super suspect from an objective angle. If someone told me that some guy in the bar they work had my kid in their lap, taking pictures, I'D be feeling pretty suspicious too. "Sexual manipulation" is SPOT ON! How many times have you heard of women talking about going on a 'sex strike' to get what they want? Or being overtly flirty to get free shit like drinks, with thr sole intention of getting it and bailing. It makes me laugh when women say men should "be more open" about their thoughts and feelings, and are the worst at communicating, yet also expect men to know exactly what they want without saying it, and then getting mad when they don't. male adolescent role models like Batman and James Bond don’t emphasize academic success Batman is meant to be the worlds greatest detective, with trained knowledge in crime, forensics, profiling, science, numerous forms of martial arts and technology. Men have a HIGH association of doing these things-no warning, no fucking around, DEATH. This is why that Rick & Morty scene really hit me hard, especially for a cartoon. Ricks ex breaks up with him, he's dejected, they go back home and he just dismisses them all with "I'll be in the garage". Cut to sad music followed by him drunk, trying to kill himself with a lazer, and then days going by without anyone even noticing or checking on him.

100% agree. It's not men or women specifically...it's just disgusting fuckers who don't care, haha. So wait... Women: We feel unsafe alone at night with men around... Also women: 2am? Perfect time for a jog!! NOBODY should be jogging at night, because there's literally less help and more places for someone to hide. Just get a treadmill, exercise with friends, or do it in the damn daytime. Even if she forces herself on a child, its still not classed as rape...even though it absolutely is in both instances. But yeah, carry on about how this subject only affects women! Even in current generation, most women can legally be be held accountable for raping a man as the term is defined as "being forcefully penetrated with a penis" - despite things like force, threats and coercion being ways to force an unwilling man to have sex with you. Why act like a cunt? I didn't see anything during my check ins so I decided to make a post...why is that such a big issue to you?! I dont search everything, all the time, I'm not on here 24/7...but I said what I did, and what I noticed. Do you want me to say "you're right!!" because I will if it shuts you the fuck up. It always mystifies me how the "women are weaker" argument holds up. If a 5'1 dude punches a 6'4 dude...hes getting knocked out and nobody says fuckall. Yet when a 5'1 woman attacks a 6'4 dude and he defends himself, suddenly its "men are stronger! He's a danger to society!!". Really queen? 😒

Personally, i dont care who you want to fuck - as long as you can take a joke and be honest with me, I'm always happy to make new friends. I was raised by all women too (except I'm straight) but my dear old nan never made me feel like I had to change who I was, and encouraged me to find my own way. And as for my son...if he turns out to be gay then I dont have to worry about unwanted pregnancies 😂 but I'll still bust his balls and make fun of him just like anyone else I'm friends with because he…

Is it really any pettier than most of FDS? It was posted in an OPENLY lighthearted way, so petty would be to come to the comments and make a fuss over a simple, non threatening, casual post. I never said she did anything, but you dont have to do something to feel the effects. Also, how is pointing out that something is having a negative impact on a woman so bad? Should we not acknowledge these things? Or are you one of those "men need to speak up!" women, who then say "you get NO say, this isn't…

If there was a safe, tested, male pill - I'd always take it. I had an ex who was crazy, and she was always going on about having kids (we'd only been dating for 3 months) and i was legit terrified of sex with her in case she sabotaged the condom or it broke. I would not ever want a baby with that women, but if she got pregnant i would literally have had no say in it. I want to be a father on my own terms (again) if I ever decided to, not have that decision made for me by someone else. Edit, caus…

You're welcome, but there's so much more to "being a man" than just "having privilege". Suicide is dramatically higher in men than women, yet its never really talked about. I have a 7yr old son, and the idea that it could happen to him is terrifying - not to mention how girls are getring higher grades overall than boys in education, yet nothing is done to equalize that balance and give them help to succeed. Men are also statistically much more likely to die in thr workplace too. Mainly because t…

Why would you expect a negative reaction to an honest statement? There was no malice or sarcasm, so I'm going into this just to be open and honest. To me it's not a "who has it worse?" game like so many people seem to think) - thise who shut down men by saying "women have it worse!" Yes. Because she's displeased with the current state of affairs which were (ironically) intended to be better for women. It shouldnt be the same gun cause it has the dudes name and a year engraved onto it. If they just threw it into the new movie like "look...Predator 2 callback!" then that just shows how little they care or know about the movies they're making.

The gun is originaly from one of the Predator comics (Google: Raphael Adolini 1715) in which said pirate gave it to a Predator after their final duel was cut short by his own crew shooting him in the back and therefore ruining the "integrity" of their fight. He gave the Predator his engraved gun, & the Predator gave him his sword, as he was bleeding out. They added it into Predator 2 but not many people got the little easter egg. So I guess theyre trying to tie this movie to the actual Predator …

Woman wants baby, man doesn't? Her choice. Woman doesn't want baby, man does? Her choice. Excluding things like rape, just going off general situations and 'accidents' in the bedroom - who here has more reproductive rights in those scenarios above? A woman can claim child support from men who aren't even the biological fathers, and courts will approve it more often than not. Even if that man was lied to from day 1. Have you even seen the amount of media where women talk shit about men for opening up to them? It's not confirmation bias at all, otherwise why are there not more men with positive stories about how their partner supported them when they opened up about their biggest issues? Surely enough men would read the title and go "well that's just not true, I should share my experience as an example". Try not to break your ankle dismounting from that high horse.

He possibly COULD have, but nothing I've seen in this trial as evidence in any way points that he did. So, unless yoyre just assuming they must both be bad because...equality? Then what proof have you seen that he IS/WAS abusive. Without having an evidence, just an assumption, this reads like "not JUST a woman can be guilty. And you can watch the whole thing and see for yourself. If I was constantly being abused (physically and mentally) I'd probably be doing drugs and drinking to escape from it all too. Not only was it kept in, but it treated the fact that she was so shocked at how attractive he was that she physically groped him as some kind of "yass queen!" moment for all womankind. This was my immediate thought when I saw the trailer. I doubt they would have done this scene with Natalie Portman. Sure thing Scarlett, keep harping on about how you were treated "like a piece of meat" in Iron Man when you were playing a femme fatale spy who's job was to lure Stark in. Totally worse than every male character in Marvel movies ending up shirtless or naked. The worst you had to do was show your bra in that car ride with Favreau. Bill Burr explained it best - when a woman knows she's right, she stays on point and argues only about the issue. When she know she's wrong, she dredges up old shit to piss you off until you snap at her, and focuses on that as her "win". Hilarious to hear him explain, but sadly (looking back on past arguments) it's all so true and blatant that I can't believe I never noticed it before 😂

The idea that women have more of a right to use a MENS bathroom than the people it was built specifically for, is absurdly common but it wouldn't work the other way around - no matter how "urgent" the men's needs were. And as for GN toilets, I'd probably use them purely because I CAN, not because I prefer them. Just to prove the point that people advocate for "neutral spaces" only so far until a man wants to use it.

I've lost count of the amount of times women have barged into men's toilets in pubs, clubs, etc - citing "you haven't got anything I haven't seen before!" and nobody said anything. They always complain that their line is "too long", but don't seem to understand that it's a privacy issue. I've seen men accidentally go into women's toilets, genuinely accidental, and security were right in there to throw them out of the building.

Yet when a "big strong man" retaliates against a punch thrown by a smaller man, it's not considered the same as hitting a woman, even if the guy and girl who started the fight were the same size/weight. It's almost as if there's some kind of...privilege. But that's a thing only men have, isn't it? Strange...

Have you ever noticed how women who say "real men cry" are also the same ones posting pics of themselves with cups, saying they love "drinking male tears?" I'm the father of a very bright, very loving 6yr old son, and it genuinely scares me what kind of world he'll grow up in. His chance of suicide is higher, less likely to get custody of/see any kids he may ever have, maybe have his life ruined by false accusations (even if they're proven 100% false). He'll be expected to be financially secure …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
