This sub has a lot of doom & gloom on it (not negatively, just objectively, because it's 2022) and I saw the guys post about his dad, so I thought I'd share mine because it's the reverse.

My 6yr old son is the most amazing little dude. He's funny, smart and full of life - and even though we separated amicably, me and his mother are 100% on the same page (especially when it comes to mens rights).

I see him EVERY weekend, even though his mum worries that I work all week then have him all weekend and never get a break for myself - but I've told her many times, spending my free time with him is better than spending it alone.

We play Xbox together, he "teaches me" about things like black holes, unit fractions, his 'job' as a HyperCat Expressway engineer, and other crazy things. We cuddle up and watch movies, he likes the same music as me, his mum basically says he's like a clone of me.

I never fail to remind him how much I love him, and to always be honest with me, and if I shout at him when I'm frustrated about something and he happens to pop up, i always make sure to sit him down and tell him I'm sorry so he knows there's nothing wrong with saying sorry.

There's so much scary shit in the world right now, and i know he's going to have to face that eventually, so I (and his mum) always try to reinforce how important to us he is and all that stuff. My dad was absent most of my life, except for when he showed his face - then he was just abusive, so I always try to be for my son what I never had growing up.

His doing amazingly in school (he's scary smart - taught himself fractions and stuff just by watching YouTube videos), everyone says how polite he is, and we're both working as a team to make sure that he grows up to be a good man...even though we're no longer together.

He also begged me to take him to a live gig for a band he loves, so I checked and he's old enough to go with adults, so me, my best friend and him are going in November to see...Carpenter Brüt 😂 Taking him to his first gig is just another life milestone I plan to be there for with him, and he couldn't be more excited.

Sorry this post was long, but I just wanted to share some positive "dad vibes" with people on here. So yeah, the world isn't all bad - if we all pitch in, we can at least support & affirm each other, even if society treats us as disposable. Keep your heads up, and don't forget to make time for your dads, sons, brothers, husbands, & friends. Have a great weekend folks!
