I find the posts really interesting. I like reading about other people's problems and seeing others help them. Picking up women seems really hard, so it is nice that there is a community that helps each other out.

I'm not sure if I am reading your comment correctly. Please let me know. Do you mean you want to know whether I have HSV-1 or -2?

Hey asshole, I wasn't ranting. You said "correct me if I'm wrong" and you were wrong. I was nice about it. No, I don't get cold sores. Thanks for implying that I'm a whore, though. Cold sores don't make anyone a whore as the majority of the population has herpes on their mouths (both HSV-1 AND HSV-2). Where did you say that "the milder symptoms would be preffered [sic] to more serious ones"? I don't see that anywhere in your comment. And I would like to point out how ignorant it was to say "it w…

It is bacterial, so it is technically covered in the first sentence. I didn't know there were so many problems with bacterial STDs gaining immunity to meds. That is awful.

Have you been tested? I don't know if they can test when you aren't showing symptoms, but herpes is very very contagious. Pretty much everyone who gets herpes gets it when their partner isn't showing symptoms (obviously, you wouldn't have sex if they were). The majority of people with herpes have NO symptoms. You are probably passing it around without knowing. :(

From reading your link, it seems like you will be ok. She will get a C-section if she has an outbreak, but if she had herpes before the pregnancy then the chance of passing it is very low.

There is no kind that doesn't spread easily... Herpes is RIDICULOUSLY contagious (so says my doctors).

It is easier to catch HSV-1 on your mouth and it is easier to catch HSV-2 on your genitals, but it can very well be the opposite. HSV-1 is common on the genitals and, luckily, has milder symptoms than HSV-2. HSV-2 on your mouth doesn't make you any dirtier! Shame on you! I read a story of a girl (on a herpes support group online) who got genital herpes from her long-time boyfriend giving her oral while he had a cold sore. It devastated her.

HSV-1 on the genitals is common, but HSV-2 on the genitals is more common. You can also get HSV-2 on your mouth. I've read that somewhere around 1/3 of genital herpes is HSV-1, but I have absolutely no idea where.

I think this place is an awesome idea. It seems so scary to ask a girl out with the chance of rejection. I like seeing everyone help each other and guys taking the advice and conquering their fears. As far as what brought me here, I was browsing subreddits and thought this one looked interesting.

Somehow it makes me feel better to know that it wasn't always a bad thing, you know? Definitely get on some meds. The OP and my boyfriend both got it through a condom with no outbreak present. I'm so glad you met someone who understands!

Haha I don't know. My boyfriend is Canadian. I'm American. He goes on Reddit sometimes. If he reads my name, he will know it is me.

Looks like your worries have been solved, but here is a good idea (from a woman) if you think you are going to come in a couple minutes and you want to get her off, too. Get her really hot first. Give her oral until she is twitching and moaning then stick it in. Hopefully, she will come fast, too! Or you can make her come with your mouth then have sex. You are going to be great :)

I am pretty sure you can't give it to your kids. Go to positivesingles.com (if you are in North America) if you are interested in dating other people with herpes.

Yes, if the person giving the BJ has a cold sore, you can get herpes. The virus is also occasionally active without producing a cold sore ("viral shedding") and you can get herpes from that, too. Do not EVER receive a blow job if someone has a cold sore or feels like they are getting one.

I'm sure the few people that get severe break outs have a hard time, but I've read that 2/3 of people with genital herpes do not have any symptoms and many people have mild symptoms. Still, don't go contracting herpes! The feeling of being "dirty" and unwanted can be hard to bear.

Yes. The virus stays in a person for life. It lies dormant in your nerves. I have no idea how often cold sores can occur.

Like I said, I don't want children, so hopefully it never matters. A C-section actually sounds better because vaginal birth freaks me out. There is no tearing, no/less labor, and a small scar.

Yes. My gynecologist literally laughed when I told her that my boyfriend only wanted to be with women who had herpes. I'm not saying go out and bang people without telling them, but people are pretty accepting (hence the 1 in 4 :)). But I do understand where you are coming from.

Thank you! I don't really want children, but it is my understanding that I would have to have a C-section. It is very serious if the baby contracts herpes in their eyes. I definitely wouldn't risk it. My aunt had to have a cornea transplant from a herpes infection in her eye.

Really? I could have sworn blood tests worked. Well then, you are fucked when it comes to herpes.

Well, many things are bacterial and easily cured. Genital warts are curable and you sound like a man, so cervical cancer isn't an issue. Hopefully, you are vaccinated against Hep B. Other types of hepatitis are transferred through blood (I believe), so that seems unlikely to contract. Herpes sounds bad, but most people don't have outbreaks and there are meds if you do. All you really have to worry about is HIV, but I am probably forgetting something. Don't worry so much ;)

Condoms aren't 100% effective in preventing any STD. If you want to stay clean, you should ask your partners to get tested. A lot of people have STDs and don't know, so asking doesn't always help.

Thank you, sir/ma'am! That made me chuckle.

Yes, but so many people don't realize how prevalent herpes on the mouth is. You probably already have it, dude. The majority of the population has it. I've seen statistics as high as 90% in a microbiology textbook. Your body is just able to suppress the outbreaks. Do not give oral if ever you have a cold sore and do not receive it from someone with a cold sore.

Well, that's just rude. I hope you don't any get either! Edit: forgot a word

Well, I have genital herpes and honestly I don't care who knows. It doesn't bother me. I met my current boyfriend right after I was diagnosed, so I don't have much to say about how to deal with it (he also has herpes). I can tell you about the guy who gave it to me, I guess. We didn't have sex until a couple of dates went by and right before we had sex he looked really sad and told me that he had herpes. I felt bad, so I fucked him. We dated for a while. He told me none of his girlfriends had ev…

Perhaps. I have been told that I look younger than I am my entire life and often in a mocking tone, so that shit don't fly.
