“Hot” is subjective but there are general ideas of hot. Look at the most popular male celebrities women y’all about and notice the variation.

US. It was a gross exaggeration. There are a lot of them shorter than me, but it never really stopped me from dating them. I’m confident in myself though, and don’t have that Disney princess complex.

I’m 5’9 or 10’ and my husband is shorter than me. Most guys are. It doesn’t bother me and it’s a huge turn off when it bothers them.

I think our definition of “hot” comes into it as well. The stereotypical definition doesn’t have to be accepted. Fake tits and a face full of makeup is “hot” to a lot of guys but that’s so damn ridiculous. It’s garish and plastic, in my opinion, so I wouldn’t want those guys thinking I was hot anyway. Be with the person who’s definition of “hot” is you.

And that as you spend more time with your “average” person and their amazing personality entrances you, your definition of “hot” changes. My husband is hot, Dad bod and all.

Yes, I would leave the relationship if he did not think I was attractive. I put a lot of work into myself both physically and mentally. I am proud of me and consider myself very attractive. If he doesn’t value me like I value me, then he’s not the one for me. Just as I’d hope he wouldn’t stay if I didn’t value him. This is really an eye opening thread for me. I see many of you are ok with your partner not being attractive in some way. I do have a “type” I guess, and it’s not physically perfect m…

This sub makes me thankful for my husband, but I completely understand where you’re coming from. SO MANY marriages should have never happened. Shit, I was married before and in a ten year let-down of a relationship. It helped me cherish what I have.

I think, and this is completely opinion, that the hesitation comes from women that take up the “mother” role too much. It’s ok to not to want to be, or attempt to be, her mother. She has a mother and I wouldn’t want some woman trying to mother my child. I dated another single Dad who definitely expected me to be a Mom to his kid. He got dumped real quick.

While I agree with you and understand where it comes from there are exceptions to every rule. I dated and married a single Dad. I do not compete for his attention and his ex has been out of the picture, aside from shared custody, for 12 years. I established early that I am not a babysitter and will not be a stand in Mommy. I do not participate in funding his child’s life and, unfortunately for her, will always be putting my own child first. He’s not extremely active in the child’s life and we on…

I’m mostly just described as a “difficult woman.” I have an extremely direct method of communication and it freaks most people out but men definitely handle it better. Most women ask me to be more gentle in my delivery because of “how I may be perceived.” I don’t feel shame for bearing what are typically considered masculine qualities. I feel pride that I am strong and capable.

There may be a correlation between the type of men that want or “need” a sex doll and the type of women they crave. Probably not though. Most men are pretty disappointing.

You make a great observation that it’s not necessarily what is best but what others think is best that will be flocked to. And, as we can see with the likes of Jackson Pollock or most pop music, what is popular is definitely not always good.

It could be anything: his money, they are all desperate enough women that they’re ok with it, or even a publicity stunt. Just because they’re in nice packaging doesn’t say anything about them personally, or him. Be careful assuming that he either earned their love and attention or they’re all content.

It was more than likely gradually introduced and normalized. Without outside influences, in the isolated state she’s in, it has to be seen as normal. He’s her husband, shouldn’t she trust him? We make ourselves believe things are ok and tolerate shit to try and save what we shouldn’t. Poor woman. At least she questions whether or not she’s at fault. Part of her knows it’s bullshit, that part just has no confidence to back it.

I think the issue here lies in the fact that you are asking people to somewhat transcend their biological desires. I agree with you and have found unattractive people more attractive after getting to know them. I'm not a very surface type of person, though, and an interesting life has led me to try and see people for who they actually are rather than the face they were born with, through no choice of their own. I think what we have to remember is there will always be someone "better" than us or …

I agree with this. He’s still a human and may have been really looking forward to this. As he has his own life he also makes his own decisions. I personally wouldn’t want a guy that flakes on plans just because I ask him to. It has to be mutually convenient and no one can do something always. As long as he puts you ahead most of the time it’s fine. I would personally see a guy that waits around and drops anything for me as a bitch.

No one is going to do it for them. If you want something bad enough, you step out of your comfort zones. If you aren't willing to, you will never achieve it. I was a shy introverted person and no one would believe that now. You have to do it yourself. There are two types of people: those that have what they want and those that have excuses.

This exactly! I love having sex and am great at it. I married the man that gives a shit about me and my orgasm. Goes both ways, buckaroo. And porn sex is not how sex with a woman should work. I’ve even seen “lesbian” porn where they’re more worried about penetration than clitoral stimulation. Women are always gonna get frustrated and sometimes dump a man that doesn’t please them. If more women were honest with this I think things might change.

I kept text open with my ex of ten years because we had serious financial issues tied together. The minute they were handled? Done for good. Ten years and done. No need for communication. Some bridges you should burn with napalm. What possible reason could it be? Other than whatever he dumped you for doesn’t work out and he has to hit up plan b. Don’t play second fiddle. And don’t be friends with people you dated. You can if you want, but it didn’t fail because y’all are fabulously compatible.

Most people are not interested in self improvement. They half-ass life and just want to put in minimal effort. When they get told they need to do more they just get mad because they don’t want to, and won’t. They want the world to drop a level.

My husband was so handsome on our first date and was very well groomed. I still remember how he looked at me. With that being said, I’m a pretty mature and professional woman and dress that way. Even when I’m in yoga pants and a tshirt I don’t look like a college kid, so I tended to only attract, and definitely only bothered dating, guys who understood and appreciated that. I remember a conversation at work a few years ago. Several women admitted to letting their husbands do it even though they hate it. Just to make him happy. I’ll be damned if that’s ever me. I just don’t enjoy it at all and I’m not gonna think that he just has to have that because porn taught him it was awesome. He can change his thinking on that one. I always say, “You’re not doing anything to me you’re not willing to have done to yourself.”

I am a professional and educated woman with two neck tattoos, so it can be done tastefully and not be the mug-shot-esque style you’re thinking of. I also think beards are the fucking shit. I don’t guys wearing skinny jeans or cartoons on T-shirts. Cargo shorts and pants are fucking ridiculous, unless you’re wearing them for work. There are tons of guys without either tattoos or beards though. Maybe you’re shopping in the wrong aisle.

I think women should look for a man with similar drive. If you’re not a highly motivated, passionate, driven person (and face it, most people aren’t) then expecting that in your man is wrong. You’re dooming that person to a life with your mediocrity. If you are cool with having a high school diploma and a shit job, rock out with your bad self. Definitely try and do the best you can and get a man with better than you, but if they keep dumping you there may be a reason. Look at the statistics of h…

You only want women to care? And do nothing about it? Just the act of caring is enough? You can’t make someone care. And when I care about something I take action, which I will not do in this case. And, as I said, do you care that fat women have a much harder time and deal with a lot of weird crap? If you do care, what do you do about it? If you do care and don’t do anything, what does it matter that you care? Who gives two shits if you care about something but take no action to correct it? Two …

Ahh. It was just this one problem, which I agree that I don’t care about. Do you care that fat chicks have a harder time? You gonna marry an ugly woman so she can feel good? If a guy needs to do some self improvement to get a date, that’s his problem. He needs to take responsibility for it, not be a victim. And before you ask, yes I think women play the victim as well. Lack of self-responsibility is rampant.

Successful at 20? How far could they have made it? Basically, I believe the age of your pool to be the issue. Or where you are looking. But this is all with the assumption you date people close to your own age and status. This is also assuming you bring more than looks to the table. 20 year old college boys are really only good for one thing to a successful, attractive woman. I know one 21 year old that opened and ran a successful restaurant with his mother but he is definitely not the norm.

You don’t have specific things? For instance, I need someone with an interest in cars. Everyone has the general ones. Some people need a religious person, or with certain political affiliations. I guess for some people any warm body will do.

If it’s anything like women’s brands, try a ton of different ones until you find the one that works for you. There are too many body types for most people to just wear anything.

For me, a man dresses well when his clothes are not too big, his actual size. A lot of men tend to wear larger than necessary clothing and it looks like you borrowed some clothes. And get the wrinkles out. Also, I personally dislike cargo pants. If you’re not using those pockets for work then you look like you’re 15. I don’t believe most men know, or want to take the time to learn, what clothes and hairstyles look good on them. If you don’t put a lot of effort into looking good, chances are you …

Humans lie to humans. I believe we begin developing deception tactics around 3 years old? Anyway, it’s just kind of a moot point. The people that are most successful in life (dating, career, etc) are the people that best learn to navigate through words to body language and actual meaning. Whether they realize it or not. It’s on every human being to figure out the world around it and master it or fail. Those not good at reading people have low success rates. Might not breed. Survival of the fitte…

Fake it until you make it does work. Google power poses and practice them. Stop pointing out flaws when you look in the mirror and point out how beautiful you are and that you’re the best version of you. Regardless of how you feel about yourself or how he feels, this negativity will spread to your relationship if you let it. Confidence is the sexiest thing anyone can wear and it’s not easy to earn. This mindfulness if a great first step! Next, notice when you do it. Notice each time. Just take notice and see how often you do it and see how it is detrimental to your own happiness. You will only notice it after the fact at first and eventually will be able to see it happening and then know when you are actively doing it. After you get good at noticing it and can point out every time you do it, stop. Stop and think about it before you do it. Do the opposite of your natural reaction. Do the th…

There are some different ones though. I struggled like you are and was so amazingly unappreciated. I've found an amazing man now that respects me and appreciates everything and treats me how I want to be treated, because I demand no less and make it very well-known. He is happy to do it because he knows exactly how precious I am. You learned it how you did and now you know exactly what you want and how you expect to be treated. Settle for nothing less.

He seems financially responsible, to say the least. I’d observe his habits a bit more. If he’s willing to spend on himself and can’t take you on a nice date to impress you, I’d dump him. But that’s just me. Maybe he’s trying to see if it bothers you though. Someone very financially responsible is usually only going to want to be with someone else that is. All of this is an assumption, however.
