Why the hell is it the business of the school what she does on her time? It doesn't sound like she was trying to get special treatment or a "pass" as much as a bunch of shitty people whose noses were too far into other people's business.

"had sex with" is a wild misspelling of "raped."

I'm glad that she's actually getting a real sentence, but it bugs me that the news channel still sugar coats the situation on her behalf.

"Romps" is a really weird way to misspell RAPE.

Are there more female pedophiles, or are there more reports of female pedophiles than before?

Male disposability is one of those social phenomena that used to infuriate me until I finally just got tired and accepted that most people don’t care.

"Why would you do this?" Lady, why would you do this? She cheated and lied to him about having a daughter for three years. That's some incredibly cold shit right there. I'm surprised he gave her until the end of the month to get out.

Her username is @girlyuserskybaby123. I don't want to brigade her, but I think that this profile should be reported to TikTok. Surely they don't allow videos of sexual assault on their platform, right?

So many people embrace or just collaborate with Cancel Culture as if it won't turn on them. But it's a ravenous beast that holds no loyalties. And it will come for everyone eventually. In any case, I find a bit of schadenfreude in the poetic justice of someone playing Woke and then getting bodied for being a hypocrite.
/r/PussyPassDenied16/07/20 08:49 PM
7

For my part, I resent the hypocrisy of the whole thing. That someone who was merciless in their persecution of someone else finds themselves on the other end of the situation for once. Or, as Michael Scott put it, "my, how the turntables."
/r/PussyPassDenied11/07/20 05:15 AM
58

This is what too many people don’t get. They collaborate, thinking that the woke crowd will grant them amnesty. But cancel culture is a voracious beast that can never be satisfied, and all collaboration does is make them look like a hypocrite when it’s their turn to be devoured.

Watching my father fight for custody was a big motivator. My father is an amazing dad. And there are a lot of reasons that I’m very close to him as an adult and not at all to my mother. But watching people minimize and trivialize his efforts is absolutely infuriating.

I know what you mean. My dad never got this, that I know of. But people often used to refer to him “babysitting” when he had me for the weekend. It made him furious.

There's a lot to unpack here: OP says that Natalie is a "nice girl" and her "best friend" while demonstrating that Natalie is clearly a piece of shit. This doesn't reflect well on OP. Despite Natalie being a cheater, liar, and user, OP claims to have "more loyalty to Natalie than Eric." For Christ's sake, why? Eric is "graduating college soon" and "has a car and an apartment", but is dating a girl who just graduated high school. They found a Groupon for an Italian vacation? Where the fuck is tha…

The fact that a classic “masculine” man, Terry Crews, speaks up about this issue is crucial. We need good men like him to show the rest of us that it’s okay to talk about our experiences. Like when General Norman Schwarzkopf advocated for prostate exams.

I read about this woman, it was such an insane story; one of those things where the lie was so big, that people believed it. They just couldn't imagine that someone would lie that "bigly."

That dude in the video has no neck. Like, I've heard people say that before, but that dude literally has no neck.

I think what's most telling about the story is that it's all about how she feels about having sex with an unconscious person. No empathy, no discussion of his condition or feelings. Amy's focused 100% on Amy.

Men are sometimes held to a different and unfair standard. Last month, a coworker was teasing me about using Rogaine. She kept going on about 'fragile male ego' and such. I pointed out that she had previously bragged that her husband bought her lip injections, and everyone acted like I was the asshole.

Years ago, during the real heyday of feminism, writer Asa Baber wrote about how men and women shouldn't be enemies in working for gender equality and inclusivity. We should be supporting and working with each other. Some people didn't get the memo, apparently. But it's really great to see people standing up for each other.

I'm not saying that it's okay for him to slap her and physically eject her from the store. But I love how her attitude changed the moment she realized that he was willing to hit her. She just got an education on why it's wise to treat your fellow humans with a bit of basic decency.

I have to agree with the other posters. According to the article, this was a definite abuse of power by the police and, while I'm unhappy that the police won't be held accountable, I think it's admirable that she pushed it as far as she did.

To be perfectly honest, I can think of more masculine movies. The Deer Hunter is like Apocalypse Now. It's brilliant, but it's dark and depressing as hell.

Here's a fun little game to play: Try to find an article about this story that uses the words "assault" or "rape" in the headline. Because, according to the first page of Google results, "student sex case" is the harshest language I can find.

To be abundantly clear, here are some quotes from the article: The children's mother, who cannot be named for legal reasons It is understood the mother was never charged with abduction or other criminal offences. She's not in trouble for hurting her children or their father, she's in trouble for defying a court order. It's an important distinction.

This is a classic example of "play stupid games, win stupid prizes." Like a lot of people in this thread, I'm most pissed about the people screaming "stop," who didn't seem nearly so concerned when the two women started beating on the burger guy. I don't know that I'd say that this is "Pussy Pass Denied", but I respect Ronda Rousey immensely for rejecting the media narrative, and for speaking her mind. I think it would be much easier and lucrative for her to go along with the leading questions and buy into the narrative of butthurt and offense. But she has the character to speak from her perspective and to reject the premise of the question when that premise is inaccurate or dumb.

No, my initial argument was that, in this situation, the woman didn't get special treatment. Rather, she got exactly what she deserved. The man (Hogan) got screwed. If anything, it's the man being treated differently than the woman. But, that argument is largely moot as I explained in my initial comment's edit.

While I agree that it's unfair that Andrews gets a large settlement while Hogan gets nothing, I don't think it's a "pussy pass." "Pussy Pass" typically refers to women getting special treatment because of their gender. In this case, I feel that Andrews was treated fairly and received just compensation, while Hogan got screwed. EDIT: Having just read the description below, that she sued the hotel who, I have to agree, had no reason to suspect that the perpetrator was stalking Andrews, this might …

I do have a basis for calling you a liar: You clearly don't understand a basic tenet of law. I said that a man would be arrested for domestic abuse. You assumed that this meant that I was saying he had committed domestic abuse. This is a leap that someone who has studied law would never make, because it requires you to be completely unaware of the basic legal tenet of the presumption of innocence. Your initial statement indicates that arrest=guilt. Every law school in the western world, and most…

I'm taking stuff out of context? No, you (deliberately or otherwise) misinterpreted my statement. It has nothing to do with law, it has to do with your reading comprehension. Since you're so inquisitive, i'm not overly familiar with the way state and federal law interact in the US, which takes preference, and whether all states legislate on all issues or have the option to leave issues to federal law. So, having confessed to having no legal expertise, and lacking basic reading comprehension, wha…

No, it isn't a question of law. You didn't challenge my legal analysis. You challenged the meaning behind my statement, and you judged incorrectly. A law degree has no bearing on that. EDIT: Besides, even if it were a question of law, you said yourself: Looking at the USA - a legal system i'm admittedly not overly familiar with so, your opinion, by your own admission wouldn't be worth much in this case.

I don't think this was expressing a sexist sentiment as much as she was illustrating how ridiculous the suggestion was. I understand that women are bombarded by really shitty things on social media, especially a hookup app. But if a woman told me that she knew the chief of police, and that I shouldn't "try anything creepy," I'd be really threatened, and would definitely bail. I suspect that the ignorance of this phenomenon comes from two different places. The first is male disposability, or the fact that people tend to be less concerned about the death of men than of women. The second is the expectation that men will be self reliant and never rely on others. So a man who does commit suicide is seen not as a victim, but as a weakling who almost deserved it. /r/MensRights04/11/14 08:57 AM

Probably not when she was 7. But you're focusing on only that one incident and ignoring others. Dunham writes of casually masturbating while in bed next to her younger sister, of bribing her with “three pieces of candy if I could kiss her on the lips for five seconds . . . anything a sexual predator might do to woo a small suburban girl I was trying.” There's no question that these were sex acts, and Dunham freely admits that she viewed them as such.
/r/MensRights03/11/14 03:20 PM

She said that she was seven when she started. I never saw her give an age when she stopped. And even at seven, a kid who is bribing a younger sibling to perform sexual acts should be in therapy, not casually dismissed. And what's more, when that seven year old grows up, it's not a simple matter to be casually mentioned and then dismissed.

It does? I don't think there's anything normal about bribing your child sibling into performing sex acts, and then revealing that to the public as an adult. It's like Dunham sincerely expected that people wouldn't be offended by that, and I can't imagine how she would think that. Also, as you mentioned, it seems incredibly inconsiderate to reveal that about her sister. I doubt that her sister appreciates that.

IANAL, but schools in the United States operate on the premise "in loco parentis," or "in place of parents." They basically have the authority of a parent in dictating the behavior of students. You just described someone who would fall in some spectrum of the "authoritarian" end of the spectrum.
/r/MensRights28/08/14 01:37 PM

You say that, and I'm sure that you truly believe that you're "live and let live." But I'll bet you're far more authoritarian.than you realize. When you drill down to the core, the Libertarians are the "live and let live" people.
/r/MensRights28/08/14 11:16 AM

I realize that they skew to the bottom, but that's a function of the self reporting nature and the way the questions are asked. I'm sure that liberals would describe themselves as anti-authoritarian. But when you actually ask them an open question like, "What elements of society should be unregulated?" they give you a very short list.

Well, you suspect wrongly, then.

I was about to get pissed because the child had been moved into foster care rather than the father's custody. Then I got to: Her success in turning her daughter against her father had sadly been so successful that an immediate move into his care had proved impossible, leaving an interim care order and a short-term foster placement as the only viable options. And I found that I was pissed for a totally different reason.

Most criminal attorneys accept payment plans and offer free consultations. Bring him to the meeting, or have him contact the school. Sometimes the act of lawyering up alone will get them to back off. Was that one of two posts about how modern society trains men to hate women? I'm pretty sure those were David Wong pieces. I certainly was never told that I was entitled to women. Although there is definitely a prevalent attitude that a man's masculinity or social worth is determined by his success with women. Ah, that's a bit of confirmation bias and media sensationalism. Republicans say nothing or reasonable things about rape all the time. But that doesn't make headlines. And Democrats say stupid things all the time about rape and any number of other subjects. But it doesn't get the press. Christ, the Kennedys and Clinton were actually accused of rape, but that all went away very quietly, and the press didn't exactly rush to inform the public. I can't disagree with much of what you said. I'm aware that a lot of social situations are just as awkward for women as men, and I realize that no one is in a rush to the bottom. I certainly agree that women in general are no more at fault for societies failings than men. I think that people are predisposed to particular jobs by biology, but that gender has much less to do with it than is often assumed. For instance, I'm never going to be an NBA player. I'm shorter than 5'10", overweight, and I have a shit jump shot. In earlier iterations of feminism, the Camille Paglia era, I would absolutely have been on board. For the same reason that shows that consistently depict black people as uneducated criminals offend the black guy who's a homeowner working a nine-to-five as an accountant or something. For the same reason that shows that depict women as ditzy housewives offend women. If it were one or two commercials or shows, then it would be no big deal. The fact that this is how we are portrayed means that someone believes that's how we really are, and they're enforcing that image to others, which makes my l…

I think that there are some good examples out there. Just last night I was watching Sherlock and I thought it was a great story of two men, a grizzled war vet and his high-functioning autistic roommate solving mysteries together. The male characters are strong, I never feel like the female characters are being patronized or dumbed down especially. Sure, there's Molly's attempt to woo Sherlock, but there's also Watson's consistently failed love life. Another one I like is How I Met Your Mother. S…

Never in our nation’s history has it been so socially accepted, and even encouraged, for men to be involved, emotionally available and committed fathers. It's not. But where women typically have strong support groups, men often feel the need to "soldier on," and to avoid expressing feelings and emotions. It's a well-documented issue, and it's one that we really need to start addressing as part of Men's Issues.

I'm glad to see that he's pursuing this in real court, rather than "bullshit college reactionary court." I'm also really glad to see this issue in a periodical that I have a lot of respect for. So often these stories show up in blogs or magazines that have an obvious bias, so it's hard to know if you're getting the full story. I'm so sorry this happened to you, and I'm sorry that no one understands. Do you have any friends, male or female, who you can talk to? Have you looked into therapy or support groups? Well, sure. There's still a lot of preconceptions to overcome. For instance, when I tell women that I really want to have a family, a lot of them don't believe me. They think I'm just trying to impress them or something. We've got a long way to go to real gender equality. But at least the conversation is starting.

I think that this is to be expected. Society is changing and we're having to shift our thinking to match it, and that makes us uncomfortable. As traditional gender roles fade and we move into a more gender-less era we're going to be confronted with a lot of things that disturb our comfort. This is what we saw (and continue to see sometimes) when women entered the business world. Men whose wives worked were made to feel like they weren't masculine. Now women who don't conform to the traditional r…

This is true. It's been a long time since "innocent until proven guilty" was upheld by the media. I remember when the Zimmerman shooting happened, and I kept getting drawn into arguments about it and I kept having to say, "I wasn't there. I have no idea." And almost invariably someone would accuse me of secretly supporting the other side. Since when did refusing to rush to judgement become a bad thing?

I can't fathom the thinking of a person who would commit sexual assault, or who would lie about being the victim of sexual assault for the sake of attention. Since when did it become cool to be a victim? I don't think the people who falsely claim sexual assault realize the degree to which they hurt not just the person they accuse, but real victims who then can't be taken at their word. It's really disgusting.

You don't know what feminism is. According to Merriam-Webster feminism is: : the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities : organized activity in support of women's rights and interests The people who are advocating for rights for women beyond those equal to men are not, by the very definition of the word, feminists. Given that, your initial thesis is wrong. To answer your question, the Free Dictionary defines masculism as: masculinism 1. masculinity. 2. an attempt to…

I have to disagree. I think that's how the tumblristas promote it, certainly. But I think that's a twisting of what was initially a noble cause. It's similar to the principle of states rights, which is a valid and perfectly reasonable philosophy, but was co-opted by segregationists and twisted to fit their purposes. Feminism isn't anti-male any more than masculanism and men's rights is anti-female, but the loudest and most visible advocates are the ones with ulterior and misplaced motives.
/r/MensRights07/11/13 03:34 PM

I believe that feminism has some valid points. There are still areas where women are certainly underrepresented and discriminated against, (although less so all the time in the western world) but I resent anyone co-opting a legitimate social movement to garner sympathy for their own selfish butthurt.
/r/MensRights04/11/13 06:19 PM
12

Sure. That's true of any unfair situation. Just think of the women who make false rape allegations. They don't care that they're hurting men (or they're actively trying to hurt men) and they don't care that they're hurting actual rape victims; it's an inherently selfish thing to do, and there are a lot of selfish people in the world.

Keep in mind that they said the same things early about feminism, and other civil rights movements. Lots of ugly insults were thrown by those who were comfortable with the status quo, even women, just as insults are made now with Men's Rights. I'm not disagreeing that the media doesn't report the whole story, or that the media favors some causes over others. In Bangladesh, I didn't see that. I saw young men who were lazy and their fathers typically beat them. To a degree. But the fact that the system is designed to ensure that the female family members are always the least important isn't pragmatic in the slightest. If we're talking pragmatism, why not allow women to participate at an equal level in society, thereby doubling the chances of your families' success? I mean, if you have four children (2 boys, 2 girls) and only allow two of them to be educated, fed, and socialized, then you've effectively cut your family's chances of producing successful …

Far more than the women. A good example off the top of my head is in Pakistan and Bangladesh where women typically don't work, especially in rural areas. If the family falls on hard times financially, the women stop eating so that the men can continue to work. Women also often aren't allowed in public without male accompaniment, which severely limits their ability to gain or exert social or economic power.
/r/MensRights21/10/13 02:10 PM

It is true in many places. A great number of third world countries are also very religious, and women don't have a great deal of power, economically or socially. Access to health care is part of all of that.

I mean the deeper issue. We've all been sexually frustrated, we've all been lonely. We've all felt powerless. But we certainly all haven't gone out and committed sexual assault. I'm referring specifically to the difference between people who do and the rest of us.

Obviously the question of what it is that compels a person to commit rape is an important one and one that we haven't entirely answered yet as a society. That said, operating on the assumption that men are predisposed to commit rape is misandry of the worst kind, and all too common in the feminist rhetoric.
