It is. Doesn’t mean that the law doesn’t protect men who suffer domestic violence. In fact, domestic violence against men is a crime. Whether the penalty being higher for violence against women is justified is another matter which I’ve already expressed my opinion on. It’s not being roundabout, it’s correcting the information that other dude said.

You seem to misunderstand my point entirely. I don’t have anything to do with that. Fuck you too :)

I was writing a more seriouscomment but realized I really don’t care about you, yours or whatever your opinion of me is.Lmao. The way I see it, you’re just an old geezer projecting your frustations of some agenda I really, really don’t partake in (yet you seem to assume I do for whatever reason) on what I said. You’re funny, and the whole grandiose text about how you’re this great guy that GETS UP and does the right thing and thus have the right to assume whatever about me is even funnier lmao. …

Honestly congrats for volunteering. My consciousness is clean and I know I’m not a bad person. Your attitude seems awful tho for someone who volunteers, what with the whole insulting strangers online. I guess one message is not the entire depth of one’s life huh? You also assume a lot of shit about me tho you don’t know me. Like I’m some kind of keyboard warrior or something. Kinda insulting lmao. Like, just spare yourself the stress of meddling with people like me (lmao) and take a nap or smth.…

I’ve answered someone above and it’d be a decent explanation of my perspective on it being different, but, to keep it simple, violence against women was and is normalized and ingrained in Brazil’s culture, and much larger-scale than violence against men, thus a more extreme method was needed to combat it. Changing the law to increase the penalty of violence against men wouldn’t help with the problem at all. That is, of course, not to banalize abused men’s suffering. It was never my intention to …

It is a different situation, though. And it’s not to discredit male victims and the abuse they’ve suffered, which is a serious matter on its own. I think you misunderstood my opinions regarding this as I do think male victims are not regarded properly here. I just believe the right way to approach it is different. To keep it clear, I’m speaking about Brazil, my native country. So, while not exclusive to, my reasoning is thought of in the context of my country. You have to understand that violenc…

Well, the fact that violence is violence is protected by law, seeing what I just said. Domestic violence to women, specifically, gives a higher penalty. It’s a question, I believe, with a lot more nuance than you’re giving it, considering the historical and social trend of violence against women in Brazil. And if you do consider all that, I think it fair for domestic violence against women to have a higher penalty. It’s an entirely different situation.

Objectively untrue. Both women and men can be victims, criminally speaking (as in, there is a law regarding domestic violence that treats both men and women as victims) of domestic violence. To be fair, however, there is a specific article/law/whatever regarding exclusively women (as victims, the criminal can be both women and men) in this kind of situation and the penalty for it is higher than the ‘normal’ domestic violence crime that also has men as victims, which is another matter entirely. I…
