1	Why do I want to improve myself? Why do we compete for resources? At some point it just becomes gluttony because you can't consume that many resources on your own. You are correct, I am definitely taking for granted my privlidge. If I was in a bad situation I wouldn't even have the time to think deeply about my first principles. 1	Why do I want to improve myself? I am a wood worker so this advise does resonate with me. I do think that people are only limited by the their tools and knowledge. It does make sense to improve the quantity and quality of your tools so that you have the ability to work on more and more projects. It's definitely more attractive to people the larger my toolset is. I am asking why am i working on all these projects in the first place? 1	Why do I want to improve myself? Pretty privilege is something that definitely exists. Functionally it does make sense to conform to society's standards even if you don't care about impressing anyone. So I guess it's not a perfect comparison. I mean, why do people want to be atop a hierarchy? Being on top grants you power and resources which is helpful for raising children and spreading your genes.
