This might just be myself and my friends, but typically someone I would rate "7" vice a "9" has a greater physical attraction to me. Seems that the closer one gets to society's 9 or 10, the more plain one appears.

Maybe the train ride killed the mood, but to suggest that one should get their dick in a girl before sobriety is a borderline dangerous and just plain desperate perspective. My recommendation would be that OP hold back anything too passionate until arrival, not insinuating an expectation for sex, using that time to build tension instead. You might have appeared desperate for the act while you were pushing the limits of what one can do in public for a solid half hour.

I actually did this at a house party the other week and it worked out very well! Crazy alliterations are preferred, but anything I imagined was helpful. Opening right out with said game was popular, even. Lots of opportunity for people to suggest their own title, just for you to shoot it down and come back with a tease.
