Don’t forget crazy! Latina women are always crazy. 🙄

Sameeee. I have the stereotype Latina bootay. I’m so sick of men being aghast when I say I can’t dance. Or tell me “but you’re Puerto Rican! You’re supposed to know!” I’m sorry. I seem to have missed the salsa classes in kindergarten. Salsa is not in the school curriculum.

Yes, you are. You do not need to resort to sex labor to make money. In the long run, trust me, it will do you more harm than good. I really wish you the best and hope you get out of it soon.

It’s a blessing that they pick themselves
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy20/08/21 06:01 PM

That’s what I meant though. They’ll blame women even when the situation has nothing to do with women.

I was just reading an article on her cause I had no idea who she was and reading this quote, I think she does believe it’s her only way to make money. It’s…kind of sad. “I was almost thinking of myself as a business more than I was thinking of myself as a person,” she says. “It sounds really cold, but that was just what I had to focus on to get through all of it. It was just like, This is work now. I had to make it okay, and I guess that’s how I made it okay.”

I didn’t know anything about this but just read the Wikipedia page for it and “The woman was later identified as Sydney Leathers. She was an Indiana native who first came into contact with him when she expressed her disapproval of his extramarital behaviors.” She expressed her disapproval? Well…she’s come far since then. Jeez her entire story is…a bad downward spiral.

That’s what really bothered me. It’s that essentially he/she is saying that a lot of young women, during a world crisis, had to sell their bodies to be “saved”.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy19/08/21 10:15 PM
35

I’m weirded out by these comments but it’s hard to say why. Painting porn as if it’s some sort of saving grace for women… the fact that he/she said specifically “for young women”. The BS propaganda that apps and pages like OF provide a “safer and positive space” Just the idea that women, during a pandemic, need to be “saved” by (mostly) men paying for porn 🤢🤢🤢 How can people be so blind to how messed up that is?

Well…judging by the front page it went viral for the wrong reasons. On the bright side, I have heard a lot of women irl say pickme and I’ve seen more and more women say some FDS sounding stuff. I think it’s getting there…

I’m probably late to the game but when I decided I wanted to go to medical school I read a lot about how my chances of dating and getting married would be reduced because men don’t like dating female doctors. I read a few forum posts on a website called student doctor network and apparently being a doctor helps men a TON in the dating world but affects women negatively. But men will keep denying they hate successful women…mhmmm.

Thank you! I don’t want to bother too much but since you know a lot and I have no one irl who isn’t a pickme, what should I expect for that day? I’m not one for grand gestures of love (dated a narcissist who would do that) but I also know anniversaries are important right? I have no idea what to expect.

And yet that was one of the most suggested advices I got here for VDAY. As a rule, I never gift anything related to sex but some recommended it here. Thank you for confirming that it’s wrong. They say shit like this and then have the audacity to say that FDS is toxic and abusive against men. I mean SERIOUSLY? This wasn’t some obscure post from some obscure subreddit. This was on the front page. Top comment.

Ugh this resonates. My boyfriend is great to me, he cooks for me, he takes me out on dates, he’s bought me gifts. (Although for many of these I’ve had to explicitly or implicitly say it’s a requirement). But one of the things that bother me so much is that he always says I’m spoiled in a joking way. Like, if we’re ordering food and I want a particular one he’ll say I’m spoiled jokingly before buying it for me. If we have a fight he says “I do everything for you”. I shouldn’t mind since he does t…

Thank you! What a thorough response. I really appreciate it. ”If you mention needing something, his response should be “I got it for you baby.” Even better if he notices you need some thing and handles it for you before you even mention it I’m really glad to hear that this isn’t too much to ask for. Honestly to me that’s love...I don’t care much for romantic gestures but helping me out or knowing my needs or making sure I’m taken care of in some way...that’s definitely how I feel loved.

No, I completely get that the dynamic in a relationship between a sugar daddy and a boyfriend is vastly different. I meant more the expectations of what one should pay compared to the other. For example, a sugar daddy might give you gifts, a purse, shoes, help you with some bills, pay for your beauty treatments, etc. What is a boyfriend (who provides and is willing to invest) expected to pay? What type of things? You wouldn’t expect him to pay your bills I’d assume, or even be gifting expensive …

Are you me?! Girl, same. I also had a lot of one night stands and random encounters, convinced that this was healthy and that it was empowering to be a sexually free woman. And I also ended up with a LV narcissist. But thank God we're past that :) If you ever want to talk, you have a friend here that went through the same.

Yes!! It's a real struggle now for me to be turned on because the association I have with it is so based on submissive/humiliation/nonconsent and other horrible abusive shit. Society now encourages people to explore sexual fantasies to the point where everything is supposedly healthy. Like being called a whore? That's normal. Like being hit? Normal. Like being whipped until you have bruises? Normal. None of it is normal and I'm so sick of people pretending it is. It's a real struggle to go back …

I reply to my boyfriend whenever I’m able to. That might take hours. Alternatively, I was in an abusive relationship where my partner would get upset with me, ignore me for days or accuse me of cheating, if I didn’t reply within five minutes. It took a lot to get to where i am today. Just know that your time is valuable. If you’re busy you’re busy. Sometimes my work gets so crazy I don’t reply to my boyfriend in 8+ hours. He doesn’t mind. A HVM will understand so don’t stress about it.

I think I read this..is this the one where she loses her memory at the gym or something? And she used to be super in love with her husband and currently their relationship is failing and she can’t understand why? And the whole book is her figuring out what happened?

Wait WHAT?! What’s happening? FDS has literally saved my life. It took me from an abusive relationship with a narcissist to truly completely loving myself to the point where my depression and anxiety are controlled. What’s going to happen to this sub? Oh god I have anxiety again.

I feel the same way. Even though he’s always encouraging me to do the things I want to do I still somehow feel that he’s taking away my focus on me. And as selfish as it may seem, I care more about myself than him.

Thank you! I really appreciate your feedback. FDS and therapy have changed my life drastically. I can say with 100% certainty he is not abusive. But you're very right. I repeated the pattern many times and if it weren't in great part because of FDS, I might still be repeating it.

Does he have his own interests? YES but they are similar to mine. Are you his only close friend? He has one more who is also my friend but they rarely meet. Does he only ever talk about the same topics, and doesn't seem out new ideas? Yes. I think you are right that it is in part that I feel smothered. Thank you so much for your feedback. I kept thinking of a video I'd seen by a popular FDS youtuber that said love can be cultivated if you find someone high value but ehh...I really don't know why it doesn't work with him because at the beginning it did but now I just..I think I just want to be alone.

I don't know why but reddit didn't give me notifications for any messages here D: I didn't realize there were replies!! Thank you! I need to really hear and understand that. Haha thanks! I really appreciate detailed comments like this. I haven’t had the pleasure of dating HVM. I mean, my current boyfriend I think he’s hv but I’m not always sure. Your first point about the random gifts is what he doesn’t do that I see others mention as well and since I genuinely love gifts and flowers it makes me sad :( I kept thinking I was asking for too much to want gifts but comments like yours are incredibly helpful.

That’s so nice. As silly as it sounds, the fact that my bf doesn’t open doors for me bothers me. I’m so old fashioned about these things, I love them!! It makes me feel so feminine.

By that logic, wouldn't that mean that finding someone who has "the drive to get to where he wants to go" or someone who doesn't have to be there already, I'm basically becoming the chick who's going to be there when he's leveling up and then be abandoned? I believe they all do that. Who knows? That's the catch-22. Be with a made man who's much older or be with a younger man who's building but will possibly abandon me down the road.

Can I hijack this wonderful thread to ask a question? I know FDS isn't some hivemind but I find it conflicting that it seems to both support hypergamy and not having a large age gap within the relationship. Has anyone ever achieved this? Is it possible to date up in class/wealth without having to date men who are much older? I'm 28 and no one I know younger than 35 or even 40 is at a level that I would consider dating up in wealth/class.

Hey thanks for the feedback! I did not put him in an awkward situation. I left my card. Mistakes happen. I would've had no problem covering for him if the same happened to him. This was not intentional on my part. How is that manipulating someone? If you believe that your partner helping you out in a minor time of need is a form of manipulation, you don't understand FDS. Not sure why you got downvoted! Thank you! I am definitely against pre-25s dating older men as well. Went down that path and it just ends up being a control situation. I share a lot of your views but it seems that's not common here in FDS. Thanks for the feedback :)

Thank you, I respect your point of view. You might be right but money is important to me. It's not negotiable that my partner has to be equally or better off than me. I've lived in poverty and I dug myself out of it through hard work and I refuse to go back to it and live in a mediocre relationship living paycheck to paycheck. Thank you for your feedback!

I compare men to my situation. How much do I have saved up? Dude needs to have more. Do I have 80 bucks in my account without checking the balance? Dude needs more. Yessss this is what I mean! I guess I worded it wrong. What really bothered me isn't so much that he asked for it back it's that he couldn't pay it in the first place. I have sooooo much more than $80 in my account. I could've covered him easy without batting an eyelash. Your entire comment <3, I wish I had friends like you irl.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy18/05/20 11:23 PM

Thank you, your second paragraph is exactly how I feel. I didn't mention this in the post because it was getting long but what worries me is that he couldn't cover me for a measly $80? At a restaurant once, I had to cover for us for $312 and I did it without hesitation. I didn't even ask for the money back (I assumed he would return it and he did) but my point is...my finances are in order. I always have money in my account. I think this is what I failed to put across in my post. His finances confuse me and I think that's what is truly scaring me. I guess I don't care as much that he asked for the $80 back as much as I care that he couldn't cover me on the spot. I mean, if the reverse had happened I could've covered him easily. IN FACT... Thanks! I appreciate your comment. I'm actually surprised at the number of people on this subreddit against him paying for stuff BUT it's good, I guess. It's bringing me down to earth about what's normal and what isn't. I don't like stinginess either...sometimes he strikes me as that. But maybe he's just..frugal?

Thank you for your feedback. You're right. My last relationship definitely had some strong "sugar daddy" vibes and it lasted so long that It's hard for me to gauge what's normal and what's considered provider (but not sugar daddy). I need to be more independent when it comes to my car issues. As for the conversation, he never really paid much attention to it I think. I mentioned a few…

Thank you! You're right it's a red flag on my part and I'm trying to change my way of thinking. I appreciate your feedback.

Good luck with your future pup! He or she is going to make you so happy. I can’t believe how much I love him already.

I’m going through the same! Someone at work said I’m “too vocal”. I hate the constant disrespect I get from men who are below me at work and I definitely understand why some women choose to create companies with women only staff.

This is my mom :( She’s such a pickme. I love her to death but I wish I could teach her. She busted her ass working to maintain a family of five while my dad was unemployed and alcoholic. She’s so powerful for being able to somehow take care of all of us with such a low salar. She deserved better. It’s upsetting cause she was my go to friend to talk and gossip with but her advice is awful.

I personally don’t. Having a dog is such a high responsibility. I really can’t stress this enough. Especially when they’re in a new place and they’re anxious and scared. It’s a lot of work. You don’t know for sure the dog will be adopted yet by then. Alternatively, if you really like dogs and want to somehow be around them you can offer to pet sit or walk someone’s dog. But otherwise, trust me, it’s not a decision that should be taken lightly.

You’re completely right. Thank you. And I will reread it anyways, I need a refresher. I guess I’ve just dealt with so many true, complete scrotes/scumbags that he seems medium in comparison. In truth, he’s quite nice. Pays for everything, takes me out on nice dates, even nice getaways every now and then. But Like you said, he doesn’t significantly improve my life. I’d be interested in knowing how one can “significantly improve” my life. I guess I just don’t even know what that could be at this p…

Thank you! You’re right. I never even considered that wanting to find something to love was a thing. Before my puppy I just had to take care of and love myself. But there was still that subconscious need to love something, to nurture it, teach it, etc. It’s interesting how we’re wired. I’ve always said I’m not maternal because I’ve never wanted children but I guess that instinct was just manifesting in a different way.

I love this thank you. I ended up coming to the date (I'm in the bathroom right now lol) and I'm soooo glad I did. It's nice to spend time with another guy, even if there's no sexual stuff involved. It really clears things up, wow.

Thank you! I love this subreddit. I know it's making me a better person. Pre-FDS me would've given him full exclusivity and fantasized about our entire lives together lol.

Definitely! I was very wary of dating a "friend" as well but I'd be lying if I said I haven't been very attracted to him (physically and personality-wise) ever since we met. It's like I think we have all this history together when in reality, we've just now started going out. I hadn't seen him for a really long time. I don't owe him anything. Whatever history we have as friends is as friends and separate from dating. I just need to wrap my head around that.

Thanks!!! You're so right. It's also that having been in a very liberal feminist, equality loving college has made me feel guilty about this. Because as you say, they have drilled it into our heads that we HAVE to be independent and equal. But that never sat right with me. Which is why I asked this question. I needed help rationalizing it.

Thanks!! All those years of hardcore feminism at college are making me feel guilty about this but all this feedback is really helping.

Maybe it's because I think too technically or logically but this makes the most sense to me. Thank you!! I feel more confident now about my decision :)

I totally agree with you. I was thinking of how many products I use to get ready and it's a lot of money... But I have a question, doesn't this perpetuate the idea that women only look beautiful for men? I know I like doing these things for me... And even if I wasn't dating I'd still do them.

No! I swear to God. I'm just trying to understand.. Like if someone asked me why I think men should pay for everything I'm not sure what to say...even though I do think men should pay... I promise I'm not trolling.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
