All covid measures are theatre. The empiral evidence is in and nothing has made any impact whatsoever. But it makes us feel good because we’re doing something. And there was probably a lot of money made with masks and of course the vaccine. Not sure who benefitted from crashing our economies with lockdowns but I’m sure there’s an explanation for that one as well. What I really struggle to understand (from their POV) is China’s current “strategy”.

formerly left wing maybe? I think it’s fair to say that feminists have historically claimed to be representing the left, at least. I don’t think any feminst sees themselves as right wing. Whether we agree is another matter.

This is why I love thos sub. It’s the only place anywhere, not just on reddit, where I feel I’m among like minded people (politically speaking). It feels like a haven of sanity to me. The only place where there are left leaning people who don’t subscribe to extreme ideologies and support every cause of the zeitgeist blindly without thinking about it a bit. I usually only fit in with conservatives because among them is the only place where I can speak freely and voice criticism of woke ideas, etc…

Yeah I must say I’ve always felt that it sounded a bit moral panick-y to me, even if there admittedly have been a few trans (or perhaps pretending to be trans) sex offenders. I don’t think the concern is unwarranted, since it does make it easy for men to gain access to female only spaces, such as bathrooms, but the way people go bananas about this concern, and the way no one is at all worried about women using the mantle of a trans identity to potentially enter male spaces, makes this whole poin…

My country’s effed up foreign minister said today negotiations with Russia are off the table for her and she refuses to even meet with the Russian foreign minister anymore (I love it when people get paid for refusing to do their job). And people applaud her for her “strength”. Makes me sick beyond belief.

Singapore is a misandrist shithole.
/r/MensRights12/06/22 04:45 PM

Yeah, exactly! :) When you put it like that it sounds even more ridiculous. It’s like we’re supposed to choose between predefined menus. No mix ‘n matching allowed. Everyone needs to have a label. Half the time I get accused of being PC liberal scum and the other half someone else calls me alt right. In reality I just choose the drink from menu A and the sides from B. It makes voting very frustrating.

I didn’t say he wasn’t allowed to write and say theses things. I just think they’re awful and have nothing to do with men’s rights.
/r/MensRights12/03/18 06:19 PM

I guess my problem is how veiled this is. The author should just come right out and say “Look I believe boys, all boys, should aspire to be “manly” and behave like this” (which is a disgusting view in my book) instead of presenting it as some self-evident truth. And no I’m not a liberal. I’m as politically homeless as can be. I can never fully agree with eithet side. I think there’s always room for a “but” or an “uhm..” in almost every issue. I despise black and white thinking. I can’t go along …

Or how about no preaching at all and just let everyone decide what kind of person they want to be free from social pressure?
/r/MensRights12/03/18 12:03 PM

Yeah what if they do? Fine by me. Live and let live. But don’t go preaching to others about your lifestyle choices. Not everyone feels this way and some feel pressured to conform to these norms that don’t align with who they are.

I fail to see how any of this is specific to sons and I dislike the idea that generic life advice and etiquette has to somehow be gendered, as if the author wanted to encourage traditional gender norms. Also this is completely irrelevant to the sub.

My question to that would be: Since he has worked with both men and women, does he give the same life advice or does gender dictate the approach he uses? And if it does, does he believe that all men are the same as in receiving the same advice or does he grant men having different personality types and thus not living their life/achieving happiness using the same strategies? Because that would tell us a lot about his view on gender roles and masculinity in general.

Exactly my thoughts. I’m just not sure if I’m being unfair to Peterson in that assessment and he doesn’t actually think that. I just can’t quite get a handle on him. But my initial impression of him is that he isn’t quite on the same page as me. I do want boys to be whatever they want to be, including traditionally masculine. But I draw the line when we get into chivalry territory, because that is putting women on a pedestal. I’m not sure Peterson really wants us and women to have the same respo…

That’s totally okay! I guess I just don’t like the sentiment that we should go back to encouraging all boys to embrace traditional masculinity. I do understand that it’s under attack and too many boys aren’t allowed to be themselves anymore. It makes me mad, too. But at the same time some boys actually are a bit more...soft and maybe even feminine. And either groups should feel free to be who they want to be imo.

Ah, thanks for clarifying this matter. It seems like yet another outrage accusation by people who only see black and white and are not interested in the nuance of what he said.

He declared that he would not let anyone dictate to him what pronouns he must use. And, uhm, how do we feel about that? I often hear mockery of leftist intellectual dishonesty, indentity politics, etc. etc. and the idea of multiple gender indenties, in the same breath. And I’m still unsure what my opinion is. On the one hand I mostly agree with the former criticism, but as far as trans-issues are concerned I feel too ignorant to really have a strong opinion about how many genders there are or sh…

Yeah but imagine the roles being reversed. It's unthinkable. The fact that we are laughing at this low effort skit means that doing this to a man is not just ok but inherently funny, whereas the reverse would be met with disgust. I do think the violence double standard IS bad and this is worth getting offended at.

The 'best' part of this article is how it makes a point of saying men get assaulted too and how it's "not a gendered issue" before closing with a link to a feminist rape-crisis center that refuses men.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
