We can probably all agree that the most frustrating aspect of the whole ‘culture war’ is that the only prominent voices criticizing the zeitgeist are on the political right. While they often echo my own sentiments, they come at it from a different angle obviously, with different motivations.

But a troubling development in recent years has been the schism in feminism brought about by the advent of louder and more forgegrounded trans activism. The trans debate has taken the place of the gay debate in our culture and the discourse around is completely black and white on both sides.

Woke leftists/feminists who refused to go along, such as JK Rowling, were branded as “TERFS” and are now actively speaking out against the trans lobby.

What this means is that essentially we now have, for the first time, a second set of left-wing voices criticizing the now dominant left wing ideology.

The only other set of voices also criticizing established dogma on that front are of course conservatives.

And although you would think that they have completely different motivations and objectives and are really natural enemies, the rhetoric of both groups is shockingly identical these days and basically boils down to: “Won’t someone think of the women!”

However, both groups are chiefly concerned with

  1. Girls (and only girls) being seduced by the “gender craze” and encouraged to transition at a young age by reckless doctors when they may not actually be dysphoric

  2. Trans athletes threatening fair competition in women’s sports

  3. Men identifying as trans in order to easily enter women’s bathrooms and sexually prey on women.

(Note: My primary objective with how I’ve worded these three criticisms was accuracy in relaying the concerns. What we may think of them is entirely another matter and a different debate and I’m leaving that 100% open)

For feminists the motivation is their all-encompassing tunnel vision focus on women’s welfare.

For conservatives the motivation is chivalry, as always.

My point is: Whatever your take on the IMO complex and difficult trans issue may be, the only critical voices on the matter share a singular motivation: women. Right off the bat this colors the debate certain way. Men are completely excluded from the discussion, for starters. Trans women are treated with suspicion for their perhaps not so kosher motivations for identifying as trans. Trans men are viewed as misled and confused women who have fallen prey to something. And it all sucks for women in general.

Both feminists and conservatives see

  1. Trans women only as potential predators of women in bathrooms and the area of sports

  2. Trans men only as potential victims of an industry making hormome therapy and reassignment surgery a lucrative new business.

  3. Cis women as the victims of this whole situation

  4. Men as…wait who?

Bottom line: It’s all black and white and it’s all only about women, as usual.

Another similarly colored topic is the draft/selective service. Both of these groups are the loudest critics of proposals to include women and girls in any kind of military service or mandatory draft registration. Both will call it “misogynistic”.

Which only leaves us. There are no voices taking any kind of critical stance on contemporary issues from a left-wing perspective that aren’t biased in favor of women.

And it’s crucial to take note that conservatives are not really our allies, as they care little for men and boys (unless it’s about their right to expressing the traditional male gender role). On that point alone they fight our fight. But the moment you suggest something more left-wing, such as genuine equality on issues of life and death in war times, no one will have our back. Both conservatives and anyone on the left will fight you. Men don’t matter to anyone, left or right. And every issue will seemingly always be colored with this particular bias, which prevents a truly objective look at it IMO.
