FINALLY. I've been sharing this video at every opportunity. I'm so glad to see others latching onto it. Alisson Tieman is a genius. She has such a way of removing the veil of bullshit over everything in a simply eye-opening way. So many of our critiques of feminism AND traditionalism can be traced back to this. This video is the embodiment of this subreddit, in my opinion.

Don't prove them right by making that out to be your problem.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates30/04/25 02:04 AM
3

I agree with you. That's why I made my response later on about "conversion therapy". I should have just said what you said instead, but I didn't want to bother putting all of that into words
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/04/25 03:37 AM
2

Hence why I put it in quotes. I know it's not the same, but I made the comparison to get my point across. If you don't get what my point is, that doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. We both support the right to transition. We just have different ways of going about it.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/04/25 02:12 AM
1

So "conversion therapy" for trans people can actually work?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/04/25 02:06 AM
2

If it's the same, then what are you arguing? By that line of logic, either body dismorphia is rational and should be solved with physical alterations to the body rather than mental health intervention, or you're arguing the reverse for gender disphoria.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/04/25 01:39 AM

"There were actually calls to desegregate sports by sex entirely" Was that call taken seriously at all? Who thought this was a good idea?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/04/25 11:37 PM
9

How is this different from body dismorphia in that case? Not a rhetorical question. I'm genuine.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/04/25 11:30 PM
1

B A S E D Why did you expect to be mass downvoted or even banned for this? There's nothing transphobic about criticising trans activists. Nothing here violates any rule that I know of.

They're encouraging suicide. Just use the real word. Call it what it is. This isn't Youtube
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/04/25 09:10 PM

They're authoritarian leftists, but still leftists. I wish I could say they're not "real leftists" but it doesn't work like that. What do you think they are then?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/04/25 02:42 AM

If you seriously think "reverse racism", "reverse sexism" or whichever forms of self rightous bigotry and discrimination these types of liberals preach did anything for the greater good, then you haven't been paying attention to the last 10 years.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/04/25 01:43 AM

You don't even realize how much you've proven my point. And I can't even think of a single instance where this ad hominum has any worth even when it's true (and in this case, it isn't).

Good to know the movie itself is ok. I'll take your word for it

He explicitely calls it "not a documentary". Yet the god damn prime minister of the UK refers to it as such and writes policy based on it. 8:12 So boys are saying and doing harmful things to girls because they've been poluted. Not even by Andrew Tate because to my surprise, he does admit that Tate isn't actually taken that seriously, but by people with similar messaging. It's obvious he's referring to the Red Pill in general, and likely everything else that is categorized as "manosphere", but it…

I'm going to take a wild guess. The message is along the lines of "Men want to have girlfriends they can treat like objects/slaves".

I've seen this exact comment pop up a decent amount in other places where you wouldn't expect it. What I'm really wondering is what the hell Companion is even about in order to recieve it.

"People (particularly leftists) are so closed-minded" I don't think it's particularly leftists. It's just particularly radicals of any end of the spectrum

Just being MILDLY critical of modern feminist misandry cost me a friendship. Good riddance I guess. Now that I'm pretty much an MRA, I would expect to lose a lot more if the topic ever comes up, but it just rarely does. On the rare occasions that it does come up, I feel no need to dump all of this stuff on them at once. I just tell them the relevant information without diving too deep into my beliefs because I'd rather let them come up with their own conclusions from what I say. Only my closest …

If that common mistake is just as commonly made by intersectional feminists in the first place, is it really wrong to call it an aspect of their ideology? Even the video itself, despite its somewhat mislieading title doesn't even dismiss every aspect of intersectionality. All Alisson calls out here is the part of it that asserts that women are an oppressed class relative to men
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/04/25 04:49 AM

You probably get that a lot, but you're very sweet, and I look forward to seeing the questions you have in store for us

It's all about hyper-agency on men as usual, but Alisson Tieman says it best here. This short clip is really relevant to what you just said.

At what point did I hurl "gay insults" and question your identity? All I did was call out this feminist user in her hypocrisy and tell her that maybe the real reason she feels so attacked by this sub's arguments is because they're getting her to question herself. I still have no clue what you're on about.

If you get horrified that easily at differing opinions, then perhaps the stats he brought up aren't so wrong after all? In fact, if you were a perfectly accurate representation of the average woman, you would have completely proven his point right then and there. You interpreted women's unwillingness to share their political opinions as "shyness" but maybe they're all just ""horrified"" like you are, which says more about your cowardice than it does about how terrible and unreasonable we supposi…

Do you seriously think the women I listed do it for the money? There's way more money to be made from pandering to feminist propaganda. If you want small content creators, there's Primm Reaper and a couple others no one knows about because they're too small to earn anything from their content. There are also obviously women offline who get it.

Any woman? Easy. Check out Honey Badger Radio. For a young (or "modern" if you will) woman, check out Shoeonhead or Emily King.

I think the first paragraph violates our rule about generalisations. And I have seen some young women genuinely understand this, so you're not even correct to say it's "literally impossible". You can specify "many" or even "most", and I might agree with you. Just don't deal in absolutes. Is that so hard?

I'll never forget that Tumblr post that said (quoting from memory): "Why do men turn to shitty Redpill gurus to figure out how to be attractive to women? Women really aren't that complicated. We wrote so many novels of stories about the exact kind of men we're attracted to. Just follow that instead." Holy shit. Imagine how horrible the outcome would be if men actually followed her advice and used these books as a blueprint for their dating strategy. Male criminality would skyrocket to say the le…

You really undermined how frustrating this article really is. The only "hopeful" thing about it is that they're finally acknowledging facts that are so irrefutable that not acknowledging them would hurt their credibillity. As far as I can tell, there's nothing altruistic about this. This is especially evident when you read the other articles linked within this article. You're correct. Porn addiction is fucking people up, reducing stable relationships, and destabalizing the ones that do happen. The porn industry in and of itself is also undeniably harmful to the people directly involved in it, both male and female. I hate how tradcons blame porn for everything, I hate how feminists use it to excuse their own bigotry and lies, and I don't think it should be illegal, but for the people on this sub to claim it doesn't do any harm is insane.

I mean... if I were to make a pro-male series or film, I would market it as man-hating slop to ensure it gets the aidience it needs to reach, but that might just be me. I am not getting my hopes up for this at all. At best, it'll end up being anti-feminist on accident, like Barbie. That would be funny. That being said, I getcha. I somewhat relate.

I think it's pro male in how well it expresses the "women as sex objects" and "men as success objects" thing from Warren Farrel's The Myth Of Male Power. The ties to the book are obviously accidental, but that's what it reminds me of.

Chainsaw Man always did feel pro-male in a way I couldn't quite express. This video's message may be delivered through feminist buzzwords and unproven premises, but it still has a point, even if his definition of masculinity and its origin are similarly rooted in dogma.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates23/01/25 05:19 AM

The reason it doesn't work out in practice is because it doesn't work out in theory either. For all of the aspects of feminism that I agree with, it's still ultimately inherently anti-egalitarian in theory and in practice.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates12/12/24 05:44 AM

Every generation claims that the previous generations were horribly oppressive towards women. This FAR pre-dates feminism. If we don't break the cycle, two generations from now, people will claim that we horribly oppressed women in our time, despite the fact that we know that couldn't possibly be further from the truth.

I don't know if it's most people, but I know a lot of this sub's userbase shares your story, including myself. The only reason I used to be right wing was because I didn't know of any kind of leftism that separates itself from feminism, let alone called it out

I never said Trump and Vance are better. The question she answered was very clear. It was in the context of a discussion about abortion, but the question was about bodily autonomy in general. Lots of issues with your claims about circumcision, but ultimately, I regret even bringing it up. I should have focused on the draft because it's the one thing the people who disagree with the OP most commonly avoid bringing up, and it's the one point that needs to be hammered in as much as possible when it…

Women make up most of the voting population and Harris is on a platform which is mostly just designed to pander to them. That's what I mean.
/r/MensRights21/10/24 05:16 PM

Read the OP, or watch the podcast for yourself. Don't you have eyes and ears? She literally denied that the gouvernment does have laws that control men's bodies and she laughed about it. To distract from that, you just said "vote democrat" despite the fact that a democrat did this in the first place. You are in no position to talk about "context". I'm done here. Your media and philosophical literacy is some 6th grade level shit.
/r/MensRights21/10/24 05:12 AM

Why are you assuming everyone here wants to vote for Trump? The only thing we have in common on this sub is that we care about men's issues. This isn't a pro-Trump sub. Many of us are, and many of us aren't. I personally wouldn't want to vote for him. You strawmanned me and made a fool of yourself for nothing.

No you're not. You're just doing whataboutism by saying that at least democrats actually care about bodily autonomy, when that's not the point. If that's not moving the goal post to distract us from this uncomfortabke fact to make Harris look good, then you're just straight up not able to read what I'm saying, which is worse. No one is saying that. Why do you assume that I'm anti-bodily autonomy when the whole point of the post is to defend men's bodily autonomy? The point is that Harris DENIES the issue of bodily autonomy when it comes to men, and you're moving the goalpost to do the same. How the fuck could I make that any clearer? Additionally, that's not the point. Did you just assume I'm a republican theist because I criticized a democrat canditate? I also hate Trump. Do I need to throw that disclaimer out there…

The majority of the interview is about how Roe v Wade's repealment and abortion restrictions in general is all about controlling women's bodies. The rest is mostly about how women have it so much worse in society and men don't understand them.

I'll tell you the same thing I tell my friends. Things WILL get better eventually. Not because there's gonna be one magic cinematic moment where society spontaniously decides to recognize men's issues for the sake of men's well being, but because if it fails to adress them and put in the work, it's not gonna survive. What we have right now is not sustainable in the long term. Things will get better because they HAVE to. We've survived worse, haven't we?

"Men shouldn't be writing laws about women's bodies" Let's ignore the general irrelevance of the sex of lawmakers when it comes to how it correlates to the benefit of the sex affected by these laws (the harshest anti-abortion law in US history was written by a woman) and the fact that unwanted pragnancies also negatively impact men (with them having no say after conception regardless of the legality of abortion). Let's instead accept this logic at face value while remaining internally consistant…

So many people make shit up when it comes to something their infants allegedly said. It's strange. She was most likely just projecting her views on her 3 year old and pretended that the child was already on board with the narrative to get a reaction of laughter from the people she was telling this to. It's not a joke. As for hyperbole, of course, they all respond "You're missing the point" and then proceed to contradict their own conclusions by saying "It's just meant to spread awareness of how scared women are of men" and shit. If they actually were this scared of men, they would not be so comfortable emotionally abusing them with a smile of their face. And they KNOW it's abuse, because if you ask them the same question about specific demographics of men, even ones that are statistically mor…

Are you listening to yourself? Think about it. According you, being a feminist (which is by definition subscribing to a political ideology) has nothing to do with whether or not you abide by any of what the ideology or its members are about and everything to do with "not hating women", something that not only predates feminism, but pre-dates civilization. Have you considered the possibillity that "to care about women is to be a feminist" is feminist propaganda?

If it's an issue with people in general being bad, then why did you assert that men, and only men "abuse the fuck out of male spaces"? Wouldn't women also abuse thier own spaces? Wouldn't they also have "locker room talk"? Spoiler alert: A similarly small minority of them do, and it's thier right. We have no interest in taking away women's spaces just because of the horrible things that are said in them, and neither should they have an interest in stigmatizing and shutting down male spaces for t…

Feminism is founded on the presumption that men oppress women to selfishly benefit themselves at women's expanse. Such an assertion is inherently anti-egalitarian, anti-male, and most importantly, demonstrably false. Only if it's consistant AND if the accusation of derailing is true in the first place. From my experience, when a feminist accuses someone of wanting to silence women by bringing up male victims, it's in a context where they were only brought up because the feminist used male perpetrator/female victim instances of sexual violence to claim moral dominance for herself in the first place. She has no interest to actually engage with the issue of sexual violence against women in an honest way. She on…

The only way this could be victim blaming is if we were to percieve women solely as victims, and defining them as such. And naturally, if we define women as victims, that's all they're ever going to be. Even if what's victimising them is the narrative that they are the victimized sex

The feminism of yesterday is the "patriarchy" of tommorow. Feminists are so blinded by thier notion of male hyper-agency that they can't see that they're pretty much thier own worst enemies, or maybe they do see it and use to thier advantage to make sure feminism is always "necessary". They create an evil to fight, they destroy it, and then create a new one over and over so they can pat themselves on the back
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/06/24 08:35 PM
5

Then why not call yourself an egitarian instead of associating yourself with people who are responsible for this man-hating orgy? The man-hating orgy that we have today isn't actually new. It's only gotten worse over time because feminism has ingrained itself into our culture more. The natural conclusion of patriarchy "theory" is that men are soulless sociopaths, so is it any wonder that society's acceptance of that narrative correlates with its openly anti-male attitude?

I don't have hope, but I do have faith. The relationship between men and women is the foundation of EVERYTHING humanity has ever created. If we can't maintain that, we will actually fucking collapse. Because "when everyone's a bigot, no one will be".

I see no reason to even put up with this unless that particular woman would be equally tolerent of a man who says he hates women. Also, why would they make this statement to "test our misoginy levels"? Explain the logic in that

The most bafling part about this is that feminists tend to see it as dehumanization of women rather than a privilege. They say that reffering to a female victim as "someone's daughter" robs them of thier personhood, but they completely ignore that this is what it contextually entails.

I'm surprised this even made it into the Movie when you consider how Disney has been treating Men, and even their Male Characters. This scene being so pro-male was either an accident or something the writers knew would fly under the radar of most people. Most likely the former. I still love it so much though. Zootopia being pro-male on accident arguably makes way more powerful

With all being said, this post wasn't made to defend incels and what they say about women, it's just that the situation itself is insane. Don't even say that. That's playing right into thier hands. If you have a problem with the mysoginistic things some incels say, then you can say "this post wasn't mean to defend misoginy" if you want, even if it would be out of left field. Men hear phrases like toxic masculinity and that affects their mind. It lowers their confidence and self-esteem. Women don't want to date men who lack confidence. Many men are afraid of being (falsely) accused of harassment. Some men don't give a shit and they will approach women anyway. This one can't be said enough.

You didn't read my whole comment despite me specifically requesting that you do. I don't believe in collective shame. I just believe in a collective effort to look within ourselves and see where that behavior is coming from. He's involuntarily celibate, i.e an incel. It's that simple. By defining incels as being ideologically driven by misoginy, you are allowing feminists to control the framing of the discussion and to divide misoginists into 2 groups: The ones who have sexual relationships and the ones who don't. If feminists actually thought the biggest problem with incels was thier misoginy, they would just refer to them as misoginists. There is one important difference in the fact that race isn't a factor when it comes to how well you can defend yourself from an attacker, whereas biological sex is definitely an important factor. Redpillers conflate the two as well. There is so much red pill stuff that has black pill elements (and vice versa) into it that it's almost impossible to completely separate the two unless we go with the traditional definition of The Red Pill (as seen in the documentary of the same name). As far as feminism is concerned, are they really? They say that men are evil enough to willingly subjugate, enslave, and dehumanize thier own mothers, sisters, daughters and wives for pretty much all of human history accross the entire world. According to feminism, men could not feel empathy for the people they have the closest, most intimate relationships with. The only conclusion that can be drawn from that is that men are relentless sociopaths way beyond saving. When you view the world that w…

Feminism uses it, and so do red pill/PUA communities. For some reason, one is commonly seen as sexist, and one isn't. The "height pay gap" is something that needs more investigating. I know very little about it atm. Other than that, I agree completely. From what I've seen, trans women actually seem to get more shit than trans men. Someone percieved as male "appropriating" womanhood is more taboo than the other way around because manhood is something that can and must be earned, whereas womanhood is seen as innate and tied to biology much more often. nearly all of their problems that time was due to misandry I feel like more nuance is in order here. Paul Elam said some nasty shit. Aside from my general dislike of labels, he's the only reason I don't call myself an MRA. I have a ton of respect for every prominant MRA that I know of (especially the Honeybadgers), but Paul is the exception. I still agree with basically everything he said in TRP documentary specifically, and any attempt to shut down the points he made in it because of what he said outside of it is clearly in bad faith. Still, I try to lead by example by not associating myself w…

Feminists who buy into the patriarchal theory that asserts working class men have an allyship with ruling class men to oppress women for thier own gain. The more recent takes on patriarchy theory is that it "hurts men, too" and only really benefits patriarchs, but even then, it's still used as an excuse to neglect men's issues and push the narrative of male privilege and female oppression. Not to mention some feminists absolutely still believe men as a class are the oppressors. I've seen it firs…

Women always hvae had the power when it comes to sex, and they definitely know how to use it for their own benefit. Just because it's the default setting due to how our gender norms are shaped doesn't mean it's "always" like that. Remember to allow for exceptions. Forced marriages are a thing, for example

I agree that it is power, but just like male sources of "power", it's entirely situational and can backfire on you at any moment in time. IF Weinstein did coerce these women into sex under the threat of being fired, it's irrelevant to say they both had power in this scenario, since the woman's attractiveness and charisma plays no role in the dynamic of this scenario other than to make her a more alluring target. If the woman was the one offering sexual favors in exchange for privileges that's a …

Back when I first became a feminist (as a pre-teen, for context), I was happy with the idea that I was "one of the good ones", and could be one to save women from the over-abundance of toxic males. Once I found out I had been lied to, I looked back and thought "Damn... feminism is weaponizing the male fantasy of being a savior to women for its own political gain." Then I realized that there's nothing to be happy about in the narrative that my own gender is systematically sociopathic to the point…

It depends on the feminist in question. #YesAllMen was specifically about how all men benefit from the patriarchy. Feminists tried to justify a woman's murder of her husband on her pre-menstrual syndrome, claiming that it wasn't her fault she acted irrationally. Guess what? It fucking worked. Her sentence got reduced to basically nothing, and then they went on to complain about women not being taken seriously in workplace scenarios. Fucking nuts.

In your case, the conversation is necessary, so go ahead and initiate it. That's perfectly fine. Having monogamy as the default is still undeniably more ethical than the other way around. You don't have to think about it for long to understand why.

And neither is assuming polygamy comsenting to it. This means we NEED to default to a standard assumption. What else could this assumption be if not the one ingrained in our society? Monogamy is the norm, and that's fine. Straying from said norm is ALSO fine if both parties consent. You're making a big deal over nothing imo.

The part that really stood out to me so far was the US air force study cited early on that concludes that between 27% and 60% of rape allegations are false. The number I was familiar with was 8%, which is still high, but sounds much more realistic. This one is just absurdly high and I don't understand how it's possible. I'm referring to his own videos. Some of which were responded to by HoneyBadgerRadio. Dr K brings up some valid issues but also makes some hasty generalisations and straw-mans. The worst part is how stuck he is in the "women have it worse" mentality.

Obviously, feminism isn't THE problem, but it is A problem. If you've been in feminist communities and read our criticism of the movement, you should already have a good idea of what that problem is. Personally, I would rather have an honest unapolagetic movement than one which wears a mask to appeal to people who already wear a mask to pretend they act in the common best interest when they really don't. When you look at it that way, alienating "allies" should be considered less of a burden. For…

Right wing MRAs frequently have shitty takes, but they almost always have more to do with the fact that they're right wing than the fact that they're MRAs. Karen Straughan comes to mind first, since I don't really know much about Paul Elam. What did he say that was so bad?

I'm glad he did, but creating a moral panic about women making false allegations is obviously immoral. You didn't exactly set him up to be someone who can trust women, and obviously, he shouldn't trust ALL women, but my issue with your advice lacking nuance still stands.

Yeah same. Even after finding out, I still watched her from time to time for the same reason. Not anymore though. I agree with your stance on the red/black pill. That's not what the documentary is about though. It goes out of its way to point out that the "red pill" the title refers to is the original movement started by the MRM, not the name hijacked by Redditors. It's a documentary on MRAs, not actual red pillers, and it's a must-watch if you ask me. It's a shame the title of the documentary is so misleading. A quote at the end of it goes something like: "The MRM wants to change the system, Reddit's The R…

At one point, Queen Victoria actually banned women from voting, including female landowners. It's in cases like these that I really start to wonder where, when, and how female in-group bias comes to be. I know for a fact that it's a real thing, but shit like this and the fact that the one of the most strict anti-abortion laws was written by a woman make me feel like this really might not be as simple as "women love women and want what's best for them". Can anyone explain how these two seemingly …

And why would it be self-defeating ? I was refering to patriarchy theory itself. Not the framework that led to it which you brought up. You said that the theory's usefulness is more important than its accuracy, and I think that under most definitions, it's useless at best, and harmful at worst. By the way, thanks for correcting me on the assumption I made about feminists. Another solid imput as usual.

It’s… complicated, if you want to give some credence to the idea. How much credance do you give to the idea? I'm curious The problem isn’t this kind of analysis. It’s that when you try to walk that same line of thinking but for men, you’re a raging misogynist. Even when they don't demonize men who use thier logic against them, they still assert that we live in a patriarchy, and as such women have it worse and men are the cause of thier own problems. The analysis makes sense on paper I think, but…

You don't have to engage with people with the goal of chaining their mind. You might want to engage with someone to thoroughly understand their point of view. I tried that, but I failed. Ended up in a full on debate where we argued about statistics that had nothing to do with the original discussion. I lost a friend in the process, because in trying to help her, understand her and show her my own point of view, I ended up getting titlted by her misandry and so I pushed the discussion into a deba…

Straight forward and logical. Thanks. Still, I have to admit it's hard to bite my tongue when my feminist friend goes on a rant. I know it's a bad idea to start arguing because he's persistant as fuck even when he's wrong, but he's otherwise a great friend with whom I share a lot of values with. I already lost a friend over a different feminism-related debate, and I don't want it to happen again, so this is a battle I'll try my hardest not to pick.

/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/06/22 11:04 PM

Isn't saying that men "brainwash" women in some way asserting that they're smarter than them, or at least not as guillible? Either you think that women are autonamous beings who are just as smart, manipulative, and vulnerable to manipulation as men, or you think that women are mentally weaker by design and thus powerless to this "brain-washing" from men. If we were to say that, they would complain about how we make everything about men ("This isn't about you!"), and if we were to bring up different male issues, they would undermine them by saying women have it worse, especially now that the Roe v Wade overturn happened ("Says the gender that removed women's reproductive rights!").

Abortion being illegal in so much of the US doesn't just suck in itself. It sucks because feminism finally won back some much needed leverage. I don't think any of us are infallible. I just think that with the empathy gap and our social & biological wiring that already makes us more likely to care about women's issues than men's issues, we're not likely to gain that much power to begin with, let alone abuse it. Perhaps I'm pessimistic, but maybe if we achieve the former in like, a thousand years, we can start worrying about the latter.

I never liked the idea of drafting women because it's not a good comprimise. When a demographic has thier freedom stripped away to put thier lives put at risk in a horrific warzone for the game of the rich, the solution isn't to inflict that burden onto all adult demographics. It's to remove it completely. I'm not willing to settle for anything less than the abolishment of conscription, so learning that women are to be drafted too wasn't good news to me at all. I used to be just like you. The only reason I stayed right leaning for as long as I did was because of thier views regarding feminism. This sub helped me realize that it's not a right wing exclusivity, and that the left has way more diversity of ideas than I initially expected. So many of them are annoyed by the exact same things that you are. The things that define thier left wing position may not be what you expect it to be. Basically, I'm suggesting you open your mind a bit more. You don't ev…

Since men and women can both display masculine and feminine traits, the way to define masculinity and femininity are a bit subjective, despite the personality differences you brought up. So if someone displays toxicity typically asssociated with maleness out of insecurity for not being manly enough, it would have to be because that person lacks masculinity by thier own definition of it. That's what I meant by "lacking masculinity". There's no specific male code of conduct, but for those who are …

I'm posting this because I like the way memes like Giga Chad portray stereotypically masculine men nowadays. This is mostly what I gathered from talking to ex feminists and finding out that a lot of MRAs were feminists at one point. Cassie Jaye is far from the only feminist who went through that journey (altgough she's not technically an MRA). When you look at the small percentage of men and women who call themsleves feminists (in Canada at least) and realize that feminism's basic demands were met last century (in no small part thanks to the overwhelming support they had back then), it all adds up.

At one point, I agreed with you. Now, not so much. There are only two reasons I don't call feminism a hate group. 1: Some of its members are genuinely responsible for positive progress. It's worth noting that a shockingly large portion of feminists who were responsible for that change throughout the 20th century have since dropped that label since they no longer agree with the movement's goals and motives. Some great egalitarian feminists still exist even to this day, but they're heavily margina…

Not quite accurate if you ask me. Feminists, whether male or female, rarely think that literally 100% of men are evil predators. They only feel that way about the men who are in any way critical of thier narrative. Not unlike how racist conservatives treat minorities (especially the ones of a different culture). Many male feminists really seem to love the ego boost they get from from the belief that they're "one of the good ones" who need to spread thier gospel to "unevolved" men who need to see…

I know, but "patriarchy" refers to a systemic issue that can easily be explained by how capitalism reinforces those gender roles, as explained in detail here: https://marxistleftreview.org/articles/the-poverty-of-patriarchy-theory/ Human beings are nature and nurture, so it's not one or the other, but both. When it comes to patriarchy though, it just doesn't fit anywhere. Occam's razor dismantles it completely.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates23/05/22 06:01 PM
3

Yep. Men and women were both opressed in different ways by the ruling class, and to say that women's oppression came from men as a class is honestly pretty disgusting and dodges the real issue. "Patriarchy" is just a scapegoat for capitalism.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates23/05/22 04:41 PM

So your solution is to sink to thier level? We can call out feminists without resorting to thier tactics, can't we? We can certainly be advocates for men without telling women that thier pain is somehow less valid because they're the privileged group.

Perhaps he meant that all of the misandry is leading him to view women as a whole more negatively. There's a lot to unpack here, but for starters, the term you're really looking for is "gender norms" (initially created for the survival of our species and re-enforced by capitalism and its competitive aspects). The term "patriarchy" is short-sighted/dishonest at best and hateful at worst because by most modern definitions, it's a system of male oppression designed to benefit them at the expanse of women. Not only is that a horrific misreading of history, but it's a conspiracy theory that frames…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/05/22 02:36 AM

And they HAVE to be seen as equally important because pretty much every gendered issue is interconnected. You could retort by saying "Downplaying men's issues hurts women, too" and by extension, "Ignoring the damages caused by feminism hurts women, too" because both of those things are true.

Probably for the same reason philosopher E Belfort Bax wrote "The Legal Subjecation of Men". Both genders had shit living conditions and were essentially slaves in some ways. If you take either of thier issues out of context, you could make an argument for either of them being opressed, which is something you can't do for racial oppression. It should never matter who's most affected unless deliberate discrimination is the cause. These are human rights issues. Nothing less. Most of us are surely aware of that. Isn't the main reason we advocate for men simply because thier issues have been excluded from the gender equality discussion since... basically forever? I know it's the reason I do it. I'm an egalitarian first and foremost.

I agree that the right isn't any less misandrist. It's just better at hiding it. As an ex-right-winger, I can tell you the reason why it was more appeling to me and many other men is because it doesn't blame us for every wrong in the world, and it doesn't act like there's something fundementally wrong with us. Feminists and right wingers both only give a shit about men as long as they actively serve thier cause. This is minor generalisation, but you get the idea.

I agree, but this is sadly a universal truth most people chose to ignore. You can't have sexism towards one gender without having it towards the other. That's the biggest difference between sexism and racism. The disposable actor vs the precious acted-upon is a dynamic that existed since the beginning of humanity, and they're so intertwined that anything that hurts one group is bound to hurt the other in some different often unexpected way. That's why the idea of gender opression is bullshit and…

"What do you mean "like me"? People that openly admit they fit the definition of an incel if we're going by the pure meaning but without any of the blackpill subculture stuff attached?" Yeah, exactly. As much as I often agree with you, I think those kinds of posts could easily scare away newcomers. I'm not saying that to silence you in any way. Your perspective is definitely welcome and I apreciate you shedding light on more taboo male issues. I'm just saying it how it is. As for the post itself…

Ça fait du sens, mais si on veut continuer l'activisme pour le droit des femmes sous le nom du féminisme, il faut absolument que le mouvement apprenne de ses erreurs, en commençant par les reconnaître. C'est mon point principal.

Every time someone brings up patriarchy, I'm obligated to ask what they mean by that. In your case, you say feminists know how beneficial "patriarchy" is to them, but I believe that claiming we live in a patriarchy is short-sighted and dishonest at best, and outright hateful at worst.

Reading it again, I have a better understanding of where you're coming from, but something about it rubs me the wrong way. The fact that you made the comparison to begin with feels kind of sketchy. I do appreciate your honesty and the unique takes I've seen you post on a many issues like this one, but I've gotta admit: If this sub had more people like you it'd probably be less popular lol. Whichever ends or reduces violence the most is the one to strive for. I know that's broad as fuck, but I don't see what's the point of discriminating unless there's already one-sided gendered discrimination involved in violence. Despite what feminists would have you believe, this isn't the case. Gendercide isn't a one way street, and it's not a contest anyone should strive to play in the "opression olympics".

That's needlessly rude and the solution you provide to her fear is far from ideal. I agree that the androphobia felt by many women tends to be at severely irrational levels in most circomstances, as well as unhelpful in pretty much all of them, but it's crucial to stay as empathetic as possible. If she feels this way, it's either because of trauma involving men, or because of other people's trauma getting to her with maybe a dash of feminist propaganda sprinkled on top. Even in the latter scenar…

Soon after I commented, I realized I should have been way more specific. This is the first time I personally witness the gouvernment engage in a campaign grounded in a complete myth under the pretext of appealing to a leftist value (equality). By the way, did the OP get brigaded by feminists or something? It went from 68 upvotes to 2. They could have at least said something.

Yeah, but aside from religion, which is a whole different beast, those people are usually the minority. When was the last time the gouvernment engaged in a conspiracy of this scale?

That doesn't explain how so many people bought this shit. You don't seem to understand that my gouvernment is spending actual money to end a problem that DOESN'T EXIST through unspecified means. I want to believe that I'm missing something. I really want to believe that I was wrong all along and that there is systematic wage discrimination against women in Canada. At least then, all of this would be justified instead of being actual discriminatory action fueled by decades of propaganda.

Remember the season 5 finale where evil Morty makes that speech about Ricks being constant victims of themselves? That had as much subtlety as a bat to the face and made me roll my eyes. I'm also starting to prefer Solar Opposites as a result. Thier "gender thing" episode was surprisingly great

Bruh that's a part I agree with. I would argue that the modern left holds a huge chunk of responsabillity for radicalizing the right, (hence why I call both of them out despite being left wing), but again, that doesn't matter to this discussion. All we can do is stand against shitty people and hope for the best.

Even in the best of interpretations, there are better words that can be used to describe those concepts. Toxic masculinity: Toxic attitudes towards masculinity or in some cases, internalized misandry Patriarchy: Gender norms or straight up capitalism
/r/EverydayMisandry26/04/22 02:18 AM

That's the one. Thank you. And I perfectly get what you're saying. Those kinds of "leftists" are more bigoted than the overwhelming majority of right wingers that I've seen, and actively push people towards the right as a result of thier hypocrisy. So not only are they terrible people, but they also hurt the causes they're supposidly advocating for. Edit: For some reason, I decided to read more of it. Yep, it's fucking crushing

We're not an equivalent to feminism unless you're specifically talking about equity feminists like Christina Hoff Sommers, who sadly don't come even remotely close to representing the movement as a whole. I've felt the same way at one point. Starting to work out was the best decision of my life partly because it helped me get rid of the remains of that mindset. The grass isn't greener on the other side. It's a shame that many women don't understand this, but it is what it is. I can't tell if you're serious. In case you're somehow not kidding, how do you fail to see the irony of your own statement? Blaming male suicide and poor mental health on toxic masculinity is, in and of itself, the most victim-blaming tactic I've ever seen. I don't even need to go into how sexist it is, because the raw disgusting nature of that statement already makes it morally reprehensible enough.

Not only that, but I genuinely think that we've reached a point in our society where the absolute best way to truly help women is to target men's issues. As Karen Straughan pointed out, gendered issues are nothing like racial issues. One gender didn't just show up one day to assert thier power over the other and oppress them. Men and women have been co-dependant since even before humanity for fuck's sake. As such, you can't have sexism towards women without also having some kind of sexism toward…

I stand corrected. Context sure does matter. I still don't wanna adopt a self-limiting label, and I still think we must call out the toxic people in the movement, but damn... Wikipedia did MRAs dirty by not elaborating on the situation

Damn right. The first point in particular is extremely rarely challenged. Do we have a post that does so already? If not, I think we should change that. This needs to be more well known

It's true. We don't have a place in the western culture war, but we can make it ourselves. I think we should engage and raise awareness.

The part about the 400 false rape allegations by so-called MRAs ia fucking embarassing. God damn. This is a big part of why I rejected the label of MRA. The worst of them are absolutely no better than the ones they criticize. All things considered, I did leave r/mensrights because of its hostility and occasional misogyny so I can see why it has that reputation. It's a damn shame it's tainted with the label of a hate group though, because it makes this sub's job infinitely harder. Not to mention …

So they're not against men... as long as they fully agree with the feminist narrative. I'm curious how you define patriarchy anyway. Pretty sure we already have posts which adress how narrow-minded and outright harmful it is as an ideology, but I'll give my two cents anyway. The way I see it, it has a symbiotic relationship with toxic masculinity. Toxic masculinity puts the evils of society in men Patriarchy puts men in the evils of society. In some cases, both are referred to as patriarchy, but…

It seems you already adressed most of the arguments I was about to make, but you have to admit it's a really tricky situation. We can't just censor or austricize every self-proclaimed feminist who shows up here, but we also can't allow them to condone the harmful ideas of the most prominent people in thier movement. My point is that, on paper, there's nothing wrong with a group that targets women's issues in the name of legitimate equality. That's what feminism should be, and some branches of fe…

I guess your main point is fair. Anyone who blames thier issues exclusively on the opposite gender is out of thier mind. I agree. I'm not the only one either. I'm sure most of us would agree. This is the best MRA community I've ever seen by a landslide. Still, there's bound to be a few people incapable of proper debate even among us. Sorry if your first impression of this sub has been with them. God damn it. Why is this thread so tense? Can everyone chill tf out? As much as I disagree with mainstream feminism, you have the right to adopt the label if you want. Personally, I'm neither a feminist or an MRA. While I agree with MRAs far more often, adopting either label over the other limits my way of thinking about gendered issues and puts me in a box, so it's either both or nothing. I prefer nothing, but if you want both, I think that's fine. The term "feminism" is so broad that it can me…

No one is arguing against the fact that presidents have all been male. (My province has had women as mayors and other powerful positions, but I digress). My point is that calling it a patriarchy is a dishonest, misleading, and quite frankly even harmful way to go about the issue. Firstly, the fact that men and women are wired in a way that typically leads them to make different career choices certainly plays a role. I don't know why they're that way, but in fact, studies show that the more gende…

This is why feminists who protest MRA meetings piss me off so damn much. They're the only feminists that actually make me angry. At least the ones who spout "Kill all men" are usually trolling. They're sort of self aware that they're evil. These ones genuinely think they're doing positive activism for women. You can't so blatantly get in the way of the solution to gendered issues, demonize men who want to improve themselves, and then complain about how cruel they are and how they much "oppress" …

Observations and experiences aren't worthless, but they can lead to harmful over-generalizations when used as your exclusive lens with which you percieve the world. In the same way a woman's shitty experience with men can lead her to believe beyond doupt that they're all trash, your observation and experiences about women lacking empathy for men could lead you to think this is universally true for all of them. It's an issue worth careful consideration for sure, but not every man shares the same …

The dismantling of rape culture I guess? (which many feminists do claim also affects men and boys in different ways). There's probably other stuff that's not popping up into my head at the moment but like I said, I don't care where feminism finds itself on the political spectrum. However, if more people start calling it right wing, maybe it'll finally force feminists to take a moment of introspection, so I wish you the best of luck with that.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/02/22 09:44 PM

The last part is something I disagree with partially. Women aren't hateful. Feminism is. Feminism doesn't speak on behalf of all women, but I do agree that criticizing it does get labelled mysogynistic (wrongfully so).

/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/02/22 11:43 PM

That's not entirely true, and even if it was, it still wouldn't make it a right wing movement. It just makes it slightly less left leaning. Not like I care though. I'll criticize it regardless of its political affiliation.

I'll ask again. Are you absolutely sure this is the hill you wanna die on? I never said MRAs were a joke, but we both know that's how they're portrayed by the general public, and causes like these aren't gonna help with that. As much as I understand where you're coming from, I also understand why giving women gyms of thier own would be an easier temporary solution than looking out for every guy who might harass them in a unisex gym at all times. We have more important things to take care of than…

Ok no. This is where I draw the line. Please hear me out because this is crucial. We NEED to put our priorities in the right places. This right here, is such a pointless hill to die on that it's gonna make the MRM seem like even more of a joke to the public eye than it already is. We already have many gyms available to us already. There's a demand for women only gyms whereas there isn't for men only gyms. I personally WANT female only gyms to be a thing and I'd be upset if they were to dissapear…
/r/MensRights27/01/22 02:08 AM

Yeah. I certainly understand where these people are coming from, but I agree that we shouldn't blame women as a whole for this, or else we might turn out just like feminists who constantly blame men for everything. We need to lead by example.
/r/MensRights25/01/22 03:21 AM

It's ok for a movement to have its own demographic. As long as they don't lie straight to our face by saying "feminism is for men, too" all while protesting against the very existance of MRAs. Despite all the flaws of feminism, I still think women deserve to have a movement talking about thier issues. Some places REALLY need it more than the ones where it's most prominant, but still. Just because feminism is anti-egalitarian doesn't mean we have to be anti-feminist. We just have to guide them do…

That's because I willingly looked for counter-evidence. I still had a red pill/black pill mindset throughout that time. Now the only thing I have left of that is a better understanding of the struggles faced by both genders and the moral that with enough cherry-picking and bad experiences, you can make either gender look like Satan incarnate.

Exactly. Just because you have empathy for someone doesn't mean you should risk your safety to be around them. I don't know what FDS women are, but I do feel sorry for the women who unironically spout "Kill All Men" and other resentful femcels (so long as they don't do terrible things with that mentality).
/r/ExRedPill06/12/21 09:44 PM

I think it depends on how long and how intensly you were red pilled to begin with. I was in it for barely more than a month and felt like shit all throughout. Especially since my experience with women hasn't been all bad. With all these factors at play, I managed to detox pretty quickly. My will to see the other side of things and actively look up red pill debunk videos really saved my ass though, so I recommend doing that if you weren't already
/r/ExRedPill05/12/21 01:53 AM

MRAs and members of TRP tend to overlap in the sense that most red pilled people are MRAs but not all MRAs are red pilled. I've been seeing alot of conflict between the two lately. One thing is for sure. The Red Pill is the worst of the two. MRAs aren't without flaws and rotten apples, but to call it a cult is a stretch, unlike with TRP, which is dogmatic beyond repair and is founded on a twisted perception of reality unbound by logic.
/r/ExRedPill28/11/21 08:00 PM
3

Wow. Wierdly enough, it's relieving to see that women have to deal with the same bullshit cults as us tbh. It even goes to show how flawed they both are. People in general are just terrified of putting trust in others and constantly look for external factors that can rationalize past bad experiences (in this case from the opposite gender). Now all I wonder is if they also use terms like "alpha female", "beta female", "sigma female" ect. That would be priceless

Feminism can only be considered important if the men's rights movement also is. Right now, that sure as hell isn't the case. Both movements have shitty broken people with alterior motives, but only one is raided by protests from the opposing side just for existing. Either they should both exist with equal representation, or both should just stop existing.

I sort of agree with you, except on the part about ExRedPillers pulling the victim card. If anything, TRP does it more. It's like the male equivalent of 3rd wace feminism except they have some valid points. I really wish this sub-reddit would adress those points. Part of the reason why leaving the red pill is so hard for me is because the large majority of anti-redpills completely misinterpret their points. Also, Karen Straughan. I'm glad to see other people feel this way. They may blow shit way out of proportion, but some of their issues are legitimate and need to be heard and discussed.
