What is clear is she is gone. How you should proceed should be if you want to wait and gather more evidence for the divorce process (depending on the state you live in)

I've been divorced for a year and a half but just like you I was married for 13 years and I've known my ex since I was 13. It's one of the hardest parts I've had to face. Someone you thought you'd spend your entire life with is now apathetic and now all the stuff you relied on her is now on you. One of the things people tell you to do when you're going through divorce is to better yourself. I never cooked one in my life and now I choose a new recipe and cook for my girls when they are with me. F…

I got divorced a year ago and I live in the Houston area. Sadly it doesn't matter who cheated it's 50/50. Should things get ugly and this gets in front of a judge it may be swayed 55/45 but that's the max not worth the money or fight. Sorry this happened as my ex wife had an affair on me too and it still hurts because I lose out on 50% of my kid's time. First step is to file a petition to divorce. This will start the clock where you have to wait 90 days to come up with an agreement.

I recently restarted by life in my early 40's living in Houston and I have two kids. First, I would say get mentally right and get a therapist. Work on yourself such as physically working out, finding out deficiencies in your life wand working on it, and financially getting yourself right. To give you an example, I started working out as my wife cheated on me and refused to give up her affair partner and this was the only "healthy" outlet to get rid of all of that negative energy. When I lost al…

Can't really tell you the whole experience without asking what your financial situation will be like, how the living situation would be should you get divorce, etc. Emotional itll be rocky as you love(d) so there will be times when you go back and forth. Sadness may occur as well. Overall will you come out a better and stronger man? Yes. For instance I have two girls (10 and 6) and my ex wife cheated on me and blamed me for cheating. I've known my ex since I was 12 and we were together for 15 ye…

For the next trip communicate youre expectations and discuss a daily fee that you will deduct from child support should she be late. Or say no next time.

Kind of went through the same thing youre going through last year where you think you just need a win. Just know this will pass (you may take another blow or two). When you think things can't get any worse it probably will but know it will pass. Focus on yourself and be happy. Work on yourself (personally, professional, financially, physically, etc.) EVERYTHING. Talk to someone and be with friends. Take it day by day and focus on the positives in life.

I genuinely think it’s about your mindset. I do gifts, card, etc. (kid art projects) but I personally think it’s healthy that I promote a healthy push to love their moms. On a personal note she cheated on me and is pregnant with the affair partner kid so I don’t have to explain my emotions towards their mother. I’m all about promoting positivity when it comes to kiddos.

I reset last year on my 40th birthday and honestly its first about keeping your kids happy. Their happiness will bring a sense of relief for you that at least you're doing SOMETHING right. After that, I would focus on financially getting better. Don't know if you had to buy a new house/refurnish the house like me, but that's what I had to do. So buying a home, furnish it, etc. Focus on investing strategies or creating efficiencies in your life. I learned how to cook to help keep costs down. Ment…

When a cheating spouse claims to be "scared" of you, it is frequently a tactic known as projection or DARVO (Deny, Attack, and Reverse Victim and Offender), where the person who caused the harm attempts to make themselves the victim to avoid accountability. Don't know your situation but my ex wife who cheated on me did this too.

From what I hear they dont ever go away. Just less frequent and less intense.

I think this comes in waves. Just ride out the wave and things will steadily go back to getting better.

All you can focus on is what you can control. Everything else is negative news you need to block out of your life. Speculating why my ex chose that man. You don't have to compare yourself to that man. Just tell yourself your ex is the one that's flawed and that youre enough.

I focus on all of my shortcomings and see what I can do better. I didn't know how to cook before divorce so I try a new recipe to cook. I didnt know a lot of about investing, now I'm looking into specific company's and ETF to invest in. I recently bought a home so fixing a lot of things around the house. Also one thing my therapist said too is allow myself to be sad. I also workout almost everyday I don't have my kids.

My situation is almost exactly the same as yours. I've been divorced for almost a year and dday was 1.5 years ago. Still hurts A LOT sometimes but other times I don't even care.

What I do is ask if they want to get her anything. If they say yes then I go ahead and try to get something or have them make something.

I worked out and updated my wardrobe. It definitely gave me a lot more confidence in myself.

Rocky marriage doesnt mean it's over. Should you want to do something, end your marriage first so you're not a cheater. Looking on the other hand I think most men would say that there's nothing wrong but as a divorced man I would tell you to do everything you can to keep the marriage together. You both loved each other once to the point where you married. Try to rekindle that fire. Once you exhaust all of your options then file for divorce.

I'm 40 and when I was cheated on and got divorced I didn't want to date again but I went on the apps for about a week to see how it was like and am now dating a nice woman. So I think its all about your mindset and how you are. Take some time for yourself see if you like it. There's no rush to anything.

If you feel that way but in your thinking there you’re not even considering the kids. There’s plenty of research that says not to reveal fault as the kids will grow up resenting their parents which leads to a lot of other psychological problems. There’s no right or wrong way it’s what you believe as long as the kids are #1 in your thought process.

I'm in the same situation except 13 years married and she had an affair with a coworker and blamed me for everything. Focus on yourself. The best revenge is to live your life better so just go find your happy place (friends, workout, etc.)

I had a 8 and 4 year old and told them dad was moving out of the house. I don't think we officially told them we were getting divorced until a lot later when they realized it was a permanent thing I was moving out.

Because it's all about the kids and it doesnt matter who initiated it as people will eventually see through it, however, you don't need the kids to hate one parent or the other for "breaking up the family"

Yeah after reading everyone’s comments, this is the path I’m taking.

Thanks for the tip but like I said it's amicable. I'm fine living at the house until I found something new.

Yes I agree with everything you said. The QDRO is such a hassle to do but yeah it’s the only way.

Don’t know what your state is but if both of you agree to it in Texas you can negotiate anything. That’s why a lot of people say amicable divorce is the way to go if possible.

Yeah custody seems fair and not an issue. Mainly financial right now.

This is how I feel. However, if I go get a new house I won't have any furniture or tv or anything. So what about mid level stuff? I have to ask for some help there right?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
