You obviously don’t interact with very many men if you think this is the case. Sincerely, a single man who owns and lives in a nice clean well-maintained condo, has plenty of hobbies and friends, is heavily involved in the local running community, goes to classical concerts regularly, and, on top of that, is forty but is consistently mistaken for twenty-five.

I posted something similar about this in some other subreddits. It was an article in Vice about this same topic. One of the things that got pointed out to me was the fashion industry, which is one of the absolute worst polluters.

I'm all for celebrating athletes that medal in the Olympics, but when you start getting so far ahead of yourself like claiming that the women's basketball team makes all the men's basketball, football, and baseball team look like amateurs, that's when I'm convinced you're not someone to take seriously. Besides, the men's Olympic basketball team medalled in the last nineteen Olympics and got gold in sixteen of them. This reminds me of a story I read online (which I wish I could find) about a girl…

Tell them that they’re just like Donald Trump Jr. who made that same argument about Syrian refugees and a bowl of Skittles. That would most likely piss them off. But seriously, there’s a reason why I just go straight for personal attacks with people like these. Their brains are so warped that there is no reasoning with them.

Finland is easy mode when it comes to controlling a pandemic; sparsely populated, wealthy and developed, remote, and a population that likes their personal space. It just shows that geography, wealth, and culture matter much more than government actions during a pandemic. Now controlling a pandemic in Japan or Chile… that’s hard mode.

I probably do make some people uncomfortable. Do I care? Not really. It’s not my problem and I can’t do anything about the mental issues of others.

Too long winded and full of crap. If they really were superior, then how come they were “oppressed” all these centuries? And why do they still claim “oppression”? Shouldn’t they have figured out how to beat us, given how superior they are?

So they wasted feminine hygiene products to do this while poorer women all over the world are desperate to get their hands on any tampons or pads? Talk about being privileged.

Yes, men were given a chance and they actually did a lot with it. Medicine and sanitation has advanced to the point where we can handle most diseases that would have straight out killed us otherwise. Technology has advanced to the point where many of us can access information like this and post dumb shit for everyone to see. If women want to take over, they have some really big shoes to fill.

I don’t waste time or effort trying to please them or even be civil to them. It’s not worth my sanity to have to walk on eggshells around them. Fortunately, I’ve encountered very few people like this and when I do, many people also find them insufferable, so ostracizing and excluding them is easy and effective. Then again, most of my social circle consists of athletic types, and I find that they are a lot less likely to turn out to be man-hating pieces of shit.

Some that immediately come to mind are “comedians” like Michelle Wolf and Sarah Silverman. And politicians like Obama (and this is a very unpresidential thing to say). By the way, don’t think that this type of behavior is limited to Democrats. Trump even said on at least one occasion that “women are better” (the example coming to mind being during the nomination of Amy Coney Barrett, who herself even said that women do everything better than men).

Make a politically incorrect joke to these hags (it doesn’t really need to be that edgy or jaw-dropping; probably some simple good-natured ribbing of women would do) and see who really is the one with no sense of humor or the overly sensitive one. Are they aware that the most prominent female “comedians” nowadays are the likes of Michelle Wolf, Sarah Silverman, and Hannah Gadsby? And that they repeat the same formulaic “jokes” over and over again: vagina, bodily functions, men suck, women are so…

Reality is more like: Misandrist: I'm a victim and I think that gives me the right to be a cunt. Misogynist: I disagreed with someone's flimsy arguments about how women were superior in every way possible.

A misogynist. Just because I don’t think AOC is the future of this country, I dared to think Greta Thunberg is insufferable and pretty useless if you think about it, and I think Melinda Gates is a Karen and probably a horrible person to be married to.

No, none of us want a Handmaid’s Tale like society. I, for one, want women to have the same opportunities as men to screw up their own lives. And despite the existence of people like the FDS (female dating strategy) cunts, I can never hate women as a whole. I’m here to ridicule all those dumbasses who spew their unrestrained drivel about how women are superior, how men are nothing but a cancer to this world, and so on.

Keep your interaction with them to a minimum. But if that’s not possible for some reason, I don’t recommend trying to reason with them or have a civil discussion. Their brains are so warped that it will be practically impossible to get through to them. I would also even say that pointing out ways in which life as a man can be difficult is counterproductive. They won’t be sympathetic; actually, they’ll probably delight in your suffering. Don’t give them the satisfaction. This is why I often go st…

Well they might have contributed to one of the worst outbreaks in Uruguay. About 8000 people gathered in Montevideo for an International Women’s Day March, even despite the (female) mayor and the leaders of feminist organizations telling them not to. Many of them weren’t wearing masks and social distancing was poor. Two weeks later, the country is facing record daily infection and death rates. I’ll just leave it at that.

Here are some of my answers. How does it feel to be the same sex as Donald Trump? The same way it feels to be the same sex as Ludwig von Beethoven, Anthony Fauci, Alan Turing, and every other man who has made or is making the world a much better place. Just because somebody shares the same gender as me does not mean that we're alike. Why do you hate Rom-Coms, or do you feel like you need to hate them? Speaking of women’s marches, in Uruguay, on March 8 for International Women’s Day, several thousand people gathered on the streets of Montevideo despite the pandemic being a sensitive situation. A lot of them weren’t wearing masks and social distancing was poor. This is even in spite of the (female) mayor of Montevideo and leaders of feminist organizations asking people not to gather. I’ll start. So much for equality. It’s clear they want special treatment. If you’re burning out, then look for another job. It’s incredibly entitled to expect people will bend over backwards because you can’t handle your job. Burnout figures can’t possibly have anything to do with male-led companies being larger, higher-profile, and more competitive. Of course not. It has everything to do with male bosses just sucking.

I always thought “bossy” meant somebody who barked orders without pulling their weight or proving that they’re useful in any way. I know a woman who is just like that. She’s lazy and useless (on top of that obnoxious and arrogant), but she has no problems telling people what to do.

The woman leading the COVID response in Finland is a bit of a train wreck from what I can tell (side note: it’s often NOT the prime minister that manages pandemic response). Often can’t communicate well and she faced a vote of no confidence because she was sloppy in adhering to the pandemic recommendations.
/r/AntiFeminists26/03/21 06:32 PM

That you don’t care that they think you’re mansplaining. That the mansplanation is necessary because they’re failing to understand certain concepts. All right, these might not be particularly civil. But anybody who uses “mansplain” in a non-mocking manner deserves to be treated with disdain.

Logically sound arguments? No. Here are some examples. He argued that women are luckier than men and one piece of evidence was that more men get struck by lightning (this is mostly due to men having to be outdoors or in high places much more often). He also made the argument that women were better athletes because even though men run 5k races faster, a woman winning a very long distance race (like a 50k race) isn’t unheard of, but since longer distance races more closely resemble real life becau…

To answer your questions: I don’t know what can be done to make women feel safer. There are always going to be assholes out there, and there’s nothing I, or anyone else, can do about it. It’s unrealistic to expect perfect safety anytime you go out. Responsibility to appear as non-threatening? I’m 5’10 and 140 pounds and look like an accountant. Fuck that. This is why when people tell me that my opinion isn’t wanted or asked for, my typical response is, “Well, I’m going to say it anyway...” Or when people tell me I’m not allowed to have an opinion on something, my response is that I’ll have an opinion on it if I damn well please.

I was wondering the same thing. Is this based on degree attainment? Because in the United States at least, men under 40 are still earning more on average (see note below) and the unemployment rates of younger men are not lower than those of younger women. Okay, first of all, speeding offenses are not really that big of a deal. Second, have these figures been adjusted for time spent driving? Something tells me they haven’t. Also, just because the majority of X is committed by men does not mean that the majority of men commit X. For example, let’s say it is true that 87% of traffic offenses are caused by men. From my initial cursory glance at this article, I’ve seen much worse. Even in low-contact sports like swimming or track and field, female athletes would suffer because none of them would win any prize money if they had to compete with male athletes. I read his follow-up from earlier this year. He certainly doesn't hold back in it. Not sure I agree with everything he says, but some of what he says... harsh, but true.

I recommend reading it, even if you don't do it all in one sitting. You're probably already familiar with the first half of it where he describes the potential problems men may face, so you might be able to skim through that part.

The author asserts that "tricking" these bottom 80% of men involves convincing them that marriage and working to provide for them is the most important thing in their lives (which I do think is a right-wing attitude; "feminists" benefit from this because it provides them with resources they can extract, so they also go along with this).

No, not either of them.

This is also covered in the article. The author thinks what keeps society stable is that a critical mass of men have motivation to work, contribute to society, and be productive, and that, historically, has come from them having families in most cases. The hypercompetitiveness that destablizes society, he also writes, comes from 20% of men taking the vast majority of women for themselves and leaving the remaining 80% of men fighting over the older and surplus women.

Take a look at Nora Vincent's book Self-Made Man. She tried to masquerade as a man to see what life was like (she wasn't trans; she just dressed in men's clothes and tried to adopt mannerisms of men so that she could pass as one). Part of her experiment involved seeing what dating was like for men. Initially, she thought dating would be so much easier; she had a much larger pool of women to choose from and she felt like she could be more successful than most men since she understand women, being…

Umm... difficult math problems? The computational biology research for COVID I linked above involved a very difficult math problem. What are they going to do? Ask the virus and the receptors to simplify themselves so that the math problem would be less difficult? The difficulty is determined by the complexity in this world. Not because the "patriarchy" wants to torture women and keep women out of math fields. I swear.

Being gay kind of forced me to remain left-wing. But in terms of changing, it was more like a lot of little things that didn't seem right or add up. Like when a friend of mine talked about a book that "proved beyond a shadow of a doubt" that women were better at everything, the suspicion I received at protests for being male, and some friends saying that college students accused of rape should be automatically treated as if they were guilty (because these people believed they most likely were). …

It wasn't an instantaneous change where one moment I had an epiphany and decided to change my views. It was more like a lot of little things that didn't seem right or add up. Oh really? Since they want to go there... right now, it seems like a lot of the people who have the potential to save the future are male. For example, look at some of the people who are actually taking action to help the environment: Boyan Slat and his Ocean Cleanup project, the man who started an initiative to clean up a beach in India, and the two surfers that started 4Ocean (unlike Greta Thunberg, who ultimately won't have much of an impact on anything and honestly gets much more attention t…

Actually, there were two separate analyses. One to see whether having a woman as a country's leader mattered and another one to see whether having a heavily female national parliament (40% or more female) mattered. Turned out there was no evidence that female-led countries or countries with heavily female national parliaments handled COVID better.

Yes, there are a lot of factors, and I agree the people (how well they trust science and not pseudoscience) and the current institutions are probably more important than the person at the top (although if you have a really bad leader, it can screw a country).

I don't think women are bad leaders or anything either. There are plenty of women who are capable of steering their country through something like this. Although there are a lot of men who are capable too. Yes, the people who wrote these articles started this. I myself didn't think to look at this from a gender perspective until I saw that Forbes article.

You think this is going to be remembered for a long time? I was hoping that people would forget once they find the next big thing to get their knickers in a twist over. I'm hoping these rebuttals get more exposure. I'm glad to see they've been appearing on Twitter feeds lately.

It is kind of obnoxious, but the way I see it is that if somebody did run things or was crucial to the future, they wouldn't need to make such a big show of it. I see it as insecurity and low self-esteem as much as arrogance. The women I know who are actually capable and intelligent don't make a big presentation of it; they just let their accomplishments and actions speak for themselves.

Is it "patriarchy" that a lot of male-led countries (like Uruguay, Cuba, Greece, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Jordan, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam) have been handling the pandemic very well? Even better than many of the female-led countries? I wonder what the people on your twitter thread would say if you told them that the average deaths per million among female-led countries was 51/million whereas among male-led countries, it was 8/million.

You can't lump all the different scenarios together. You're basically including things like "I want to join some friends at the beach tomorrow, but my significant other wants us to spend the day alone, even though I've spent the past several days with him/her" with something like "I forced my son to throw away his favorite toys because he's getting too old for them." What would be a more useful way to determine if gender causes people to view someone as an asshole or not (which I suspect it woul…

I bet a lot of people would accept a seriously flawed study trying to show the superiority of women at something and pick at a sound study showing the superiority of men at something. We're already seeing flawed articles about the superiority of female leaders in handling COVID; all of these articles are either cherry-picked or badly analyzed, yet people share them on Facebook like it's truth.

Several important points were brought up. They compared number of deaths, not number of deaths per million. Bangladesh has about 164 million people and Pakistan has about 220 million. If you compare just number of deaths, you'd expect Pakistan to have more because it's a larger country. Even if they have the same number of deaths per million. The male/female-led country matches are poor, and sometimes, there isn't a good match (there's no good match for Iceland that I could think of, for example…

Would Belgium and Greece be a good comparison? Are they similar enough? At least they're both European and I think they have similar population sizes. Belgiums death rate: 848 per million. Greece's death rate: 19 per million. This is according to worldometers.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates31/07/20 02:15 AM

Even if China is underestimating its death count by tenfold like the article you sent us suggested, that still puts them at around 30 deaths per million, which still is even better than Finland, Denmark, Germany, and many European countries, assuming those countries' counts are accurate (and their death count is probably an underestimate also). But this is a discussion for another post. I asked about the study I linked in the original post.

Yes, these factors are important. Also, a lot of countries have indeed been left out. It sounds like they compare 19 female-led countries with 19 male-led countries and the other 150-160 countries are left out.

They try to account and control for some of these variables in this (which I don't think they do very well), but I agree, it's too difficult to account for all of them. Countries are so different from one another. And how well the country handles the pandemic is probably due to a lot of factors, not just the gender of the leader.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates31/07/20 02:10 AM

I agree that the pissing contest between whether countries that happened to be female-led are doing better than countries that happened to be male-led or vice versa is pointless. It's just that articles about this just keep popping up, and people just keep eating them up like it's gospel truth, even though the "science" behind them is flawed (spoiler alert: I also have problems with the study in this post). I figured it might at least embarrass them if somebody provides data and evidence that di…

Yes. I think there are also a lot of factors that determine how well a country handles this pandemic, not just one person. It's impossible to account for all that; and also, measuring these factors objectively could be very difficult. I know about that analysis that compares all female-led countries with all male-led countries.

I had always thought that dating as a straight man was difficult, primarily because straight men have to carry the weight of initiating, impressing the person they want to date, and deal with frequent rejections (FYI: I'm not a straight man). I read a book in which this woman dressed up as a man for several months to see what life was like as a man. I remember she was expecting to find dating easy; she thought she would have this much larger pool to choose from as a "straight man" compared to wh…

Like comparing New Zealand and Taiwan against United States and Brazil, while pretending countries like Slovakia, Greece, Cuba, Uruguay, Jordan, Thailand, Vietnam, and South Korea don't exist? I see male leaders that are handling this pandemic in their countries really well. I also see female leaders that have not been doing well (like Bolivia's president). I just can't believe whoever wrote that article could openly say that Germany, Denmark, Finland, etc have the best responses (although they …

Well it's certainly better than any of the articles talking about gender versus covid outcomes. Not saying this analysis proves once and for all anything about the gender of a country's leader and how it affects covid outcomes, but none of those articles did any analysis as thorough as this.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/07/20 11:24 AM

Yes. How do we know that if a country has a good response to covid, it's due entirely to the leader? We could have a good leader with people who don't follow rules, and I'm sure that will spread covid. It's just that I'm horrified that a major news source would publish something like the articles saying that female-led countries are doing better without actual data checking and analysis. I'd be mortally embarrassed if I wrote an article like that and found that the data don't support what I said…

The original article claiming how female leaders were the one handling the pandemic best was by somebody who focused on gender issues. It is in really poor taste to use this pandemic to push a political and social agenda. I'm also disturbed at how people just accepted what she said as truth without question. More people are going to read her article, but I think fewer people are going to see what the data actually say.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/07/20 11:18 AM
2

That's true. How do you know if a country's response to covid was because of the leader or other factors? It's just what I think is disturbing is how people just took that meme and accepted it as truth without question when the data don't support it at all.
