My mum had me at 31 too (on her birthday!) She married at 21, but had a strong desire for a career and didn’t try for children until she was 29, she miscarried the first time. But thankfully I came along - cesarean and premature, but mostly ok :p My Dad is an artist and was hardly ever employed so he stayed at home with me and my mum kept working full time. Gosh, your mum and aunt had it hard - my mum was lucky not to have siblings to care for (she had 3 siblings, but they didn’t need babysittin…

Family history is fascinating, isn’t it? How annoying that you don’t know their country of origin! Funny what people leave out thinking it will always be common knowledge...Yeah, the one boy remaining in the rectory is a bit, ahem, suspicious! I’ve traced English, Scottish, Welsh, Italian and Austrian ancestors which is interesting. And then some of the Irish ones are Norse descendants...The Irish ones are Protestants, and the English and Scots, Catholics, which is atypical...big families on bot…

I was just looking at some family genealogy and my great great great grandfather had 9 by his first wife, then she died at 40 (half born in Ireland, one on the ship, then the rest in NZ) then he remarried less than a year later and had 3 more kids and that wife died before him too. Life was extremely hard for those women for sure! Not that it was easy for the men...

Yeah, that’s true, I was a bit unfair. Some men just take even being asked once to do something as nagging - that pisses me off. If they’re happy to help out and genuinely don’t notice things, that’s fine - and you’re right, maybe their standards being low isn’t such a bad thing. I find living with other women harder than living with men in terms of tension about things being just so - men don’t care much at all, but sometimes they just respond to every request to help out like it’s nagging or s…

Yeah, you’re right. But surely lifting a hand to help someone who’s exhausted seems pretty intuitive? Idk, sometimes men just seem wilfully blind and deaf because they don’t want the bother....

They were often working full time jobs - my mum certainly was (accounting lecturer), and my aunts were working part or full time (one was a nurse, one an executive assistant). I don’t recall many mothers I knew growing up who were full time stay at home. It was unusual even in the 80s and 90s - especially once the kids went to school. Those women worked very hard both in and out of the home and the men did much less overall. Maybe it’s different countries also - this was New Zealand, not the US.…

Ugh, how frustrating - from what I see, nothing has changed for most women in marriages with kids in the past 30 years. Maybe the latest generation is better, but most Millennial men still seem to expect a wife to be quite traditional but also bring in an income. Many of the guys here complain that women expect a man to be the financial provider and go 50/50 with everything - so they’re getting screwed. From what i see, the women also financially provide and also do most of the housework and chi…

Yeah, I’m not sure if it’s changed with the next generation - but it still seems common in Millennial men to expect more from a wife than they expect from themselves as a husband. A lot of men here seem to believe women expect a financial provider and a man who shares 50/50 in the housework and child rearing - but most women today also bring in an income and still do most of the housework and child rearing...Maybe in coming generations this will change as we get further from the traditional imag…

I grew up observing marriages that seemed quite heavily in the man’s favour - hence I’ve never really understood men complaining about marriage as if it’s some institution that only benefits ‘the old ball and chain’! Growing up, the wives I observed all worked outside the home - some part time, others full time, but they all brought in some income and some brought in as much as their husbands (or considerably more in my mother’s case). These women also did the vast majority of the housework, lau…

I’m truly sorry about this - what a POS, that’s really rough. My aunt (by marriage) remarried a much richer man - but that was more than 10 years after the divorce after she’d raised the kids - and the divorce was because she gave my uncle 2 chances after he cheated, and he did it again...So, I say good for her, she deserved a better man and my uncle was the POS. Hopefully your ex gets her comeuppance - she deserves some pain after doing that to you - and the new guy should be wary...

Overall, I think society is better for women than men these days - but not significantly. We have different challenges and advantages and I wouldn't easily pick being one over the other if you gave me the choice. It's not an equal choice anyway - there's too many differences to exactly imagine the life of the opposite gender. I'm really only going to contend with you on health. Although men die earlier and have more health problems earlier in life, this isn't due to healthcare for women being be…

Basically I’m just against shaming people. I don’t think it works. Doesn’t mean unhealthy should be celebrated. But the celebratory nature of size acceptance, etc, pales in comparison to the celebration of ‘fuck authority’ type mentality of rejecting new movements and science around eating and exercise. And also the refusal to support things like legislation to put caps on the amount of sugar, salt and bad fats in foods. Or the advertising of said foods to children. It is particularly bad in Ame…

This is how I understand it works in my country (New Zealand) also - why oh why to do many men here think women ‘get everything’ and ‘get the kids’ by default and there’s nothing fair about it? How do they imagine laws are that biased?!

The problem for me with this is that I know of these guys and Adam Driver is a much more attractive man overall than James Deen. It’s hard to discount what I know about them and just judge their appearance... But generally speaking facial attractiveness trumps height to me. I mean, I look at someone’s face all the time, their height is less present in that sense.

Many men seem to marry and have LTRs with crazy bitches if all their stories of divorce rape and all around vindictive, unstable behavior are to be believed. Not blaming them for it - just observing that men have an equivalent to the ‘bad boy’ female motif.

Awesome post!!! You summed it up perfectly a year ago - I wonder if any of them really listened? By the posts and responses around here, I’d say unfortunately not. They still see men as superior in every way really but don’t want to put that out there - so they hamster around it. Basically, many of these men are sexists who believe women are inferior and that’s that.

Haha! This is the perfect response! Many men love crazy bitches and women who are blatant bullshitters. I don’t understand where they get this idea that only women want excitement and ‘bad’ boys - men want exciting ‘mean girls’ just as much. Yeah, what is this repeating motif that we can all somehow predict the behavior of others and if they treat us badly then it’s all our fault? I get it if you never learn and keep picking the same bad people - but people can certainly ‘turn’ on you and be nothing like you originally experienced... There are men all over the manosphere complaining about women screwing them over, ‘divorce raping’ them, having babies they should be able to financially abort, cheating with Chad...and yet they blame w…

I don’t know what a whale is actually - I mean, to me it conjures up an image of morbid obesity. To others it might mean some who is visibly fat, but still able to do things for themselves and isn’t waddling around or needing two seats in an airplane.... I’m not arguing with you that fat acceptance is wrong - I think it’s silly to truly believe you’re your best self at size 18 or whatever. Of course you can hit a woman who is attacking you - just as you can hit an animal abuser to stop them from abusing an animal. I don’t know if you’re baiting me or being obtuse. It’s not this complicated. There are reasons underlying most everything - but acting on those reasons is another matter. Hating all women because of some women’s behavior or generalizations about women, has reasons but is not reasonable because it’s not that black and white. It’s not sensible or good judgement to hate a …

No?! Ever listen to Bill Burr? He says the same thing. There are reasons to hit women, but you don’t do it because it’s a bad thing to do - for her and for you. Reasons don’t always lead to a reasonable action (or viewpoint).
/r/PurplePillDebate20/06/18 04:47 PM

There are reasons to hit children and women, to execute people, to tell lies, to start wars...it doesn’t mean those reasons are valid to act upon. There are reasons not to overeat or drink too much - reasons people ignore because it’s convenient to. We can choose to rise above the reasons and see a better way forward.

Nope. I truly don’t hate anyone. I guess I believe everyone has some good in them and everyone is struggling in some way - life is hard. That makes it very difficult for me to truly hate anyone. I guess I’m closest to hating pedophiles, sadistic murderers, animal abusers... There are reasons to dislike whole groups of people based on stereotypes - doesn’t mean it actually makes sense to do so. I just think it’s sad to feel such contempt for people - especially half the population and those you a…

No, that’s what I said next. I have reasons to dislike men (in general) based on personal experiences, anecdotes and what I see in the news and media. But I don’t dislike all men because that doesn’t make sense. And I certainly don’t hate anyone...There are reasons to dislike women based on experience, anecdotes and the media - but that doesn’t mean it’s actually logical to hate women in general.

There’s a good ted talk about this Having an orgasm does not equal enjoyment. It equals a physiological response to stimuli. Your clitoris and vagina (and penis) can become aroused and orgasm from something that your brain may not find arousing or enjoyable - it’s adjacent to what is normally arousing and enjoyable and your body just reacts. Men can get boners in inappropriate contexts, just as women can get aroused in inappropriate contexts. What matters is the consent and desire. You can also …

As I’m not a fan of city driving myself, it’s good to have a man who drives. But I could work around it. Income...again, could work around it but this is the biggest turnoff of the three. I’m not a high earner myself and would like to play more of a support role in an LTR/marriage if kids come into it, so I’d prefer a man earn the same but preferably more. Height would mean he’d be 5’2”, which is very uncommon in men. Still, I wouldn’t absolutely dismiss him. I’ve never been approached by a guy …

Haha! Yes, they are not the most nuanced questions and I often seem to have answers that contradict one type or another. I’ve ended up 5w4 just a point ahead of 9w1. And I’ve had INFJ, INFP and INTJ, INTP. INFJ certainly seems closest by description - for sure I know I’m an IN anyway! With enneagram it’s even more binary really. And some numbers sound a lot better than others - with 9s being particularly weak next to 5s. The ones I’d say I bear no resemblance to are 3, 6, 7 and 8.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/06/18 04:58 AM

I find that hard to believe. But, whatever. It’s up to you. There is no way all women around you are bad people - and there certainly is not a chance that all women are worthy of your hate.

You sound depressed. Isolating yourself and losing interest are bad signs - I’ve been through it myself. I hope you can find a way to get a better perspective - or at least around better women, if they’re so awful. But if you’re having such a tough time liking any women, it’s likely you need to work on yourself.

You hate women? Really? All women? I don’t get this mindset - I get disliking feminists, women who act a certain way or talk a certain way or look a certain way - perfectly reasonable and valid. But to hate half the human race is extreme. I have plenty of reasons to dislike men - but to hate men in general for those reasons is nonsensical. Is there anything that would change this feeling for you? Are you MGTOW? It must be really hard to be sexually attracted to people you hate. I hope something …

Thanks! 9 sounds more like me than 5 in many ways. Although the description does make 5’s sound great and 9s sound wish washy, ineffectual and shallow...read it, it makes 9s sound pretty awful actually! I’m wondering if there isn’t a bit of gender difference here as I certainly think more like a 5, but communicate more like a 9 (which sounds more like a female type to me). It’s quite binary in its description and I don’t really like that...That comparison of 5s and 9s was certainly written with …

Yes, the enneagram is great that way - I also find the best self and worst self descriptions helpful. Except I relate a lot to both 5 and 9, which is weird...Part of me thinks the problem lies in me not feeling like I’ve found my real path professionally or personally yet. I’ve sort of hidden away for a while now and that has suppressed my ‘true’ personality in some ways. But I’m working on that and getting more clarity - the personality typing does help with that for sure.

Yeah, I am a more red leaning purple in many respects, but all that looks-centric stuff just seems stupid to me. Most people are not incredibly handsome or beautiful and yet we manage to fall in lust, love and procreate all the time. Many a man has a woman in his fantasies that is the epitome of physical perfection to him -that doesn’t mean he can’t find other, less perfect, women attractive and fulfilling - same goes for women. Relationships and love are far more complicated than looks can cove…

This would certainly make more sense in my uncle’s case. I personally can’t understand it - I don’t find just being a smooth talker attractive, without some other positive traits onboard. I mean, my uncle isn’t exactly the life of the party kind of bad boy - he’s just sort of arrogant, callous and decisive. Anyway, I was just curious of how he and ‘his women’ could be explained by TRP - many seem to make looks so paramount...

Yes! Thank you. INTP sounds wrong for me. I’m very feel-y - but also rational and I can be incredibly cutting in my insights (but I word it nicely - or don’t say it at all if it will really hurt someone). Yet another test gave me INFP but by reading more, INFJ sounds much more like me.

By your portrayal we women are pretty horrible people - why on earth would anyone choose to live with one? Some people are just cheaters it seems to me. They will cheat no matter what. They don’t appreciate what they’ve got until it’s gone - always looking for a new set of sexy bits to play with...a nagging, fat, sexually unavailable wife is not an excuse (and maybe you could say she’s nagging, fat and sexually unavailable because he has taken her for granted and stopped putting any effort in to…

I did two - first this one which took 10 minutes and gave me INFJ. Then this one gave me INTJ but with a low certainty (and asked me 40 questions instead of the original 25!) The problem is they can change over time, but I think people do to some extent as well. I also think of you’re on the cusp with the functions, you can come out differently on different tests. So I read the descriptions and INFJ definitely fits me better than INTP.

Can you link to a study about 2 partners drastically reducing the pair bonding ability of women? It’s possible, but I haven’t heard that before. There’s a big difference between a predatory stare and an admiring glance. Staring at someone, unblinking, unmoving, hungrily is just creepy - idk care how good looking you are, makes my skin crawl. I’ve been followed and unwaveringly stared at - it’s frightening. I’ve been stared at by women who look like they’d be happy if a bus hit me. It’s malevolent - not the least bit flattering. Ok, fair enough. Nothing wrong with that attitude at all. I just find it weird when men don’t do it because they think it’s subservient. Yes, I think this is likely true for many. I think TRP is interesting and some of their advice is good - but it goes off the rails completely in it’s lack of personal responsibility in pursuit of hedonism (NSA sex, spinning plates, never marry or commit, don’t have kids) and the way it blames women’s ‘nature’ for every misery of men without turning the spotlight on themselves and whether their ‘nature’ also plays a part...There’s so much black and white thinking... It seems to be mostly about pu…

This is very true - they have quite a few blind spots and inconsistencies in their advice. Seems to me they want to behave however they want with zero responsibility - all the responsibility is on women to behave like proper ladies (but have sex casually and be a plate), to stand alone if they get pregnant (financial abortions for men because they have no hand in creating or contributing to life...), to jump on men like horny pornstars to show consent (otherwise she might accuse me of rape later…

Thanks! I lost a lot on Cymbalta because it made me full after like two mouthfuls of food - 10kg in one month, which worried the doctors, tbh! It’s not as dramatic on Concerta, a more reasonable 500g per week. I also have more focus and energy to keep up with exercise, which is great. It’s like it’s helped my willpower. I just hate the sort of afternoon crash it gives me... Yeah, I mean, I know being fat makes me unattractive to some men - but not all men (as long as I don’t extrapolate from red…

You don’t see short men as being men? Huh? I don’t believe many women see it that way. And how short are we talking? 5’8” or 5’2”? I’m an expat in a country with a lot of South Indian and South Asian men and many of them are not very manly to me - it’s not just that they are usually my height or less (5’4”), it’s often that they are also very petite in build and don’t have the shoulders and overall greater bulk I associate with men. But it suits women from the same region who are often more like…

Makes sense. I’m not saying anyone is designed to be fat, more that there is such a thing as ‘bone build’ (structure and basic musculature) which partially determines the weight and size of people. A bit like the ectomorph, mesomorph, endomorph - while I disagree with the personality traits attached to the types, those body types seem to exist and can explain some relatively large differences in weight and muscle mass between people of similar height.

I wasn’t aware of a different BMI scale for different ethnicities - makes sense. But how about this common belief that there is no such thing as being ‘big boned’ or ‘small boned’? A lot of people deny that build really exists in any meaningful way.

Yeah, I know. It’s just the sense I get from some of the guys around here. But I also think some of them simply believe caring at all about a woman’s arousal or pleasure makes them less of a man. They also seem to believe that women don’t really want or like sex unless it’s with their dream Chad and therefore their only hope of getting sex is that she just gives in and lets him do it....she’ll only give enthusiastic consent to Chad, any other guy is basically raping her...It’s an incredibly nega…

Yes, it is for most us - it’s so simple to see when someone wants out but is too shy or scared of giving offense to actually take action to leave. But many of the men asking these questions here have difficulty reading others. They need clear cut consent or refusal and checklists of do’s and don’ts. Trouble is, if they listen to a lot of TRP and PUA guys about it, then they believe women don’t actually know what they want and don’t mean what they say and they need to push through last minute res…

What kind of women do you hang with then? It’s not ok for women to say ‘no short men’ - and those twitter posters are vile human beings. I don’t believe that many people think it’s perfectly acceptable to height shame, fat shame or any other kind of shame...but that’s up to individuals to decide, there’s no law against it. I see a lot more fat shaming around than height shaming - and as being fat is mostly controllable, and height isn’t, I don’t think you can really conflate the two. Great to hear! :) I really don’t care too much about height myself. If you’re compatible and are attracted to each other, what does it matter? Seems to me it’s more about what other people might think than it is about a true personal limit on attraction. And if you’re that worried about what other people think about what you look like as a couple...well, you’re unlikely to be worth forming an opinion on really!

Great comment!! I completely agree. I have never heard women IRL mock men’s height or state it as some sort of deal breaker preference. It’s really rude to do so, in my circles. Outside of a few of those dating videos and Tinder profiles, I don’t even see women disparaging or even really discussing men’s height online. They might state a preference for taller men, but don’t say explicitly ‘no short guys’. But fat women are hauled over the coals by men online and often in real life too. I’m fat a…

u/xiiteelee 50-60 is more reasonable for a petite, average height woman. 45kg is pretty tiny. I just think his weight preference was a bit unreasonably (and unintentionally by his demeanor) restrictive, not impossible.

It’s kind of funny that the guy said ‘I’m not picky’ and then went on into quite a few detailed preferences, lol! I got the sense he wasn’t 100% sure on all of them. It hurt him with the very low weight preference - I’m sure he was underestimating his ideal woman’s weight quite a bit. 45kg is underweight even at 160cm - 45-55kg overall is going to put a woman in a very petite category - even in Asian countries I think that weight range is too low and restrictive. I’m purple. I didn’t mean sexy as in making her cry with pleasure or because she’s deepthroating! I meant it as a show of emotion - letting some tears out when she hears a sad story or is particularly happy or excited about something. Some men like women who wear their heart on their sleeve. It’s not about drama. I don’t think it’s dramatic to cry a little - histrionics are a whole other matter.

Crying is definitely more associated with female depression. I went through my teens crying every day, I kid you not! I know my depression is getting out of hand when I cry and can’t stop. But then I cry with PMS too for absolutely no reason sometimes. Yeah, I’m a crier... If a man cried as much as I do it would be very odd! That seems to be how it works in many Gulf Arab families. Women are certainly pressured into marriage and choosing the one their parents approve of, but they are given the final decision ultimately. I’ve known a few who have divorced cheating or abusive husbands as well - they need a good reason for a court to grant it, but it’s perfectly possible and usually they can get remarried and are not seen as untouchables as they can be in South Asia.

Oh right. I understand. When I wrote her reply I hadn’t read yet that he was talking about Egypt (a pretty bad Islamic country for women). It is a horrific practice - I’m not defending it. I’m a little saddened by how ignorantly anti-Muslim many of these replies are. There are plenty of problems for women in many Islamic countries - but it’s more to do with the culture of that country/region than with Islam itself. This has been my observation of Eastern European women as well. Make up has so much to do with it. I’m 34 and am often mistaken for mid twenties. I don’t wear any foundation or concealer (never have, simply never learned how to do it and didn’t feel I needed it). I think too many young women look older than they are because they wear so much make up. No matter how great and ‘natural’ they think it looks in selfies, it’s often very obvious there’s a lot on their skin and it makes them look anywhere from 30-50 sometimes! And they might only be 21, lol!
/r/PurplePillDebate04/06/18 09:25 AM
6

By my understanding it’s mostly the skin losing elasticity as it thins with aging. There are lifestyles and genetic factors that accelerate this, but it happens to everyone. Men have thicker skin to begin with, and produce more collagen and oils, so they have that advantage when it comes to their skin aging - but a disadvantage with thinning hair.

‘All men are trash’ is a sweeping statement. It certainly doesn’t have the calculated, detailed thoroughness of AWALT. That alone makes them quite different. I think most people believe saying ‘all men are trash’ is wrong though if it’s said seriously, don’t they? There are negative stereotypes about men - and plenty of flippant jokes not intended to actually apply to all men. I watch porn sometimes...but a lot of women don’t want to or don’t find it at all arousing. TMI but I started masturbating at 11/12 and that feeling was great - just didn’t think men were capable of giving that same feeling. I guess I’d heard lots of stuff in movies/tv where men were talked about as being disinterested in women’s sexual pleasure and it was something they took great pleasure in and we endured. Really sad when yo…

My mother is like that. She just wasn’t brought up in a sex positive environment (Catholic all girl boarding school) and she has a very passive and introverted personality. She has financially and emotionally supported my dad for over 30 years though and he thinks she’s an angel - so, her low interest in sex hasn’t destroyed their relationship.

My dad is still telling me he can’t believe he grew up thinking women were only sexual when they had to be to please a man and to have children. It doesn’t help that my mother is one of those sorts of women though...Catholic boarding school + extremely introverted personality is not a good combo for sex positivity!

Yes, this is where it gets very tricky for women. If we are assertive, we’re too pushy and not appealing. If we wait for men to approach us, then we’re ‘entitled’ and ‘too picky’. It can feel like it’s impossible for a woman to win unless she’s very attractive and then men don’t mind tripping over themselves and making an effort. If she’s very hot, men would probably love her being aggressive and pursuing them. If she’s not, she’s ‘crazy and desperate’....kind of how they say it’s terrible that …

Woah! 100 guys! That’s honestly quite disturbing! Surely we can find a middle ground between being sexually positive in the sense of not feeling completely ashamed of sexual urges or FWBs type arrangements, but tempering that with the psychological dangers of sleeping around with zero attachments? I think a lot of young men are also not positively impacted by lots of casual sex - only certain personalities can really handle that detachment. Have you see that documentary on Netflix - Liberated: t…

This is what I was thinking. As if men here are talking about how much they love women for who they are and not what they look like. As if! It’s always ‘she has to be hot’, ‘she can’t be fat’, she needs to look ‘feminine’... The first thing many RP men listed in the recent thread of personality traits they want in a woman was attractiveness/physical traits. That isn’t who a woman is anymore than what job a man does is who he is. Also it’s far less enduring than a career - no woman stays ‘hot’ fo…

I have so many similar stories about men screwing over their wives/gfs. And also stories of women who have stood by a husband who to outsiders didn’t deserve it. Some of these guys are just so blinkered to only ‘women are horrible’ like it’s the only alternative to ‘women are wonderful’.

We’re sort of back to psychopathic traits again, lol. Yeah, it’s something we learn young isn’t it, that the popular kids are popular not because they’re nice but because they’re good looking or really exciting and callous. I remember the most popular girl in school telling me I was ‘so nice it makes me sick’ when I was 12. I couldn’t really see that as a put down because I really value being nice, but I know that’s how she meant it. I was much prettier than her and she hated me because her ‘boy…

You’re welcome :) It is really confusing! I usually just try to remember that sociopaths tend not to be as intelligent and organized as psychopaths - they’re more likely to lose control and end up imprisoned early on. I don’t know...I guess I have a visceral dislike of anyone who has no or little compassion. I just think it’s tragically undervalued but is what can make the world a much better place. The best would be being able to mix empathy and compassion with the cool detachment and ambition …

This makes a lot of sense to me. It’s like some men believe all men can claim superiority because a tiny percentage of men are the most innovative and ingenious members of the human race....We also tend to ignore female inventors and innovators - a smaller percentage of women for sure compared to men, but they have always existed. A lot of the gap can perhaps be explained by how women have needed to be the primary caregivers for almost all of human history - simply not having the time or educati…

Most people would say the opposite - that good looking people tend to have worse personalities. Especially very good looking people. Of course, that could be colored by envy, but generally speaking if you’re good looking you’ve had some things easier in life that might give you less depth of personality. ‘Ugly’ people (why are we missing the middle here of just average looking people?) tend to have to ‘make up’ for their physical deficiencies by having a more agreeable and rounded personality. How an earth does being a sociopath make you a better human being?! It might well make you a more financially successful human being - that isn’t what being a ‘better’ or ‘good’ person means though. Sociopaths generally too disorganized to be successful - psychopaths are more what you’re describing and psychopaths lack empathy, tend towards superficiality, narcissism, materialism and a lack of personal responsibility and remorse. They’re generally the opposite of good people. That being said, if…

Again, we’re basically in agreement. It’s funny for me because you’d think from the outside looking at my upbringing, that I was raised to be the typical modern woman. I think this is an interesting question - and a complicated one. This is going to be long! To me, what many here miss is that financial responsibility is not the only responsibility that exists for a child. Money is not going to do everything necessary to raise that child. And it isn’t going to help much in the 9 months of pregnancy and the birth itself and the after effects of that on a woman. It isn’t a replacement for a father figure. I certainly don’t want free everything for everyone. I just don’t think it’s fair at all that only a few people accumulate most of the wealth - many of them not by their own merits, but by luck or knowing the right people (or being born into the right family). I don’t pretend to know the first thing about fixing this. I simply think there must be a better way that doesn’t create the plutocracy we seem to have now and the massive income gaps below it.

Why is it awful that women are supposedly created to fulfill the needs of men? Because it is dehumanizing to be seen as simply a creation for the use of others and not as individuals with our own purpose. I didn’t think it was the same aesthetic exactly, simply that most men have some kind of v shape due to bone structure. I thought that’s what v shape was referring to - the underlying bone structure, not the muscle mass. Yes, this is very true. A v shaped torso can be seen on fat men, skinny men, short or tall - and it can be absent on all those men too. Working out enhances it, but if the underlying bone structure isn’t there, it’s not going to be very impressive no matter what.

It depends on context. Some people use those slurs in banter. But here online in a subreddit about gender dynamics, they are most certainly used to shame women’s sexuality into a more rigid, traditional structure. Yes, this makes no sense. With one partner you are likely getting more PIV mileage than a woman who is having casual sex with different partners - she’s likely only doing that on the weekends... Also, sex does not wear out the vagina so the whole premise of ‘sluts’ being looser is false. This is a very uneven parallel. Carrying a baby for 9 months and sacrificing a great deal to it for many years is vastly different to someone giving you an orgasm as a reward for something. I don’t think any woman sees a baby as a reward... It would be better to say: women like non-sexual displays of affection - hugs, compliments, thoughtful gifts and gestures, etc. You could reward or punish many women through this. Women like orgasms too, so that would also work!

I think on average that’s true. I’m a deep thinking woman and most of my female friends are the same - and the male ones too. But this is because I gravitate towards those sorts of people for friendships - when I judge casual acquaintances and random strangers, it seems to me that women tend not to be so deep thinking. I think women are more likely to be psychological bullies, and men more physical - but physical bullying can also feel very psychological...I would say they’re equally damaging if prolonged. I’m not sure these incidents count as bullying, but here are some personal anecdotes. I was slapped by a girl in elementary and middle school…

From personal experience as an overweight woman with a nice face and the excess weight mostly in the right places, it doesn’t matter to most men that my BMI is well above ideal. I think facial features and overall symmetry of shape is more important than weight for both men and women - but there’s obviously a point where the weight distorts it all.

There’s a lot of hyperbole here, but I get where you’re coming from. There’s a lot wrong with male-female dynamics and there needs to be more acknowledgment of the detriments of modern feminism for men and more action to address them. Is there no middle ground where male sexuality is restrained a little back from the predatory and female sexuality is somewhat restricted? Is the only way forward truly backwards?

Please stay away from the white girl. She sounds like a lot of trouble and not what you need. You don’t want to be 3rd best and her coming back to you after so much time (and troubles on her part) is a big red flag of desperation. She won’t make a good wife if she sees you as a ‘may as well’ sort of option. I don’t think you should rush but I can understand the desire to. That could be right. I just also understand from others here (from the US, such as Atlas) that divorce rape is a thing of the past. Are they wrong? And do you see these issues with marriage as being primarily a problem with US women because of your particular culture or is it the same for women worldwide because of female genetic traits?

A little girl shouldn’t even know what a prostitute is - so yeah, no little girl should be saying ‘I want to have sex with strangers for money when I grow up’! That’s just so messed up. But, I don’t believe all sex workers are fucked up women. Most of them are or are in such dire straits it’s the only real option, but I believe some of them genuinely enjoy giving sexual companionship, receiving praise and favours and the money they can make. This obviously really only applies to highly paid sex …

I haven’t downvoted you. I disagree, but I don’t downvote. There are shitty women and shitty men - not all men appreciate a woman’s commitment and what she brings to the table that isn’t of monetary or sexual value. Not all women marry in good faith. But not all women get into marriage to manipulate, emasculate and divorce rape men just like not all men emotionally and physically use and abuse women. Marriage does still mean a lot to a lot of people, women included. From your comments here you d…

OP said sadistic sociopath, not your run-of-the-mill politician/CEO sociopath. Professor James Fallon is a psychopath, but not a sadistic one. He’s done a lot of good research in neuroscience and is an admirable and productive human being. Nothing wrong with that. If OP said a non-violent, non-sadistic sociopath who wasn’t cruel, just didn’t have empathy, but was productive otherwise - I’d probably still give it to the kind 3/10, because I value kindness immensely, but I’d admit the good looking…

Btw, Vyvanse isn’t available in the UAE, so I’m stuck with Concerta. :( But off the SNRI, so hopefully that will help a lot - once I’m over the horrible withdrawal (that the doc said is no big deal and didn’t need to taper...). I’ve already had a mother of a migraine, fatigue and trembling and have only skipped a day (and have been secretly tapering for a week by halving the tablet...). Docs are sometimes so clueless and downright irresponsible about antidepressant withdrawal.

I think that’s good - to make men see women as just people, rather than angels. Guess I just don’t think they need to be told in such an extreme, ‘all women are shit’ kind of way. But if it takes a sharp blow, then I guess it doesn’t matter if the outcome is being aware that women are just people too.... But some seem to take it as all women are less moral than men, out to divorce rape and are irrevocably untrustworthy. That’s just going too far. Only the most radical of redfems truly believes a…

TRPers like /u/LewisCross need to read this. This is very true about many women and their ‘woman’s skills’ and how we can improve men’s lives a huge amount and not have that valued. I have the housewifery skills - the ‘wind beneath your wings’ skills and they can be easily under-appreciated and exploited by an ungrateful man if I don’t value them and make sure he values them. Many men have benefited from women in this way for millennia and still many don’t acknowledge the huge boost it gives the…

Definitely not a sadistic sociopath. They suffer from never having true human connections, not feeling real love and therefore to me, not feeling happiness - they’ll be hated, resented and feared by most people. Their lives depend on exploiting and therefore causing suffering to others. Being good looking doesn’t erase being an evil human being. So you’re saying women are/were parasites? They didn’t/don’t benefit men at all - but didn’t/don’t harm them? That has no basis in reality. Without women, more men can’t be born and fed. Without women, many men wouldn’t have the motivation to push boundaries and stand out. Without women to take primary care of offspring, men wouldn’t have the time or resources to be more creative and big picture thinkers. Women being primary caregivers and domestic workers has freed many men to do more than just…

I guess I'm trying to get into the mindset of having sex with a male friend - that's why it went personal. I don't see how being a good friend equals having sex when sex has never been a part of the friendship. Friendship + sex = relationship to me. I've never been able to understand the friends with benefits set up. It's either platonic or it's sexual - can't be both. But you can have platonic friends of the opposite sex, imo. I guess that's where we fundamentally differ. If you had a female fr…

Sex is very intimate and not something to give as a ‘favor’ in my book. If there’s no sexual attraction on a woman’s part to the man, then she won’t desire sex with him and if she were to somehow do him that ‘favor’, it would likely leave her feeling used and resentful that he would expect such an intimate thing. Does a man really want sex from a woman who doesn’t want him? Star fish pity sex? I’d hate to feel that kind of resentment and disinterest from someone. If a male friend of mine, who ha…

I don’t think it’s necessarily a benefit to take on a step kid - just not necessarily a detriment. It might enrich a man’s life to open it to the child and woman because he’s very compatible with them. He might not be able to have children of his own. He might love having kids around and be able to accept ones without his genes and feel good about that generosity and lack of jealousy. Well, isn’t TRP about giving men advice? Actionable advice? It’s seeking answers and advice that surely drives a lot of men to RP and the manosphere? Sorry, maybe I’m being dense, but I don’t quite get what you’re asking here? Just because a woman has kids doesn’t mean she’s looking for someone to be financially dependent on. From OPs other replies, it suggests she is financially independent and actually doesn’t want him involved with the kids (as of yet). That’s basically what I said? Men don’t tend to get good advice from women because women’s advice comes from our perspective, which is less action oriented. I think you’re right that women can have entitled expectations about many things these days and that they’re not so forgiving. It can seem very easy as a young woman (especially a reasonably attractive one) to move on to the next man if the first one disappoints on any level. Men usually don’t say to women ‘I’ll buy you dinner but I expect a romp out of it’. It used to be that men knew that was unlikely (and wouldn’t respect a woman who gave it up on the first date) but also knew they needed to …

That’s funny because I think some men get too hung up on tallying things. You scratch my back I’ll scratch yours type of thing. Many men here want it to be very transactional and fair - I give my wife gifts, she should give me more sex, etc. I do like for things to be as fair as possible but of course I know life doesn’t work that way. It’s inherently unfair. When I talk about being egalitarian I mean it as trying to give people equal basic respect and opportunities and believing in their right …

I’m pretty lucky that I get Botox on insurance for treatment-resistant chronic migraines - it’s only a small amount in the forehead (32 injections all together, but only 5 where you’d see it in the forehead). It has definitely improved my frown lines - they were mild, but I was developing that dreaded line in between the brows (my mum always looks upset because of it). I hated that that was my first wrinkle at 31 - no crows feet, just a faint line that made me look like I’d been annoyed or confu…

Interesting. As I said, I do get the objective grossness of putting genitals in your mouth! I think it seems unfair to me to expect someone to give you oral when you absolutely won’t reciprocate, but if it’s just a no-go area entirely then fair enough. And yeah, it can seem like a childish oral fixation to want to suck something - but that would sort of go with sucking nipples even more! Human sexuality is weird...

I wasn’t trying reverse psychology. Just trying to understand the reasoning. If you find the idea of oral gross, then fine, totally ok to have an aversion to something. I mean, yeah, objectively it is gross but I think it seems less so when you’re really aroused by someone... Does that mean you wouldn’t want a blowjob either? Anyway, I honestly didn’t mean to play games. It’s entirely up to you what you do with your mouth - just wanted to understand what made you so sure you wouldn’t do it with …

So, even if you get your dream wife: beautiful, non-feminist, submissive, mach_like_a_flame worshipping virgin you wouldn’t want to please her in bed? I get why you wouldn’t do it to a woman casually, but a devoted, loving wife? What does it take away from you and how about if you really wanted to do it? If you loved the way she smelled and felt and just really wanted to dive in - you’d deny yourself? Why? It just seems really manly to me for a man to want to eat pussy. Just an animal attraction…

Totally agree. A vasectomy is certainly a much simpler and less expensive procedure than the equivalent for women. I think it’s always fair to ask if a procedure is available. But as you say, expecting it and then writing an article about how unfair it is that you’ve been refused is just petty. Means testing makes sense to me too. We do favour child-bearers a lot, when it is a lifestyle choice and needs to be thought through independently. So many people have kids without really planning for it …

It’s got a lot to do with options. If you have a mental illness you need treatment - it affects every aspect of your life and can drastically reduce the quality of your life (if not end it all together). It stunts your ability to contribute to society and can make you a state burden in many, many ways (crime, substance abuse, suicide attempts, self harm, etc). You can’t go private unless you are pretty wealthy - which is meant to be the point of public health, giving necessary health care to eve…

I wouldn’t want to see this type of marriage be commonplace. It’s just too transactional and robotic to me. If certain people want it framed that way, then I guess a prenup would do it. How many people go into marriage with a specific timeline for kids and how many? There are so many reasons why people might change their minds on kids. How about if the man decides he doesn’t want any more - what rights does the woman have then? How about if the first pregnancy resulted in postpartum depression o…

I think so many men look good well into their 40s and early 50s - the good looking ones who take care of their bodies. More common than women who still look good at that age. Most white people still look good at 30, imo. It’s more like 40 where I see a sharp decline in most. Some people just age so prematurely - and others rather late. I agree about female incels.

Ok, feminism has quite a spectrum. It’s not a single, cohesive movement where everyone agrees on everything. I find that I am often treated with ‘chivalry’ and generally I like it. I agree for the most part. Our experience of attraction is complex and when we try to explain it to men, they seem to find it unbelievable and conclude we are either lying or don’t know what we want. The latter can be true - sometimes we don’t know what we want until we experience it. It makes it hard to break down into useful advice of what men should and shouldn’t do... But often we do know what we want, but it’s something that men don’t accept because it’s not a simple fix. That’s how advice …

Personally I find humour very sexy. I have had crushes on comedians for ages who are not handsome or hot - but they are so biting and funny that they get to me anyway. Certain kinds of humour show intelligence and anyone who is telling jokes and making people laugh comes across as confident and charismatic. Craig Ferguson doesn’t do it for me, but that’s not my kind of humour. I’m wary of looking at talk shows as good examples of banter in general - sometimes it’s very genuine and off the cuff, …

How about the second comment? You want an explicit list of sexually attractive features? Women are giving it - but it’s so different from men’s that it seems some guys can’t hear it and conclude we are prudish or don’t know what we want. It’s about chemistry, energy, engagement, etc - it can change depending on the time of the month and what mood we’re in. It simply isn’t comparable to the way many men experience attraction in much more simple terms. Most men either find a woman physically attra…

You may well be right. It’s a very interesting debate - nature vs nurture. I think men are definitely discouraged from being ‘feely’ about what they get from their gfs - talking about how hot she is is encouraged, about how supportive or successful she is, not so much. And yes, women focusing on the way a man looks is shamed to some degree as showing herself as being ‘too’ sexual. I’ve heard some on here talk about how men’s status and behavior is viscerally arousing - how it can transcend his p…

Online men certainly seem to care more about looks than women - because it’s more what turns them on (we know from studies men tend to be more visually stimulated than women). The men I know talk more about women’s looks as a factor in their attractiveness than women talk about men’s...For women looks can be arousing, but so can status and behavior. I don’t think this is so much the case for men?

Ok, but a feminist website isn’t really concerned with masculinity. They’re concerned with women’s issues. They’re likely to have female-centric narratives and content. Even so, they have articles (from a quick browse of feministing - website I’ve never been on before) about trans men and they are obviously trying to be more masculine - which is viewed positively...I found links to the Fatherhood Project which celebrates black men and their relationships with their children through photography. …

Yes, women do that sometimes - playing the innocent to get out of responsibilities. It’s not ok. But I was weirdly raised to be both publicly stoic and tough but also passive, pandering to others (men especially) and sensitive. It’s a weird dichotomy and I think quite a few women grew up with this mix of toughness and an expectation of putting the needs and wants of others ahead of our own. It’s made it hard for me to have clearly defined boundaries between what I really want and my desire to pl…

Some are. I haven’t known any personally, but I have heard of men marrying a woman who has a child from a previous relationship and then they go on to have children together. That first child is not made to feel like he/she is not as important to the father as his biological children - though maybe in his mind they are. It’s like people who adopt, when it comes down to it. Adopted children are not biologically yours but hopefully they are loved and treated just the same as if they were. Men are …

Very good insight. I think you’re right. Women are often very defensive about labels too because we have insecurities about our value. This has changed markedly with the rise of mainstream feminism though...We certainly need to stop making men feel marginalized (and obviously many men do, which is deeply troubling and unacceptable), but correctly using the term toxic masculinity should not be taken as a shaming tactic, because it is not intended that way.

Men misunderstand the way attraction works for women, judging by many comments around here. They seem to believe it works the same as it does for men, which I think is generally not the case. Women misunderstand men’s difficulty in approaching and initiating romantic relationships and/or sex. We see it too much from our perspective at times where it is relatively easy. We misunderstand how much men genuinely want to be desired - as much as women do. I also think both men and women view men as mo…

Agreed with all of this. I don’t get the stereotype of women being fragile. Logically it doesn’t make much sense and also in my experience, men are as emotionally fragile (if not more so than women in many cases I know of) they are just less expressive of those emotions and that seems stronger. I would say that I also talk more openly when I’m not face to face - it’s just less confronting. I’ve been talking with guys on other posts about this and I still don’t get it. If you find them attractive on other levels, then there’s nothing wrong with that - so long as you can and do share physical intimacy, as that’s an important part of a relationship. Yes, this is how I have always understood the term ‘toxic masculinity’. It’s not a derogatory term for masculinity, but the aspects of masculinity that are harmful to men and wider society in general. As you say, the main use of it is in regards to many men suppressing emotions that then are (almost inevitably) expressed in damaging ways both for himself and others. You sound like you lack empathy. The personality, goals and dreams of others mean a lot to me. They are what helps me connect to people. I wouldn’t say female comics desexualise themselves - more that they de-glamorize their bodies and sex. It seems to be mostly about taking charge of the image of women as passive sexual objects and turning it upside down. I don’t generally find it very funny, but I get the thought behind it too. That’s what I was picturing! Lol. Men are not always good at picking up the subtleties of women’s physical communication if they’re not very forward about it. Being interested in someone can be communicated very subtlety at first.

Most women don’t need men to provide for them anymore so I’m not sure where this ‘stress to provide’ is coming from. Women get stressed by men’s expectations often too. It’s the way it works I guess.

I still don’t know what the signs are he’s meant to be looking for that she’s ‘hot’ for him? I’m not convinced all women will exhibit it clearly on a couple of dates.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/04/18 02:22 PM
1

Fair enough. I just don’t think OP should give up too quick. And I’m not talking weeks to get to know a guy and get intimate - I’m talking a few dates and clear behavior on his part that he is interested sexually but also in more than just sex. Sure, some women are going to be up for it quickly, but I think most need a few dates to feel at ease and confident enough.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/04/18 01:56 PM

Ok, I get it. I think behavior is more important than looks for sure.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/04/18 01:54 PM

Well, yeah, not too long - nothing wrong with making it clear you want the woman - just expecting a woman to be ‘clearly aroused/interested’ very soon into getting to know her is going to lead to a lot of men giving up too soon, imo.

I haven’t read it all because his basic premise strikes me as wrong. He is seeing it from a male perspective - men are excited by women immediately...or not. A woman’s attractiveness is almost solely hinged on her appearance for a man - sure, if her personality is great too, then maybe she’s a ‘keeper’, if it’s not, she’s a sexual release and then leave her be. For women, it doesn’t work this way. A man can be physically not our ideal - but his attractiveness can grow immensely if he gives us th…

How does a woman show ‘obvious’ attraction? I think you’re jumping the gun by pushing her away because she’s not making obvious signs of sexual interest or whatever yet. I can’t speak for all women, but for myself and the women I know - we do take time to get really interested and trust a man to get physical. Is she a little bit shy or insecure? That would certainly confuse obvious attraction. I’m very reserved for quite some time with a man because I’m not very forward and it takes me time to w…

Women are more likely than men to have autoimmune disorders, osteoarthritis, depression/anxiety and hormonal disorders. We’re more complicated physiologically than men and have weaknesses related to our reproductive hormones. It’s disingenuous to simplify it down to ‘just don’t be fat’ - few men’s lists truly end there. And some men will have sex with almost any woman regardless of weight, age, etc but will only LTR a more specific type because of what their mates will think of them...I genuinely don’t think the gap is that large between the…

Physically, women are more diverse than men. Makes sense that men’s tastes are more wide ranging to fit. Still, many men have strong tastes for a certain look in women - be it buxom, small chested, Amazonian, petite...men certainly are more likely to be fetishistic about physical traits. When you say women’s tastes are more homogenous - what are you picturing physically? Yes, but what characteristics they find attractive can be demanding. Just as they can be for women. Don’t women generally just want a man they are attracted to and is nice to them? I think the biggest problem for men and women is that the basic drives are pretty opposite. Men want many young, attractive women for casual sex, women want one exceptionally successful/outstanding (and therefore attractive) man to settle with. These are our ideal lizard brain outcomes but most of us know we’re not going to get it (and many of us use our higher brains to think of less base ways to fulfillment) - there aren’t enough exceptional men or young hot women for everyone to partner up wi…

Funny that - I just keep getting told it’s depression and anxiety and I’m ‘treatment resistant’ so it’s good to have another direction to take it in. Of course a vagina can be too tight! If you can’t get into it, surely it’s pretty useless to you? Not to mention how the woman feels about it... Your last paragraph - are you for real? Would you actually prefer it be a painful sacrifice to the woman so you can get a death grip? Do you have a micro penis maybe or are you just sadistic?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/04/18 08:22 AM

Virtually all men like tighter vagina’s - especially if they don’t have large penises and/or have masturbated with a death grip for years and expect a vagina to be just as tight. Few women have vaginas that are truly not tight enough, but we certainly get the message that tight is best. Trouble is, a very tight vagina (even one finger is a struggle) is not common or healthy. Vaginismus is like a painful muscle spasm you can’t control (think of getting a crick in your neck) and it makes sex painf…

My biggest problem is apathy for sure. I’ve actually been reading about ADHD in women and it fits me quite well. Yes, this is true. I’m INFJ and feel a bit of both sides - extroverted feeling, but introverted intuition and thinking. Without the extroverted feeeling, I’d be much less empathetic. Even so, I find it hard to be open and ask for help - so I do have an inkling into how hard it is for many men to get help for their problems.

I think one of the problems with male depression is it manifests very differently that it does in women, for the most part. It’s often less obvious and can sometimes push people away because there’s usually more outward anger and frustration. Men are less likely to seek help as society paints mental illness as weakness - it’s painted this way for men and women, but weakness is much more acceptable from women than men. I have struggled with depression and anxiety since I was about 12. I’m a woman…

Obviously many women really love to be very submissive, so I doubt this applies to them. We have a very strong culture of all sex being female submissive - to some the very act of being penetrated is submissive, no matter the circumstances, no exception. That obviously means women are always submissive and this wouldn’t matter because she can’t have another role anyway. Her arousal is dependent entirely on the man’s initiative and behavior. I think many women assume the submissive role because t…

Well, sure it’s weird - but it sort of depends on the circumstances. I mean, is this girlfriend just a way of visualising what is and isn’t desired in a real girlfriend and a way of ‘practicing’ (in his head) how to talk to her, etc? Or does he talk out loud to an invisible woman and have no interest in real women? If it’s the latter, then there’s a mental health issue. The former could be a technique for visualising a goal and that’s not unusual. I’ve also heard of people on the Autism spectrum…

Yes, I think this is very true. Arousal doesn’t happen just by looking at a man - I’m open to it when I see a man I am physically attracted to, but that’s not enough to actually get me physically ready for sex with him. So many other things come into play when it comes to arousal. It’s so different from how it seems to be for men. A man could see a great pair of breasts or nice ass and be aroused and ready for sex without anything else necessarily coming into play - I think few women are aroused…

The reason I think personality matters more than looks is simply that I spend more time interacting with someone on a non-sexual level than sexually. It’s important their voice is pleasing to me. It’s important I like the way they smell and feel when we are physically close. But most important is how they make me feel about myself and how well we can converse and do enjoyable things together. Their looks are just not the most important factor in any of this. But they are undeniably an important …

Prostitutes for sure. They are thinking, feeling, imperfect human beings like the rest of us, as opposed to (un)realistic, idealized objects of high grade plastic used as masturbation aids - and sometimes bizarrely as permanent female replacements. It depends what kind of sex workers too though - drug addicted, street corner types are very different from those working in registered brothels or as high class independents. It also depends if he’s just doing it for the sexual release, or for a ‘gir…

Yes, it’s usually women who are the most appalled at the thought of another person not wanting children. It just feels like for women there’s more expectation that you will get all gooey over kids and have more of an emotional attachment to the idea of having them. I had even very progressive people think I’d like to be an au pair when I was younger because I have quite a ‘feminine’ personality and also I have that buxom look that some (unkindly) term as matronly. I hate this sort of thing and I don’t understand why it’s seemingly acceptable to portray this as if it’s normal behavior. I don’t think there’s anything good or strong about destroying property to show your anger. For some reason it does seem to be a relatively common trope in the media: women breaking things, throwing men’s belongings out a window and even punching or slapping. It’s pretty disgusting. To me it makes women look really bad - like we’re all over-reactive, jealous, violent harpies…

It’s seems to me most people procreate because a) their genes will progress another generation b) they’re expected to and it gives them status c) they believe it will make them happy And plenty procreate with no forethought at all... Most women who delay having kids or decide not to are aware of the consequences. Reminding them just seems patronizing. I mean, some people with children regret having them before they got to do other things with their life. Kids take over your life (as they should) and plenty of people don’t realize that before it’s too late. If I desperately want a child later and can’t conceive, I can adopt, which to me is quite appealing. You can’t give up the children you have or neglect them to keep your f…

No, I shouldn’t, but it’s a traditional belief that a woman’s worth is tied up in her fertility. If you can’t have kids, that’s sad and you’ll get sympathy, but if you say you don’t want kids...well, you’re a bit of an aberration to some people. This is only to a few people though, most don’t ask or make a comment about me not having kids.

I think it’s definitely worse for women. We are expected to want kids and if we say we don’t or we’re not sure, then we’re not being ‘real women’. We’re being selfish, immature and unnatural. Men are generally expected to settle down eventually and have kids sure, but many see it as central to womanhood to have children. I don’t think it’s central to manhood in the same way. Childless, unmarried men are often celebrated (mostly by other men who think they’ve got it good) or accepted, whereas bei…

Well, most women do want a connection (as do most men) - doesn’t mean it works out that way. People fail at many things they aspire to fit all sorts of reasons. But their intentions matter, IMO. If you feel a sex doll is your only real chance at sexual happiness then that’s entirely up to you. I’m not an expert on sexual history, but as far as j know women’s independent sexuality has pretty much always had a veil of shame over it. Most cultures have archetypes of female purity and chastity and the belief that women’s sexuality was tied to men and procreation. I did study Classics and recall the Greeks believing that women couldn’t attain sexual pleasure without the introduction of semen - and that men were encouraged to masturbate (even in public)...Mostly female sexual pleasure simpl…

Sure, but not always. I can get turned on by imagining how it might feel to touch him and be touched by him - and a nicely shaped phallus might make me throb. But the movement/voice/behavior and personality of that body is a big factor in how turned on I get. Do I get wet looking at the statue of David? No. I’m not shaming men who just like the look of a body. It’s really about the men who want a doll toreplace a woman. If you have a sex doll, but you still date and can appreciate a woman despit…

Woah - you are obviously bitter about women. Few women have no stretch marks and no ‘crooked toes’ (or other petty imperfections). Waistlines vary and boobs inevitably sag with age in almost all women, especially when they are large, which is ideal to many men. Some women never have perky boobs or a nipped in waist, even at an ideal weight. Women are also quite hardwired with what an ideal male form looks like - tall, broad shouldered, muscular, tight butt...Most men don’t conform to this any mo…

A don’t think a sex doll is equal to a dildo at all. A sex doll is seeking to replicate an entire female body - not just the sexual organ. Dildo = fleshlight. A sex doll = ??? I don’t believe male sex dolls are commonly available, but I could well be wrong. They’re creepy too and I wouldn’t be ‘you go girl!’ about them.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/18 08:40 PM

If we’re talking like a real doll it’s very different from a fleshlight....I’ve got no issue with a fleshlight or vibrating cock ring or something, no different to a girl having a vibrator, but a realistic doll is a bit weird. I think it’s probably that I’ve seen documentaries/news clips about men who would rather have a doll than a real woman. Even men who give them names and treat them like their girlfriend. They’re a tiny minority though.

I find height is a factor in my attraction to men. I like men to be taller than me (I’m 5’4”) and I admit that a man who is already appealing to me is bumped up a factor if he’s also tall. But it is not an attractive feature on its own that trumps other physical features. I think some women place more importance on height than I do and some much less. I would say the majority of women do like men to be taller than they are and many find taller than average men particularly physically attractive.

That’s a very good comment! It’s hard to feel valued for your kindness and nurturing in a society where so many people are obsessed with finances (because of the system we live in). It’s partly why I find this all so fascinating to discuss. Yes, I agree. The UK and New Zealand are pretty similar culturally. Outside of disability, you’re expected to look after yourself as an adult. Even in the marriages of my friends in their 30s, finances are split pretty evenly with the one earning less often even having less spending money - I personally believe ‘what’s mine is yours’ when you’re married, but a lot of people today see it as leeching if you don’t contribute equally and you have to make up for it some other way. Yes, I guess you’re right. I just think for many women emotional contact needs to be in place before physical sexual contact. And for many men sexual contact leads to emotional contact. That’s awful about that girlfriend. She shouldn’t have been with you if all she wanted was sex, very cold indeed. I think that’s why I don’t like the idea of hook ups or casual sex where that mentality is needed - it would make me feel really lonely. I mean, women and men are not all the same - I’m talking generalizations. There are certainly women who are unemotional about sex and men who are - but it’s more common the other way around.

Well I’m in the UAE but from New Zealand. Obviously the UAE shames women for independence...but in New Zealand it’s pretty shameful for anyone to be dependent on others. Both.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/18 05:17 AM

I can give you anecdotal examples...it’s not really acceptable in my country to be a dependent woman. It happens and it’s more acceptable than it is for men, but a woman is looked down on if she’s not independent. Feminists definitely look down on such women - and their views are mainstream.

Ok, so that’s just being human then? Being ambitious, disregarding the desires of others and going for what you want? Those are all traits associated with men and until recently (and still in many cultures and groups) were considered un-feminine. What are masculinity role models? To me, a masculine man is basically a man who is doing what he wants with his life and not caring what others think/letting them turn him around. He could be in basically any profession and doesn’t need to be built like an athlete. Masculinity to me seems to have a broader meaning than femininity. I don’t want to get into an argument about it. It just gets my back up when men suggest that the work w…

In many ways yes. Men used to work out their stress physically - for women it’s always been more verbal. Men now are discouraged from anything that seems physically aggressive and pushed to talk through their feelings. While I think talking is useful for many men, for many others getting physical is the best way to work things out. I know my dad, who grew up in the 50s and 60s, said arguments and other conflicts were often solved by fist fights and playing rugby - and the camaraderie it created …

I agree with this. The modern world is completely screwed up - people work longer hours and are less happy than ever. Physically life has gotten easier for both men and women. Few men in the West work in highly dangerous and back breaking conditions anymore and few women have to cook and clean in the laborious fashion of our ancestors - or walk miles to collect water and gather berries and tubers (women’s work in more primitive societies). But we all have a lot more psychological stress and pres…

it’s a reaction against a negative stereotype. I’ve never heard someone talk negatively and disrespectfully about the tasks men tend to do - but women’s work has always been framed as easier and less important.

Nothing wrong with it. Just don’t expect every women you meet to be ok with it. We all have different inclinations and values. A lot of women simply don’t like the assumption that they will cook and clean - I’m sure many men don’t like the assumption that they will take out the trash, do the yard work and catch the spiders either! It’s just a reaction to stereotypes. We’re all individuals and prefer to be treated as such.

If you think cooking is just ‘pushing buttons on the oven’ then you’re doing it wrong! Also cleaning is not necessarily easy - it depends on the size of the house and how messy the person/people are. And whether you have pets and/or children. The things is, you don’t have to do the manual labor every day. If you are responsible for all the home chores for two or more people then it’s never ending and pretty tedious - especially if you aren’t a natural at it and don’t enjoy it. I’ve always liked …

I’ve never had any sexual attraction or fantasies about women. It’s not utterly repulsive, but I’ve never felt desire for female sexual connection. Porn seems to have a lot of sexually fluid actresses and I think that makes it look like women are pretty open to sex with other women. I think there are plenty of ‘gay for pay’ type women in porn who pretend to be really into other women but actually aren’t. The amount of girl-girl porn is a reflection of men’s desire to see two women much more than…

This is a good examination of the research into decriminalizing prostitution and its effects I know in New Zealand (admittedly a small country with only one prosecuted case of human trafficking I can find) that the decriminalization of prostitution has been successful Sure, slavery is slavery, but surely you can appreciate that being forced to perform sex acts in often unsanitary conditions is worse than cleaning houses or working construction for very little pay and having their passports taken…

We have decriminalized prostitution in New Zealand and it works very well. Personally, I have no problem with legitimate sex work if it’s the woman’s informed choice and she isn’t being forced into it by pimps (male and female) who got her hooked on drugs and separated from any true friends and family. Not all feminists are anti sex work, though many seem to be. You make a good point about human trafficking. It affects men and women. I live in the Arabian Gulf and there are many laborers and dom…

I agree that it all seems to be a race to no one needing anyone basically - like we should all be completely self centered individuals with no need for a partner in life. It’s incredibly sad and certainly goes against human biology. Yes, exactly. A man’s presence and voice is so important to me - more important than what I can learn of him in photos and a blurb. I think online dating is hugely problematic for many people, especially men - and also women who are cautious and need more than photos to meet up with a man.

It depends how clear a guy is about his sexual/romantic interest. Sometimes you assume a friendship when the guy actually wants more and he’s not clear about that. There’s still a lot of embarrassment around masturbation for women. I feel like I grew up hearing lots of talk, slang and jokes about men’s masturbation but next to none about women. I get it about the ONS. That makes sense to me. You’re probably right about it being more than just a few men who don’t care about a woman’s pleasure. But I think one thing porn has taught men is to expect a woman to be (seemingly) really enjoying herself - so you’d hope the absence of evident enjoyment would be troublesome. Now we just have to get women to stop faking it so men are met with silence if she’s not into it at all and then she can give him pointers on how to make it better! Does any…

Quite a few TRPers say that a woman’s value is sex. If that is our value and we give that without expectation of a longer term commitment, then we’re selling ourselves short and feel used. If there is little pleasure in a casual encounter for a woman - which seems to be the case generally (and some men admit they don’t care about a woman’s pleasure with casual sex) then that also makes a woman feel used. Most of those men have a lot more money than the women - or have high status in another profession. They’re attractive to the women because of that, not because of their appearance. Oh, and maybe personality has something to do with it too! lol Also, some of those women are more average than hot, in my eyes - and some of those men are not ugly but average too.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/03/18 04:37 AM

I think it’s mostly in the media and porn - a fantasy for men. Men in films often have women hotter and younger than themselves - only a few men in real life actually attract young, hot women. Average women usually don’t get hot men either...generally everyone ends up with someone on the same ‘level’ as them. I don’t really see why that’s surprising.

I’m saying the opposite - women having more freedom of choice means less appealing men get less sex. Sorry if I didn’t word it clearly. Certainly the human race would be much less advanced without male drive - although male drive is not entirely about females, it’s also about men competing against each other for status. This obviously brings more females, but men do those things for broader reasons too, surely? I completely acknowledge that without the tendency of men to be assertive and forward…

You really think women would never initiate sex and let the human race die out? That’s just completely untrue. I think OP is being a bit extreme and sweeping, but this assertion that men initiate everything and there’d be no procreation otherwise is patently false. Men initiating just makes it easier for us - but if they stopped, then we’d take it over and choose the best men to breed with. It would leave a lot of less appealing men in the cold, which is what all the aggressive male sexuality ev…

Ok, either I’ve been completely mistyped as an introvert (unlikely) or we’re using different definitions. Maybe the difference is male vs female introverts. Sure. But I’ve been stared at this way plenty of times and not once has it felt ok no matter how the man looks. It’s flattering to be looked at admiringly - but there’s a difference between that and being looked at with nothing but an almost predatory lust. I haven’t been attracted to any of those men and that’s because of how they looked at me - even men I might otherwise find visually appealing - as soon as I see their eyes like that, it’s just creepy. Introversion gets such a bad rap. You can be introverted but have great social skills and actually be sociable - it simply means you don’t derive energy from others and you need alone time to recharge. Of course, extreme introversion coupled with shyness and a lack of social skills is definitely going to hurt your chances, because then you don’t even try to connect with others. I think lack of social skills is a much, much bigger hurdle in dating than introversion.

Sure, sorry, I guess I mean extroverted and a bit exhibitionist maybe? Plenty of extroverts are quiet people - they just get energy from socializing, whereas I tend to get drained by it. If a guy is an extrovert, but not an in your face, party-all-night-kind of person, then we get on well. Usually people who are very sociable and outgoing find me a bit annoying and vice versa - our social needs are just too different. I’ve been described as an extroverted introvert, because I have very good inte…

I guess not. It depends entirely on the man. Just in my experience I tend to get on better with lower n count men.

I’m a female in my early 30s with a very low n count and I honestly prefer men to have a low n count too. It’s just more likely to reflect a personality that gels with mine - reserved, introverted and a bit dreamy. I associate high n count with a more aggressive, superficial and extroverted personality. I can totally respect that some men place a high value on a woman’s n count, but I think men should respect that some women also place a high value on a man’s. And also of course that many people…

My natural personality is definitely female - I struggle in many ways to be what this modern world expects me to be - a mix of feminine and masculine traits, with an emphasis on the more traditionally masculine mindset. I’m unambitious, nurturing, compassionate, sensitive, agreeable and quite prone to neuroticism. Trying to fit into a competitive and often ruthless job market doesn’t suit me well. But being a ‘traditional’ woman is frowned upon by my friends and family and society in general. I’…

All those tactics sound fine - but you and I both know there are more shady tactics espoused by many PUAs. Negging and LMR for example. Doesn’t mean all guys employ them, but when they do, they are definitely manipulative jerks on the wrong side of morality.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/03/18 05:00 AM

I get it. I don’t see it as manipulative to think these things through and behave this way. I think some things happen naturally in life (and dating) but most need planning and direction.

You know what? You’re right in most respects. I was mostly reacting to the whole make up thing as not being analogous to specific, calculated behaviors. We do change over time, we must - and we do wear different masks to greater and lesser degrees of coverage to different people in our lives. But I think there are some constants in viewpoint or behavior that don’t change - or really shouldn’t change. Your moral compass maybe? Essential boundaries you just don’t cross? I’ve always been careful ab…

Yes, I can understand this well. A lot of people give advice that is basically just regurgitated from others and they don’t really think about you as individual and what works for you. They’re saying it in many ways to make themselves feel that they’re helping you and they can tick you off their list. If someone really understands you and wants to help you best, they just give you their presence. I’m glad you had a friend like that at such a difficult time.

Come on man, make up is hardly equivalent to PUA tactics! It’s the equivalent to guys using hair gel or dye, or having fashionable facial hair, tattoos or piercings. Or maybe lifts in shoes...?It’s physical adornment, Not behavioral affectation. Many women do other manipulative and fake things, for sure - playing dumb and helpless, for one...But make up (and bras - well maybe the 3 cup sizes bigger ones are very dishonest!...) are not equivalent to deeply considered manipulation strategies to ge…

I think it kind of depends on the extent of the strategy and manipulation. What you described I would just call ‘planning for the best’. You’re not tricking her or pressuring her - you’re just making things line up nicely to hopefully go the way you want them to go. Nothing wrong with that and I doubt any grown woman would find it surprising or manipulative. It’s manipulative and fake if you employ PUA techniques to try to psychologically trip her up and pressure her into sex and you also behave…

I relate to plenty of this and I’m a woman! I too learned early that I don’t experience the world like most other people (HSP, empath, introvert with an atypical, isolated upbringing) and I certainly don’t see it the way most people do. I feel often that there’s something very wrong with me because I don’t understand where most people come from on many issues. I don’t get their priorities or apathies. I feel like an observer making notes on an alien species a lot of the time - in this world, but…

Honestly, as an anxious, introverted, avoidant HSP woman I can say life is pretty darn hard for me too. The world is in many respects hostile to such people - if we want to succeed in the same way the majority seem to (or seem capable of) we have to change ourselves quite dramatically. I do think it is harder to be an HSP, introverted anxious man though - society either pities such women or just kinds of ignores us. I think men get a lot more pressure to be emotionally stoic, aggressive and basi…

Good thing I’m not a guy and I enjoyed it. It was nice to just be by myself, tbh. But I am very introverted and self sufficient, so I think I tolerate sexual isolation better than most women even.

Over a year - I was traveling almost the whole time and I’m not interested in hookups. A vibrator was enough for me sexually and I was fulfilled with traveling and having lots of new experiences.

Well, yes, parents need to bear the most burden in introducing their kids to healthier lifestyles - I should have mentioned that. It seems to me though that lots of parents these days are kind of hands off - let the school and internet raise them! Those people shouldn’t really be parents - but eugenics is another matter! Stoicism seems to also be a cultural thing, not just a gender thing. I’m very stoic because most New Zealanders are - there’s a very can-do, grit your teeth streak in the countr…

Basically, mental illness needs a lot more attention paid to it across the board. The way it is marginalized and characterized as pure weakness by many is completely unhelpful and hurtful. If young people struggling with depression, anxiety and low self esteem had more support around them and were able to speak about it without stigma, a lot of these incidents wouldn’t happen. Girls often have horrible problems with self esteem too, but are more likely to turn their anger in at themselves and se…

Women do say that and get shit for being ‘difficult’, ‘fickle’ or ‘cock-teasing’. And if we feel better later and do want to have sex, then we’re ‘indecisive’ again and are inviting being badgered into sex and no doesn’t mean no...we can’t freaking win simply because we’re not 100% sexually available exactly when we’re wanted...

Ok, this is gonna be long! I think this applies more to more common forms of crime than mass shootings. You have to be more than frustrated and in crisis about masculinity to kill dozens of people. Those men have mental illnesses - there is no true ‘reason’ behind their violence. Now the many men who are in prison for less serious crimes could well be hugely affected by what you’re talking about. I have discussions with my dad about masculinity as it’s something he has struggled with over his 68…

I don’t know. Not all woman do. I don’t like the way many women equate overt sexuality with empowerment - I think it’s generally just peer pressure and wanting to compete to be visible to guys. I don’t get how that’s ‘empowering’ - the opposite really. Lots of young guys these days expect barely there clothes and overtly sexual behavior from girls - if the girls don’t do it, they’re almost invisible compared to their hyper-sexy peers. And guys are pressured into chasing those kinds of girls by t…

You’re completely twisting this. There are many reasons why a woman could reasonably change their mind about sex over the course of an evening. It doesn’t have to be a ‘lack of self worth or boundaries’. Arousal for women often takes time and is affected by things men don’t contend with - or are not so affected by. Women are more self conscious - if we are bloated from eating, have been sweaty and are worried about how we smell, if we have PMS or our period, if we just don’t feel sexy early on b…

Why do you distrust what women say so much? You asked a question, we replied, but you’re discounting what we said in favor of your own opinion. Why ask at all if you’re not willing to truly listen? There’s just no point at all in conversing with someone who seems to believe their opinion is fact and the people/person they’re conversing with is either lying or deluding themselves. I stand by my reply to your previous question. Sex for me is best with someone I know and trust. Therefore casual sex…

I pretty much agree with this. Men are both what can make the world safer for women and what can make it more dangerous. Men seem to be the gatekeepers to our safety and women seem to be the gatekeepers to men’s happiness... It’s rather sad when you look at it that way. Of course, many men also live in a world where other men ensure their safety without them being cognizant of it.

Ok, I get it with the role play. BDSM is a form of role play too. I didn’t know you only meant the dress up naughty teacher stuff. You’re a man though. Men are usually much bigger risk takers than women. I will take rough sex with someone I trust and who cares about me, over sex with some hot dude I don’t know who really could be dangerous and treats me roughly...But some women are big risk takers too - to me it’s risky to have any kind of sex with someone I don’t know, I’m not that kind of girl…

No, but it can give the illusion of danger - i.e. rape role play, being called a whore, tied up, slapped, choked, etc. It’s exciting, maybe painful and definitely at someone’s mercy - but you know that person isn’t actually raping you. They care about you, they respect you but they are doing things that you can pretend are risky and dangerous. What’s the alternative? Actual rape or abuse? Most people don’t get off on real danger.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/02/18 06:04 AM

You can have a little ‘danger’ and unpredictability in sex with someone you’re comfortable with - that’s what roleplaying is for. You just know that when it comes down to it, the other person truly cares that you enjoy yourself and don’t feel genuinely afraid or abused. If you want it to stop you can trust them to stop. What some men around here seem to get confused about is that they believe women like truly dangerous sex - meaning they want a guy they hardly know to get rough without warning a…

My boobs don’t attract more attention than a woman with a bubble butt...does that count also? Plenty of men nowadays seem to prefer small boobs and pretty much all of them prefer a frame smaller than the average DDer+ has... Anyway, I know where you’re going with it - we could say the same thing about any attractive partner having a higher likelihood of straying due to higher ‘demand’.

The best sex is with a guy you feel completely at ease with. I only feel that with a long term guy, not that I’ve had much experience otherwise. It just makes sense to me that the best sex is when you let go of all inhibitions, try out new things and have fun. I can only be that way with someone I really trust and that takes time... But, that’s just me. I can’t speak for all women. None of my friends have ever talked about sex with a ONS or short term fling as being preferable to their long term…

I am PromCrom but I had a problem with my account so had to create a new one! Infuriating! Anyway, I agree with what you said completely. Guys shouldn’t be in prison over honest mistakes or sex acts that may not have had explicit consent, but were enjoyed anyway. It is all about context. I doubt anyone would accuse you of sexual battery for the no prep anal you described. If you were both enjoying it and she hadn’t explicitly said ‘never do that’, then fine! I’m glad it worked out. (Rather impre…
