I think it’s mostly in the media and porn - a fantasy for men. Men in films often have women hotter and younger than themselves - only a few men in real life actually attract young, hot women. Average women usually don’t get hot men either...generally everyone ends up with someone on the same ‘level’ as them. I don’t really see why that’s surprising.

I don't really get what's supposed to be discussed about this statement - everyone wants a hot partner, men and women, but there is a limited amount so only the hottest men get to date the hottest women and vice versa. Additionally women have a lower sex drive so they have even less incentive to lower their standards than men do when it comes to sex. They'll only date down looks-wise to secure resources and have children while men will date down in class/ socio-economic level and have sex (not relationships) with women below their looks-level.

In the end the vast majority of people ends up with people in their league, both in looks and class/resources/background.

I mean if you're a hot girl, why on earth should you pick an average guy over a hot one? It's like saying only rich people can afford the most expensive cars, only smart people can invent groundbreaking technology or make significant scientific discoveries, only strong people can carry heavy loads and only tall people can reach the top shelf at the supermarket while average people can't. It's true, it's pretty obvious and it is not 100% fair since some people are born with these traits or start out with traits that make it easier to obtain the others but such is life. There are a few outliers to which it doesn't apply and there are some ways to work around these issues to still get what you want but it won't be easy - that's just how this world works.

Well I worked in retail for a while and I can tell you I saw plenty of ogre-looking guys walking around with cute little blondes with lots of jiggling curves. And I also saw plenty of guys I thought were Chads walking around with biped behemoths. I struggled to find consistency but it just wasn't there.

As far as hot women go, none of them are really "hot" without at least some makeup on. In fact many hotties are actually downright hideous without makeup. It's not to say they're all ugly without makeup, but the majority are in fact just average without it. And that's because women, like men, are just evolved walking apes with more ingenuity and less hair. Once you understand that principle and apply it to dating, it becomes quite liberating.

It's something that I think men should be taught at a young age. Probably wouldn't hurt to teach it to women too.

This doesn't make any sense. Why are you whining that women choose their partners? Are girls you consider hot supposed to date who you choose instead of who they choose? I don't know if you are a RPer or not, probably since this sounds like their BS, but the image your lot has of "chad" is not even what many women find attractive. Women have different tastes. My only real dealbreaker when I was dating, no longer applies since I am happily married now, was intelligence. I would not date and certainly would never marry a stupid man. I want a partner that I can debate issues with, explore new concepts, learn new skills and knowledge, and really just have the ability to absorb information and think. Physical appearance is a factor but it is certainly not the only factor. RP doesn't believe women have brains so they leave intelligence out of their little list for 'alphas.' Maybe it is left out because it is very difficult to fake intelligence or they already think they are the smartest beings on the planet so they don't need to bother. They left out a very significant factor of attraction no matter what their reasoning was.

Attractiveness = looks, smarts, personality/character and values (latter LTRs only).

If the girl has highly matching values with the guy and he overcompensates hardcore on the other areas, it's possible. Large package and skills in bed can't hurt, either. Otherwise, no way.

Unless you are at a college where the gender ratio is lopsided. If there are 2-3x more women than men, and you live in an area that is geographically segregated (aka, not part of a larger city like Columbia university, UCLA, etc. but an isolated town built around a college) then maybe you can.

Also if the woman has serious self esteem problems, it is possible.
