Sorry it happened to you as well and it will take some time to heal. Don't blame yourself. My suggestion is to talk to family and friends as much as you want, they are there for you and will be your biggest supporters. Work on your own wrong doings for the next person that deserves the best version of yourself - that's what I keep telling myself. No one is perfect, but take it as a learning experience and don't settle for less. Remember this - what he/she did to you, it is not your fault unless …

Thank you. It turned out to be the biggest life lesson for me.

Spot on. Mine left me out of the blue when I was at work with zero red flags that led up to it. Found out she was in contact with her ex after she left (had been in contact since we got married come to find out). Full resentment towards me, kept leading me on for 2 months until I went full ghost. She was trying to tell me that she was just taking advice as friends from him even though I found out later that she went straight to his apartment.... and he was married with children. HE filed for div…

Why do you say that? Sounds like you're thinking more short term than long.

Don't beat yourself up about privacy thing... be glad that you did. As hard as it may be, move on and don't look back. Sorry to say, but women like her (men included), will never be happy and cause chaos in others lives without realizing it.

I understand this - just went through an unexpected divorce and abandonment. Honestly, just make small goals for yourself and you'll realize how busy everything will keep you. I'm still in the baby stages.

The absolute worst. Giving advice and can’t keep a relationship themselves… the hypocrisy.

Wow. This literally brings back flashbacks - knowing before you even get to the door. Same exact feeling. Have you two spoken since or know her whereabouts?

I was only married for 2 years and the EXACT same thing happened to me. Came home one day, gone… with a note. Told her friends to block me etc, but all our mutual friends took my side. Honestly, do you think she was getting bad advice from her single friends? They’re normally the most dangerous.

Sorry to hear that. Did you have any warning whatsoever?

How long were you two married? It just doesn't sound like she was mentally stable and just looking out for her best interest, not yours. Everyone changes, but it's the commitment to each other that matters.

Sounds like a narcissist or some mental disorder

That's what they are, psycho's. At the end, they'll be alone.

My wife started seeing a therapist that her 2 time divorce dad (never married again, cheats on current girlfriend) is also seeing back in her home country in eastern Europe. After 2 or 3 sessions, she ended up abandoning me while I was at work with no notice - even texting me while I was at work checking in to see how I was doing (not knowing she was already gone). Once I got home and saw the note, she stopped responding until the next day. She told me her therapist even told her to leave the wa…

The one's that take the easy solution, saying get a divorce, from a one-sided narrative of the story truly need to not be in practice. That is beyond unethical.

It seems like some therapists are lunatics. That is morally and ethically wrong. I bet they are single, narcissists or have trauma's themselves and are pushing it onto others rather than seeking help for themselves. That's sad.

Words of wisdom! I don’t believe it will get better for her. To go from nothing, to having a home, nee car, clothes she wanted, etc in a matter of 3 years… with no work from her side… I doubt she’ll go up again.

Wow. Mine literally blamed everything on me, I mean EVERYTHING, and made also went on to say that one day I will realize "how no one will ever love me like she does and that I was always hers". Yet, she left me while I was at work, left a threatening piece of paper, found out she had secretly talked to her ex for 2 years, was trying to ruin my reputation amongst my peers and employees throughout the marriage AND wanted me to give her money after paying for EVERYTHING the entire time while she ha…

Thank you for the insight! I'm more clear what I'm looking for now - I thought I had "the one", but it was whiplash with the abandonment. My ex may have had NPD, BPD or something mental going on.

You dawg! I haven’t been in the mood for anything other than working, spending time with family and working on my mental health - I think I’m trauma bonded with the way my wife left me and all the promises we made each other. Hopefully I’ll see the light at the end of the tunnel now that the divorce is over.

I’m a true believer of this. Social media is terrible influence of single women (and I’m sure men too) telling others how it “should be” when they can’t hold a solid relationship.

At one point I thought I owed her everything - because she really made me feel guilty and I blamed myself. Now looking back… I was doing everything in my power for her, while she just took, took, took and spoke to her ex in secret for 2 years.

THANK YOU! She became… classless. It was a facade. At the end, it’s a learning lesson for me to make myself a better human. Hopefully it will catch up to her one day - maybe it won’t because she was self-centered. For now - no dating for me. I am going to focus on my health, family and work. If “that one” comes along one day, great. If not, so be it. Happy for you!

Glad you’re there! I’m still processing it - but the divorce is done and over with. I know she will regret it eventually.

She’ll regret it. The world was given to her and support like no other - for me - a learning lesson to become even a better man.

I got mine to sign a separation agreement - she keeps what she has, I keep what I have or I told her I would go after everything. Didn’t have to attend court, attorney did. Took 15 mins!

It’s hard to find people with such similar stories. Glad you got through it! I’m mentally fighting it still, but will get there eventually. Also been told the same about being upbeat now, which is nice to hear!
